      Fr this (the message the show is sending I mean) doesn’t help the issue at all, I got blamed for Pearl Harbor as a third grader in class because my mom is a Japanese immigrant, I got bullied, and that messed me up for literal years. The fact that blaming literal children for things they had nothing to do with because of their race/ethnicity is being encouraged in this show is just wrong imo :(

      Right? That definition is so iffy too. Like if you’re a manager then you have power over employees. To say you are black and can’t be racist may mean that you can mistreat your employees based off race . That’s awful

      “Power” is such a stupid term to throw in there. What *is* power? Money? Having a lot of supporters with the same mindset as you? Influence? A gun?
      A better word to use would’ve been “hate”, because rac*sts tend to.. yknow, hate a specific group of people for weird reasons.

      Racism literally means judging someone based on the color of their skin or their heritage and culture. Never does it say that it’s white people hating others. This way of thinking literally only hurts people and it is very toxic.

    • @lukki1377
      @lukki1377 2 дні тому

      it's more so that when black people are "racist" (which really can't happen if you understand black american history deeply) it literally doesn't affect anyone, at least to the degree compared to when white people are. There's just a lot of things that go into it than it seems so I get why it doesn't make sense to most people. Typically racism from White people are far more oppressive than other forms of racism from other races, in America at least , history shows that no matter how much you try to ignore it. I won't assume your race but if you are indeed white I believe you should take a step back and really think about this.

On one hand, you would think a group that knows what it feels like to be discriminated against, left out, or made fun of and bullied for their race or cultural distinctions would never want anyone else to hurt that way or experience what they had been through…but I sadly think the “hurt people hurt people” fact applies here a lot too for those so badly wanting to change the definition.
      Using the excuse of “well I had it a lot worse so who cares how you feel you’ll never fully know pain unless you went through what I did” is also the exact same excuse a partner in an abusive relationship or an abused child would hear as an excuse from their abusive partner or parent who had once been abused themselves. They use their trauma and abuse they experienced in the past to justify treating others badly. It’s ultimately just an deflective excuse to block out any criticism or hold their harmful actions against another accountable. An excuse to avoid growing as a person and growing beyond your own pain to be be the better person than the people who hurt you.

The Transatlantic slave trade was *one of* the biggest-scale slave trades in human history - and that absolutely deserves recognition - but we don't need to ignore the other ones or make it a simple pantomime version of a racial issue (black sovereign kingdoms directly profited from selling POWs 😬) to recognise how insanely cruel it was. Man, I really feel that the whole "racism" bit in this episode is out of the blue really.
    If I'm not mistaken, this is the FIRST episode where we see the triplets again in this reboot/revival. Until this episode, the only idea of the "Chang Triplets" that we have its just them in the og series where they where a bunch of stereotypical academically smart kids that did really good in school and sport. They ARE smart, we know that much.
    Then enter this episode and it seems the the argument that Penny used is supposed to be "inviting any of the chang triplets to the group cus they are Asian, so they are smart" wtf??? And nobody really corrects said statement? At most Maya tries correct it as Penny just being a jerk, not racist, which still doesn't erase the ridiculousness of the argument.
    Obviously, everything points out at the fact that the Triplets in this new series aren't supposed to he these smart-ass kids they were in the og series. Billy is more laid-back, and Debbie seems to not want to be seen as "a smart kid" anymore.
    But honestly it still baffles me that this scene tries to paint it as if Penny just wanted them on the team cus they were asian, and not because they LITERALLY were the smartest kids in the og series that we knew.

    We did pay reoperations. Do you know how many young men died in the civil war? 620,000. 620,000 thousand men in 4 years. for context, a war that was happening in New Zealand at roughly the same time that also lasted 4 years , the New Zealand War, killed 2600. The Boshin war in Japan which lasted a year killed 8200, even the Six Years War only killed 20,000 and that was considered incredibly deadly. It's not nearly as much as the slaves who died over the 100 years before hand, but to say we haven't paid is disingenuous at best.

    In all honesty, I believe that kids' shows shouldn't try to indoctrinate young viewers into a certain worldview...full stop!!!! Be it left, right or another socio-political ideology.
    However, one thing to keep in mind is that the Tuttle Twins is technically an independent cartoon and is only available on smaller streaming services, usually already with a conservative slant, whereas The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is a Disney Channel show...about as mainstream as it gets!
