Years ago I went to a Robin of Sherwood convention with my brother. This is my only claim to fame. Somehow we got talking to Ray and he said come on over and let me by both of you a drink. I have never forgotten his kindness, humour and banter, he is so down to earth and such a likeable man to be around. I first remember watching him in a series called 'Fox' in the seventies and he played one of the brothers, and Peter Vaughan played his father. I have followed him ever since.
I don't know how this channel popped up. But I like it, and I can't wait to see future content. Nothing better than listening to legends and their old stories.
Ray has always been my favourite actor, right up there with the greatest. If he’s in it, I’ll watch it. Such a natural talent. Steak and kidney pudding’s, mash, beans, gravy, and brown sauce😂😂😂 So much for the, “Waldorf salad,” Caviar, and deep fried Peasant, lol. They say, “ Meeting your heroes, is… more often than not, a disappointment, clearly not in this case. Keep on doing, precisely what you’re doing Ray, with a firm hold on your roots. Amazing! X
What a legend Ray Winstone is I’ve been watching his films for longer, than I can actually remember best of British with all is wealth still knows what time it is how much pint of milk is Fairplay no Hollywood bollocks here just straight talking honest personality glad he’s doing well, bless him
A simple compliment on UA-cam don't half bring out the keyboard warriors! You know the kind of cowards who will type whatever they want on a keyboard but wouldn't dare be so straight up face to face. What have society become!!??🙄
@@JAWS-qj1rj yes, I couldn’t of said it better myself a simple compliment for another human who I admire and I get abuse What a lovely society we all live in now anyway 👍 ta mate
I'm in Australia but born in London - and jealous of the of the pud shown here! Probably a simple msge to others - don't ever be ashamed of your London or English roots - a mix of all cultures and we all have a lot to be proud of! There's many places that could learn a few lessons. Peace and love.
Loved this. Great chat (you Cockney's go non-stop 😂 I could listen for hours!) Ray's a deadset living legend, one of my alltime favourite actors. Jeez it would have been brilliant if he did do Lock Stock..
My Uncle Dennis Buckner always popped in to see Tony before an Arsenal game back in the 70's, the cafe wasn't on the tourist map back then. So glad you're smashing it and not disappearing like Cookes down Broadway market.
He had a few pints with us in The Clarence Pub , Rusholme Manchester in the early 80's . He was working in a play or something in Town . He just walked into the old vault we all used to drink in , stood at the bar and had a few beers . Chatted about football - City = West Ham - Top Guy .
Really love this - grazie mille. My family moved over from Barga in Northern Tuscany in the 1890's and lived in the area around Virginia & Columbia Road. We call ourselves Britalian because it's great to switch between the two cultures like Nev and Anna do. Most of the family has moved out of London now, but I'm gonna make an effort to pop in next time I'm down - we're Spurs though, are we still welcome! 😅
Great interview&the nxt time i'm in London i'll make sure to visit Pellicci's.( My Sister has lived by Columbia rd since the 70's) ..And i always liked the old school Italian Cafes.Nice food& surroundings with character! And Ray is his usual ' Down to earth' self !
Anna and Nev are naturals at interviewing; I think it helps that they know the people they're talking to, so it's like a normal conversation Down The Caff. I love Ray and I've watched his film career from the start. Great episode; best thing I've seen on UA-cam for ages, and I'm looking forward to the chat with Kevin Rowland, one of the few people who dress up to go to E Pellicci.
The funniest video I've seen in ages. Brilliant. We used to call steak suet puddings, " Babies heads" in the army. Not sure why, but I still call them than now.
That was wonderful! Brilliant interview with an icon that I love and have grown up with since watching Scum as a 17 year old on it's release in '79. As one that visits London 2/3 times a year from Edinburgh, I always try and pop in for a few pints at the Salmon & Ball. I'm going to make a point in popping in for some nosh at Pellicci's the next time I visit the East end. God bless to all three of you.
Awesome...Just subscribed x ...Ray Winstone...total legend....great actor and just a down to earth, great guy x I never been to Pellicci's yet but i have seen a regular youtuber i follow go there a few times...food always looks amazing!! Great chat with Ray. I live in São Paulo, Brazil now, but i miss English traditional grub. Nice to catch up with what Ray's doing, I would love to bump into him, a down to earth film star. My cousin, Tony Gale, used to play for West Ham and knows Ray, I think. I went to a lot of games, even though I'm from Lupus Street, Sw1! My auntie Val, Tony's mum, who recently passed away, had a photo on the wall of Tony and Ray. I love the Gentlemen series on Netflix. I hope there's another series. I love that, Idris Elba pops in too, top actor. Like Ray, I love Italian food, I've been to Italy three times and loved the food and culture. When I next visit England, I will have to pop in for some grub. All the best.
Ive had the pleasure of meeting Mr Winstone and i must say he was an absolute legend, even had the old photo done with him, top bloke, thanks Ray👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
Can't beat a nosebag in a proper caff. They are dying out. Many of the oldest and most established have gone. And here he is, that beautiful man, Ray Winston, patronising one of the very best caff's in the world. Lovely.
I met him at Sicily airport such a gentleman . Allowed a photo his daughter took . Was travelling on our flight no airs and graces you got to love Ray ❤
Anna and Nev you are absolute legends. Can’t wait for the next episode. Quick one: why is that yellow logo ‘face for radio’ coming up! You guys ain’t already hacked are you??
Absolute quality! Buzzing this came up, Ray and Italian cockneys! I was a Geordie and Lived in Plaistow worked in Canning Town went to Upton Park.. loved my time there, absolute salt of the earth people along with a few thieving bastards! 😂
It is crazy to think that such a legend grew up in the area that I was also raised in (Plaistow), and that my dad probably went to school with him at one point because they are the same age and from the same area.
Gee, what a terrific show - count me in. I haven't heard the term 'light someone up' before, that's a good one. I guess it means the same as 'gave him a good tune-up' or 'come the raw prawn'...that sort of thing.
Love ray Winston and the cafe looks amazing on the videos I have seen fab food family vibe and traditional honest good food it's what you need ❤ beautiful to see
*New Subscriber* : That was great. Here in Czech Republic there are still local places to eat good hearty food. My pizza guy ( from Grosseto ) is right beside my apartment building. Once a month he drives his van down to Milano to pick up authentic Italian deli food and wine and the most perfect ham. Funny Ray having to kiss Angelina all day. I had to have a meeting with model-like girl from Marketing for 2 hours, and my girlfriend ( who works in the same building ) wasn't too happy about it ha ha
Wicked.. I went to visit family in East London and passed by this shop numerous times. Managed to speak to Tony, I believe he is an older gentleman who's worked there 54 years. 2 years after the 1 year after the krays got sentenced. This place is legendary
Where I’m from in the NW we love a babbies yed , down the road they have a flat cap pudding, which is basically massive home made steak and kidney pudding, literally the size of rays cap here 😂, plus home made chips, mushy peas n gravy 👍👍🏴🏴So good, but you don’t have to eat for a week later.
