The question to ask is how far ahead in points Lewis would be if he out qualified George 7 to 1?. Why isn't George much further away in points? Is that an indictment on George's race craft?
Yeh agreed - Lewis is still one of the best over a race stint. Maybe even the best. Difficult for George to beat that. But Lewis also has room for improvement…
@tyredf1pod that and how George doesn't seem to move forward with the car as it gets better (2022 and 2023 ) could be the reason why Toto is pursuing Max, Lewis seems to be able to improve with the car. While George remains consistent throughout the season, he doesn't improve with the car as Max and Lewis do as opposed to Checo and George.
The car can be within 6 and 8 comfortably. As toto mentioned merc is in no mans land far off from top 3 and well above rest of the teams. So no matter the qualifying both gonna end up closely. Plus Lewis stronger in race pace which nobody discuss it and only care about qualifying since George is ahead in that aspect
@balakumart562 I completely agree. If George was outpacing Lewis, that would be the focus. I also believe that Lewis will learn to trust the car eventually.
Lewis is not washed. When the car was good during pre quali. He beat George and was feeling good and then suddenly during the qualifying the car's power was suddenly gone. Go figure? After that he just mentally checked out now and announced that George will beat him til the end of the season.

Practice 3 third place. Lewis set the fastest time in Monaco race 2024. In all the practice sessions he had beaten George Russell. George had the superior Wing upgrade also that was NOT given to Lewis.

It's not a question that needs to be asked. The great thing about F1 is that if you are faster, you are faster and the reasons are irrelevant. As Toto says, the stopwatch doesn't lie.
The description of Hamilton's driving style was not correct. He is defiantly not a V driver. Hamilton drives a geometric line and is late on the brakes. Please see below a compression from Mark Hughes of Max and Lewis.
Verstappen tends to be quite early on the brakes, but keeping a lot of momentum and going in slightly shallow. In that way he takes a lot of entry speed in, because he’s leaving a part of the rotation - the very last bit - until very late when almost on top of the corner. As he comes off the brakes, releasing the braking force on the front tyres, they respond by suddenly having more lateral grip available and he uses this to rotate the car. The danger of this - and the reason why many of his team mates have been destroyed by him - is that it rotates too suddenly for the rear tyres to keep up with and the tail begins to slide, losing you more time with the slide than you gained with the fast entry. In order to not let that happen, you need incredibly fine-honed feel on brakes and steering to anticipate it and normalise it. That’s what he does. It’s also how Michael Schumacher used to drive and Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, Stirling Moss, Jim Clark, among others.
Hamilton’s ideal way of getting that rotation is quite different, more in the style of Senna. He brakes late and on the geometrically perfect line, so lots of turn straight away. More initial steering, later turn-in. It’s a very aggressive style and asks a lot of the rear tyres. So he has always chased his team to put more and more aero load on the rear of the car - ie move the aero balance rearwards - so that it can keep up with that technique. When he doesn’t have that, his advantage over a ‘normal’ driver will tend to reduce.

I'm no big fan of any particular driver, but George is criminally underrated IMO.

Russel is good over one lap, but makes a lot of mistakes during the races. Lewis has always been better in race trim. Look how many late race crashes and other incidences Russel has.

Lewis has got the race pace and race craft quite clearly. Just go have a look at every race so far this season for the facts. Points are not awarded based on qualifying! Fact!

George won his F2 WDC decisively. Massively out performed the Williams. Trounced the field in the W12 in 2021. Today he’s a match for Lewis, the greatest of all time. Why can’t we just admit he may one of the best, without inventing excuses for Hamilton?

Lewis is claimed to have even declined using the new wing as he didn’t want to risk starting from the pitlane.

Its easy. Lewis always had team orders a submissive teammate in Bottas. The times where he didnt he was beaten by Russell and Nico. His stats arent great. Anyone with 104 poles should have 150 wins. the records he holds are longevity only. He had adominant car for 10 years and Max broke all of his records in 2 years. He lost 43 times from pole now that is a record in itself. He's never been that great. The greats like Verstappen Senna and Schumacher were comfortable in the uncomfortable. They would never give up. Lewis wanted to quit on lap 2 last year but his team made him drive and he got 5th. He's a quitter and in no way one of the greats of the sport
