Being pro-palestine in college is far more popular and more accepted than being pro-israel.
I was thinking the same exact thing, but I only have experience with the University of Houston so that’s all I can’t accurately speak on. There wasn’t even what I would call a Pro-Palestinian presence at UH it was more of a VERY heavy Anti-Isreal movement in the way they went about things, they were allowed to straight up advocates violence and hate towards Isreal, and by proxy Jewish people.
Agreed. I don't know what parallel universe this dude lives in. Universities by and large are so much on the side of the "Death To Israel" crowd that they look the other way when Jews are harassed by pro-Palestine activists. I know because I experienced this shit personally.
I dont know... I had a hard time finding anyone pro-Israel on campus.
Most of them are in conservative student organizations, and if you fon't run in those circles, it's kinda hard to find them...
Gotta disagree with Glenn here. His heart is in the right place, and he recognizes the dangers of these restrictions but his thought that things are first and foremost anti-palestine as the main direction is just poorly informed.
Seems to me, suppressing and breaking up anti Israel protest and groups is primarily due to the fact that those protest usually end with physical attacks on Jews and pro-Israel folk. The worst conservatives do is hurt your feelings.. or more correctly, the left pretends that their feelings are hurt, because the resistance is good and virtuous and the conservatives are evil!
Yeah, he doesn't seem to bright. The lefties are the anti-Israel/ pro-Palestinian group so who is suppressing that on campus?
@@reeb9016 _"doesn't seem to bright"_
@@toobnoobify lol what a bunch of dingleberries
I can’t speak for any other campus, but at the University of Houston the Anti-Isreal, Palestinian protest were common and encouraged in the sense that they were allowed to get away with advocating violence and hate. (Also I say anti-Isreal instead of pro-Palestinian because their messages were always very clearly targeted at aggression, violence, and hate towards Isreal instead of trying to bring illumination to the issues they believe Palestinians face.)
“They believe”?
@@chrisstopherberrios6983 why leave such an open ended comment that could mean anything? You clearly have something on your mind or that you want to say, so why not just say it??
@@UncleFuncle69 In your comment you’re clearly insinuating that pro-Palestinians people believe that the Israel’s government is oppressing Palestinians. There’s nothing to think or believe, is a fact that Israel have committed atrocities against Palestinians.
@@chrisstopherberrios6983 one you’re putting words into my mouth, and flat out just making assumptions, and I’ll make my own assumption that it’s because you want to be angry at someone or something, because most people do these days. Let’s dive into that though for a second. The Palestinian’s believe they’re being oppressed, and having atrocities committed against them. the Israelis believe they’re quelling anti-Semitic terrorist that can’t be reasoned with. The Israelis also believe they’re being attacked, and having atrocities committed against them, and the Palestinians believe they’re doing Gods work against a foreign people to protect what they feel is their land. There is truth and lies in all of the previously stated ideas. The world isn’t black and white and neither is the conflict between the Palestinians and Israelis. Grow up and quit being so naive and biased.
Uh huh. Yet to be fair, I've listened to plenty of those groups and they are often highly anti-semitic. As in, using full on vitriolic adjectives to describe Jews in ways that makes Farrakhan proud. I still support their right to say it and protest. But let's not pretend that censoring Ayan Hirsi Ali is the same as censoring Linda Sarsour.
Help us in Ireland. Our constitutionally protected free speech is being replaced with "hate speech" legislation.
Mature adults have the ability to LISTEN to opposing views, and I believe most people dwell somewhere in the "moderate" middle, being accepting of others. The media is there to remind everyone how they hate each other, but I'm not buying it. Everyone can be "triggered," but mature people can keep the "safety" in the locked/safe position on their loaded "gun" (their mind, mouth, and emotions). I would venture to wage that most subscribers to this channel are open minded enough to enjoy this content. Cheers.
A.C G ...I agree...to a point. As a Christian, I have conservative beliefs and values, but if I shun people who don't think like me, how can I ever hope to have a conversation to persuade them to hear my point of view? I don't know what your biblical beliefs are, but the Pharisees felt they were righteous in chastising Jesus who spoke to prostitutes and other shady characters. I believe this is why conservatives and liberals cannot find middle ground. They're not willing to come to the "center of the ring" to debate the topics. Some issues are hopeless, including convincing Americans that climate change is not our most exponential threat as Obama stated. Cheers!
Yeah, but we're not in a mature world, now are we ?
Since like you'd need to grow up, 'cuz I wouldn't want you as my university dean or PR director, when I'll go in uni next semester...

" if I shun people who don't think like me, how can I ever hope to have a conversation to persuade them to hear my point of view?"
That's a good point, and even if it isn't, it's a good outlook on opposing viewpoints
Nicholas Leclerc ...Goodluck in college with that horrific spelling...take it from some who's already been there and makes $180K per year. Success requires effort, logic, emotional stability, and much more. You're going to need it if you hope to be successful, and my instinct tells me you're a bit too far left. Join the common sense crowd in the middle, and people will enjoy you more. Ranting can be repulsive.
I think it's worth noting that much of the pro Palestinian movement resembles BLM insofar as its platform extends well beyond seeking to improve the lives of Palestinian, as well as perpetrating real world physical intimidation of other students and guest speakers.
Antisemitism is so prevalent in those groups that I honestly don't trust anyone claiming to give a shit about the perceived plight of the Palestinians.
Literally still one of the most underrated channels on the tube!
And now completely defunct. Looks like I won.
When I clicked on this video, I expected it to make sense by the title.... But what just came out of that dude's mouth was crap.
Someone definitely needs to get out more lol
@Mk. 5 His arguments he left unsupported (and do sound a bit ridiculous), but he's not wrong in the sense that hate speech will eventually eat its creators. They always eat their own.
Interesting ideas. I totally see his point that if one talks negatively about Israel, specifically their government, that it somehow ends up being labeled as anti-Semitic, and that shouldn't be the case. One can have zero issues with the people of Israel, but still not agree with their government's position or actions.
Don't express any support for Israel on the University of Minnesota's Twin Cities' campus. It could be hazardous to your health, and will be hazardous to your continued attendance or employment.
Aren’t colleges are censoring anything critical of Israel? I mean most campuses won’t let Students for Justice for Palestine speak.
@@willhiggins9563 SJP openly supports terrorists, this isn't equivalent
@@aredjayc2858 Just because you’re critical of Israel does not mean you support terrorism.
As an Israeli who went to college in the US, I got hate for being Israeli like MASSIVE amounts of hate. There literally wasn't a pro-Israel group on campus.
Also gotta love how he sweeps the fact that anti-Israel professors can literally openly support terrorists and even invite them to discussions, see Leila Khaled
SJP has openly supported terrorists, the claim that they're opposed because they're anti-Israel is nonsensical
What logic would you call this rant?
Definitely, while I agree with this videos sentiment this is not a argument of any kind just a rant at censorship.
While I half agree... Speech for Palestine and against Israel is really wide spread and not just in campus. The criticism I hear sometimes is valid... Most times it crosses into anti-semitic territory. And even then if that exists - and it does - it is the speakers who end up looking bad. In fact pro-Israel speech is seen as hate speech in a lot of campuses right now. So... Not sure where this guy is coming from...
yeah I was very confused. Campuses are very left wing. I don't know where he got the idea that a left wing position, is some how censored on left wing dominated colleges.
He confused me as well. We just need to have free speech: no laws, no rules & no exceptions. Best wishes
Glenn Greenwald doesn't even know where he's coming from. He only cares about his speech nobody elses.
@@jamesbizs We... Definitely could use more variety of thought. I study at an art school that leans towards more technical things. It is really good and most of the faculty - at least in my field of game design - teach you what you need. Software, programming, 3D modeling, texturing... The things we need lol. There are professors that are obviously left wing, but even they do not shy from debate in the classroom or dissenting opinions and that is... Actually great. But... I feel my school is not in the majority. There is no time for protesting there but in Yale and other Ivy Leagues protests are daily bread... Academia desperately needs other view points, otherwise even schools like mine will disappear. And to think that Yale is the college where a lot of our politicians come from... It's scary. One reason why I want to teach. Education is one of the pillars of our civilization and it should not be in the hands of one group of people.
This was weird...
A bird needs both the left wing and the right-wing to fly straight. Otherwise it's just going around in circles. 😂
I forget which side is left and right again...
Good thought put forth. No thought should be suppressed or censored...once that happens you no longer have freedom of thought or speech.
Imagine being sent home for wearing a patriotic T-shirt or hat. Not anything hateful, but maybe just support for the president.
I really don't know why so many people try to connect US right and left wing with European right and left wing. They are different as the political parties are different. Universally, US right and left wing are for free speech. It's this group who wants US left wing to be like Europe that advocates against free speech. They are a loud minority among left wing politics in the US. I think this is a non-issue as a strong majority of Americans are opposed to speech laws and it's political suicide to propose hate speech laws.
Kevin Smith AHAHAHA AHAHAHAHA
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Good one.
Now, back in reality...
This is crazy...
Anyone ever think that the pharse think tank is really restrictive to free thought? Thinking in a tank would not allow thoughts or ideas from outside your group to be brought into the discussion. We all pick the fish we put into our tank to give us the aesthetic or outcome we want. Would not the same apply to a think tank, especially a political think tank?
"the left" and "the right" is really annoying... Those discussions where the left is always evil and the right is always right are dumb and biased, reasonable is something inbetween
How about not prohibiting things nobody can define in any applicable way.
and you pointed out the main issue, no one can define what is and what isnt hate speech, and im happy about that cause I want absolutely no restrictions on freedom pf speech (call to actions are different)
This was a little confusing, not sure where he was going with this. Happy 4th to WTI & everyone!! Best wishes
This is a poor argument to be honest
And your comment isn't an argument.
@@WeTheInternetTV Lol I didn't say mine's an argument. I'm just pointing out the fact of the situation.
You didn't offer any evidence to support "the fact of the situation."
@@WeTheInternetTV Well, to start off, there were no numbers or specific examples supporting the idea of Palestine censorship harmfully affecting professors or students. Then theres also the fact that you never addressed why the left should oppose hate speech laws in the first place. with the man only saying that its because censorship is bad.
@@WeTheInternetTV This video did also not "offer any evidence to support 'the fact of the situation'". So you can hardly blame people for their comments.
I as a leftist agree
lmao, no.
looks like someone over here hates free speech
Criticizing Israel isn't criticizing the Jewish people, there are plenty of jews who oppose the apartheid regime.
It's only hate speech if you're trying to twist it to make leftists let you say the n word again
Not worth the 2:30
That is absolutely the opposite of my experience on campus. They university administration gives pro Palestinian groups unbelievable leeway when criticizing Israel and zero repercussions when intimidating those who support Israel. He is either confused or delusional. The facts on the ground do not support his statements.
Looking over his body of work, he clearly has a chip on his shoulder regarding Israel.
that might be your university
LOL "my anecdotal experience represents facts on the ground" while countless studied publications say otherwise are what exactly? Don't be full of yourself.
I'm sure the countless Jewish alumnae and their massive endowment contributions are somehow complicit in this virulent pro-Palestinian environment that you seem to believe is true across campuses everywhere, eh?
thats anecdotal evidence, your experience doesnt mean the whole world is like that, thats like saying well the cashier was super nice to me therefor every cashier is nice, thats not how it works
Uh, No. The censorship is aimed at judeo-Christian values, which is anyone or anything that holds or represents those beliefs, e.g. the Right.
Don’t a lot of campuses have churches?
Christian values yes. However useful idiots are trained to worship Jewish supremacy and put Judeo first. When they are actually behind the persecution of Christ from the beginning.
January 2021. Who's here after they decided that Republicans are to be banned, starting with the POTUS Donald Trump?
Left-wing ideas can never be hateful because if an idea is hateful it is by definition right-wing.
Suppressing pro-Palestinian students’ speech?! What campuses has Glenn Greenwood been going to lately?!!? 😏
Fordham University?
We the Internet TV I sit corrected! 🙂
@@WeTheInternetTV
Do you oppose the thousands of colleges who actively suppress the voices of pro-Israel people (or just Jews in general)? Or do you only care about the one or two colleges who don't put up with the antisemitic bullshit that permeates the vast majority of "pro-Palestine" groups?
I really like this channel..... but Glenn is a gatekeeper....... he’s totally controlled opposition
Blessed are the big noses ...
Makes sense if you only allowed one form of speech people will hate that speech.
