I wish I saw this video a few months ago. I have an 04 chevy with a duramax that a squirrel built a nest in. Popped the hood and there was a condo complex under there. It chewed all but two wires in the main harness from the fuse box to the engine and transmission. I ordered a good harness on ebay so I could just replace it instead of splicing a bunch of wires. No matter what I tried, I could not unplug the connector at the range sensor on the transmission. I stopped before I damaged it and ended up cutting the salvage harness and splicing the main engine connector pigtail to the damaged harness. At the time I did a lot of research to see if anyone else had this issue unplugging the range sensor and this is the first time hearing of GM gluing the connector in. That explains a lot and I thank you. Keep the videos coming.

2001 Chevy Silverado ext 4.8L LS 4x4...dash cluster flashed a couple times over a 3 week period like 3 days between, then went dead minus background lighting and turn signals: checked and cleaned all grounds...no issues...had done it 2 yrs earlier from something ease. Checked fuses, checked all fuses in under the hood and under driver side fuse box each and every one...found a couple fuses blown but not the one connected to the issue, next came checking power to the dash cluster...power across the board (A1-A12)...so on to the dash cluster...took it apart front and back...no burnt sections...found a US guy on here who put me in touch to a CDN guy...sent it to him,...went over it 3 times....found minor issues but not complete blank minus background lighting and turn signals working...SO back to the power plug to the dash cluster---fucker now only has power to A4 and A9, other 10...no power...wtf...go back to the fuse box...half the fuses in (no specific order), have 0 power, all big fuses 30-40-50-60Amps have power...50% of smaller ones NOW no fucking power...had complete power before...so now WTF...I checked all fuses, pull and flip over the fuse panel...I got no loose wires, no burnt wires, no mice or chipmunk sign (got 20 moth balls hidden under hood), I got power coming in...no blown fuses now...but have no power...and in no order...IE 4 for lights fuses, 1 has power the other 3 none...I pulled the computer...clean, the truck runs fine, other then the heater fan only works on position 5 not 4, 3, 2, 1...and obviously the dash cluster...I've, looked both sides...and I am fucking dumbfounded at what in the holy hell is going on here. I have no cracked or split wires anywhere, none burnt...and yet...I have electrical ghosts. I went front to back...when I had it fore-sure the dash cluster...and it turned out to NOT be the dash cluster...my previous checks of the power plug to dash cluster was now wrong...and the fuse box under hood has half power for no good damn reason. I have followed the wires...none loose, no corrosion, no dirt...I pulled all the relays...I am lost as fuck here now...and in tears.
Has anyone got stuck in this death trap of WTF??? I am 3 weeks now...and I want to die. :(

In Australia Holden also used that hot melt glue on that same connector in 2000 in my dads Holden VX Commodore which runs the Holdens ECOTEC version of the 3.8 litre Buick L36 V6 engine & 4L60E automatic transmission, maybe because they're a division of General Motors.
When he bolted a 2004 model Holden VY Commodore powertrain from that model of Holden Commodore in it never had the connector glued into the neutral safety switch !

I cant even get quality service at the dealership. Thats why I do my own work because I spend wayyyyyy too much money trying to get a simple diagnosis. Everyone loves to just throw parts at the problem instead of doing a proper diagnostic.

I do just about all my own work on my cars. I had never heard of a neutral safety switch. I spent over 500 dollars paying different so called mechanics to come diagnose my van and most of them said it was my starter. I had never had any problems starting it before so I incisted that it wasnt the starter. The starter is the original starter and it is rusty but it has always been souper strong! But by the time I got to 500 i started breaking down and doing what they said and I broke down and bought a new starter. I bench tested the old starter and it still work. and I bench tested the new starter and it worked as well. Since I had already went ahead and bought it I installed the new starter. Still nothing!!! I saw on the internet that someone said that the neutral safty switch could cause this issue. My van had been sitting for over a year with this problem. I got inside and wiggled the gear shifter a little and tried to start it and it literally started right up with no issues. Have not had an issue with it starting since. That is some bullshit!
Can someone tell me whats the problem with starting the car in neutral??? I would think you would want to start in neutral more than in gear. I specifically remember having a car shut off on me on the highway and I threw it into neutral, restarted it and put it back in drive and kept on my way with no problem.

1:47 I had to jump the 20-amp ignition fuse to the 10-amp crank fuse using wire from a 4-pin trailer wiring harness that I cut and stripped because my truck wouldn't crank this weekend. With the key in the run position, temporarily jumping those two started it such that I could put the fuses back in and get home from my trip. That bypassed the ignition switch which was the last thing I could check that would cause a no crank issue. I've had ignition switches go out in three different cars thus far. My truck is a 2000 s10 2.2l automatic. UA-cam saved me again!!

So, after a lengthy investigation into the problem, I decided it was between the key and the box so I eventually ended up under my seat at the air bag module. I removed the seat and pealed back the carpet and "damn" is the only word that describes it well. Looked like a battery exploded under there. Unplugged it, hit the key and BAM, she came on back to life.

I still don't know why 8n the hell catalytic converters would have anything to do with a short but I said no thanks. Anyway one day when it was running I had leaned under the hood and it shut off and I noticed I touched the fuse box. All it ended up being was where the wire from the battery bolted up to the fuse box was loose. The damn Ford place had to have known because the mechanic that put the box in stripped the nut before it ever got tight. Fuckin crooks if not that then it could be a bad ground wire I believe there's about 7 on that truck. It could easily be one of those. But in my case I just had to find the airbag control module which was under my driver seat and 7nhook it. Should replace it but funds are low so. They also put them under the console on some trucks and I'm sure anywhere that could be a hiding spot in some vehicles. Hope that helps you man but I will say my truck never went dead while it was running it just wouldn't crank sometimes after I killed it but my car would when it had a bad hot wire to the fuse box
