I was a 40yo, went to my doctor for the first time in 15 years. My blood pressure was 180/120, he sent me for tests and I had type 2 diabetes. Two years later my blood pressure is usually around 125/80, i reversed my diabetes. All this with no meds just exercise and a change in diet.
True diet is important. I've watched Dr. Sarah Hallberg videos She talked about zero carbs. May the good doc rest in peace. Honestly i feel like I'm addicted to carbs, sugar, and coffee. Lord help me, I need Jesus 🙏
That is great! Congrats on doing the work! Most doctors don't want to do the work to find the underlying problem. They just want to drug you which in return only gets you sicker.
I so agree with you. The pattern here in the United States is to promote medicine. I watched another video, created by a teaching physician, prepared for future doctors to use in preparation for their exams, and that video categorized blood pressure medications and exposed the very real side effects that, long-term, are worse than the hypertension itself.
Agree. Doctors want you on BP medications, and the doom and gloom mentality is to common. I honestly think its why the BP standards were changed, so even people in the 120s would have to be put on something. To many people getting off meds, they got to get them back on Pharma drugs to make the companies money.
I'm 54 and 7 months ago Dr said I needed to take 2 meds 4 high blood pressure. I hate meds so I started walking 2 to 4 mikes a day. Lemon water eating better no fast food and less pizza. Last month Dr said your pressure is normal now are you taking the meds I said no just living better he was impressed and said ok no need 4 the meds if your eating better and exercise and NO ALCOHOL. Yayyyyyy. I lost 10 pounds and feel great. Great post dr. You're 100 percent correct
@madzgaming1887 I'm awesome today I just got off scale I'm the lowest I been in 10yrs 190. I'm super happy. It's been so hard to lose 24 pounds I was 214. It's taken like 2 yrs lol but I did it. I'm about to reach 2 million steps walking since February thsts 1000 miles. So walking 8 to 10 thousand steps a day and very lite exercise with stretch bands for 20 min a day and add more fruit and veggies no fast food!!! I do cheat with pizza and Chinese food lol very very light alcohol. That's my secret. Thanks for asking. How are you? I hope doing well. Happy holidays to you ✌️❤️🙏
fear is a doctors friend, it means you will do what he wants you to do, maybe the doctor really believes the bp being high is super dangerous or maybe he is trying to get more money out of you, who knows, another is how many people were fine until they suggested this test or that test for cancer and theyfind polyps and scare you into getting them removed (costing thousands) or getting cancer gettting chemo, when you were not sick and how many people did not get the tests died of other causes other than cancer many years later and never knew they had cancer.
Dino Carlucci - I was put on bp meds (and I told the doctor my bp is fine at home) She said, "Well, we don't want your bp going up when you're out and about." She wan't my regular doctor. She was in a clinic I started going to when I retired. So I got the med and started getting dizzy. I just quit taking them.
Marilyn King Went to one of those doc in a box places several years ago for a terribly sore throat..turned out nothing major, no strep or anything but my blood pressure was quite elevated b/c of the stress of the pain (could hardly swallow) and I definitely have white coat hypertension. Anyway, after the nurse took my bp he comes in and starts asking if my chest hurts. I said no, not until now! Anyway he put me on the pills and all my self checks were fine...until I went back for a follow up! You guessed it..high again! It did spur me into action though to lose weight and kick the pills but I have always felt the true cause of it was the stress of having it taken in the doc’s offic3 and the resulting conversation about it.
I have noticed that more and more medical practitioners are more inclined to go the healthy natural route these days, and less inclined to prescribe drugs, which seems to have become a commission-based system.
@@catherineelainebaxter4609 Unfortunately that has not been my experience as most doctor today in The US don't mention anyway of trying to get rid of the high b/p except to prescribe b/p meds. When i` have discussed the Helsinki b/p and other studies they would patronize me by saying "I'm aware of those studies" . They never talked about how to get rid of it naturally. They seemed to think that the only thing available is b/p medications. Never ever thought of trying to see what is causing the high b/p in my body. I have seen several physicians, men and women with the same results and I have had excellent medical insurance coverage, so they were paid well.
You're right but that's what this 4-profit predatory Allopathic pharmaceutical industry is all about, it doesn't care about the individual or any other treatment but theirs which is full of toxins (which create bad side effects) they are not good for us....
@@kellikelli4413 True! At one time all involved in medicine…homeopaths, m.D’s, naturopaths…were pretty much on a level playing field. Drug companies changed it forever …cow-towing to MD’s and over almost a century later..here we are.
You were the doctor that told me about magnesium glycinate for inflammation. I walked with a limp for months because of pain in my knees.I started taking magnesium and after a week my pain was gone and has stayed gone for more than a year. Honestly, I just want to give you a hug ! Thank you so much !
Finally, a doctor who provides education before medication. A teacher (meaning of doctor) versus a drug puppet pill pusher. Love all your videos - only hope your colleagues are also watching. Thank you.
I agree. In the US Drs have no interest in taking more than 10 mins and curing or finding root causes..they only give pills..sad state of affairs in medicine..
I think all they want to do is give big pharma more of our hard earn dollars and want us gone before our true time my aunt lived to be 102 and she never went to the dr and ate all her home grown stuff and she eat hard lard like crazy in fact she died from old age to so go figure what all the dr.s are trying to do like today just think get a shot and try to live but then some die within 24 of it so now I think God will help us all
@@healergodwinks7796 And to add a little something right now, the Medicare sign-up is happening in the USA to get senior citizens to sign on to government-subsidized Advantage Care Plans that give insurance plan administrators $1000 US. kickback pay for each enrollee signed on to replace Medicare for a Drug Prescription plan. DRUGS are a MAJOR problem HERE because of Big Pharma and insurance conglomerates! The USA drugs its people very well and the drug and insurance economies never suffer consequences for how they do business. Health care should not be absolved of this critique either.
To be fair you arnt standing between him and his $3500 Lexus payment. Doctors are merely the middle man between you and the prudent info they go and google after seeing you. Doctors are so iver paid now days it's sick.

Spot on! Thank you! Luckily I don't let doctors scare me into taking meds. Found out Monday mine was 200/120, he said I need meds. I said no. Bought a BP meter from the Chemist, stopped drinking booze for 3 days, and it was 160/98. Went back to the doctor, and he confirmed the low reading with his own measuring device. So, I am going to stop drinking, and do intermittent fasting, because apparently I am now on the low end of Diabetes. I will turn that around also. Bad lifestyle got me there, so it makes sense that a good life style will reverse these readings. Thanks again for this video. Glad there are doctors like you out there. So helpful!
@@diana7676 Well, the blood pressure went down very quickly to fairly normal, I keep a daily record. The doctor is amazed. I am not, because I know it was the booze. Starting to swim also makes a huge different to my daily BP measurements. And doing a 7 day water fast, that was amazing.
@@sissi8610good for you! So many doctors complain that their patients don’t listen to them and change their lifestyle - I think they assume most patients won’t exercise discipline and so they push meds instead.

Great Video! Anectdote: Went to see doctor, took bp, 140ish/90ish, Did not ask me anything about my lifestyle, diet, sleep, exercise, etc.. 6'3" 185lbs, probably single digit body fat, deadlift 350lbs, bench 200, can run a 8 minute mile, eat lots of veggies, fruit, almost no processed food, don't smoke, don't drink, Isleep 8..5 hrs a day, explained how I loathe hospitals and that I was fasting and had a half cup of black coffee 30 min. earlier on empty stomach. She then proceeded to tell me I have high blood pressure with the obligatory dire consequences and to think about taking meds. I literally laughed out loud at her. Incredible!
Same here my Doc prescribed me high blood pressure medication I read the side effects and my response was hell no I am not taking that garbage. I have an intense workout routine. I do a drop set of 5 sets of 4 at 195 lbs 5sets of 5 reps at 180 lbs and 5 sets of 10 at 125 lbs wide grip . I am 62 I speed walk at 3.3 to 3.5 mph I do 2 miles under 37 minutes.
You are amazing! My husband went through this and it’s been so hard since the diagnosis of high blood pressure (which is probably just white coat syndrome). You are the best doctor I have ever come across: knowledgeable, calming, kind, compassionate and extremely informative. My husband and I wish we could move from NY to York so you could be his doctor.
My late father was a physician and always told us stay away from stress and doctors..you will live to 200..never forgot that advice and so far it has worked brilliantly...
This guy is spot on. It exactly happened the way he explained it with my doctor's visit. So as the dr was completely numb in giving any advice except when he took my money, I had to figure out what to do. I started walking, try to cut out sugar and salt, and started eating more healthy foods. After a week my figures are starting to come down
I’ve watched a few of your blood pressure helps and you totally take the fear away a few months ago I watched one of yours shows because I was having side effects from my blood pressure pill I was dizziness I could stand in the store and I was gonna pass out never got that until I took this pill so I listen to more shows I started drinking hibiscus tea lost some weight started taking aged garlic One magnesium before I went to bed I worked with my doctor ate better I completely did not realize the junk I was eating and the sodium I was taking in what a difference for now my blood pressure is normal off pills please anyone out there do your own research do not come off your medicine without doctors helping but this was two months ago and that’s how fast I’ve changed my lifestyle but worked with my doctor but I want to thank you again because you are the only doctor that brought all understanding down to my level and I know you’re a doctor that just doesn’t throw people on pills please never stop doing these shows your must be helping hundreds you’re one of a kind may many blessings come your way
I made use of this item and found out pleasing good results. The treatment plan BloodPressureControl99.blogspot.com that I followed has got my blood pressure to 152/92 during my examination at a healthcare center. It has then returned my high blood pressure to a harmless level after I had used it. The guideline has become very useful to me. It has assisted to manage my blood pressure. .
I’m sitting here crying because I wish I could find a doctor that is so compassionate as you and cares about people’s health instead just another number. For months I’ve been complaining about symptoms that were associated with heart disease and finally was sent to have a angioplasty and had to have two stents in my LDL. I’m 80 years old and always been very active until this past year. Hopefully this will get me back to feeling better.
As a tutor in Medicine I would say this an absolutely excellent exposition on blood pressure result interpretation. Grateful for his time in producing these videos.

But you will note in the Media Indian men are never shown, only their women, in adverts, even when cooking you will have a Black chef, and Italian chef, and Irish Chef, a Russian Chef, Au Aussie Chef, a Kiwi Chef, making Indian food. Indian males are persona non grata in this country. watch the BBC and you will see over 82 Indian women, and the ITV are even worse to every 1 Indian presenter. Yet the Indian males (Hindu and Sikh) are the ones who amalgamate and integrate. But they are never shown. They want the women, the food, the Yoga, Culture but not the Indian male! Thats the reality. After the BLM and death of Floyd the Brits and media will bend over backwards to have blacks everywhere over 180 Indian males have died but this has never been exposed and because Hindu and Sikhs do not become violent or pander to the media these are the forgotten!
He has a lovely personality, optimistic and sensible outlook Mon health ! I too am worried about my doctor's attitude about blood pressure. The tablets I have been prescribed has totally messed up my health, my metabolism and circulation. I wish doctors would have this i individual attitude to patients instead of their uniform idea of what a patient should be regarding their blood pressure. etc. This doctor's intelligent outlook is unique. We definitely need more like him !
Have found this at a late date but presume that you are still up to date. I am a retired G.P. and have always attempted to look for causes of disease rather than just the signs of disease. Since retirement in the NHS I have focussed on psychotherapy/ mentoring and the physical effects of life style and cultural habits which lead to physical damage. It is a breath of fresh air to hear your analysis which I fully agree with. It is time that medicine is taught in a more holistic way including all of the nitty gritty of our physical machine as well the fundamentals of our external impacts. The individual is a part of a wider whole.
My blood pressure is high due to grief. My husband died suddenly, two months ago leaving me with two small kids. My diet is impeccable. Stress is a bad thing.
Much sympathy and blessings to you and your children. It's difficult to handle such a loss, especially with young ones to look after. I pray that you have support and help and wish you godspeed.
Yes! I’m thrilled to have found him!! I’m currently going through a BP lowering situation ordered by my doctor. I’m taking my BP twice daily as he increased my meds and my numbers are all over the board. I feel so much better and less anxious after this video. He’s “just what the doctor ordered” lol
Dr Gupta is amazing, 10 minutes of listening to him and his easy explanation of high bp really eases my anxiety, I have been on a suppressed dose of thyroxine for 21 years which I've recently found out can elevate bp 🤤 hello, why didn't my GP know that !
I dont drink or smoke but, im physically disabled with spina bifida. I had my bp done last week it was 180/49 i dont eat too much salt and never have it on food so what could be up
Thank you! Sure wish the doctors around here thought the way you do, doctor, about investigating it further, than just ripping off a sheet from Rx pad. Seems the drs, and some NPs, at the med school where my dr is, has the BP taken as soon as you walk into the room! LPN sets the machine to take it twice in a row within a couple minutes, then leaves the room. I have been over and over about this with them about letting me sit for awhile before taking it. They claim it doesn't matter. I have read that it does. Also, Not to have our legs crossed, but have feet flat on the floor, and have arm supported, and not hanging down. I have checked it at home, and when I did those steps, my readings were lower. When I did them at the dr office last few times, they were amazed that my BP was lower. I told them about the position to take the BP correctly, and they just scoffed, claimed they had nothing to do with it!! So, they are Not assuring their help staff is instructing patients how to sit properly, they leave the room, and then if someone's BP is higher, they push BP meds?!? I see some weird pattern, here. Kickbacks? They have denied kickbacks. I still suspect, otherwise, they would be interested in taking the BP correctly!! And yes, they want me to take those meds. I have refused them. They are so darn obsessed by the BP readings, but not interested in it being taken correctly. And not interested in anything else but meds for it. And they are at a medical school.🙄🤔🤨
Since I was 25 I was told I have a 'high' blood pressure, did not fancy myself taking life time anti-hypertensives, I ignored it and moved on with my life. 20 years on, no kidney issues, no vision issues (in fact still better than 20/20) and no other issues. Yes, this doctor is right, normal blood pressure seems to be different for everyone, you have to find it for you.
I was similarly told at 20 I had hypertension. (What were your numbers?) I didn't want to be on meds either! Kidneys were checked as I was slim and young they thought I had kidney damage. Everything was fine. I always felt fine. My numbers were very high though... like 200s over 120s. I took the meds till they run out and then was always slack being young and didn't keep a check on it. Every pregnancy they of course put me on meds. Now in my 40s I stay on meds as I know the risk. ☹️

How I wish all doctors are trained in this kind of approach to health care. This is what I would call a holistic, humanistic and conscientious approach, and on the soft side of money making. Thanks Doc, God bless.
I just went through this after an ER visit for feeling weird. Of course BP was a little high. Subsequent Dr. visit had me buying a cuff, checking myself daily for 2 weeks with 2 more office visits.

Love the focus on root causes. This is so lacking in our medical protocols these days. It’s ok to put people on meds to prevent major injury but the goal should be to find a way to get off them if possible
Drs don’t care about the root causes of health problems anymore. They just want to push you through for more $. More kick backs from drug company’s. More $ for them

Did you see a cardiologist tho?? I just saw my regular family doctor, 15 years ago...when I was 33. I went through a very stressful event and got hbp as a result, 15 years later, I still have it and have been on meds.
This video just showed up and I was happy I watched it. After 2 very stressful years with no other lifestyle issues ( no etoh, no smoking, 87 lbs at the time) I wound up with PVC and HTN. I’m a healthcare worker and was mandated to get Covid vaccines or get fired, my 11 year relationship ended, and then my mother who was 79 got a new dx of cancer requiring a BTK amputation despite treatments. This left me with stress induced hypertension and despite years of meditation practice I have not been able to adequately get it down to what it was prior. So now I’m on medication. My goal is to get off of it. Thank you for this video. If I look at a BP monitor my BP goes up! I know I have to do better with more exercise and less work and stress. Stress makes us sick in body mind and spirit. Thanks for the reassurance even from 3 year old video!👍🏽☺️

Best doctor I have ever seen . We need more honest doctors like you. I’ve had the 24 hour reading machine not the most comfy especially when you are sleeping but the reading was lower than when I visit the health centre, well done doctor.
Thanks for this video. For years I've had whitecoat syndrome. I had a continuous bp monitor earlier in the year and all was perfect. I went to the same gp yesterday and he freaked out again with my high bp in the office even though he had my continuous bp results in front of him. This cycle is causing great strain and actually starts to reinforce a problem that's not there. Appreciate your insights.
My thought is that many doctors are willing to give you a pill to correct your blood pressure because it is easier to do that than to convince you to change your diet to improve your health. Once I understood this I changed my attitude and started asking the Doc for remedies that did not include medication.
Yay. Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Amen. Love you all. May hod bless. Yep. Me to. If i. Die it will be from natural causes to. How can a low income poor perdon eat all organic foods and organic meats. This is me. Yep. The doctors and the food industry pills etc Is a money making racket for sure. I certainly try to change my diet. But how can i. On low income. We all should be able to fix or prepare any food we all love to eat. Where.s the beef. Chicken. Pork bacon and pork chops etc. All org a nic. Wow. I need some help here. We all cant live on salad alone. Or juices. Milk. Etc. Im lost. Thank you. Love you all. Keep on keepin on. That is reasonable priced. How much is your grocery bill weekly and what do you eat and what store do you shop at. That way when we all can change our diets we wont need to worry about the eating habits of measuring 4 oz. Of this and that. Our. Stomachs can only hold so much food anyway. But depriving pople of the food they was rsised on and love. Thats pretty bad. Food should never be taken away from anyone. This is our bodies to feed for our lives to live. Our life to live that jesus gave us to explore the beauty and greatness of this land he provided for all of us. When we have our health we have everything. As i told my. Doctor again. The food keeps all of us alive and organic water to. Skip the faucet filter thing. Thats no good. Now it sure would be nice or super great if. All the doctors would be food doctors instead of pill poping doctors. We all would live longer and you all can make more money than ever. Then we all get our check ups with a clean bill of health. Now if we break a leg arm or need surgery of any kind. I dont know. But some kind of healing leaves from a forest to heal the body of. Whatever the surgery is. And the broken part would heal. Maybe a week or less. No pain whatsoever at anytime. Then all doctors would. Be blessd in a very special way. All doctors suppose to help save lives not kill people. Jesus does the healing. The doctors is given the brains to do the surgeries etc. With the knowledge they are gifted with. They are a servant to jesus this w a y. So my doctor was very speachless and she didnt say a word other than besure to get your. C.vaxx shot at walgreens and set appt. For your mammogram and see you in february. I said thank you. I took my mammogram got the letter and i was negative. No problems. Love you all. I do pray for you all.may god bless.
I just love, love, love this doctor. Everytime my imagination goes wild about my blood pressure, Dr. Gupta brings me back down to earth. I cannot thank you ENOUGH.
This was the best overview of BP have heard to date and I really appreciate that you shared it with all of us. What I liked the best was explaining the factors of why blood pressure increases, for instance the heart needing to pump more blood to feed the fat cells in an overweight person. For me visualizing the reason for a problem is key and you've done that for us here. Thank you so much Dr. Gupta and I look forward to more of your fantastic videos! BTW you just gained a new subscriber today!
This is an excellent video on this much discussed subject. However, there is something that the majority of healthcare professionals seem to ignore. As an ex-hydraulic engineer I know a lot about line pressure and what influences it. One thing that always increases line pressure is restricting the flow by say partially closing a valve or squashing the pipeline. This is exactly what happens when one's blood-pressure is measured in the conventional way by compressing an artery. The mere action of measuring the pressure therefore increases it!
I told my Dr. that the squeezing of my arm by the bp machine was increasing my bp. She acts as if I don't know what I'm talking about and won't refill my script unless I return to the office and get my bp taken again by the same bp machine!
Interesting! I refuse to accept that I have high blood pressure when I do everything possible to keep healthy. I exercise 5 days a week eat healthy foods most of the time.
Ohhhh my gosh.. A well educated informed doctor who does not just want to administer life long medication straight away. Also a doctor who sees and understands that every indervidual is just that.. Diffrent from the next 140 over 90 may be high for Bob but normal for Betty so to speak I love your video and have now subscribed my friend
Thank God a doctor that is all about helping people and not a pay check and putting every patient on pills. God bless you. Wish there was more real doctors out there
Thank you Dr. Gupta. I will confront my doctor with these questions simply because "I eat a healthy "plant-based" diet, I don't drink or smoke, I don't have a busy life style and I do monitor my BP at home!
Good stuff Doc. My normal BP is 110/70 but when I visit my doctor the top reading has been as high as 133. I usually blame it on sitting in the waiting room. He 's not the least bit worried though and gives the same information as you. There should be more enlightened doctors like you guys around.
Great to hear a common sense explanation. My previous GP demonstrated that my first blood pressure test at a visit was high, but he chatted for ten minutes, checked it again and it had dropped from 160 + to around 150. After chatting for another ten minutes he did a third check and it had dropped to low 140s. He convinced me that there was nothing to worry about. Currently, the new GP is checking every week and trying hard to get a steady low figure below 140 with pills. I sense that this is not a good idea, and I appreciate your assurance.
Well Colin...you had an exceptional "previous" doctor..... most are content with a 5 minute, at best, consultation....a prescription & out you go. Pills are not automatically the way forward. As this chap says: "Find the cause" . Makes sense to me.
Not all dr's do a second check, some are just here 4💲💲, honestly there's really good dr's out there who truly has out going concern 4 others👏 Shalom Beloved🌿
@@soulmusic475 yeah min keeps trying to put me on diabetic meds. Was diagnosed with type 2 and in 3 months brought it down to pre-diabetes. Changed my diet. Now I'm exercising again...stopped for 2 years. Let's see if that drops my diabetes number lower. It has dropped my BP to 115-127/76-87
Thank you Doctor … I am truly grateful to you for taking the time to explain the issue of High Blood Pressure. Your style of presentation is truly very professional and made me feel very comfortable. I am in the age group (63) that needs to be more attentive to daily routine and lifestyle, I have taken note of all your suggestions.
I wish my doctor had told me this 5 years ago when I was diagnosed. This video has ease the stress and worry because for years the numbers paralysed me with stress. Thank you. I was in a job that required medical check up by company medic department every year and that didn't make it easy. In the end I was grounded because my BP was considered too high. Thank you
I don’t know how I ran into your video, but it came @ the perfect time and I needed to hear this. I just happened to be going through this same exact dilemma about my BP all of a sudden becoming high. In the past week, I had been having a migraine for like 6 days in a row, taking Advil & excedrin, but it would come back. So I couldn’t take it anymore and decided to go to an urgent care facility and my BP was 160! They gave me 2 Tylenol and a shot of Motrin in the arm and said go see your Dr. So I go to see an emergency cardiologist. My pressure was now 150 and 155 in the other arm. I told the Dr that I don’t want to be put on meds, we came to an agreement about making lifestyle changes. He leaves and comes back with a heart monitor, prescribes me a medication…does not tell me it’s a “BP medication” and wants me to come back in 2 weeks for a stress test. I took the medication, my migraine went away, but then I decided to look up what this medication was, (Metoprolol Tartrate). I did not know that it was a BP medication; this is not what we had agreed on and it said that it had to be taken for the rest of my life and that is not what I wanted to do. So I stopped taking them after 3 doses. I hope I’m not doing myself harm by stopping without consulting with him. This is a new Dr and doesn’t know anything about my health. I’m just hoping that with this heart monitor and the stress test, that he can get to the bottom of my issue and not have to prescribe me any BP medication.
Wish I had you for my doctor! You sound caring, kind, and truly about patient improvement. I'm so tired of doctors handing me prescriptions like candy.
I gave up going to see a GP over ten years ago, and never been ill since. All they ever wanted to do was find an excuse to throw meds down my throat...
You just wrote one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Stay on top of your health brother! If you have HBP maybe you need to start exercising? While pills aren't always the solution, something else may indeed be wrong.
I normally don’t have HBP, but, yesterday I had a headache, and my wife suggested measuring my blood pressure? It turned out to be 185/95. We got all excited, and went to the doctor right away. They measured it to be 145/75? Then they gave me some medications. The doctor didn’t ask me any damn thing about my life style, or suggested reducing salt or increasing walking, ....I lost respect to all freaking doctors.
The thing that makes my BP go up is getting my blood pressure reading taken. 160/90 in the office. Average BP in the hospital over a 24-hour period 130/78. He's right!
My arm has so much pain, REAL PAIN, from the cuff tightening that I can feel my heart racing when the assistant just reaches for the machine. 😢 So yeah, my numbers are high, every time. I always refuse the meds. I feel like it is probably normal otherwise, or at least close enough.
Hi. I was told by my Dr that I get "white coat" blood pressure. That is, it's high when I'm seeing the doctor. I said it makes sense because I only visit when I'm sick. At home, when I'm well, it's normal.
Next time in the office prior to having the BP done relax, and in slow succession take deep breaths and slowly exhale all the way. Do this calmly 10 times then have them take your BP. It will be your normal BP of 130/78 or slightly lower.
@@BlackWolfSpirit That is great. I go to Kaiser and the arm band always pinches and hurts. It's important to tell them to loosen up the cuff or the reading will always be too high. The way your doctor does it sounds much better.
Thanks doc ! I’m so happy to come across this video because it’s highly applicable to my condition. My BO numbers have been high ranging 140/90 -150/95 . I have been avoiding medication because I truly want to change the underlying causes as you mentioned. Last week after 3 days a of yoga meditation retreat done at home my numbers came down to 120/80 because my mind was so relaxed but a week later it has gone up. Im exercising more , reduced salt intake & practicing calming techniques.
Good for you. A combination of regular yoga and walking about a mile a day five days a week keeps mine in check. Over two years I gradually lost 20 pounds. Just from walking 🚶 🚶♂️ although I was told I would need medication 💊 for the rest of my life, I was able to avoid that.
Thank you. You’re a God send! Discovered randomly that my BP was high... 155/100 so went whole food plant based and started exercising. Now my average is 135/85 and getting better every week! So stoked! Losing weight too!!!
bala murali yes absolutely! I went from really high of 185/112 to an average of 135/85 in 4 months and after 8 months my new average is 117/75 -- Zero medication! I adopted a hard-core whole food plant-based diet...
@@bryanauer Bryan, I’m trying to do the same whole food plant-based diet in order to lower my blood pressure and lose some weight. I was eating a lot of potatoes and now my naturopath told me that my blood sugar has increased. Have you had any experience with this?
I want to thank you for caring for people to the point where you address pertinent issues that may create stress for those who may be experiencing physical discomforts. It's refreshing to know there are actually 'healers' within the medical profession.
You are amazing Dr, as a nurse for over 25 years, I always had doubts about Bp measures, myself 59 years of age BP of average 149/88 average, much lower in the evenings….don’t smoke, drink within guidelines if not less, exercise daily, sleep well, no stress . My Dr put me on medication…side effects unreal…he didn’t believe me…stopped taking them, it did reduce bp to a level of 120/78, but not worth the side effects. I feel great and after listening to you know it’s all BS. Thanks ,
yes, my liver function tests became abnormal due to my BP meds...went off and they returned to normal. am concentrating on healthy lifestyle. thanks Doc! I feel that too many MD's are going off of "best practice" scripts rather than using their intelligence.
I absolutely agree with this. My BP was deemed to be very high with similar values but even at my advanced age (77), I have a very healthy lifestyle and exemplary high fibre, non dairy, vegan/vegetarian diet and all tests including ECG, blood.urine, cholesterol, etc were normal. No-one seems to want to address this paradox so I am currently taking Amlodipine (no side effects, fortunately) but this video does make me wonder and I feel that a visit to a cardiologist may be a worthwhile investment.
Absolutely true story. Doctors soppost to be asked the patient how is she/he? Not to frightened the patients. Doctors only to guide patients but not to heal Patients. Many thanks Dr. You are working for other's sake. God bless you
Wow! I wish all Doctors practiced in the way that you do! Thank You so much for your explanations and searching for causes instead of treating symptoms!
Thank you. This video has open my eyes. I have high anxiety about high blood pressure. At home, it is lower than when I am in the doctor's office. I will start to pay more attention to the underlying signs. Thank you and may God continue to bless you.
One of the best videos I have seen on BP... THE CLARITY AND KINDNESS OF DR GUPTA SHINES THROUGH. I have recommended this to all my friends who are open to learning... Very grateful to Dr Gupta... Please carry on the good work
Thanks for another great presentation. I use resistance breathing to bring my BP down. Works great. Also I have learned after 25 years dealing with palpitations that drinking a couple ounces of ginger ale and getting a good burp will bring heart beats back to normal. Our body is an amazing machine. I will be 85 soon and love knowing what to do without panicking every time. Gives you more control. God Bless!
I can barely get the doctor to look at me when I’m sitting in front of him/her, they talk to me while looking & typing on their computer, I answer while they still looking at the computer, would like to ask them these questions if they even gave me the time 😏 leave there confused 😐 I get more out of watching your channel I learn more, and then I go research how to help myself holistically, it’s working, Thank you for taking the time making these videos, most docs only interested in bums on seats, they not interested in you as an individual, and it’s great to see that many people are learning to take their health into their own hand, yes get the diagnosis from him then go figure what’s going to work for you
Rose Marchant you need to look for a new Dr. Use pauses when speaking to the Dr. pause when he/she is looking away and start the conversation when eye contact is made. They will soon pick up on your queues. Then add something like I’m just making sure your getting everything noted correctly because if you go over their notes you will see they don’t always include all the signs and symptoms you describe. I had that issue before.
Thank you so much. It’s very refreshing to meet a doctor willing to explain things to patients instead of just handing out a prescription. Have a great trip to the U.S.A.!
YES !! This is why I don’t go to the doctor, they all just want to give you a prescription for whatever symptom it is, instead of trying to find out what’s causing it. Why can’t they be like you 🤔❤️🤷♀️
I don't find that all doctors want to give meds but I have to look for doctors open to blended medicine. Warn them upfront that you are looking for options in your solutions, referrals to others such as nutritionists. Be willing to explore those options. Most people would rather take a pill than make a lifestyle change and doctors get frustrated in this area also. Challenge them to be better doctors and I've found I get better results.
Excellent! Thank you. I was recently diagnosed with hypertension, and my doctor immediately recommended blood pressure medication with life-style change. However, neither she nor the two practice nurses I saw volunteered any advice whatsoever about life style. It is as if medication is the easy, go-to solution to get immediate results in terms of the BP numbers, while the more time-consuming, but necessary, conversations about life-style are neglected, presumably because there are too many demands on clinicians' time. Thank you again.
Thanks for the three questions and being a great doctor! My doc asks me to record my blood pressure at home 2 or 3 times per day a week or two before my appointment. He'll put my home BP diary in my file. He'll also check my monitor for accuracy with his if I bring it in. My BP always spikes at his office visit. He tells me not to worry and promises he's not trying to kill me - lol.
It’s really hard to get to see a doctor! Some time ago I was told I had high blood pressure and put on medication. Then another doctor told me I didn’t have high blood pressure and was taken off the medication. Now a clinical pharmacist has said I need to take medication and I’m trying it, but it doesn’t suit me. You are right about my life style and I’m a stressed person. Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll try again to see a doctor. Even that is stressful!
What was your diet sir may i know please?
True diet is important. I've watched Dr. Sarah Hallberg videos She talked about zero carbs. May the good doc rest in peace. Honestly i feel like I'm addicted to carbs, sugar, and coffee. Lord help me, I need Jesus 🙏
That is great! Congrats on doing the work! Most doctors don't want to do the work to find the underlying problem. They just want to drug you which in return only gets you sicker.

Marjorie, I fully agree with you. The advice give by this doctor is indeed the healthiest approach.
💯
I so agree with you. The pattern here in the United States is to promote medicine. I watched another video, created by a teaching physician, prepared for future doctors to use in preparation for their exams, and that video categorized blood pressure medications and exposed the very real side effects that, long-term, are worse than the hypertension itself.

Agree. Doctors want you on BP medications, and the doom and gloom mentality is to common. I honestly think its why the BP standards were changed, so even people in the 120s would have to be put on something. To many people getting off meds, they got to get them back on Pharma drugs to make the companies money.
You have spoken more sense in just over 13 mins than my doctor and nurse have done in years!

If there's one thing that causes high blood pressure, it is the mention of high blood pressure.
fear is a doctors friend, it means you will do what he wants you to do, maybe the doctor really believes the bp being high is super dangerous or maybe he is trying to get more money out of you, who knows, another is how many people were fine until they suggested this test or that test for cancer and theyfind polyps and scare you into getting them removed (costing thousands) or getting cancer gettting chemo, when you were not sick and how many people did not get the tests died of other causes other than cancer many years later and never knew they had cancer.
I didnt have HBP untill I was in the doctors waiting room on other business.
Thejoeordinary1 - yes, that will do it! But it's good you chose to use it to your benefit. And I'm glad you're off the pills!
I am so impressed with him!
As a retired RN, Dr Gupta's perspective is SO FAR ABOVE the vast majority of mainstream medical practioners today!!
I have noticed that more and more medical practitioners are more inclined to go the healthy natural route these days, and less inclined to prescribe drugs, which seems to have become a commission-based system.
Remember that not all med folk are in the top grades and just skim by.

Fantastic presentation. Helps to have these health subjects explained so clearly. Thanks a lot.
Thank you thank you thank you ...they also need to check meds your on that can increase your bp.

Excellent. I have protein in my urine but my kidney tests r ok. what should I do I am from India.sir.
What we need is 1 million more doctors just like you! Excellent presentation doctor ! thank you 🙏🏼
But you will note in the Media Indian men are never shown, only their women, in adverts, even when cooking you will have a Black chef, and Italian chef, and Irish Chef, a Russian Chef, Au Aussie Chef, a Kiwi Chef, making Indian food.
We need more doctors like you, it’s really rare to find someone with that kind of “honesty” knowledge.
Rare indeed.
I wish he was my Doctor,
Have found this at a late date but presume that you are still up to date.

I am so sorry for your loss! My husband also died when we had 2 children at home. Remember you are stronger than you think! I will be praying for you!

He is an honest, skilled man whom I respect greatly.
Dr Gupta is an amazing human being. His dedication and efforts to educate us are greatly appreciated and admirable. Thank you so much.

My thought is that many doctors are willing to give you a pill to correct your blood pressure because it is easier to do that than to convince you to change your diet to improve your health. Once I understood this I changed my attitude and started asking the Doc for remedies that did not include medication.

Wow, this dr. actually uses common sense! Love this guy!
I'm more an engineer than a doctor, John.... what you say makes perfect sense to me. I just assumed the BP machine took that into consideration!
Interesting! I refuse to accept that I have high blood pressure when I do everything possible to keep healthy. I exercise 5 days a week eat healthy foods most of the time.
Yes...the blood pressure machines squeeze my arm into agony. Of course blood pressure will rise.

Hevis not indian
The Best discussion on BP I've ever heard. Thank you so much.

I gave up going to see a GP over ten years ago, and never been ill since. All they ever wanted to do was find an excuse to throw meds down my throat...
Right on I feel the same way
I agree👍👍

@@pamclyncke5096 potatoes will increase blood sugar.
Your explanation on blood pressure is comprehensive, and takes away unnecessary anxiety, and promotes life style change to tackle it, thanks.
Thanks ,
Great comment, thanks
yes, my liver function tests became abnormal due to my BP meds...went off and they returned to normal. am concentrating on healthy lifestyle.

Also I have learned after 25 years dealing with palpitations that drinking a couple ounces of ginger ale and getting a good burp will bring heart beats back
to normal. Our body is an amazing machine. I will be 85 soon and love knowing what to do without panicking every time. Gives you more control. God Bless!
OMG! Finally a doctor in every since of the meaning! Thank you so much for this never discussed information from a medical professional.
You sound like an excellent and honest doctor! Too many doctors are so anxious to get people on medications.
@Shaw, I had to look twice to see if I wrote this! I have learned how to engage my doctor more in the last year so my visits are a little better.
Thank you that’s exsactly hard to do but we have to
Blessings
@@ninettesmith2560 Same experience here.Dr. won't even look up.Too busy typing and trying to end the visit quickly.
@Haunter Sam I agree that is a part of it. That is a form of corruption and many places are removing that opportunity.
Excellent!
He tells me not to worry and promises he's not trying to kill me - lol.
same to me.

You are a real saint Dr Gupta, God bless you for taking the time to make all your awesome videos.
I love this doctor. Being honest to patients makes you half way you even better already
What a lovely guy! Only just discovered this video today....4 years later!! But still valuable information...so a massive THANK YOU❤
It’s really hard to get to see a doctor!
