He wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't getting stunned by fireballs too lmao But I think the real boss is those rock lizards that'll just truck you off a ledge
I like to play Yhorm as backup for Siegward. I try to take aggro away from him as much as possible while letting him do all the damage. My precious little onion boy was so serious about carrying out his duty to a friend, there's no way I'm taking that away from him.

19:11 LOOK MUM! I MADE IT IN THE VIDEO!! Also thanks for pointing out something I meant to write, but forgot. Dude does less damage then the tutorial hollows on the way to him, which is a good thing, because it means you aren't punished too hard for getting hit 34:26 I think I wrote this? Sounds like something I'd write. 56:13 Pretty sure this is my comment. More health for all ds3 bosses pls 1:03:17 LOTR is damn hard read . Maths is easy 1:10:03 This is DEFINITELY me. So proud of that analogy Great video. Big thanks Lad I just realised now I gotta do this for SOTE. RIP my afternoon I guess
If you were mentioned multiple times, I'd guess it's because you wrote about like... all the bosses, and those comments always appear at the top of the voter pile. Very safe ones to go to when I'm not finding anything from other comments - I appreciate them a lot ^^
I knew the big three of DS3 were Nameless King, Midir, and Friede, but goddamn I was not expecting Friede to get a score exceeding the Orphan of Kos. (Orphan had 9.36/10)
Beating Friede at SL1 is probably my proudest Souls accomplishment. It took quite a while but fully learning phase 3 and executing perfectly was so satisfying to do. Unfortunately I have yet to beat the Demon Prince at SL1; I think I find that fight much harder than most people.
I fully agree about Demon Prince. On my first playthroughs of each of the souls games (Played 1 to taurus, beat 3, beat 1, beat 2 in that order) Demon Prince took me the most tries of all the bosses across the series, at 14 attempts. And even to this day, he's just about the only boss that is nearly guaranteed to kill me at least once.
I was a elden ring giga sweat and i was able to beat most bosses in under 5 attempts (i beat demon prince first try) but friede took me like 1 and a half hours of nonstop attempts she was so tough
@@generalock3015 That's fair, I haven't fought them since ER came out, been a couple years for sure. Friede is a tricky one, she's super fast and pressures you non-stop in phase 3. Such a good boss
The Dancer thing with the music is due to the time signature. All but her OST is in 4/4, while hers is as 3/3. The difference of one beat throws people off hard
Is the Dancer's ost really the only one in 3/4 in the entirety of DS3?! This is strange, cause in Elden Ring, there are a ton of tracks with those time signatures, like Lansseax, Morgott, Dancing Lion or Godskin Apostles. It's interesting
@@ThePontiff113 You're right, it's not. That Game Theory video is the most musically illiterate pile of stinking bullcr*p I've ever seen, and I hate seeing this misinformation circulate. Dancer's track is far from being the only track in 3/4 in the soundtrack, in fact most Dark Souls 3 boss tracks are written in 3. Here's the list of DS3 boss soundtracks that are either straight in 3/4 or incorporate a 3 feel in some way: Iudex Gundyr (starts off as a slow 4/4 but the added triplets on the violins change the feel to 3/4 or 12/8 and at certain points to 6/8 or 12/8) Crystal Sages (3/4) Deacons of the Deep (3/4) Abyss Watcher (3/4) Pontiff Sulyvahn (3/4) Yhorm the Giant (3/4) Aldritch, Devourer of Gods (3/4 with a very low bpm or 6/4) Dancer of the Boreal Valley (3/4) Dragonslayer Armour (6/8) Old Demon King (3/4) Oceiros, the Consumed King (3/4) Twin Princes (starts off as 4/4 but the fast triplets on the violins and the harpsichord push it to 12/8) Nameless King (3/4, second phase could be written as 12/8) Soul of Cinder (3/4) Champion's Gravetender (3/4) Demon Prince (3/4, second phase is more 6/8 or 12/8) Halflight, Spear of the Church (4/4 for the first phase but 3/4 for the second) Darkeater Midir (3/4) Slave Knight Gael (starts off as a slow 4/4 but the added triplets on the violin change the feel to 3/4 or 12/8, second and third phases are clearly 6/8 or 12/8) That's almost the entire soundtrack in 3/4, 6/8 or 12/8. The only prominent tracks in 4/4 are Vordt and Sister Friede. That's why those two tracks feel different from the rest of the soundtrack. Dancer is hard because her animations are intentionally unnatural and wonky-looking, it has nothing to do with the soundtrack being in 3/4 or her animation "beats". The idea that her attacks mess you up because she attacks off beat is also nonsensical because no boss ever in any Souls game attacks in tandem with the music anyway.
You don’t know how happy I became when I noticed my own thoughts were used in the video (The whole “I adore Yhorm”). You truly made my day, thanks Billy!!
Finally a poll that has Friede as the hardest. I personally think none of the DS3 bosses hold a candle to her. 3rd phase is just nuts and she is the only boss from DS3 that would be somewhat challenging if put in Elden Ring.
Yeah i was able to beat every single boss easily before i ran into her and she took me over a hour of fighting to learn everything else was a breeze w a little hiccups with midair and gael
RTSR, Red TearStone Ring, and it might explain why they found the sage more difficult. Raises attack while at low hp, so even getting clipped by a clone's spell might be enough to kill.
Little tip for people having a hard time on Crystal Sage, the clones have 1 hp, so throwing knives are a very easy way to deal with the clones before rushing the main boss :)
I just picked up ds3 on sale and i gotta say the gap between friede and the next hardest boss for me was massive shes easily one of my favorite fromsoft bosses
The deacons will always have a special place in my heart. DS3 was my very first soulsborne and with no real game knowledge, the deacons put me to rest relentlessly as I tried to defeat them with the CORVIAN GREATSCYTHE :'D
I didn't manage to fully express my thought on the Elden Ring community ranking, but I still hope my comment on the form will be read in the video :) EDIT: I did submit a second response, thanks to Bayle changing my opinion on who my favorite boss was
Great stuff as always. Thank you a ton for including the communities thoughts on the bosses. Most other people who do these just tell you their own thoughts. so you not only giving your thoughts but also includingselect community members thoughts? 11/10
Im here to defend my love, Aldrich. First of all, the atmosphere is immaculate. Mixed in with the haunting music that is easily one of the most memorable OSTs in all of soulsborne for me. The lower half of his body being this sluggish abomination, while his face seems fragile and soft with the glwoing crown. I get the frustration with the magic projectiles, especially the giant arrow wave but it was never threatening for me cuz just a simple run gets you out of the way. I really enjoyed him on my ng cycle and i still do. Also, i believe his design is one of the best in the game by far.
So the comment about the SL1 Crystal Sage struggl is mine, and RTSR means the Red TearStone Ring. Yea, I was so stuck on Sage, I did Dancer and Oceros b4 the sage xD.
Surprised you didn't go for champion gundyr at that point to get the prisioner's chain Also, i can see that Big struggle, Sage can decimate players with low HP, SL1 means poor amount of HP, soo that end result is something i can see hapening
@@jajasking9652 My slots were pretty full tbh. 1. RTSR 2. Chloranthy 3. Flynn's 4. Blue Tearstone I had beaten Gundyr but was struggling against Greatwood. I have the weirdest struggles fr.
I like half-light, I really enjoy getting summoned into it as the boss. I also get happy when I realize how close I am to Gael. These 2 small details make me pretty hype when I'm running up to the fog gate :)
I cant believe Billy read that Champion Gravetender boss comment completely straight as if it were dead serious completely oblivious to the fact that the person was obviously trolling, I would have thought the R.O.B. part would have been a dead giveaway that none of that was meant to be taken seriously and was merely played up for theatrics, especially the transparent bait with the Sif remark.
I never beat the whole game, but everytime I get stuck I'd decide to try the Dancer, but on my last playthrough I defeated her before reaching either Yhorm or Aldrich. I was so proud of myself.
4:36 - in my case, the highlight was NG+, equipping the sister friede scythes, and becoming a goddess of destruction as i whirlwinded through them in a gory dance of death!
A tip for Wolnir to make him even more easy; you can attack his bracelets before grabbing the item. This often leads to breaking the bracelet before he can even move, and if you have enough DPS or just raw damage you can break the second one after a single hand slam. Other than that the real reason Wolnir is difficult for some people is because 1. They underestimate the fog. 2. They aren’t patient enough, it’s usually when it’s down to the last bracelet on his right hand because it’s sitting right by the fog. And often he’ll move upwards while you’re attacking it and die from the fog. Wolnir rewards patience, which is something a lot of souls players lack 😭 I am subject to this as well but I’ve gotten better at being patient.
I swear that fog still gets me 💀 Idk which dificulty did i give to wolnir, 2-3/10 i think, now i defo think is 3/10, is a slighty less severe case of a call beyond move or that one hole on that one fight, the fight is almost free, but there's one near, if not instadeath threat on the fight that can catch you off guard, but the existance of that insta death threat makes any fight at least a 3/10 on dificulty ( except for vanguard rat, but you need to get hit a bunch of times for the petrification )
@@jajasking9652 I think the difficulty ranking should be looked at from two perspectives, a brand new players, and an experienced player on repeat playthroughs. New players are much more likely to struggle more, and experienced players are more likely to not struggle much if not at all on Wolnir. It’s probably a 2-3 out of 10. Maybe a 2 for experienced players and like a 5 or 6 for new players just because of the fog. Once you figure out the one gimmick there’s not much else that leaves any sort of challenge
Just finished DS3 for the first time and i was so hyped for the pontiff bc everyone hyped him up as being hard. Nope. I just stood close to his crowned jewels and he never hit me. And his stand was no different given that every time it attacks it goes right back to him. But he is why i love Rellana so much, she’s everything he could’ve been.
Nameless king felt pretty natural for me. There was a meme about northernlion not being able to beat him, and then that seemed to be the concensus of the community. Once i fought him for a while i thought it was fun.
47:22 I agree SO much. Abyss watchers fucked me up so bad. I keep track of my attempts usually, and I think the only actions that have taken me more attempts in any games were Maliketh (73 atts) underleveled Valiant gargoyles (96 atts), bayle (124 atts), hitless Trial of the Fool (didnt track attempts) and consort Radahn (stopped counting past 500 but I still haven’t beaten him and I’ve kinda given up). Abyss watchers took me a bit over 50 attempts, and I doubt I could beat them in any less than 30 on a subsequent playthrough.
I find it interesting that alot of people dont talk how ancient wyrm was made to teach the new players in dark souls "DRAGONS HEAD IS THEIR WEAKNESS" with you litterally stabbing their head when they didnt take damage from the feet. As such Midir and first phase in nameless king (two battles that comes after) shouldnt be so farfetched that the developers were thinking players would remember
Man your videos really help me. I’ve got a new baby boy who’s not letting my wife and I sleep. Been falling asleep to your videos since he was born. Love your content man, thanks for all the hard work.
Back when I participated in the poll I hadn’t played DS3 for a while and chose Oceiros as the hardest boss because I had particularly bad memories of that fight. However, upon revisiting the game Friede is harder by a wide margin. Still haven’t managed to beat her on my own in this last playthrough. Oceiros may still be the fight where I hate to fail the most while Friede remains fun even after an hour or more of trying.
6:40 going into it i was aware of the gimmick but i was also aware of what can trigger it so i unequiped my weapons so i could plunge with my fist and one shot
1:42:50 i actually really disagree! but i guess it depends on what heavy weapon you use… as someone who played with guts greastsword through the entirety of his first run, honestly, it was my best friend for friede’s fight. i staggered her non stop and it made it quite easy (i beat her in 6th try). weirdly enough, it was AWFUL during the abyss watcher fight. i was way too slow and couldn’t stop him, the fight took me around 30-40 tries
I found a place to stand on some stairs and shot arrows at Ancient Wyvern on my first encounter; only when it flew off and didnt give me xp did O realize I wasnt supposed to do that. Very funny experience. Did it again when he showed up later, after the scaffolding, completely unaware I missed the spectacle. Was so odd to watch it phase out of existence.
before i played the ds3 dlcs, i easily thought nameless king was the hardest boss of the game but i have now played the dlcs and i think that midir and friede are a thousand times harder. friede felt like a fair malenia with her extremely fast attacks but felt very fun and easy to stagger and backstab. midir is my personal hardest because of the massive healthbar even with hitting the head but all the fire attacks are very fun to dodge and i still find him as a top tier dragon fight right next to bayle and he and friede are in my top 10 favorites. gael was a lot easier than i expected but he is still my favorite in the series
Yea midir and friede are without question the hardest bosses I'm dark souls 3. Nameless king then demon princes with I guess Gael rounding out the top 5 although he's honestly very easy even on a 1st playthru.
I think she truly began the boss evolution for fromsoft. Maybe Nameless king but we've has delayed attacks since demons souls. Ppl just forget about them.
Midir has a kryptonite, and it's pestilent mist. He frequently stays in one place for a long time, sometimes even for the duration of the spell. Friede is just a nightmare. Even without the second phase, she would probably be at least an average Soulsborne boss. But then you have that third phase where she becomes an Estus destroying machine. Easily the hardest boss of this game for me. I only finally beat her for the first time after summoning Gael and another player. Funny enough, the final boss of vanilla DS3 never gave me much trouble. But Aldrich turns me into Ned Beatty from Deliverance. Just brutal, and that raining arrow attack is just so damn unfair.
Fair list overall. I’d put yhorm, oceiros, demon princes, and nameless king much lower than their placements here, but friede and midir at #1 and 2 is where I’d have them too (followed by sulyvahn and twin princes at 3 and 4)
Exact same fohyped them upr me and also with soul of cinder, I was disappointed by the lack of a third phase from each considering how much the community
Tbh, I used to kill the Demon Prince that gives me the lasers last at first, but now I love the extra challenge of the one with the meteors! The whole fight is incredible, though!
I STRUGGLED with a lot of bosses in this game. I just recently beat Midir in NG++, and imo it's easily the hardest boss in the game. Funny enough about Halflight: in my NG++ run, I got someone that was either AFK, or they purposely were letting me win. Either way, shoutout to them.
Gael at 4 was the biggest suprise probably, to me him and Friede are interchangeable at 1 and 2 depending on the day. Midir and Nameless get a lot easier once you get used to the well telegraphed movesets, meanwhile Gael and Friede, i'll never get used to their moves, especially Friede. The only reason Friede isn't far above everyone else to me is that she is cheeseable with backstabs even tho it's still a pretty hard strategy to implement. No question tho those are clearly the 4 hardest bosses in the game and i can see that these are interchangeable to every individual playstyle, but it makes sense that most of the time 1 of these 4 will be named as the hardest boss in the game by any player.
It’s weird I never died more than 4/5 times to Soul of cinder or Gael, yet I always hear people say how difficult the fights were. I died way more times to Pontiff Sullyvan than either of them. And then in the DLC I died to Friede more times than any other boss combined. Even Midir I was able to beat with probably a quarter of the attempts than Friede. Also crazy everyone struggled with nameless king and I beat him my 2nd try on my first ever playthrough, I still think I’ve never died to his first phase to this day
Everyone always says Vordt is easy but I first tried Gundyr and then proceeded to have Vordt take 29 attempts (2nd most in the entire game after Gael at 39). I also think I did the dlc slightly underleveled (finished the game at lvl 83) and still fights like the demon prince, Sister Friede, Nameless King and Midir took less attempts than Vordt. Also the demon prince moveset is so fun and intuitive. Playing perfect and beating the second phase when I had a single estus left after the first phase on my firts playthrough has to be one of my fondest ds3 memories.
While not the hardest slave knight Gael 100% deserves the title as the best. My absolute favorite boss from any game, he's got it all, style, music, and setting. Peak boss design
Why does Midir always get the "best dragon fight" when Kalameet exists? Kalameet could grab you in that psychic attack, then now every hit damn near becomes a two shot. Very hard window of dodge, and can happen at any time of the fight.
Pontiff bugged out and stood still during his second phase and i purposely sought out cheese for aldrich because of second phase arrows. After over 100 tries, it was the dancer that ended my lv1 run. I lv1 ran demons souls for the first tike before i came back to ds3. I leveled up after 10 more tries 😅
I wish I knew about the voting, I would’ve voted Vordt as my favorite. Is he objectively the best? Not even close. But in terms of the first time playing experience, Vordt was so much fun. He wasn’t unfair but still a little bit of a challenge, introduces frostbite, cool design and ost, and he makes you feel like you absolutely can beat this game no matter how hard it gets whereas tough bosses can be demoralizing sometimes. By the end of the fight I felt like “Yeah this is probably going to be my favorite dark souls game.” And that is something Vordt will always have to me over every other boss Edit: He left such a mark on me that I switched from using strength based Greatswords and ultra greatswords to Vordts Hammer and was the first time I played through the game with a hammer
This is just reminding me that I really need to go back and really finish DS3. I finished the base game and played a smidge of the Painted World dlc but never did the rest of the DLC. Technically Dark Souls 3 was the first Soulsborne game I played, though not the first one I beat. That title goes to the superior game Bloodborne. I struggled a LOT with DS3 when I first tried it. I died constantly. I had literally no goddamn idea what I was doing. Iudex Gundyr clapped my cheeks so hard that I am still feeling it to this day. I also have a hard time playing it nowadays because of just how much it feels like a weird Elden Ring prototype in some ways. Like, last time I played it was just for a few hours before I went "Man... I just want to play Elden Ring" and then I played Elden Ring instead. It certainly doesn't help that, as you said, the first third or so of DS3 is just... meh. A big ol pile of MEH. Maybe one day I'll actually go back and finish it... I really want to fight Slave Knight Gael in particular.
I agree that Nameless King is kind of easy once you completely memorize his dodge timings, I’ve even had 2nd phases where he only hits me once, but that’s coming from someone who has not only beaten him with like 10 characters and various new games, but he was also how I maxed out the sun bros covenant for the miracles achievement. I’d put my sign outside his fight and I helped tons of people murder him. I’ve literally killed that boss probably 100-200 times. Plus, in relation to the rest of Dark Souls III, Nameless King is 100% top 5. I’d rank him a 6/10 simply due to the sheer amount of focus he still requires me.
It's funny how deacons go from one of the easiest bosses to literally impossible depending on what kind of run you're doing, since its a dps check low damage runs like kirk armor only can get giga clapped. Theres also this crazy research someone did on what order and position the curse deacons spawn in but I can't find it right now.
eeeeehy I think that's my comment at the end of the Midir segment. I shoulda screenshot my thoughts back then just to make sure lmao 😅. As I said in the full comment, salutations from Italy!
I've beaten DS3 many times. Each with a different build in mind. But to this day... I cannot beat Sullyvahn. Well, kinda. My first run ever (in DS3 and souls in general) came to a halt when I reached him. I was convinced this boss is impossible to beat. Eventually, I DID beat him, but I have no idea how. Probably luck. Every other run since then I ALWAYS summon 2 NPCs against him, and wipe the floor with him, since when he doesn't non-stop combo me, but someone else, I'm free to finally get a hit in. That is the only way I've ever beaten him from then onwards. I really don't understand how it is possible to beat him alone (without parrying). I mean, I did, yeah, but that had to be fluke. It's simply impossible to actually plan for a victory like that. And before I'll be told to "git gud", I usually beat most of the bosses with no healing flask needed, since I fought them so many times, I can beat them in my sleep. Even Midir and Gael. Not Friede, but at least I can still beat her "first try". But Pontiff... I, for the life of me, cannot.
It surprises me that Deacons of the Deep are considered so easy as a whole. I think Wolnir and Ancient Wyvern beat them out because he's easy regardless of build, whereas the Deacons can be a serious DPS check. When I first went with an int/dex build, I actually struggled a bit with them since I wasn't causing enough damage nor was I staggering the big ones enough, which let curse build up. Both them and Crystal Sage proved rather difficult during that playthrough because of my low damage output comparatively (and that dang magic resistance)
Sister Friede, Nameless King and Midir are so satisfy to beat. For friede you have to learn her moveset, the positioning and when to strike and how to punish her after she finised her attack, nothing more than solo and win against the 3 fking phases of sister friede, she did give me a couple of hard time, but when everything is clicked she feel kinda easy and fair, ngl she by far my favorite boss in ds3. Nameless King is kinda skill issue and panic issue boss, the boss just straight up challenge you, you can keep calm, you lose. The first phase of Nameless King, which is King of the Storm is kinda underated, i've seen people complain about the camera, but with me it's not the big of problem, first phase is a great warm up of phase 2, you have to face to face with the chicken, otherwise you're cooked, and after that you have to face with the NK's delay attack which is kinda brilliant, you cant panic roll everything, the boss just punish you if you're not positioning and not learn how to dodge properly. The phase 2 is bussin', the hype, the music is so great that you can imagine you, a human being challenging the god. And the phase 2 is when Nk do a lot of delay attack, you panic roll, you see the bonfire, the boss itself told you to not be greedy, be patient and wait for the right moment to strike. Ngl NK in my first playthrough gave me lots of trouble than SF and Midir, but when i conquered NK, the feelings are undescribable. Last is Midir, i think Midir is the easiest boss compare to those 2 but midir also gave me the vibe of victory, especially in my first playthrough, Midir make me thought like i'm fighting the real dragon. Midir is Agressive, spaming, hit like a truck and fair, Midir told me how to positioning to optimistic the attack window during the attack change, sometime in Phase 2 if you too far away, midir will charge up his canon firing the laser toward us, it's just feel enormous, proparelly one of the coolest Japanese shit stuff. Overall, i wish i could erased my memory to face them like the first time, this 3 bosses gave me a tough time, but after i beat this game too many time, they just not feel the same, the feeling goes from impossible, not fair, "i've dodged that" to easy, fair and "i didn't dodge the attack correctly". But overall, these 3 bosses are my favorite of ds3.
I found Aldritch a joke of a boss. You can just run right under him and he cannot hit you, if you can dish out enough damage you can kill him in less than 40 seconds sub level 60
Champion gundyr seems to reward aggression and i was able to beat him in sort of an ineverted way. I attacked during his windups instead of trying to punish after his attacks.
Well to be fair, Vordt has some pretty steep competition. Between Soul of Cinder, Abyss Watchers, Nameless King, Dragonslayer Armor, and the DLC you've got Gael, Midir, and the Demon Prince. Frankly I'd have been surprised if Vordt did top anyone's favorite boss list. Like the best strat is to stick to his ass and smack it til death. Not to mention I often here people dislike Vordt for his charge attack, which isn't that bad compared to Ocires'.
Not entirely done with my first full playthrough yet (Lothric, SOC and most of the Ringed City bosses still to go) but my god Sister Friede being the top of the pile for hardest bosses comes as absolutely no surprise! I hold no shame in resorting to summoning Gael to finally defeat her because she was absolutely nightmarish.
Damn, can you tell me what build you are using here? Some of these clips I see you doing 1k damage per hit with twinblades, i can never get the damage that high
Crystal sage was a huge pain for me, but a lot of that is from her horrendous runback. (possibly the worst in all of ds3?) She got way easier for me when I learned to use throwing knives on her clones, though.
A lot of us have that one Souls boss or bosses that we are just complete garbage at fighting compared to many others. Cristal Sage is that boss for me. Malenia who?! This lady SOMEHOW kills me almost 20 times EVERY playthrough! And I always overlevel! This is the only souls boss that might have actually killed me around the same times as the first area I've ever done, which was Yharnam. I was stuck there for weeks, I started hearing "AWAY!! AWAY!!" in my nightmares until I beat Gascoigne and got the hell out of London. I also die once usually to the Deacons, so I guess it's because I suck against magic in DS3. I just started a new game of DS3 after finishing Demon's Souls for the first time (trying to get back in shape for the Elden Ring DLC by marathoning the others before buying it) and I'm dreading that fight. Right now I'm grinding before fighting Vordt and I'm already past level 30. I still don't think I'll ever beat the Sage in a reasonable amount of tries. Let's hope I learned something after all this time.
The Greatwood isn't one of my favorites or anything, but I've never disliked it even on repeat playthroughs. It has a cool design, and dropping into the pit during the fight is pretty cool. There's something satisfying about targeting the weak spots and popping them. Sure it's easy, but not every boss needs to be super hard. I like it. Not my favorite or anything, don't get me wrong. But I don't have anything against this boss. The only boss I think I actually dislike is the wolf in the Ariandel dlc.

Aren't Yhorm and Twin Princes in 3/4 too?
@@randorandom9494 No, you're definitely right
That and she attacks off beat too sometimes.
Here's the list of DS3 boss soundtracks that are either straight in 3/4 or incorporate a 3 feel in some way:
Iudex Gundyr (starts off as a slow 4/4 but the added triplets on the violins change the feel to 3/4 or 12/8 and at certain points to 6/8 or 12/8)
Crystal Sages (3/4)
Deacons of the Deep (3/4)
Abyss Watcher (3/4)
Pontiff Sulyvahn (3/4)
Yhorm the Giant (3/4)
Aldritch, Devourer of Gods (3/4 with a very low bpm or 6/4)
Dancer of the Boreal Valley (3/4)
Dragonslayer Armour (6/8)
Old Demon King (3/4)
Oceiros, the Consumed King (3/4)
Twin Princes (starts off as 4/4 but the fast triplets on the violins and the harpsichord push it to 12/8)
Nameless King (3/4, second phase could be written as 12/8)
Soul of Cinder (3/4)
Champion's Gravetender (3/4)
Demon Prince (3/4, second phase is more 6/8 or 12/8)
Halflight, Spear of the Church (4/4 for the first phase but 3/4 for the second)
Darkeater Midir (3/4)
Slave Knight Gael (starts off as a slow 4/4 but the added triplets on the violin change the feel to 3/4 or 12/8, second and third phases are clearly 6/8 or 12/8)
That's almost the entire soundtrack in 3/4, 6/8 or 12/8.
No boss has ever made me feel strange with my life choice like the Smelter demon. Both version in DS2 really shook my soul up
Finally a poll that has Friede as the hardest.
Storm ruler jogged so Yhorm could walk so Rykard could run
DeS storm ruler :(
Rykard so underrated
RTSR, Red TearStone Ring, and it might explain why they found the sage more difficult. Raises attack while at low hp, so even getting clipped by a clone's spell might be enough to kill.
Little tip for people having a hard time on Crystal Sage, the clones have 1 hp, so throwing knives are a very easy way to deal with the clones before rushing the main boss :)
Midir is a monster hunter boss.
You can't lock on, it has lasers, and you aim for the head, and as an avid MH fan, i love it
I just picked up ds3 on sale and i gotta say the gap between friede and the next hardest boss for me was massive shes easily one of my favorite fromsoft bosses
You know what else is massive?
The deacons will always have a special place in my heart. DS3 was my very first soulsborne and with no real game knowledge, the deacons put me to rest relentlessly as I tried to defeat them with the CORVIAN GREATSCYTHE :'D
I didn't manage to fully express my thought on the Elden Ring community ranking, but I still hope my comment on the form will be read in the video :)
EDIT: I did submit a second response, thanks to Bayle changing my opinion on who my favorite boss was
59:00 bro predicted ksi
I feel validated to see that people think Friede is the hardest boss in DS3. For me, she is in my top 5 in all the Soulsborne games
For me, Dragonslayer Armor was my wall boss. I had to literally summon in that one NPC to beat him. It didn't help that I was super greedy at the time
how
@@sneaky5141 guess im just bad. Ironically, struggled more with Dragonslayer Armor that Slave Knight Gael. Use that info as you wish.
I only struggled on dragon slayer armor because I was getting nuked half the fight
I beat him first try the reanimation in ringed city took me like 10 tries tho 😂
40:40 you dont actually have to kill Argo, he dies when you kill Halflight if you dont attack him, making the fight much easier
Great stuff as always. Thank you a ton for including the communities thoughts on the bosses. Most other people who do these just tell you their own thoughts. so you not only giving your thoughts but also includingselect community members thoughts? 11/10
Hey Billy Science Guy we all Waiting on Boss ranking and Area ranking on Code Vein
Honestly, would hit up the Dancer too if I had to pick between that or the first third of DS3.
Surprised you didn't go for champion gundyr at that point to get the prisioner's chain
Also, i can see that Big struggle, Sage can decimate players with low HP, SL1 means poor amount of HP, soo that end result is something i can see hapening
@@jajasking9652 My slots were pretty full tbh.
1. RTSR
2. Chloranthy
3. Flynn's
4. Blue Tearstone
I had beaten Gundyr but was struggling against Greatwood. I have the weirdest struggles fr.
BTSR 💀🤣🤣 worlds first comedy SL1 run @@aayushdasgupta9754
I swear that fog still gets me 💀
Idk which dificulty did i give to wolnir, 2-3/10 i think, now i defo think is 3/10, is a slighty less severe case of a call beyond move or that one hole on that one fight, the fight is almost free, but there's one near, if not instadeath threat on the fight that can catch you off guard, but the existance of that insta death threat makes any fight at least a 3/10 on dificulty ( except for vanguard rat, but you need to get hit a bunch of times for the petrification )
Mine was the second comment on Lothric/Lorian and having Billy say it’s eloquent enough I should start my own channel… love that for me
It's always interesting to see what bosses the community found easy or difficult compared to the ones that I found easy and hard.
Deacons can be a real bitch on a bare fist run where you cant just kill them instantly, but other than that easily the easiest boss in DS3
Good to hear I'm not the only one who beat Sister Friede before Pontiff Sulyvahn. The rest of the game felt so easy after beating her
I find it interesting that alot of people dont talk how ancient wyrm was made to teach the new players in dark souls "DRAGONS HEAD IS THEIR WEAKNESS" with you litterally stabbing their head when they didnt take damage from the feet.
8:45 if u let wolnir get all the way towards the back wall he can only hurt u with his hands, the gas has a likit
Oceiros may still be the fight where I hate to fail the most while Friede remains fun even after an hour or more of trying.
letsgoo!!! first time i got to participate, it was super fun!
Gael standing below nameless king and sister Friede is unfathomable to me
Truly love your videos. I’m actually playing this game and just defeated the Rotted Greatwood.
6:40 going into it i was aware of the gimmick but i was also aware of what can trigger it so i unequiped my weapons so i could plunge with my fist and one shot
1:42:50 i actually really disagree! but i guess it depends on what heavy weapon you use…
as someone who played with guts greastsword through the entirety of his first run, honestly, it was my best friend for friede’s fight. i staggered her non stop and it made it quite easy (i beat her in 6th try). weirdly enough, it was AWFUL during the abyss watcher fight. i was way too slow and couldn’t stop him, the fight took me around 30-40 tries
Friede is my favorite boss of all time!
I think she truly began the boss evolution for fromsoft. Maybe Nameless king but we've has delayed attacks since demons souls. Ppl just forget about them.
Great video as always, Billy!
I’d put yhorm, oceiros, demon princes, and nameless king much lower than their placements here, but friede and midir at #1 and 2 is where I’d have them too (followed by sulyvahn and twin princes at 3 and 4)
It’s funny how I have never lost to Gael, but then I get my ass handed to me by bosses like the great wood sometimes
From really outdid themselves with this one.
The dancer is the easiest boss in the game imo. I’ve never died to her. I genuinely don’t understand why people find her to be a hard boss.
Exact same fohyped them upr me and also with soul of cinder, I was disappointed by the lack of a third phase from each considering how much the community
Friede definitely deserves the top spot, even after all the times I’ve fought her I still struggle with the 3rd phase.
Billy S strikes me as the type of dude who gives excellent hugs.
My partner would agree lol
I've been waiting for this!
Tbh, I used to kill the Demon Prince that gives me the lasers last at first, but now I love the extra challenge of the one with the meteors! The whole fight is incredible, though!
I think next time around, I'll purposefully go Meteors to get that other experience.
MY SITUATION WITH PRINCES WAS LITERALLY THE SAME! i didn't notice elevator, and for me, this is one of the harder bosses of the main game
Oh, if we're talking quality, Gael easily is in the running for #1.
FINALLY thank you for this Billy, u are the best!
By the end of the fight I felt like “Yeah this is probably going to be my favorite dark souls game.” And that is something Vordt will always have to me over every other boss
Edit: He left such a mark on me that I switched from using strength based Greatswords and ultra greatswords to Vordts Hammer and was the first time I played through the game with a hammer
crazy effort put into this video, well done!
Honey, wake up new Billy S. Just dropped ‼️
Theres also this crazy research someone did on what order and position the curse deacons spawn in but I can't find it right now.
also shout out to my man greatwood he gets too much hate
eeeeehy I think that's my comment at the end of the Midir segment. I shoulda screenshot my thoughts back then just to make sure lmao 😅. As I said in the full comment, salutations from Italy!
Can finally take part in this cause took 3 months to beat ds3
lmao i was stuck in abyss watchers for 1 week, but i didn’t stuck in other bosses
Agreed - I see why the common consensus is that they're the easiest boss... But I don't personally agree. Bottom 5, sure. But Bottom 1? Nah.
My greatsword demolished Friede and Nameless King. Midir though? Pure pain. The fight looked cool every time though.
The Twin Princes is my favorite base game boss, and is beat only by Sister Friede as my favorite over all
Champion gundyr seems to reward aggression and i was able to beat him in sort of an ineverted way. I attacked during his windups instead of trying to punish after his attacks.
The hardest boss is the friends we made along the way
TFW you only ever met half-light 😞
Quote of the day
I think Friede is the best female boss in the series!
That's quite clear. Now to make it more eloquent: Friede is the best Boss in the series!
Wolnir is easier than soldier of godrick and I’m completely serious
Also crystal sage is very difficult for where it’s at
I actually beat yhorm on my first playthrough without the storm ruler because i didn't want to beat it so easily. Took a long ass time tho
Not entirely done with my first full playthrough yet (Lothric, SOC and most of the Ringed City bosses still to go) but my god Sister Friede being the top of the pile for hardest bosses comes as absolutely no surprise! I hold no shame in resorting to summoning Gael to finally defeat her because she was absolutely nightmarish.
i got you billy, rtsr means red tearstone ring.
I died to the dancer over 50 times. 20 times with abyss watchers. 10 times with the crystal sage, yhorm 10 times. Twin princes first try like wtf
For me its rykard im always impatient and end up trying to get attacks in when he uses his skull spell and im always punished for it 😂
Wait that long comment about that cursed tree was a shorten version 😆
The Greatwood isn't one of my favorites or anything, but I've never disliked it even on repeat playthroughs. It has a cool design, and dropping into the pit during the fight is pretty cool. There's something satisfying about targeting the weak spots and popping them. Sure it's easy, but not every boss needs to be super hard. I like it. Not my favorite or anything, don't get me wrong. But I don't have anything against this boss.
The only boss I think I actually dislike is the wolf in the Ariandel dlc.
