Me lol, My sister been on so many different pressure meds. I took her off she eats fresh beets everyday and a few natural supplements in which I make sure the supplements are safe and dont carry the bad stuff that certain supplements do. I basically do a ton of research on the labels, from pressure in the 190’s and 200’s for 9 months now shes been in the 130’S nothing pass the 132’S She has not seen a pressure in the 130’S for maybe 30 yrs. I also have her on Liposomal Vitamin C, L lysine, L proline,Vitamin K2 also an omega supplement. I have made sure to buy her top brands and I dont mind because her pressure has been doing so good. She went to the Cardiologist last month for her results on 3 test that we have been waiting on. One was an ECHO of the Heart, A sonogram on her stomach where I think they check the arteries, and a sonogram of the legs. So she has had afib for years and on so many different meds for high blood pressure. I went ahead and took her off and like I said shes been on the supplements only 9 months. We went into the cardiologist office for her results a few days ago and the Cardiologist said Well I have good news I see your pressure is good today the best it has ever been and You no longer have AFIB. He then tells my sister that the losartan must have been working well. I stopped him and I then said to him Doctor here is a bag with the blood pressure Meds and the rest of the meds you have had my sister on for the past years. I said to him we were gonna hand you the bag on the day all 3 test were done on her but I decided to wait on her results since you said these test are approved by her insurance only once a year. I said Here is a bag with all the meds that the pharmacy guy delivers to her and I want you to know that none of these meds thats you have given my sister along with the one for the heart are not the reasons why her pressure is close to normal nor why she no longer has a-fib. I went on to tell him all the supplements she was on and then pulled them out her purse I told him I started her on the supplements and I then took her off the meds once she was on the supplements for a month. I said to him no one in my immediate family takes meds I said were more into supplements. I said Doctor 😂my sister will NO longer need any of this POISON garbage you have been prescribing her. He then looked at me and said he is happy to hear that she is doing so well, He then told my sister to continue to monitor her blood pressure at home my sister them pulls out her notebook and he looks at the most recent readings of her blood pressure and says this is excellent. I then asked him why if these MEDS have so many BAD side effects and you guys think its fixing one thing while it is damaging another why are they prescribed. He said everyone is not the same I have patients that have no side effects. I said well my sister liver was swollen for a long time and you guys not once said if could have came from what you prescribed. I said you know what I will let this subject go because you and I will be here all day going back and forth. I said she will no longer need no more of this garbage. She will exercise, eat and sleep well and thats that. That Doctor’s face was in so shock. I also got to ask him how is my sisters heart now in overall he said the last time she had all these test was in 2021 and her heart was at a 45 percent which is not good at all and she is now at 65 so that is great. I also asked him where can we get a test to check for plaque and etc he claims that test is a special test which most insurance dont wanna cover in NY he said we can pay for $125 out of pocket and he then told us we can make the appointment there at his office once we pay. So I will keep everyone updated on the results of that test. Blessings to everyone on here reading this and I apologize for it being so long.

My BP has been normalized around 110-115 compared to 130-140. Haven’t noticed any side effects except bouts of dizziness but that’s because I used to fast in the morning. I now make sure to eat a small breakfast and the dizziness isn’t there.

I am a man in my 70s and have been on Losartan for years (dosage: 50 mg daily). My doctor had first put me on a calcium-channel blocker but that was causing side effects so he switched me to Losartan. I have had no side effects at all from this drug (no dizziness, etc.) and am very pleased at the way it is keeping my blood pressure under control. There are a lot of drugs to be afraid of, but Losartan is not one of them in my opinion.

@@otienostevemito I looked back over my old pill bottles and see that I first started taking the drug in March of 2013. So it has been over 10 years. Interestingly, I noticed that the prescription level was 50 mg. daily during my first year on the drug but the doctor cut it back to 25 mg. daily in the second year and it stayed at that level for several years. It is possible he did that because I complained about minor side effects that I don't even remember. Anyway, several years ago my blood pressure started to creep up again and the dosage was increased back to 50 mg. daily which is the current level. I have had no side effects at all unless there were minor ones during that first year that I don't recall.
People react differently to different drugs but I suspect your body will get used to the medication over time. If your daily dosage is over 25 mg., you might ask your doctor about cutting back to 25 mg and see if that helps get rid of the joint pains.

I just noticed when working in higher Temps, 70 and warmer, I'm still experiencing light headedness when rasing up after being bent down. Seems to get worse the more active I am. Valsartan by itself did not help lower my blood pressure, so Doc added Amlodipine & Metoprolol. I could feel the Metoprolo & those 3 together dropped my pressures to normal. 160mg Valsartan, 5mg Amlodipine & 25mg Metoprolol. I wonder if I could quit taking Valsartan & will probably speak with my Doctor about it next visit.

I had an incident that resulted in a 2 week hospital stay. Blood pressure-wise, I was fine at home, but have ‘White Coat Syndrome’ when I have to go to a doctor. A hospital stay is a WCS on steroids for me. So, I was put on 100 mgs of Losartan, against my will, but the doctors wouldn’t listen. When I got home, I started taking my BP as I normally do, and noticed that my BP would dip below 99 systolic over whatever diastolic, twice a day. I watched a couple of days, then reported it to my primary care doctor, who cut the dosage in half and told me to keep watching it and report back. When it dipped to 83/56 and STAYED low, I called the doctor office, and they had me come in. They ran several tests, including an EKG, and several BP readings using a ‘special’ cuff, where they took readings with me lying prone, sitting, and standing. With those finished, the Doctor comes in and announced, “I am TAKING YOU OFF LOSARTAN ALTOGETHER. IT IS KILLING YOU!!!”
I am back home, on my normal regimen, and my BP is fine, though it took my system about 36 hours to rid itself of what I call a poison.

Here's my experience with Losartan. Diagnosed with hypertension (high BP) around 6 years ago (age 50). Since then I've been on all the various BP medications, and had adverse reactions to them all (worst of which is they cause ED - erectile dysfunction). The only BP med group I hadn't tried were ARBs (Angiotensin Receptor Blockers); Losartan is an ARB. This is kind of my last hope for a medication regime that doesn't bring unwelcome side effects that diminish my quality of life. So, observations, after 1 month taking 25mg Losartan daily: almost immediate improvement in the ED - seems that's one thing Losartan doesn't affect (a definite win!). During the first few weeks of taking Losartan I've experienced: headaches, unusual tiredness and lethargy, weak legs, itching, dry cough, sore throats and changes to voice (scratchiness in throat when speaking), plus instances of blurred vision. You're proabably thinking, wow, that's a lot of side effects. Well, yes, and they are all recognised as *possible* side effects of Losartan. At the time they were all concerning, BUT ... they all appeared during the initial weeks of starting on Losartan but have gradually diminished and disappeared over time. So, if you're getting any of these, it may be that you just have to ride them out for a while until your body adapts. Not a medically valid analysis, just my own experience.

I was switched over to Losartan after taking 10mg of Lisinopril for 11 years. I got tired of the cough that it produced. It got so bad, that I would be having coughing fits in my sleep, or at the most inconvenient time as a musician. I was taking a cocktail of 10mg Amlodipine, 10mg of Lisinopril, and 12.5mg of HCTZ. I got a new doc, and I requested to be taken off of the Amlodipine due to edema as a side effect, and the Lisinopril for that awful cough I developed. The meds were working, but I just couldn't take the effects anymore. The doc switched me over to 50mg of Losartan, and 12.5 of the HCTZ. The doc didn't like how the switch elevated my BP numbers, so she upped my dosage of the Losartan to 100mg, and kept the HCTZ at 12.5. Big mistake! I had some sort of reaction to the medication, because it became more difficult to catch my breath within an hour of taking the medication. My numbers were normal several hours after taking the higher dose, but those effects were scary! The doc switched me over to 20mg of Nifedipine along with the 50mg of Losartan, and that Nifedipine I never want to take again! Normal numbers, killer headaches. I eventually got switched over to Spironolactone, combined with the 50/12.5 of Losartan and HCTZ. My potassium numbers were going too high for my taste, even though the doc said it was "ok." NOW, I am on a half pill of a 100mg of Losartan, and 25mg of the HCTZ. My numbers are better now. I may request that the HCTZ be brought back down to 12.5mg. It is impossible to stay hydrated on a diuretic. Docs often think that increasing your medication for high BP numbers is the answer. It is not! Educating your patients about nutrition, how to manage stress, how to get adequate rest, and how to incorporate moderate exercise without killing themselves, is the real ticket.

I'm on losartan and carvedilol, and I hate it! I told my doctor three weeks ago that my personal goal is to be 100% free of medication within one year (end of Oct., 2021), preferably sooner. I've made drastic lifestyle changes, including having begun the keto and carnivore way of eating on Sept. 1, 2020, and have lost 50 pounds. BP is now well within normal range, even running rather low at times, so my goal is likely to be achieved within the next six months.
I have a weight loss goal, as well, and am doing "Bob and Brad" online exercises (for seniors), so will be off the hated medications soon. Thankfully, though, they're the only medications I take, because I don't even use OTC meds, having such severe allergies, I don't dare ingest anything when I don't know what it will do to me---and I've suffered some really bad allergic reactions to just ordinary OTC meds, especially NSAIDs.

How about feeling weak and tired ? That's common .
    I have been taking losarton
At first my bp went down
But now it's back to where it was before . I was taking it twice a day but I had gotten drowsy in the afternoon .
But i can't positively blame the medicine . So now im taking 100mg at night .
I'll have to set a alarm to make sure I dont miss it and take it a different times .
I also have a bit of a cough now 🤔 hmmm med?
I'll try it until the box runs out .and if no improvement I'll stop . Im retired ,63 .6'3" tall and wiegh 220 ish pounds . A bit of a belly .not much .I bike every other day , 12 miles each time . Walk on off days . Push ups etc . I dont smoke . I avoid carbs and surger . I do have a couple drinks daily . Which was beer and several on weekend nights . Im Switching that to liquor and ice for help in loosing the Belly . But also . Once apon a time bp guidelines where your age plus 100 . And when if it went over 160 it was time to treat it.
But that does not sell medicine does it ? So when the pharma companies changed it to 120 , overnight millions of people suddenly where in danger . I have that article bookmarked .

@@boracay12 Hi 👋 again. After reading your comment, I Googled the European guidelines. For people 60 and older, baseline is 140/90. Makes me angry 😡 at the greed and corruption of pharmaceutical companies, especially in the US! My husband was prescribed Losartin today and I’m freaking out over the numerous side effects that I’m reading in the YT comments. Thank you for sharing your numbers. They seem acceptable for your stage in life based on the European guidelines. A while ago, I watched Dr John Bergman (chiropractor) give a talk about blood pressure being an adaptive function. Our bodies raise it as it needs to to keep it alive and therefore it has to fluctuate. Taking blood pressure lowering meds is telling it to stop being so smart. It’s like a smart device! Is there such a thing as too high of a blood pressure reading? I suppose, but these numbers established by a board of about 5 individuals who meet every few years are arbitrary in the name of greed/corruption. Follow the 💰. Over the years, the acceptable range kept getting lower and lower. 🤦‍♀️

But, I had started taking Losartan 7 months earlier. Among other things was this terrible dry hacking cough. It didn't start until I had been on the Losartin for about 3 months. I literally felt like I was trying to cough my guts out. My lungs hurt a little. But the PULL from deep in my stomach was very painful. After 5 months after taking it I told my Dr. It was getting worse and I was concerned. He told me to quit immediately. That it was the medicine. It was almost a month to the day after I quit that I had the rupture. Rushed to ER and had the emergency surgery. Recovery was rough but I'm grateful I quit taking it when I did.

I have been taking losartan 50mg for about five years and never associated my problems with Losartan with muscle problems. I have severe
cramps in my legs, 0:17 thighs and feet. I take OTC Hyland’s Leg Cramps caplets which have saved me from greater and longer severe pain each time.
My cramps are happening more often. Prehaps there is something else I can take instead.
Thank you for your important medical information. ❤

I no longer have legs cramps after getting on magnesium. Take before bedtime because it aids in sleep also. Magnesium oil spray rubbed into the cramp also helps get rid of it.

Yay Wisconsin and go Packers - but I simply don't believe there's that much interaction between the average pharmacist and the average doctor. Neither has time for it. For myself, I had a dental issue and the dentist took my BP and said I was "stroke level" and couldn't fix my tooth. So I went all natural, with eliminating sugar and caffeine, longer walks with the dogs, beet juice, coconut water, nattokinase, CoQ10 mainly, and tried to get hold of my VA doctor. He was willing to write a prescription, but approved of my approach. Drugs don't fix the problem, as we know. They manage the symptoms and create an income stream for the pharmaceutical industry. Over a one-month period, I went from 189/129 to 136/91. How's Bob doing?

I had uncomfortable side effect, then my prescription company changed the manufacturer and I had adverse side effects from losartan , I end up in the ER twice. And I am still trying to recover. People ought to be aware of manufacturer changes and possible side effects. Losartan went from lowing blood pressure to spiking it, causing tachycardia and adrenaline surges. My heart rate went to 100 just from taking a dose. Now I can't take anything, betablockers drop it to low and then spike it, channel calcium blockers caused full blown akathsia in me. The only one that didn't cause a severe reaction was lisinpril but I got the cough. losartan ruined my sister and what I have taken before I can't take now, my only hope is for time to heal so I can take something, I am so sensitized right now and frightened.

I sense the typical “packaging of information” that pharmacists and physicians use when it comes to blood pressure medications. There is a tendency to mitigate side effects so people don’t stop taking meds.

I'm a little depressed. 8 months ago, i was diagnosed with hypertension. I was 296 lbs., lazy and never exercised, my blood pressure was at 180/126 and had to be put on medication. After I've been taking the medication, it went down. I still wanted to be off the meds, so I thought enough is enough. I had to change. I changed my lifestyle, changed my diet to low fat vegan meat and also eating more fruits and veggies. I've been exercising 1-2 hours daily. In the last 8 months I've lost 70 lbs. and in better shape at age 44 than I ever was in my 20s. The depressing part is it didn't work for my blood pressure. it would still be 180/126 if I wasn't taking medication. all my levels are normal, and heart is great after my heart ultrasound. how is this possible?

Americans, particularly seniors are tested too much and over-medicated. Dr. Nortin Hadler points out these dangers in his books. For those of us who are older, his book on aging is an eye-opener. Rethinking Aging: Growing Old and Living Well in an Overtreated Society. His other books are great, too. Worried Sick and the later book, The Last Well Person. Much of what is done is either not necessary or dangerous.
