"Textured Vegan Leather" is design to imitate leather being multiple layers with more spongy and porous top layer. Not slick smooth surface like 1970s vinyl seat cover. The difference is the literal shape of material.
Rear end would look a lot better with just circular lights. Not a bad attempt by MG tho. Like a seriously boosted MX-5. 500bhp and sub 4s 0-60 for 50k now is like a roll back to the days when 300bhp+ became accesible to us plebs with the evo and scooby first hitting the scene.

This car costs only 50K and comes well equipped. To get a well equipped Porsche, you have to spend 50K alone on optional extras that should've come as standard. So this MG is a bargain.
Heavy ICE is better than heavy EV because the weight in a ICE will be more important things like stiffness, safety equipment etc, not just a giant chinese battery.

That rear is way too overdesigned and the scissor doors are completely unnecessary. And this whole car looks about as good as the latest Miata if I'm being completely honest here. Not a supercar in a million years, its a sports car at best.
In fairness the doors are pretty long so if they were hinged normally you would have to climb out of the car in a car park. There’s always the issue of when it breaks in the pouring rain.

Actually large performance cars in the Mercedes line up also handle quite well at nearly the same weight. My Mercedes C43 AMG weighs 4084 lbs. While my Tesla model 3 dual motor weighs 4065 lbs. The Cyberster at 4,200 lbs. That's a difference of a good size adult and the Tesla and Mercedes are 4 seat cars. How about an e-class AMG. Etc. The weight is not as damaging as you might think.
I had the chance to test this car. The interior and build quality is abysmal . . . I was told to be the third person to drive it and the guillotine doors already made the most beaten-down sound when closing and if you didn't align it perfectly, the locking noise it would make sounded like inner parts coming loose already.

A Caterham is a sporty car, even an E39 M5 manual is a sport car, a heavy electric lump with automatic everything and automonous features is not a sporty car.

in my eyes this car seems pretty heavy for what it’s trying to be these can weigh over 4,000 pounds (way more than a respective miata or brz), but part of that is probably due to the electric components convertibles such as this are typically lighter, so this probably wouldn’t be ideal for twisty roads due to its weight the rwd model would probably be the better choice (it’d still be heavy but not as bad as the awd model)
the rwd model weighs about 4,100 pounds and the awd model weighs about 300 pounds more an mx5 weighs about 1,700 pounds less, which is typical for a car of this class also the doors aren’t as much of an issue but scissor doors seem unusual for a car like this
also 60k for this seems expensive for that price you could get 2 miatas, maybe 2 brzs, a bmw z4, or maybe a used lotus (all of which seem like the better buy in terms of weight and driving)
This is what a vegan f type would be. The similarities are pretty big, its a 2 door sports car, the interior has that handle thing, its possible to have one with 340 hp. Then its his vegan cousin because its electric meaning it doesn't have that phenomenal sound and its seats are literally vegan

As Matt stated there is nothing to compare it with so for under £60,000 for top spec 4wd sub 3.5 sec 0-60 with a 7 year warranty it's all good. Matbe not all great but the price and spec.

100th anniversary!! Sticking a plastic MG badge on chinese tat does not make it an MG. At least twice the price of a much better MX5. There is a reason nobody else fits scissor doors and its not because they are hard to make. Its because you get sick of waiting for them to open. Ofcourse the lamborghini doors were light but modern doors have to withstand crashes so you cant open them manually. I googled it and the first thing that came up was someone on the MGEV forum who couldn't get into their car! Who in their right mind is going to throw 50k at a chinese EV when for the same money they could get a German sports car?
They didn't exactly make amazing cars when it was British and they went bust. What you on about. Your auto industry is dead. It has a manual open button. You can also charge it if the battery dies.

Your average chinese EV will fail just going to the shops. As for our current automotive industry we make the BEST cars in the world. You may not be able to afford one but nobody with any status would swap a rolls Royce, Bentley, Range Rover or morgan for a cheap chinese piece of crap. And ofcourse 90% of formula 1 cars are designed and built in Britain together with the important components for indy500. And all of the reviews mention waiting for the doors is a pain and none mention a manual option. Wot u talking about?

Anyone seriously calling a model 3 a 'sporty car' has never driven a sporty car. Sports driving is not about straight line speed, it's about driver involvement and fun. A Caterham is a sporty car, even an E39 M5 manual is a sport car, a heavy electric lump with automatic everything and automonous features is not a sporty car.

in my eyes this car seems pretty heavy for what it’s trying to be
these can weigh over 4,000 pounds (way more than a respective miata or brz), but part of that is probably due to the electric components
convertibles such as this are typically lighter, so this probably wouldn’t be ideal for twisty roads due to its weight
the rwd model would probably be the better choice (it’d still be heavy but not as bad as the awd model)
the rwd model weighs about 4,100 pounds and the awd model weighs about 300 pounds more
an mx5 weighs about 1,700 pounds less, which is typical for a car of this class
also the doors aren’t as much of an issue but scissor doors seem unusual for a car like this
also 60k for this seems expensive
for that price you could get 2 miatas, maybe 2 brzs, a bmw z4, or maybe a used lotus (all of which seem like the better buy in terms of weight and driving)

This is a very good bit of Kit. 9/10 Real value for money. Nice interior and exterior. Shortlist for sure. Lots of PHeV s and EV s in the Global Automotive market right now so it's a buyers market. But this is right up there very interesting.

As Matt stated there is nothing to compare it with so for under £60,000 for top spec 4wd sub 3.5 sec 0-60 with a 7 year warranty it's all good. Matbe not all great but the price and spec.
