Learning from you made me realize that theory is the grammar of music language. Instead of learning how to “play songs” I began viewing the scales as the alphabet, learning to spell chords to speak what I have to say. Thank you so much for explaining this so clearly, you’re the absolute best.
Born to teach. This is a gifted teacher. She easily translates what is on the board to the keys next to her. First time I have heard of chords with names like these... "half diminished" and "dominant 7" Amen to you!
More greetings from France! This time from a Briton. I've really consolidated my music theory over the last months through watching your videos. I'll be thinking of you on Wednesday. I've just been reading about the Armenian tricolour. It says of the orange band, "This colour signifies national courage and industriousness, reflecting the hardworking nature and creative talent of the Armenian people." Sums you up, I'd say. 🙂
I just finished your 42 lessons (as of this date.) I hope you continue doing many more of the same. I've learned things I didn't know existed! I want to buy a clock from you, so please order more. Great Work. Thank You!
While this is a review for me, it's also coming at a very critical time. I made a lot of progress in music theory since I discovered your channel and whiteboard early on. But my keyboard and fretboard skills were lacking. So I quit worrying about seventh chords and have been trying to master triads. And for the ukulele I've been sticking with the G Major for the baritone and the C Major for the tenor. And I'm getting better. Ready to tip my toes into minor keys. One lightbulb moment I had recently is that there is a relationship between the Primary Major chords and minor chords. The IV Major chord is just a ii minor 7 when you add the bass. Same with the V and the iii minor 7, and the I with the vi minor 7.
Another great lesson (I always get excited when a new video of yours pops up). I appreciate all the effort you put into each video… and the more you do, the more you have to link to in the description! 😮 Thank you, Gracie 😊🙃😊
Very good options for chord playing in minor key. In one to six positions in all chord combitions three nots are same . This is also a very good theory lesson. Thank you.
Thank you Gracie. Your teaching method is really good. I have understood most of it. However I revisit this video and watch this many times so that it remains in my mind. Finally someone help me understand diatonic chords of minor keys. Keep up the good work best wishes
HI Gracie. I have followed your channel for a while now and I have to say, the way you teach concepts and break them down is absolutely amazing. But coming from a background where I've had to learn music by ear, I find myself admiring to learn sheet music and I've tried reading some books that isn't beginner friendly so I was wondering if you can maybe do a series on sheet music and be providing quizzes on the same😄
You are a wizard. I’m just starting my music theory journey, but I grasp what you are saying when you teach things. Thank you!!…Do you have any videos on modal scales?
Thanks a bunch you are a great teacher, I almost understand , just one point of confusion with the C melodic minor chords as follows B1/2 diminished 7 chord you spelled B D F A ? Yet previously you explained that the 1/2 diminished thing could be expressed as minor 7 flat 5, if that is true shouldn’t the chord be spelled BD E ( or F flat if you like) A. ?????? Any help greatly appreciatedThanks.
Good question. Bm7b5 and B half-diminished 7 are the same chord and they both contain the notes BDFA. To understand why a Bm7b5 chord is BDFA, you need to think about a B major scale. Since B is the root of the chord, that's the scale we need to be thinking in to understand this. A B major scale is B-C#-D#-E-F#-G#-A#. The 1-3-5-7 notes from that scale are B-D#-F#-A#. That would be a B major 7 chord. But to get a minor 7 flat 5 chord, we need to flatten the 3rd, 5th, and 7th, therefore turning it into B-D-F-A. I hope this makes sense.
@GracieTerzian thank you, all these scales open up a world of possibilities. It is a never ending treasure hunt. Thank you my friend, for all the amazing inspiration ❤️ awesome

@@GracieTerzian I am a bass player but your lessons help me a lot. Thank you so much!
Beautiful as always❤
Wow Gracie, another great theory lesson. TY
Good job! Thank you.
What an effortless musical maiden! x
thank you!
Would a relative minor scale work in those chord sequences?
Is A natural minor also called A relative minor? Likewise, is C natural minor the same as C relative minor?
Good thanks!!
I love the way you teach ma
That's my fav. "Eleanor Rigby" by The Beatles is mostly in C nat minor.
:)
There is a scale similar, that you ascend one way and desend different. Spanish phyrigian scale? Awesome skills my friend.
the melodic minor scale is different ascending vs. descending. I don't think Spanish phrygian scale differs ascending vs. ascending
@GracieTerzian thank you, all these scales open up a world of possibilities. It is a never ending treasure hunt. Thank you my friend, for all the amazing inspiration ❤️ awesome
Remember C Natural minor, spells ABE in flats, Ab,Bb,Eb.
❤❤❤
Hi gracie
howdy!
Hi can you explain why in the song lady from Kenny rogers at 2:50 why it hits so melodic what’s going on here?
You ever hear of exotic scale formulas, I'd like to share 19 of them with degrees
First comment woohoo 🎉
