What exciting plans! My only suggestions would be to switch pants fabrics/patterns to avoid having to match the checks on the front seams of the pants. Using the khaki for that pattern, you could highlight all those seams with lots of topstitching! I’d also like to see Mickey with the checks and the pink Donny with the khaki. (They’re both interchangeable, so great for travel!) The khaki has a bit of a green cast and I adore pink and green together! Just my swinging 60s past cropping up again? Can’t wait to see a makes video with all these! Your fam will have such a great vacay! 💕
Totally agree! I would also do a red binding and strap with the Mickey fabric
Yes I did think about changing it up but I can’t stop thinking about making them in the checked fabric 🙈

Snag tight shorts are great!! They are like thick tights as shorts, so really breathable

Love all of your plans Ruan It does make a huge difference when you stick to a basic colour scheme where everything goes together and is interchangeable.I tried it for the first time for my holiday last summer and I really cut down on my packing.Michelle,Sewing Bunny has a Pietra sew along which is excellent.I look forward to seeing your completed outfits.Good luck keeping the surprise for your boys.😂xxx

Hi Ruan, another vote here for the Snag chub rubs they are fantastic and because they are tights they aren't bulky round your waist, easy to rinse thru and dry to on hols.

Harper cardigan by Sinclair patterns is free, has several lengths (cropped, regular, long and knee) and different sleeve lengths available, is fast and easy and you can choose petite, average or tall! It’s a great pattern.

Fab plans. Chub Rubs from Snag Tights changed my life to wear under dresses and they do some great bright colours

Exciting plans, you’ll love Euro Disney. I love the Pietra pants , I’ve made the wide leg and the shorts and have the tapered ones cut out to make.

Love all the outfits and fabric! Great bum bag ❤! My vote is for the shorter Nora cardigan because it’s summer and would be easier to carry if you take it off. I’ve made the Pietra pants, view B, and it was early in my sewing journey (out of a viscose challis) so I want to go back and make them again - love them so much. I think your fabric choice will be perfect for those! My only fit issue that I’d adjust for the next time is that my front crotch area was too long/baggy, but I almost always have to adjust for that (which I didn’t know back then).

I have made two pairs of Pietra shorts in the last two days. One in Belgian washed linen and the other in a hot pink linen rayon blend similar to your fabric I think. You will love this pattern. Go with your hip measurement. Spot on for me. I never understood why people made the same pattern over and over until now. Making the wide leg pants next.

I did find the pocket attachment a head scratcher. And then it made sense. Lol.
Fantastic plans. If you get time to make another bag. You could interface the outside fabric before quilting. Also interface the lining fabric. In the US we use pellon SF101. I don't know if you have anything like it. It's a woven iron on interfacing. If you want your quilting to pop use the same color thread as you strap if you're using one of the beautiful pre-made straps. Thanks for sharing your plans. Happy sewing!

Great plans. Just a suggestion for another time- I’ve just made Ellie and Mac smooth anti chafing slip shorts in a remnant of viscose jersey and they are so comfortable and a very quick make.

Hi Ruan, your plans are great. I have made the Pietra Pants as shorts, years ago...and they ended up going to the charity shop. I have learnt alot about fitting since then, so maybe it's time I tried them again myself. I'm a big fan of the Tabitha Tee, I have made it as a Tee shirt only tho, it'll be nice in a dress. Gorgeous fabric...it'll look great. I love Tillys sewing books. Your trip is going to be so much fun...the kids will lose their mind!! 😂🎉

How fantastic , your boys are going to be so excited 🥰 We did the same when mine were young, travelled by coach & we didn’t actually tell them until we were half way there! Still can’t believe they didn’t work it out with people wearing Micky ears as they got on😂 My children then organised a surprise trip for all my grandchildren last year. They didn’t know until they all met up at airport. Enjoy your wonderful memory making and your going to look very stylish in those makes

Lovely plans, there is also the pattern emporium grab a cuppa cardigan which I remember you commented on my story that you really liked. Such an easy make but think you've got enough cardigan patterns 😅 different style though that one with long gathered sleeves. I've made a couple of bum bags from free patterns that you might like. One was from Fibre Mood the other one was from Ma Petite Mercerie which is in French but you can just watch the sewalong video for how to make it. Either way, they are both very useful for an active holiday!

Oh! Disney is the best! Have fun. The secret to Disney is having a plan and pacing yourself. Of course, stay hydrated. There is just so much to do. The fireworks are awesome! My favs are It’s A Small World and the Pirates of the Caribbean. The Pietra pants are a nice make. The pockets are a little confusing. Michelle, from the Sewing Bunny, has a sewing along which helped with the pockets. It’s a nice make. The Tabitha dress would be lovely in that floral fabric. Nice and cool. The Micky fabric would be perfect for the cami 😃. I’m a Winnie the Pooh girl 😅. A plain cardigan would be perfect. Having something that goes with everything is always great. Yep, it’s a fanny pack. Don’t ask me why or who came up with that name but it is what it is 🤦. I like your bag. It’s pretty. Thank you for sharing! Your friend Diane ❤.

I’ve made the Ogden so many times that I can’t count …. It really does work with or without the lining …. I’ve lined just the front before, also just bias bound all round and that worked a treat …. It’s my favourite scrap buster now that I’ve hacked the pattern to fit me …. I needed to make the underarm smaller cos I was showing wayyyyy too much boob …. Happy hols clothes sewing!

Loving the plans including the bag. I know it is obvious but please take care with black denim to keep it dry in case of dye transference on the water rides. My black leather bum bag ruined new white shorts in Disney Florida. Just saying 😂. You will have to model this gorgeous capsule wardrobe before your trip!! Happy Sewing 😊. Lynne

Not sure if Mega Babe brand is sold in the UK but their thigh rescue stick is always in my bag in the summer or its shorts under dresses for sure! Love the pink Donny and I might have to copy you 🫣

I have made the Pietra pants…..tapered leg version, but they came out much wider than I expected. I still love them though and I have made 3 pairs. So comfy to wear. Your plans are sterling and super for your planned trip.

Sewing Bunny does a great sew along if you get stuck. I needed her when it came to the pocket construction. However, I’m not a very experienced sewist.

Oh. I love Disneyland. Been there five or six times :) Def. take advantage of the Fast pass for the busiest rides, and do Thunder mountain first thing when it opens (otherwise you’ll be in line for an hour). Can’t wait to go back myself some time. Have fun planning and sewing.

You will love the pietra pants in the dog tooth , they are so comfy & when your out & about sitting on mucky seating etc they don’t show the muck or water splashes etc . I lived in mine last summer & took them to Gran Canaria this feb they look good with trainers & dressed up in heels mine are 7/8 length . X

Hi, very exciting plans although I was a little surprised with your fabric colour choices, I’m sure they will look fabulous but so used to seeing you in brighter colours. It was interested one comment suggesting to swap the tooth fabric for the wide trousers and tend to agree a plain fabric would be nicer for the fitted ones. Anyways looking forward to see them made up and on you for your fabulous holiday❤ xx
Yes I did think about swapping the fabrics but I totally have my heart set on it now. I’m not sure if I’ll look like a chef with those trousers but I’m going to give it a go

I absolutely love all your sewing plans - the Mickey fabric is perfect and you could always make the straps out of the green so that it ties in with the trousers. My only tip for Disney is comfy trainers. Boring I know, but OMG did my feet and legs hurt by the end of the 4 days. You will love it though and I hope you video your boys’ reaction when you give them the surprise. Happy sewing and I look forward to seeing the finished ensembles. Xx

@@theyorkshiresewgirl I made a toile just needed to make slightly larger back darts and reduce back waist by 2cm. They fit beautifully. Can sit comfortably and look very smart
Lovely planning for your big holiday. I love that it all goes together so well. I like th😅e Pietra trouser pattern. I also love the Safira trousers and have made all mine per the pattern length just on the ankle. I’m 5ft 6 for reference. Great idea to have a cardigan cover up. I think if you make outfits you’ll get loads of wear as it’s so easy to get dressed. 😊💕

BTW, I taught bag making classes in So Cal. When soft and Stable came out, I actually took apart some of my fav older bags and replaced the batting with it. Whaaat? 😳 Crazy, right? Yeah, that’s how much I like it. 😎

For our trip to Spain this past winter I made a navy blue Harper Cardigan from Sinclair Patterns (bonus - the pattern is free). I wore that garment almost everyday of the month we were away. It went with all my other me mades and stood in as a ‘robe’ over my pjs on cool mornings. Can’t recommend the pattern enough. I made the mid length version (so it covered my rear end) but there is also a shorter version and a duster length too I think. I had made the Blackwood before but liked this one much better. Fun to see your plans- thanks Ruan!🇨🇦💕

For your bum bag, a foam batting would give it great structure. Here in the US, the brands are Soft and Stable, and Bosal. Take a look for that! Great plans!!

You will love Disneyland Paris! Adam persuaded me to get that Mickey fabric as well and I over ordered by mistake 😂. I think my Hubby and I will end up with matching shirts but I love your idea of a cami! You will certainly need trainers and it can get quite hot around the parks in June so layers will be best. Can't wait to what you make for your trip ❤

Love the outfits! I was thinking that you could highlight the pockets of the pants by adding some piping with your ‘pop’ of colour. Also with your bag you could match the zipper with the strap. Quilting that Micky fabric would make an awesome bag if there’s not enough to make the top. A red zip and strap would look fantastic with it. xx

Lovely trip to look forward to. My daughter and family were there last June. Temperature reached 30° and apparently not really much shade there. Factor 50 required.

I made the Nora out of some french Terry. It is quite a good pattern.
I know everyone swears by the chub rubs from snags but honestly i prefer the Primark cycle shorts there lovely and soft and don't roll up if you get your right size (i size down one but try both and see ). Its fab your staying in one of the main hotels make use of the early morning extra time and go straight to your must do rides to get a head start, the hotel busses can be busy around park opening times so if you can be down earlier to avoid the rush although you can walk it if your feeling like it haha. My other park tips would be is to plan to stay behind after fireworks and let the crowds die down or leave before the fireworks finish because it turns into a grumpy old man mosh pit situation with everyone trying to get out and its unpleasant. I don't want to be a Debbie downer but the other thing to be aware of is pickpockets unfortunately it is an issue there at times and not everyone is aware about it. Lastly we always bring snacks from home as nice treats and drinks are expensive so might as well save a few quid and bring it with you

I made the pietra shorts last year and they are amazing. Such a lovely sew. Love the way the pockets come together. They will look amazing in the dog tooth. That outfit I love already. Ooo yes that flowery fabric is beautiful.
Love the safiya trousers. So comfy, I have made a few pairs. Love the khaki fabric. Awww a micky ogden. 🤞 Or just bias bind it instead of lining it maybe. I've never made it and wondered why it needed so much fabric.

I did viscose jersey tab t dress love it and prefer to my cotton jersey one. I used elastic instead of the tie which is great and comfy ❤

Hi. All your plans are ace. I'm a bit jealous but I was surprised you didn't mention the Marlo Cardigan. I'm sure you've made that and it might work with all your outfits. I made the Nora cardigan once but had to give it away as it comes up VERY oversized!!

One thing to keep in mind is it always seems like there are rides where you will get wet. You might want fabrics that dry quickly for the amusement park.

Chubb rubs from snag tights is the way forward, I never wore dresses in hot times because of 😉…since buying the cool chub rubs I wear dresses all the time now win win 🙌

Love the first outfit!! I would make a short or cropped cardigan, easier to stuff into a backpack and to tie around your waist. A long cardigan will hang down low or bunch around your waist if you decide to tie it. Someone mentioned the Marlo cardigan which I think would be really cute with your outfits.

I've heard the small houndstooth called "puppy tooth" but I don't know if that's the technical term 😁. My old cat with cancer is hanging in there and I've finally got some home care for my old mum so I guess I'm doing ok. I mean, it's not a trip to Euro Disney but it's ok lol.

Ruan, after having shoulder surgery a cross body bag is awesome. But before you add more wadding, do a test run for 8 hours with weight in it.

I've seen Pru Leath wearing some dresses that are very bright and patterned on the front and black on the back, so if you don't have enough of the fabric for the dress (outfit #2) you could do that.

I do love the harper but fancied something a little looser and boxy maybe 🤔
Harper Cardi, the Marlo, the Grab a Cuppa Cardi. Are my go-to cardi's... Marlo with that cable knit would make a"grandfather" Cardi.... It's a little oversized. The Harper like good in everyone and so fast and easy. The Grab-a-cuppa has dropped shoulders.

Love all of your planned makes. I would like to give my recommendation for Snag chub rub shorts too. I think cycling shorts would make the "nether region" a bit hot and moist 🤭🤔You don't want a sweaty minge!!!! I used to always wear shorts or leggings under my maxi dresses until I found Snag so I am speaking from personal experience! They aren't the sexiest bit of kit but who cares about that anyway?!
