It was respectable that both of them did not budge either way and so they end up crashing instead. That is respectable. @@noomade BS... there is nothing dirty about Max's driving over this incident. Just watch Max's overtake on Sainz last year, the exact same corner, identical situation: Sainz covers the inside, Max goes for the outside and Sainz squeezes him back, which is totally normal movement in order to square off the corner. The difference was that in the previous year, Max climbs over the kerb (which is the normal line in that particular corner) in order to avoid Sainz, switches back on him and gets the move done. Lando didn't do the same and just held his line straight instead of climbing the kerb like Max did the year before. Am I saying Lando is at fault? No. Neither are.. it was just a racing incident where drivers are trying to give each other a difficult time and end up banging wheels. I'm not a Max fan (Mika and Kimi were my guys), and I'll say this: name me a Formula 1 defining world champion without the same level of aggression, and I'll find you a flying pig. The Brits point to Lewis as "clean". Really? REALLY? Kubica, Raikonnen, Massa, Vettel, Button, Rosberg, Albon, Verstappen - all victims of "uncompromising" (as you brits would call it) racecraft. Need one go on? Same goes for Schumi and his legendary dirty driving, or Senna's "you yield or we collide" moments.
I appreciate the effort of trying to be as impartial as possible. But you got it plain wrong here Shez.
Now, let's go to the race itself. Are we going to ignore the multiple divebombs that Lando executed? How did you think that Lando stuck so close to Max - driving over track limits, as i count, three times, after the black and white was given? The incident itself was clearly Max's fault (though Peter Windsor has made a pretty strong case to the contrary), but are we going to ignore the fact that Lando himself went (literally) beyond limits to overtake Max, leading up to the incident itself?
Cmon guys. We wanted hard racing. The racing was hard. Charles and Max proved in 2022 that the narrative spun on Max's driving is clearly overblown. Can we please stop ignoring facts and look at Formula 1 objectively, if you're in a "journalistic" position?

Your two Finns were absolutely the right line on this. Mika even had to tell Schumacher why he was driving like a nut job in Spa and Kimi was the epitome of clean but hard racing.

Red bull as a team dropt the ball and was lucky to come out with points in the end. I mean Max with all the track shenanigans, puncture and all that ended up still in front of Checo who wasn't able to go past a Haas😢😢
Something about Lando's retirement was nigeling though. After they both had a puncture Lando chased past Max with his damaged car to the pit. Do you think Lando damaged his car further by frying what was left of his tyres?
Max drove back at a much slower pace and could take new tyres .
Lando let his pride get the best of him in this race. He has been spoiling for a fight since he lost out on Max in Spain and the sprintrace and he was determined to win this race especially in front of Max's home crowd. Do you really think Max as a racer would allow that? Would you?
I'd like you to go back to the interview Lando had with Graig Slaiter after his Miami win.
And I quote " Max is not my friend"
    That is what Lando said.
I thought that a bit disingenuous because they are obviously friendly but hey all is fair in love and racing.
I thought Oscar's reaction in the cooldown room was hilarious.
When George criticized Max and Lando's crash he very dryly answered : " well it got you the win didn't it". Mike drop.
NICO HULKENBERG....my man did excellent ending in P6.

Max did not get better; he simply didn't have to do better, because he was in the fastest car. I think this will all come to head, not when Max gets into an incident with another driver, but when Toto realizes he will not get Max. Only then will Toto decides to lobby for actual change along with other teams like McLaren and Ferrari. This is ultimately a Redbull issue(as always) and only with the combined effort of multiple teams can Redbull's bullying(there's no other word for their behavior) be stopped, permanently.

Max did not know Lando had track 5 s infraction penalty when they crashed together. Peter Windsor view is that max did not turn into Lando but even with no turned wheel the car naturally moved into Lando path and thus should not have been a penalty. And then there was much debate whether max should have had a pit interference penalty or a moving into path penalty. All of which was adjudicated by FIA. Obviously there are contrary views - and that's why FIA is there. I think that the collision was a race incident. But the FIA says not - and they are the judge - so I accept it. Others say Lando pit infractions were not - again that's why we have FIA. Why can't others accept that the other 2 turn ins are properly judged. The irony is that RB chose a bad tire strategy (used mediums), lost 3 seconds in pits, and RB still gained in driver and constructor competitions because the 4,5,6th drivers got more points but they are so far behind it does not matters, and Lando had a hissy fit and did not go back out because he was upset. Let's just get ready for another fun race next weekend.

Some people are blaming completely Max others completely Lando and that is just not the case. I believe both drivers had their roll in that collision that you could see coming from laps ahead considering the way max was moving in the breaking it was only inevitable that Lando was going to loose his patience. Regardless of what people want to see max was pulling dangerous moves and Lando was also making clumsy divebombs. Max had every right to defend his position but there are other ways, I didn’t like that max didn’t give the position back after Lando did. This will to be another lesson for Lando which I’m sure he’ll take, people are so quick to criticize but if you think about this is the very first genuine battle they’ve had other times it’s been just Lando chasing max or Lando letting by max for the obvious reason that the car was just way better than his and he doesn’t want to ruin his race so of course he’s not going to win this first battle against a 3 time world champion that’s had years of front line experience. People are going to be quick to say “well Charles can do it” of course he can Charles is a fantastic driver but he’s also been racing max for the majority of his life. Also has been in a Ferrari which has arguably been one of the fastest cars the last few years even though not the fastest. I believe right now that there are two drivers that know exactly who max is and how he drives and those are Lewis and Charles because they’ve experienced it first hand. Lando doesn’t have that experience because one way or another the opportunity to race each other in similar machinery hadn’t come. Although I do have a feeling that if max was doing what he was doing any other young driver with no experience fighting max would have reacted like Lando. I am a fan of multiple drivers including max so take it with a grain of salt and don’t bash me people.

Part of this was showing Lando that Max will not give way. Ever. max is establishing dominance.
If RBR had simply told Max about Norris’ time penalty we could have avoided all this. His team let him down with a late stop, then a slow stop and then no penalty info.
Norris was gaining by exceeding the limits. He made several moves that themselves were outside the lines. And YES, max moved twice (just a little) under braking at the accident corner. But Max had to take evasive measures to avoid previous collisions that would have netted Lando a penalty.
To me this was an equal part accident and all the blame should not be apportioned to Max. Call it 60-40.

    • @tyredf1pod
      @tyredf1pod  День тому

Would you give the same for Silverstone 2021?
Lando got a penalty for exceeding track limits. Max got one for colliding with Lando (not leaving enough space on the outside). Lando made single committed moves, Max - as you say - moved late in the braking zone to defend, not to evade collision.
Pretty sure evading means moving away from the attacker, not towards them…

    • @f.kieranfinney457

@@tyredf1pod Max also had to avoid a collision when Lando went steaming up the inside and overshot the corner. Had he held the line, Lando would’ve caused a collision. That’s why Max wasn’t given a penalty for gaining an advantage, because he went off avoiding that.
Lewis got away with gaining a big advantage in Abu Dhabi 21 but no one remembers that as no one will remember anything about Austria 24 but this collision.
Max was at fault. But Lando wasn’t some squeaky clean school boy either.
There WAS room for Lando to avoid that collision but like Max, he didn’t want to give way. It’s a battle of wills when the equipment is equal.
Max got a penalty but to suggest only he was at fault is delusional. Lando is never going to defeat Max by being Max. Like Charles, he’ll need to find his own way to get the upper hand.

They dod have the quickest car. I think what you mean is they don’t have the rb19 type of gap to other teams like last year.
So they can’t have pits stop mistakes or strategy mistakes because McLaren or Ferrari or even sometimes Merc can capitalize off of redbulls mistakes because their cars are a lot closer this year unlike last year and part of 2022.
