Finally a band that writes their own music and makes their own videos. True artists but instead everyone can't show any appreciation for real talent and effort into their art. "Oh it's cheesy" and "it's not a real labyrinth". They made it themselves where else do you see this in music today? Even in metal?
European Metal thrives on that and always has...in the US scene the most successful metal bands were created and forged by the music industry in very similar way as in pop music (though musical skills are still way more important). That almost never happens in Europe, every band is self-made because the competition doesn't flinch towards a new band that has nothing special to offer, hence US metal sounds very same-ish because the music is relatively weak, overproduced and commercialised. And still, I couldn't name a single metal band that doesn't at least write their own songs, not one comes to mind...that's a pop-music disease and unless they make actual pop-metal by now I can't fathom a band of people with actual talent selling themselfes to a record label without their own songs. That's like willingly entering an abusive relationship, castrating yourself in front of them and then offer to get fucked for *n* years...
fleshgod apocalypse makes the prettiest and most beautiful metal
This is by far the best metal band of the decade, and Labyrinth is the best album I ever heard in my 20 years of metal head...
They are amazing hey. Got to see them in Sydney a couple of months ago with Septic Flesh. Amazing concert
They're great but I certainly wouldn't call them the best metal band of the decade. In the spectrum of metal-listeners, I'd say maybe 30% of us even know about this band let alone listen to them - I mean, this video barely has more than 300k views. If you said Mastodon then I'd be more inclined to agree with you - but please know that I completely understand the two are completely different sub-genres so there's no need to rip your tampon out in a fit of rage for comparing the two. It's just quite a stretch to say that FGA is the best metal band of the decade.

I love how this band participates in the videos and their expressions, At 1:39 the way the one guy gestures to the left and the dude goes the opposite way. And how the bald dude turns around and gives him that look.
And one other detail I absolutely love in "The violation" is later in the song there is a firm pause and when the drummer smacks the snare drum black ink explodes all over it somehow.
It's so amazing and they are just so talented in so many different ways.

I missed my chance back in 2020 when the shutdown happened the week of the show :( I hope they come back to the US soon on a non-festival tour.
Also, I had a similar reaction to seeing Children of Bodom live. Eluveitie was the band right before them and my buddy and I were incredibly surprised and impressed and bought their albums that night! Live shows are such a critical part of metal. \m/

4:14 if you listen closely in this part the rythm guitar drastically outshines the lead guitar in terms of a sick songwriting...absolutely love the process of figuring out what is actually played and playing it myself. And on Labyrinth I found that many times the solos are the easiest parts to play in the song. Especially Pathfinder, Minotaur and Elegy.

For me one of the best songs from them. Every aspect of it. The orchestral parts, especialy from 2:22 and from 2:59 together with vocals are fantastic. And drums my god. Francesco did awesome work with them. Just look at part from 2:22, cymbals, hi hat fills and doublebass pattern there. And after that those looooooong 3notes bursts. I can't imagine other part of drums during that guitar solo.

Why haven't I heard this song. Wow. I listen to all types of music but if you were to ask me which metal band puts a smile on my face, gets me pumped up, gives me goosebumps and put a little wetness to the eyes after seeing and hearing pure amazement, I would say these guys. Good golly. It's not only amazing music but it is an ear-boner causing experience.
