In all seriousness though this was actually pretty fun to put together, and I honestly dislike more rings than I first thought. Though again this list is my opinion and experiences with these rings, you might love a ring i clowned on because you’re better than me and I think that’s dope! I get why you’re not ranking the upgrades to the various rings, but I still think covetous gold +2 deserved a special mention, as it spawns after the nameless king fight... in NG+2. Hardest ring to get in the game, and fucking useless by the time you get it, as you’ve done all your farming on regular new game

Flynns Ring is meant to be worn entirely without armor
I can understand that, but unless you’re doing like not goofy PvP (something I hardly do) I just don’t see a situation where the 15% and no armor is better than 10% from Lloyd’s sword ring and some decent armor. Though I will definitely have to try a run based around this ring, you and many others have defended it and I feel like I might’ve judged it too harshly.
@@lemonreviews I mostly think it's a personal preference. I enjoy having the light rolls while having nothing on and having even a 15% damage boost goes a long way when paired with other buffs in the game. There came a point in the souls games where I just ended up forgetting about shields and armor and just focused on enemy attack patterns, openings for backstabs etc. Just getting into that habit really helped me understand the game more

I find ragged robes can be worn if doing a level 1 run and it’s fairly useful
For the slumbering dragoncrest ring, there's actually 2 pretty big reasons to use it over spook, 1 It requires int, 2 rings can be swapped in seconds, without a bonfire, spells can't
Fair enough reasoning, though spook prevents fall damage so for an idiot like me I prefer it’s safety 🤣
I hate that cosmetic rings arent just in their own slot, because you are at a disadvantage just for using them. I can kind of understand the one that removes the hollowing look, but the rest should have their own equip slot
IMO, these all should have been options at Rosaria and the white phantom ring can be an infinite use active item or something.
Fun fact: you can combine the Untrue White Ring with the Hidden Body sorcery to make yourself look almost identical to the player ghosts you see while you play the game. What use does this have?

Pretty sure ChaseTheBro did a PvP build with the invisibility ring. Whole idea was stacking it with other invisibility egfects, and making it almost impossible for enemies to lock onto you, unless standing within a few meters.

7. Emit Force(1. yes this thing does damage, its just hard to land because the radius of the projectile is only .5 bigger than Force, it does a smaller amount of physical damage basically a weaker WOG that you have to aim, 2. obtained from Siegward's quest)
8. Divine Pillars Of Light(physical damage firestorm, found in Dukes Archives in hidden birdcage area underneath angel knight trio)
9. Wrath Of The Gods(found in Profaned Capital)
10. Way Of White Corona(Ariandel)
11. Gnaw(dark miracle from Deep Divine Tome)
12. Dohrys' Gnawing(stronger version of Gnaw dropped by Evangelist Dorhys in Irithyll)

@@lemonreviews and also yup, Emit Force has done damage ever since Dark Souls 1, the reason why most people don't know is because the blast radius for the Knockback on Force is 2.0*(which back in DS1 could be increased through Miracle Resonance) and Emit Force's damage radius is 1.5 but the Knockback radius is 2.0, so in other words you just have to aim and time it to where the orb hits the exact center of whatever you're aiming at or else it'll just do Knockback and no damage(except in DS2 where they gave both hitboxes damage with the Knockback hotbox just doing slightly less damage)
It is also funnily enough the only spell that has changed the element of its damage in every single game it has been in
In DS1 "divine" and "occult" miracles did magic damage with the Divine(super effective against undead) or Occult(super effective against gods) effect added on, EF included in the "Divine" category, in DS2 however to make programming simpler and streamline builds every single miracle that does damage is explicitly just lightning damage, nothing else, then in DS3 they made the "divine" miracles do physical damage(Emit Force, Blessed Weapon, WOG, Divine Pillars Of Light, Way Of White Corona all that stuff is physical) and now with Shadow Of The Erdtree's new "Wrath From Afar" it has been added once again with holy damage instead since that's an element now
Edit: And I especially really like how in Elden Ring SOTE they finally changed the name to be closer to Wrath Of The Gods/Wrath Of Gold("Wrath From Afar") because I feel like between the small radius and being named after Force("Emit Force") is why so many people didn't even know the damn thing did damage, because they see Force in the name, try it once and see the Knockback but likely don't land the "perfect centered hitbox" and are just like "oh so it's a ranged version of Force, meaning it does no damage, got it" and then never use it BUT NO IT CAN ACTUALLY DO ALMOST AS MUCH AS BASIC LIGHTNING SPEAR
Edit 2: also yes in DS1 Miracle Resonance could also increase the damage and radius on EF with the maximum being essentially equivalent damage to a halfway Miracle Resonance powered WOG and the radius being equal to WOG but at a distance, except sadly Miracle Resonance was also such a broken(glitchy) mechanic that most people never really got to interact with it so getting to MR +4(being around 11 Miracle Resonance sigils) is basically entirely impossible
*Apparently I originally got the force thing wrong, it's blast radius to begin with is the same as Emit Force at 2.0, increasing by .5 with each Resonance Level

If to celebrate learning that EF does damage you did a challenge run only using EF for damage
the flynn's ring in DS3 and its equivalent in ER are another example of fromsoft refusing to adapt DS2's good design features. in DS2 the flynn's ring effect was based on your *maximum equip load* stat. it was a flat damage boost of 50 that loses 1 point of damage for every 0.5 max equip load above 60. So you could actually wear armor and use weapons with it equipped, but you were capped at the amount of VIT you could have to get the full bonus (about 14).
this also worked in hand with DS2's weight system penalizing roll distance and stamina recovery for higher weight, so there were actual penalties to having low VIT. Low VIT still limited your options for armor and weapons, but you weren't forced to be naked with a weapon no heavier than a rapier in order to use the damn talisman
THIS. After doing some research for the DS2 Ring video everybody seems to be feining for, I found out that this ring is bonkers in DS2. I think the bonus caps out at a certain max equip load to prevent you from just skyrocketing it and always having the boost and I think that’s neat.
7:56 well if you use big weapons and specially masses with this ring, there won't be any shielded enemy in the game that could resist your attacks even against relatively big enemies that shield themselves like the gargoyles you would broke their stances and leave them open to critical attacks, for me it is pretty useful to explore zones with a lot of shielded enemies and knights you don't have to bother getting to their sides or back just move your big stick in their general direction and they are dead even with their elegant looking shields up. XD
Yeah that is true, just smacking the fuck out of shielded enemies and instantly guard breaking them is the coolest feeling in the world.

I have 7 playthroughs on this and I found all rings. But now that you describe all the rings back to back I realise lots of these rings are made for lore reasons. Like the dragonscale ring, as oceiros wore it to defend himself from assasins
Yeah, many semi useless items from Yoel and Yuria are the some of the only items that mention Londor in their descriptions for example
Some are cosmetics PVP related (like the untrue rings) others were maybe ideas that looked interesting but ultimately turned out to not be very good in practice like the scale ring you just mentioned.
I remember using the concealing ring and the untrue white ring while using the "invisibility" spell during invasions so my character would look like those "phantoms" of other players hanging around in the same area as you. Managed to fish a few backstabs with that it was funny, but it only works once per victim of course lol

Very interesting to see a non-pvp, more casual (and not meant as an insult, just not a game you pour a bajillion hours into) player's interpretation of ring value. It's wayyy different than what I would prioritize in a lot of ways, though of course there is some overlap with a few here and there. Thanks for the vid, man. It was certainly eye opening and enjoyable (and only milldy infuriating :) )
Just out of curiosity, what soul level are you rocking by the end of your first playthroughs? By some of the comments you made around the prisoner's chain, it seems like maybe you're pretty beefy? Also, do you like to press on through subsequent playthroughs with these games? I noticed in some clips that you were 300+ on what looked like a journey 3 scenario (a guess by counting repeat rings), is that your footage?

Yeah I feel like you need somebody who isn’t super great at the game to give out tips to people who aren’t super great at the game. There’s such a high skill ceiling, get good isn’t really an insult, it’s just the only thing all high level players really know to say. Plus seeing everyone who does play PVP give all the reasons why they disagree is very interesting! Thank you for commenting sorry for ranting. :)
So the fallen knight gear guy is SL324 I think, I do enjoy me a new game+ but it does leave me in a situation where I either need to make a new showcase character and level them and get all the items etc, or just stop killing the soul of cinder on my main playthrough.
So yes, all of the footage in the video is mine, and I actually think I’m one NG cycle higher than you guessed I wish you could check it before killing SoC.

Tbf the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring is able to stack with the Crystal Sage's Rapier, the Symbol of Avarice, and maybe a rusted coin if you've got some lying around. They're good for grinding more scarce covenant items like Sunlight Medals
That’s what I referred to as farming gear, if you’re trying to farm an item and not using the CGSR you’re just being foolish. However just leaving the ring on is a mehhhhhh idea
DS2 rings next?
Hard maybe, I want to at least use most/all of them in game before I make a ranking. DS2 also has about 30 more rings to rank anyways so it’d take a minute to finish the video itself.
A couple of notes about certain rings you didn't mention in their sections:
Untrue Dark Ring. It works to counteract the ghostly appearance of being a summon or an invader, so it's absolutely essential to pick this up every run I do. I won't argue with its placement too much because it mechanically doesn't help you with PvE, but it has a lot more use-cases and is one of my favorite rings.
Concealing Ring. It keeps you invisible outside of a certain range, which is absolutely fantastic if you can deal damage from outside that range. Player characters are really easy to spot a lot of the time, so this ring is perfect for making Greatbow gravity kills possible. As for videos showing this off, Lost My Sanity has some great ones.
Knightslayer Ring. There are attacks on smaller weapons designed to break shields! A lot of longswords' stance weapon arts are an example. This ring makes those a better option against the handful of larger enemies it takes more than one of those to crack open.
Aldrich's Sapphire. Weapon arts can be cast if you have at least half the FP needed to cast them, so 15 FP can go a long way -- each backstab could net you a cast of Earth Seeker's Earthen Wrath, for example. Backstabs against common mooks, which are still plentiful in late game areas, still count, so if you're being frugal with your flasks you can make this ring go a long way. Combine this with Farron Ring, and you can cast something that costs 40 FP every backstab!
Wolf Ring. It *is* ridiculously hard to get the +0 version, but the +1 version is really easy to find in NG+ and the DLC adds a +3 version. So it's a lot easier to get than it might seem at first.
Lloyd's Shield Ring. It's a super, super popular option among people willing to micromanage their rings with quick-fingered hot-swaps. If you wear this ring when you're at full health, and quickly switch it out to, say, the Sun Princess Ring when you're not at full health, you're effectively fully benefitting from 5 total rings. It's extremely powerful and raises your effective HP by a ton.
Ring of Sacrifice. It's great for those times you accidentally leave a huge puddle of souls in, like, a boss arena. That's the only other use case I can think of, but it's pretty alright
Morne's Ring. There might not be that many of them, but the small handful of damaging miracles worth using are awesome! By the time you get the ones worth using you'll have the upgrade of course, but you can always wear both for incredible returns on a melee sunlight spear or something. It's a ring that enables builds and I think that's neat.
Dragonscale Ring. PvP in this game is a lot about game knowledge -- the more you play, the more you understand, and the less you get backstabbed. I could see this being good if you just dabble, though. You probably absolutely want to use this if you're gonna equip a parry shield or use the L1 combo of Farron Greatsword or something, though.
Priestess Ring. This ring is actually more useful on non faith builds than otherwise -- you can put your faith at 10, attune Tears of Denial, and put the ring on to cast it. This can give every single build access to the single most broken miracle in the game for super minor investment. I think it's more useful than
Knight Ring. Not much to say, except that two-handing does not double your strength in this game. It's a 50% increase. This can be good if you're trying out weapons, or are min-maxed to the point where you can't use one of your options on your build without, but it's not 10 effective strength.
Darkmoon Ring. Darkmoon invasions are so, so much harder to come by than normal invasions. You can get pale tongues just by dueling with a red summon sign, but for this you're better off spending a few hours farming silver knights.
Chloranthy Ring. DS3 took after bloodborne in that stamina is often a non-issue. I think you might be overvaluing it a little? It's still good, of course.

Untrue Dark Ring - can’t you see “Host Of Embers” above the hosts head when locked on in PvP? I’m not a huge PvP guy so I could be wrong or that could only be in specific circumstances but I think that severely limits even the funny potential of this ring.
Concealing Ring - I don’t play PvP so fair enough, and like I said enemy aggro range is short enough I don’t feel a need for extra stealth.
Knight Slayer Ring - I just don’t have an issue fighting shielded enemies without breaking their guard. I am certain this is some people’s favorite ring, I just don’t do the thing it boosts.
Aldrich’s Sapphire - “Perhaps I treated you… too harshly”
Lloyd’s Shield Ring - if I could rank them as a combo they’d be too 5, I can’t. So I see too many problems with using this ring as your only one that I can’t put it much higher in good faith.
Wolf Ring - If I didn’t mention it I meant to, but you’re right. The +1 and +2 versions are lying on the ground and better than base.
Ring of Sacrifice - It seems we agree, maybe it’s placement was a tad high.
Priestess Ring - Fair Enough, just feel like it’s a touch late and out of the way for a lot of people.
Dragonscale Ring - idk I was just placing it high because every tier list I’ve ever seen places it at S tier and I didn’t want to piss anyone off. I actually sell it every single game, the only use it holds is 1000 souls.
Knight Ring- I think I misspoke I am aware the strength bonus is 50%, I agree with most everything else you said though.
Dark moon Ring - Idk man two spell slots just kinda excites me.
Chloranthy Ring - During the scripting of this video I was taking a slight break from DS3 and Elden Ring and playing a lot of DS 1&2 two games where I’d rather be dead before losing my stamina regen so that definitely biased me BAD.

The Untrue Dark Ring actually makes it say "Host of Embers" even if it's not true! The real host will still have the ember particles on them though so an invader that pays attention can figure out the truth without too much trouble. And when you invade the world in the first place it tells you the username of the host. I more meant it's an essential pickup for fashion purposes, and I'd be really sad having it being inaccessible on a character just because I skipped dipping just a little bit into the lord of hollows questline early game.
Admittedly, my thoughts on the Dragonscale Ring are based on my own experience with duels. It's probably really good for ultra greatsword users being tired of getting backstabbed every time they try to r1 in neutral, or for people who actually invade in this game and are used to getting ganked.
The Darkmoon Ring is really good! Really really good! You just suggested in the video that it's easier to get than the Concealing Ring and I completely disagree. I use it a lot on the one character I actually farmed for it on.
With that.. I think I've cleared up everything I need to. Hopefully.
I don't remember if it still works but I think with the Aldrich Ruby/Sapphire you can proc it twice with GreatSwords (since the riposte animation has it hitting twice). Good Hp/Fp recovery.
Hunter / Knight / Priest rings are great for SL1 runs (Creighton's Axe and Tears of Denial), but for the majority of players they deserve to stay ranked where they are.
Solid list only a few that I would disagree with in certain circumstances. (Way of White Corona is extremely based and Gael-pilled)
Oh yeah, and I made extensive use of those stat boosting rings in my own level 1 run. HOWEVER, despite my dislike for miracles you are correct wow corona is peak.

i have a chloranthy ring, havel's ring, estus ring and ring of steel protection because i'm a defensemaxxer at heart. when i plan to getting back to goat souls 3, i feel like trading my chloranthy ring for the FAP ring, cuz i already got the grass crest shield. what do you tihnk?
If you consistently use the grass crest shield, you can definitely go without it. If you need some extra equip load and stamina I’d swap for FAP, but if you’re comfortable with those stats it’s definitely just personal preference.

See I tried to test it like that and it seemed worse than the effect of atonement if not even there at all, so I assumed the wikis had been incorrect, but maybe I’m just stupid that’s definitely happened before
Flynn’s ring maxes out damage buff at anything under 30 weight with a 35 percent boost. i believe
13:50 to expand on this statement even further, the Hunter's Ring is found right next to the roof of the Grand Archives where those 3 Angel Knights are... aka one of the single best grinding spots in the entire game. There is literally 0 reason to use the Hunter's Ring when the ultimate grinding spot is a short jog away

As far as the Blue Tearstone Ring goes, I think the effect procs when you take an attack that WOULD put you at or under 20%. I could be thinking of a different game though.
I think you are thinking of something else, but if so that would warrant at least using it until you need a new ring slot in my book.

The Hunter’s Ring is actually really good for Sharp infused weapons because you get high damage returns past 60 dex
Lloyd Shield is PvP viable over many rings so it really shouldn't be so early on. You can just swap it out between uses and have a holy shield.
Best ring in pve (for me) is Ring of Steel Protection 3+, it gives you like 15 or 18 absorption, slap on some medium armor (knights set) and 30 some vigor and you're unkillable.
We do love a good tank build around here. My respect for you is vast.
Flynn's ring is weird.....For some reason, it really synergized with my damage output, it just really added that little bit of damage i needed, enemies that needed 3 hits, could be killed with 2, so, yeah, situational, but useful.....
Aldrich's Sapphire is one of my favourite rings, but then again I'm a really cheap player that likes to backstab everything
I suppose for folks who parry and backstab a lot like you/PvP players you’d get more use out of it. I usually have a decently sized FP bar and dont hit crits very often so they have little effect for me
I'd argue that Chloanthy ring is the most quintessential ring, with fap being a closer follow up. I always feel crippled without that stamina regen boost.
Had I made this list without playing the older games I’d definitely agree with you. But starting with bloodborne while stamina regen is a ridiculously nice effect, combat got more fluid and disengaging to let your stamina regen didn’t necessarily mean unlocking and actually leaving the fight like DS 1&2.
Also, I am a big grass crest shield guy so sometimes I go without the ring anyways.
TLDR: in this game I feel comfortable with its placement, in the older ones it would be much much higher.
@@lemonreviews aye, fair. I just typically find myself just barely short of an extra attack without it myself, though I favor the big unga bunga bonkers so they need extra stamina. My ring loadout tends to be Chloanthy, FAP, Havel, and silver serpent or steel protection.

flynns ring is actually really good no armor with a light weapon the boost in attack works with every attack and with potniffs right eye its op

I use it almost every play through since I prefer to light roll.
It being a 10-15% damage bonus when you don't have armor on is huge.

Oh no I’m a clown, I was so confident in badges for some reason. Also I’m certain my enjoyment of heavy weapons and armor have soured my personal experience with Flynn’s Ring, hard to get the boost using the Fume Knight Sword 😂

Untrue Dark Ring also gets rid of your summon appearance in other peoples worlds. Still useless, but I personally like not having a yellow glow to me every time I want to run through DS3 with a friend. Especially if we’re doing a cosplay run. If you’re a pyschopath who likes PvP in this game it’s pretty good for trolling too I guess.
Two-handing gives 1.5x strength, not 2x strength. Knights ring is still good, but it gives +7.5 when two-handing and not +10. This is also rounded down, so at even levels you won't gain value from that extra .5 strength

flynn ring should be higher because it provides an actual affect other than some of the rings that come immediately after
shield ring should be higher just for how useful it is for sl1 and I used it for a fight against havel because without it he 2 hit kill me but with the ring he takes 3 hits to kill me
ring of the evil eye should be lower on the list because at the end it barely does anything and you're better off just using a ring that negates damage of the estus ring for more flask health or the ring that heals 2 hp every second
two handing a weapon does not double strength but it does multiply strength by 1.5 times so knight ring gives 5 or 7.5 strength when two handing
red tearstone ring should be lower due to the dangers of trying to stay low enough for its effects because you could get hit and lose your attempt at the boss
+5 faith should be a little higher since most classes start with around 10 faith and with the ring you can cast tears of denial which is a broken spell and take it off immediately to open up your ring slot and save 5 unneeded levels

@@lemonreviews as much as I like dragon form for my hyper damage builds at low lvl I still see the massive point of literally any other time trying to use it that you made.
That's an okay tier list, but:
1) I don't understand whenever you take into account challenge runs or not, because rtsr is otherwise not nearly that applicable, don't get the gap between lloyds rings either even tho they're to be used in tandem on any limited health run
2) The sage ring becomes obsolete the moment you find the bellvine chime and put it in the other hand, which you can obtain 5 minutes after the sage ring depending on the progression. It's not essential for casting speed at all
3) Are you even taking into the account the dlc +3 rings? Most of them are busted beyond repair
4) Not about the tier list itself, but have you ever tried using soul spears or crystal soul spears as an example sorcery? I wrote a script for a sorceries ranking myself and soul stream is one of the worst spells in the game due to all of the potential damage of it getting curbed by defense, and it deals around 25% more damage than CSS assuming every single tick lands, which is near impossible, and the casting time makes it really impractical to use in most cases

1.) I tried to think about what ring I would want the most if I had one slot. I will almost always choose RTR over Lloyd’s sword ring, because I can’t rank using both the Lloyd rings as one.
2.) Bellvine only casts miracles, it also has a MEHHHHHHH spell buff, Sage Ring technically has a smaller bonus but you can get the bonus on any spell you cast with any catalyst.
3.) Nope and that’s why, most of them would top out the list. The NG versions of rings often fix problems I have with base versions, IE. The wolf ring+1 being ground loot, so it’d throw the list all outta wack.
4.) Soul Stream looks cool, my monkey brain saw cool sorcery and wanted to use that one. You’re right and I should’ve standardized what spells I was using but I uh didn’t lol.

The Knight Slayer's ring is actually hot garbage in pvp cause nobody blocks. What it's really good for is any enemy type that uses spears. Lothric Knights, Silver Knights, Ringed Knights, those obnoxious hollows that just straif around you until you try to run past them, if it does spear and shield, the Knight Slayer takes it apart. Which I really appreciate cause I hate dealing with those bastards.
I’ve just never had an issue fighting shielded enemies by just baiting them out, but I can see how just destroying their guard is a lot more satisfying.

Reversal ring should be worse than the phantom ring because at least throwing off invaders is a use.
honestly they’re all pointless enough to be in the same slot, also when you lock onto a player with white phantom they are still displayed as Host of Embers (don’t quote me on that, I’m speaking from memory) so the rings are both essentially cosmetic only.

5 dex is pretty gud when u only have 30, that’s literally a 6th of my main scaling(this is what i had going into lorian, better than the 3 dex ring i had before)
I mean it’s definitely a free levels, but if you have archdragon peak unlocked I’d recommend just going and grinding out a few levels. If your highest scaling stat is 30 I assume you aren’t a crazy high level, I’d rather do that than completely give up a ring slot.

@ultra9349 I would definitely grinding out a few levels, maybe to like 80, that would be 11 extra points to use. If it doesn’t help against Lorain it’d definitely help against Soul Of Cinder. Do whatever makes the game easiest.

If you min-max your spell damage as a sorcerer, you'll still do more damage with a Crystal infused Lothric Knight Sword. That's fucked.

Interesting, thank you letting me know. Yeah I tried to judge what’s worked best for me, so my opinion, playstyle, and major avoidance of PvP definitely has an effect on the rankings. Also I have heard very decent things about Flynn’s Ring after putting this video out, I just can’t get much use out of it do to my unga bunga weapons so it’s fairly useless for me.

I definitely understand, however I like to reclaim my slurs, people don’t get to use words against me and not get those words used back. The F-Slur is definitely harder to defend my use of but I have absolutely no qualms with the R-Slur because it isn’t imo. It’s the medical term that describes me best, my mental processes aren’t that of the average person, I am legitimately worse off than a normal person. The history of the word is stained and marred by prejudice but it’s definition is absolutely true, and I care more about being right than I do about making people feel good. I can try to use other words, I don’t like to make people feel shitty and hearing the same word over and over gets old, but I’m not going to lie to you and say I’ll never say it again or apologize for saying it in the first place.

Uh the only ring I placed low for having the effect is the RoTSFB, because it boosts miracles which are viable I guess? If you tried to do a miracle only run you couldn’t kill the first two bosses but ok sure. The other two 15% boost rings (old witch, and bellowing) are superb and that’s why they’re in the top 10 out of 73 rings silly goose.
PS. This video game isn’t actually that hard, you don’t have to min-max the fuck out of your damage to beat the game. If you find it fun, more power to you, but I don’t need to be at my theoretical maximum damage before every encounter.

dark souls 3 is disappointing
After playing a lot of other souls games, I see where you’re coming from. Originally when I started playing this game, I had only beaten bloodborne. Having gone through and seen all the little game mechanics that were phased out for some reason has made me look at it differently. I still think DS3 is the best of the three but it certainly loses a lot of its “dark souls charm” for lack of a better term for a better gameplay experience.
