Male singer is multi-instrumentalist/vocals Troy Donockley. He was made an official member of the band at the same time Floor was in 2013, but has played with them since 2007. He mostly provided rhythm guitar, uilleann pipes and Mando la. He has provided backing vocals with Marco over the last 4 albums with this being the first album that he is the sole main male backing vocal (as usual Thomas utilizes choir vocals as well).
Finally !!! Someone understands the mix. I really love Floor’s vocals in this song. I think she will get a very powerful chesty mixed belt in that chorus after the breakdown if they ever do this song live. Also, it’s obvious how catchy the melody is as you immediately repeated it in your freestyle at the end. 🤘
Tuomas hasn't sung since the first Nightwish album. The male is Troy the British multi-instrumentalist. He actually sang one of Tuomas's songs on the Decades tour 2018/19 called The Carpenter and sang lead on one song on the previous album, Human II Nature, called Harvest.
Love the composition, it grows on you when hearing it more often. Conclusion so far: love it, all Nightwish characteristics are in there❣️ Loved your reaction as always 🙏🏻
Great reaction! We know Nightwish, their mastery in anything they do; everything has a purpose like Floor’s voice “blending in!” We love Nightwish like no other! So we should NOT BE SURPRISED, but I for one was absolutely floored, mind blown into millions of pieces 🤯, again! Hello again, Sam. This was an exquisite reaction to another Tuomas Holopainen creation. Floor's voice is so beautiful mixed with the lovely orchestration and choir. As others have said, the male backing vocals and the vocals at the end are from Troy Donockley. I love, love, love this and cannot wait for the release of the entire album. Thank you.

Nightwish anounced long ago the wont tour this album, so a live performance might be some out in the future.. Btw great reaction, and nice outro..lol
Great to see you again with a reaction on Nightwish. Many of other reactors have criticised the mix of the chorus, you are the first one that probably exactly describes the intentions of Tuomas. Thank you for that. Floor’s beautiful voice is used as an instrument among other instruments; she is a part of Nightwish, not always the shining star. I think that when we call Tuomas the Metal Mozart we also should give him the credits for how he wants to use his instruments. If the mix was bad he surely should have noticed and improved it, but he didn’t because this was what he wanted. Thanks again and hopefully I’ll enjoy more of your reactions in the future
the utter perfection floor sings the verses with is blowing my mind. she is able to perform a fantastic variety of the most extreme vocals you could think of. and the verses of this song are super simple. a plain, yet beautiful and soul touching melody with a simple rhythm sung with a soft and easy vocal set up. but the way she seamlessly dances through the registers, mastering her mix voice supremely, having found the perfect sound coloring for every phrase and word, that is just mind blowing. it seems simple. but the vocal mastery needed to sing the verses like she does here is immense. she is known for her vocal fireworks. but the soft and poetic singing needs just as much skill and control.
The sad thing is we probably wont get any live versions until 2026. The album comes out in September and the drummer and bass player' other band has that album coming out in August and Wintersun is expected to tour.
Judging from you not recognizing Troy's voice I suspect you haven't heard the phenomenal acoustic version of How's the Heart in Planet Rock session. It's just Floor and Troy, their voices and his guitar and it's a really cool angle to the Nightwish. How you don't always need the bells and whistles, and well, Troy can also play a standard guitar and play it very well. And sing.
Glad to see you reacting to Nightwish again Sam.😊 Your one of my favourite reactors 😊. Gonna see our beloved Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy Floor ❤😊, the first of June in Eindhoven, the Netherlands 😊❤
The male stunner at the end is Troy. He actually did sing the song "Harvest" on the preview album. I fed that stunt, write different from other nightwish songs, but it has the nightwish essence and feel. Also he sung the main part in the live version of "the carpenter" (decades tour, live at buenos aires 2018) Muy, this in the album version is the only song Tuomas had been singing on... He said he'd never do that again 🤣 I actually liked the original, but I admit, he's not the best singer. It simply suited that song, but so does Troy's voice
Haha yes I first thought of a David Attenborough fever dream! Troy does the male vocals, he has a very gentle voice that has its place that's for sure. I think the "ah" vocalisations would be Tuomas' wife going on her voice. Can't wait for the rest of the record

Great song, great video, great reaction!! The title of album Yesterwynde is actually a non exiting word that Troy came up with. Yesterwynde is the opening track on new album, i belive its only like a intro, its a little over 2 min long, #2 on album then is a almost 10 min song, thats proberly another epic!! #3 is where i think they bring in a heavy track, and this Perfume of the timeless is #5.. so i think its gonna be a good mix of heavy songs, Epics, and maybe a full balled.. Perfume of the timeless, well its almonst a ghost energy song right, telling all these ancestors is perfume around in a timeless world, being around you still, also a message that your existens matters!! i feel tuomas also put in a little message that mankind could do better still, Einstein turn to ape.. I listened to this song maybe 50 times by now, and it is one i like to listen to with my headphones or without, its really a good song, when i can do so to me. Some say Floors voice is low in the mix, and i can agree its hard to get all words she sing, but if you look at it soundwise it sounds amazing!! and after a listen or 2, you know most of lyrics, and its no problem at all, its done fully on purpose for the sound experince of it.. cant wait for rest of album!! "Perfume of the Timeless" Released: 21 May 2024 The title of the album is a word made by band member Troy Donockley, which Holopainen describes as the feeling of time, history, memory, and being connected to past generation, who have "all had their lives, their ups and downs, and they don't exist anymore, except as atoms scattered all over the universe. And we're going to be in that state pretty soon as well. So that should give you something to think about." There is a choir during the chorus, so multiple voices accompanying Floor. Not sure if Troy is also on the vocal at this point but he sing the solo chorus lines at the end. I don't think Tuomas has sung since the early days and, if you listen to the early stuff, with good reason.
Troy has a nice deep voice, listen to Auri's "Fireside Bard" were he sounds like lennard Cohen, risen from the dead (and learned to sing): ua-cam.com/video/w_YcJ49fIHI/v-deo.html
Great reaction! I also wouldn´t mix Floor´s voice´s upper here, because song could lose some of it´s other strengths. I think it just perfect like it is for all of us - ghosts of the future generations. So we should be curious ghosts!
Some probability calculations: Step 1. Probability of boy meeting girl: one in 20,000. Step 2. Probability of same boy knocking up same girl: one in 2000. Step 3. Probability of right sperm meeting right egg: one in 400 quadrillion. Step 4. Now lets assume that you have just those 12 generations of ancestors mentioned in the intro to this song. For the probability of every one of those 12 generations of your ancestors having reproduced successfully with right sperm having met the right egg is 400 quadrillion to the 12th power. Given these 4 steps, the probability of you being born you at the present moment is 20k x 2k x 400 quadrillion to the 13th power. Going backwards in time with even more generations of your ancestors, we soon reach a probability of 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe. This makes each one of us a unique miracle.
All the lower range lyrics (and the closing) are sung by Troy. Other reactors have commented on Floor being down in the mix - Tuomas NEVER does anything without a reason, so take it up with him (I'm pretty sure he doesn't care what they think).
After singing The Carpenter in 1997 Tuomas decided he should not be caught singing on a record...ever again. Since then he swapped Sami for Marco and later Troy joined in as well. As Troy can do anything that involves music...he sings. Of course there are backing choirs as well.
This is my only way to communicate is through comments. I`m a huge N W fan. and a vintage movie fan. I`m wondering if you`re any relation to British actor Robert Donat. You must watch the 1935 movie, The 39 Steps and you`ll see what I`m talking about.
Guys you know Floor Jensen has a project of her own in which she is front and center 100% of the time. This ain't "Floor and friends" This is a 30 year old project to which she came mere 10 years ago and she's now a 1/5 of. So calm down a lot and go listen to her solo album.
Hi brooo...please 2 old song,very interesting vocal.Orphan Hate-circus (Sina Niklas)and Bloodflowerz-dabolic Angel...mamazing female vocal.Support from Serbia
You are many things San, but not a simple man. Do not underestimate your own worth. I know it is in jest. It is probably Troy doing the male vocals in the main part of the song. Tuomas does not sing anymore. He hates his voice. Floor and Troy are his voice. Your commentary proves you understand the artistic decision on the vocal mix.
You are right on money! This is not a song, it's a musical piece for orchestra and choir where the orchestra and choir just happen to have some metal musicians and vocalists in them. Many people have complained about Floor's vocals not soaring above everything else. Because they were expecting a song, a piece of entertainment in rock music format. But this is not it.
AI generated? Perhaps not CGI generated : yeah, more likely. Vegetatively enhanced? Without Doubt. Perhaps a touch of fungal influence.... or a tequila worm. My live performance prediction : for the very first time, near the end of the song during the bombastic orchestral reprise of the chorus, Emppu will put down the guitar and grab a second bass so he and Jukka can try to recreate that immense , thunderous experience. ... and Floor won't have to do anything out of the ordinary... just be Floor.
Tuomas sings on "The carpenter" from their first album. It was just supposed to be a demo for the record company, and he was pretty embarassed when it was released😅
He sung on the first debut/demo album, but the reception was mixed and he doesnt think he is good enough to do it again. I think hes fine for being a clearly inexperienced 20 year old in the 90s doing a demo song they didnt expect to release to the public(I have heard enjoyed and paid for worse singers honestly), but hes clearly not on the level of the other singers NW has had (or wasnt in 1996, he hasnt sung again so we cant see his skill now). Honestly his biggest sin was singing too quietly and slightly out of his range because hes trying to keep up with Tarjas pipes tbh. Other than that hed be fine as a backup. Not amazing or anything, but *fine*. Its obvious he was NOT confident and confidence is half the battle in singing. If you want to hear it, the album versions of The Carpenter, Astral Romance, One Upon a Troubadour, and Beauty and The Beast(different from Beauty of the Beast) have him singing. Hes best on Beauty and the Beast because you can actually hear him tbh. I honestly actually enjoy these songs. They are not on the level of many other NW songs, but they are charming in their own way. Like watching a baby deer learn to walk.
That was my only negative in this song how the vocals have been mixed. Floor is so powerful singer but you don't feel it here. It's like they don't want that the singer is the leader.
Come on, guys… Even if this is on purpose, it is still badly mixed… She is not a part of the choir, because it sounds like being on different places, not coming all together. Poor explanation for a poor mixing. I won’t even comment that the overall sound is flat and artificial. Also, if you want to make this sound, then let the choir shine, and mix the Floor voice somehow in it. At the moment you can barely hear the choir and somehow hear Floor from a completely different place, but yeah, she is a part of the choir - such a bullshit explanation… I guess that a lot of people that are Nightwish fans have never heard an orchestral music opera with lead vocals in it, so they can know how this music is supposed to sound. At least hear Shoemaker - it makes more sense there

The title of the album is a word made by band member Troy Donockley, which Holopainen describes as the feeling of time, history, memory, and being connected to past generation, who have "all had their lives, their ups and downs, and they don't exist anymore, except as atoms scattered all over the universe. And we're going to be in that state pretty soon as well. So that should give you something to think about."
Holopainen has described the album as being about humanism, history, and the inspiration thereof, and that outlook of the album is positive and optimistic ]

There is a choir during the chorus, so multiple voices accompanying Floor. Not sure if Troy is also on the vocal at this point but he sing the solo chorus lines at the end. I don't think Tuomas has sung since the early days and, if you listen to the early stuff, with good reason.
you are literally the first reactor to correctly understand the intend of the mixing of the vocals.
At the end is Troy Donockley singing.
Yes, it's Troy!!!
Troy has a nice deep voice, listen to Auri's "Fireside Bard" were he sounds like lennard Cohen, risen from the dead (and learned to sing):

In the scene with Floor and the dragon thing, I’m pretty sure it’s an oversized hand puppet. The “hand in pocket” is probably fake.

You need to hear/react to Lanternlight from this album.

Great reaction! I also wouldn´t mix Floor´s voice´s upper here, because song could lose some of it´s other strengths. I think it just perfect like it is for all of us - ghosts of the future generations. So we should be curious ghosts!
Some probability calculations:
Step 1.
🖤🤘🔥
All the lower range lyrics (and the closing) are sung by Troy. Other reactors have commented on Floor being down in the mix - Tuomas NEVER does anything without a reason, so take it up with him (I'm pretty sure he doesn't care what they think).
After singing The Carpenter in 1997 Tuomas decided he should not be caught singing on a record...ever again. Since then he swapped Sami for Marco and later Troy joined in as well. As Troy can do anything that involves music...he sings. Of course there are backing choirs as well.
Please reaction old song band Orphan Hate-circus.Very ineteresing vocal Sina Niklas....amazing female vocal

This is my only way to communicate is through comments. I`m a huge N W fan. and a vintage movie fan. I`m wondering if you`re any relation to British actor Robert Donat. You must watch the 1935 movie, The 39 Steps and you`ll see what I`m talking about.
Oh yeah! He actually looks a lot like my Grandad!
🎉🎉🎉
You are right on money! This is not a song, it's a musical piece for orchestra and choir where the orchestra and choir just happen to have some metal musicians and vocalists in them.
Many people have complained about Floor's vocals not soaring above everything else. Because they were expecting a song, a piece of entertainment in rock music format.
But this is not it.
AI generated? Perhaps not
CGI generated : yeah, more likely.
👍
🤩👍💥💯🎼
🤘😎💙🎶
Lol the melody instantly hooks.
And this is definitely Tuomas ❤
I never heard Tuomas sing.
Can he sing?
This is Troy.
Sitting here .. completely aware that screaming ... TROY TROY TROY TROY ... does no good at all. Ha.
That was my only negative in this song how the vocals have been mixed. Floor is so powerful singer but you don't feel it here. It's like they don't want that the singer is the leader.
tuomas never sing , ha ha hy sing 1 time , with the song carpenter
Jock, you destroyed the fucking video.
You dont mix one of the best vocalist on the planet into the background during a chorus.
Nightwish do because they can!
And for good reasons.
Nightwish do when it is part of the original intention for the song. People might not like how its executed, but its how it was intended to sound
At least hear Shoemaker - it makes more sense there
Aw look at you. Telling people what music is "supposed to sound like" 😂
@@leosurname6993 Nightwish are telling you, I’m just giving my 2 cents that the end effect is not that
love usually your comments but don`t pause so often! nobody likes it!
I do not enjoy nightwish anymore..
another stupid eaction
