- The WORST PUB GRUB we have EVER REVIEWED! We asked for our MONEY BACK and WALKED OUT! SHAME on YOU! This was once a Wetherspoons and it has been taken over by another company, a company that makes Wetherspoons look Michelin Star.Abysmal food and Appalling Service!
Plus!! To get our refund we had to give our phone number and email address.

When a restaurant is nearly empty at lunchtime it's a very bad sign. When they've run out of basic items before lunch that says they weren't expecting any/many people to turn up, and they're trying to save money on inventory. You can bet they're understaffed too.
Perhaps you should have shown us the hygiene rating stars. They should be visible at eating / takeaway establishments.
That pie looked like it was cooked on a radiator (not a hot one at that) Any food establishment that cooks pies in a microwave should be closed down. 🤢

Low end iffy food, certainly not for me. I’d prefer to pay another £20 - £30 for better quality food.
The company Incorporated in February 2024 after the previous company had been dissolved in March 2023. If this is how they are going to run the company it could well also be dissolved soon.
How can they get away with describing that muck as food? They should be done under the trade descriptions act, and that my friends is why I never eat a these sort of places.
Before the Regency was a Weather Spoons it was owen by a butcher , every steak regardless of size was at least 1 inch thick , I used to go there three times a week best meals I ever had .

I don't want to be mean but! I've had a lot of crappy food in the UK (a few times I've had good steak, Indian food,) but mostly crappy even at British restaurants in Spain, Why can't the UK raise the quality!.
Totally agree with you, there is absolutely nothing intrinsically wrong with British food, it's the way it's it prepared and cooked quality issues aside.
British people will accept and eat crap so consequently they get served crap. If a lot of resturants served up the same quality stuff in France or Spain they would be out of buisness in a week.
They're extracting the urine Lee... Can you imagine if you have certain dietary requirements for either allergies or for religious reasons... And you're expecting a Chicken & Mushroom Pie... And this place is serving you a Steak & Kidney Pie... The time taken to prepare and serve the food was completely unacceptable... And when it finally arrived... The order was wrong... And it was stone cold... Just because they wasted your time guys... They should've at least given you the drinks you both had for free... I used to work in a pub... So i know exactly what it costs them for a mixer box of Pepsi Syrup... And what they charge their customers for a glass of Pepsi... It has an incredible mark-up profit margin... So it would literally have cost them next to nothing to comp your drinks Lee... This place is dirty and quite disgusting... And we all now know why they have such depleted food stocks here too Lee... And also why it's so empty in there at lunchtime... That should tell you all you need to know my friend... But at least you got yourself a refund for both meals pal... Cheers Lee. 🍺

Interesting, I've been to this place once when it was a Wetherspoons two or three years ago and it was what you'd expect from a Spoons. I didn't know it had changed hands and I wouldn't bother going again now. I have also been once to the Widow Frost in Mansfield since it ceased being a Spoons and it was nothing to shout about so won't be going there again either. I've never heard of the No.1 Pub Co, but neither of these pubs are good adverts for it. Avoid I'd say and I'm glad you asked for a refund.

That food looked awful & if it had been warmed in a microwave, looked up the owners and it is just one person not a large company Just Mr Singh, looks like company was only started in February 2024.
In Wetherspoons only thing they cook is the eggs, everything else is pre-prepared so you are correct, they just warm it up.
I think your food took so long arrive because they had to send someone to Tesco to buy it because they had ran out of pies & scampi
Tesco? More like Aldi? Not that there's owt wrong with Aldi... their 'specially selected' pies are delicious, as are most of their steaks.
I once saw a guy from domino pizzas buying loads of frozen pizza from asda! 😂 Crazy!

Hmmmmm so they bought it lock stock and barrel i assume. It looked and felt like wetherspoons which is a good thing. They do a great job restoring and resourcing old buildings.
good to see you both, Angie and Lee. It's one of these times where you happen to come across a sub par pub restuarants. I would've demanded a refund for waiting too long before the food finally arrived. I'm surprised you've been served a wrong piie Lee and that pie looked soggy. Oh well, glad you got your refund. Onwards my friends!
I live in Kirkby and I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews about this place, the spoons was fine as usual but been hesitant to try this one
Terrible shame. Probably good when it was wetherspoons. As for sticky tables, that's quite common in many places. Sure it's because they just spray a cleaner over the table, but do not wipe it down thoroughly. Just a quick wipe. Two in a row with sticky tables.
Miss Spoons in Kirkby - It had faults but it was just a much more affordable and convenient place to go with friends.
Dirty windows, dirty carpets, and tables terrible food, but other than that I thought it was alright. Maybe you set your expectations just a tad to high 😂
Oh dear guys what a shambles, avoid people..we tried Tim Hortons for the first time this morning, wow, much better than Maccies (not difficult) but the best bit, buy a drink and get a breakfast for one pound..yes one sheet💷👍👌

"Running out of food" reminds me of a local pub which couldn't do food because the cook was late in to work, and the owner was on holiday.....it's closed now

Perhaps they just using up the stuff left behind by Wetherspoons in the freezers, lol. There 's been a lot of talk about dine and dash eaters not paying down our way, just dash in that place I would think! Comedy skit at the beginning should have been the outro!

I would be very upset if I ordered chicken and mushroom pie and they brought steak and kidney as, if I had eaten any without noticing, I would have been very ill as I am allergic to kidney.

March Hare inn near Worcester is doing a carvery on a Monday for just £5
Haven't been to the March Hare for a couple of years but the carvery was the best by far in Worcestershire
Went there the week it re-opened. Long wait for mediocre food and it cost about 25% more that the same (better quality) meal when it was a Spoons. I heard the staff saying they'd "ran out of chicken".... it was only 12:30! I hope they see this video.
Hi Lee, my uncle and Auntie used to keep the pub over the road, The Nags Head back in the mid 60s, it was truly banging back in those days with one of the first Discotheques of the day Saturday night was packed every week.

Looked a shambles ...hates these restaurants chains ..basic fried food and cant even do that ...surley chef cant send that food out cold and you still had to pay for drinks should be been a total refund on everything
Places like this don't employ Chefs they just use microwaves and a freezer!
They probably don't have a Cook/Chef but rely on the bar staff to cook with basic training
It is awful, to say it's the same staff as when it was Wetherspoons. We'd go quite regularly then but we've been once since it's changed hands and we're in no rush to go back.
This review is spot on in my opinion
I went to a pub once outside my college and many years ago and we ordered food and me and my mum where the only ones on there and we waited an hour after ordering and it was the chefs fault they apologized and they said the chefs where in big prep work at the back and forgot about the order on the printer they did not hear it i hope i dont have that situation again
I stopped going to my local chippy because they keep having there focus on the regular people and put our order right at the bottom of the pile and they made a mistake with my Donner kebab when I did not want salad in and they ended putting salad in
