June makes and July plans

- A little catch up on what I've been sewing in June (not much) and what I am thinking of sewing in July (far too much)
Any help in deciding whether I should make a shirt dress or shorts with my starfish fabric would be gratefully received! Or suggestions for an entirely different garment.

Thank you so much.....I think I'll still 'insert a picture' now and again, just for the nostalgia 😁😁😁. I really enjoyed the challenge of making those, but I'll be doing a couple of simpler makes next, to give my brain a rest 😂😂

I love your videos! You’ve done great work. I’ve made the McCalls shirt dress recently with the slimmer skirt, but chose to flare the skirt to an A line shape and I loved it. Make note of the back gathers. I didn’t like those, so I chose to put in darts. I’ll be playing around more with this pattern, but I really liked the finished dress. Happy sewing! 💖

I've made those trousers twice... Making the pockets took longer than assembling the rest of the pieces! But they are my most-worn trousers (made from a tablecloth!!)
I completely agree! I felt as if I'd been sewing for days and I'd only got two pockets on 😆. But like you, I love them and they are going to get a lot of wear. Love that you made yours from a tablecloth, that's amazing 😃😍

Is there any shirt dress patterns that are drop waisted so the tiers start at hip level? Also you are the 1st vlogger I've seen that's shown a prima pattern!! I thought they were taboo or something 😂 I've got loads! Keep up the enthusiasm and keep spreading the joy. ❤
Oh the prima August 2024 latest pattern is a princess seam shirt dress, you could adapt it ? Love the bag too 🥰

I love the Prima patterns, made a few in the past. Maybe the ...er...younger vloggers don't buy Prima 🤷♀️.
Yes I saw the latest pattern. I'm going to have a crack at making the waistcoat version first so I can get a reasonable fit.

Came because I wanted to tell you you’ve got a mug perched on top of your sewing machine and I hope it’s empty, stayed because I want you to move in next door and be my best friend 😂
What a nice comment, that's so lovely 😍. It is an empty mug and it's from my favourite cafe in Manchester, Nibble ☕️🍰. I'd love to have a best friend next door, we'd have a blast 😅😅. Until that happens, I'm trying to convert as many of my unsuspecting friends as I can to sewing 😂😂😂😂
No, no, can you be my best friend! But I live in Perth, Western Australia, so we can’t live next door. Love your sense of humour, your presentation is so fun. We are similar ages and I agree about the gathers at the waist. I’ve made that shirt dress, and it wasn’t the best. New subscriber.
If you can set your camera/phone more level with you shoulder height/torso it will be easier to show of all your nice and fun things.
