That's the idea of their genre I'm guessing.
I always thought that the Minotaur was such an underrated aspect of Greek Mythology, and that none of the references to it ever did it justice. The perspective of it being the incarnation of vengeance, of such bitter hatred of its existence due to the sins of another, is such a cool aspect and so well done with this song. Rather than it being a mere monster that roams a maze for no apparent reason, it's instead portrayed as it was in Ancient Greece. A cursed existence born of a mortal man's defiance and greed towards the Gods; Minos demanded of Poseidon blessing and wealth, in return he demanded a sacred white bull to be slaughtered as sacrifice to the God of the Sea. Minos refused, so Poseidon cursed the bull to become feral and violent and cursed Minos's wife to fall in love and lay with the maddened bull. Thus was Asterion born, the result of a God's rage and the seed of madness and cursed/abominable love. Forced to live in a labyrinth created to entrap and torment it, and made to feast on the sons and daughters of other Kings that Minos made as sacrifices so that he would not fall victim to the Minotaur's retribution. Most Greek Myths are pretty fucked up in their own ways but the tale of Minos and Asterion is an especially horrific one when you really get into it. This song nails it so perfectly.
Minos: "come on asterion it's past your bedtime"
Asterion: "shut up you aren't my real dad"

The chorus is amazing, makes me getting back to the song all the time. And I like the concept of Minotaur depicted sympathetically, as a cast away seeking the revenge he'll never have.

I have a lot of respect for this band. Not only can they dish out amazing metal but the final (and also title) track on this album, Labyrinth, sounds hauntingly beautiful. Really wasn't expecting it the first time I listened to it.
When the intro starts I really understand why I like this band. It's magnificent!
2:09 "Blood from the womb of the queen pouring like a rainfall" is not only my favorite lyric from the song but the way vocal rhythm and guitar rhythm dance around each other is absolutely sublime.
The way these guitars are written overall but especially in the verse sections is a guitarist's wet dream, but even in this standard that part specifically is exceptionally badass.
For any non-guitarists out there, try to listen to what the guitars are doing!
I swear it's so much more complex than it sounds like at first...there's so much going on there I can't even describe it myself.

Like this band. First time hearing them. Feel like the mix is kinda muddy. Maybe because there's too much being crammed in there with all that speed. I noticed the same thing for septicflesh. Good songs but too noisy to hear everything clearly. Some things are looking less clear than other parts

It sounded that way to me when I first heard them. Then I got some good headphones, and listened to more of their stuff. It's fast but you eventually begin to appreciate every little detail and it just becomes even more amazing.
