Really great discussion. Sad about the lack of tolerance for opposing viewpoints. Everything has turned into a purity test now so it's impossible to have an honest debate.
"Tolerance of differing viewpoints." Now, that's a novel concept these days. Let's try it.
Did the first questioner just say that our right to free speech comes from the legal system? Government can't confer rights, although it often takes them away illegitimately
This was a nice video to see today.
People are either too busy virtue signaling, are afraid of being labeled a bad person, threatened with losing finances & some as you have found are threatened with violence if you want to speak out. These people who threaten violence against people who think differently is wrong on so many levels. It isn't getting better, it's getting worse & people aren't waking up. Thanks for these wonderful videos. It is sad this channel doesn't have more views/subscribers. Free speech & the right to disagree is paramount to growing & moving from a child to adult. Children make mistakes, making mistakes & learning from them is how we grow. I too worry about my kids. Take good care of that suit, you need to wear it at your son's graduation!! Best wishes
It's insane that it has come to this.
I'm glad I never got on Twitter. I've seen the most crazy ludicrous (in my opinion) content and trolling as a result of this medium. Is this the person's real account or not? Are they just trolling/being sarcastic?, are they just joking with a weird sense of humor? Do they really mean what they're saying? Are they just venting off steam and ranting but really don't take the position that other people are interpreting? It is SO EASY to miss the meaning between the lines from just a text message. Putting statements out in public without sufficient background for the reader is a very dangerous thing. You have people taking very literally what one is saying without enough context.
Even public officials and celebrities are saying things that they simply should not be saying. The idea of 'think before you speak' pretty much goes out the window... It just amazes me the kind of stuff people are saying on places like Twitter. In my opinion, it seems all rather juvinile.
