God gave Devin Townsend musical talent and said, "Do whatever you want with it."
No that’s where your wrong! ADHD and schizophrenia have devin his talent
And devin said I was going to do that anyway
my four year old daughter : "daddy, put the video where the brains that look like butts sing Ba Ba Ba"
+Oswaldo Rodriguez showing your 4 year old daughter Devin Townsend videos, Good Parenting :)
+Oswaldo Rodriguez This comment made me smile.
jeepheep69 she always says things like that ! Like when we were listening to Symphony X Kiss of Fire and she said "why does Russell make songs that are that angry ?"
+Oswaldo Rodriguez now this is so cute :3 :D
+Oswaldo Rodriguez What a prash bab.
I wont accept an alien invasion unless they present themselves with this level of overbearing menacing metal.
Leader of The Mighty Empire That Worships Smooth Jazz reads your comment with a sad look on his face. He then turns, shoves his hands into his pockets with mild disgust and trudges away. "Awwwww....shucks.." falls from his three tongued mouth as he makes his way back to the control room to call off the invasion, pausing briefly to kick a tribble.
I wonder if Irkens are capable of such metal?
Dude I'd be totally down if a metal loving alien race tried destroying us! I'd join em in a breakdownbeat! This place needs a good Devin townsend apocalypse
@bhw100000000 THATS FREAKIN HILARIOUS!!! XD XD XD I didnt take probing into account but I suppose I'll let it slide if it's with an 8 string guitar
@bhw100000000 go hard or go home. And in the case of metal loving alien race taking over the world... well theres no goin home so that leaves only one thing left to do! Join the March of the poozers!
3:53 The diameter of those floating alien heads are approximately 876.8 Kilometers or 544.8 miles.
The weird thumbnail and floating alien heads did not prepare me for a legitimately awesome song.
Sam Vimes same here. Lol.
What does this song mean? Reading the lyrics and watching the video, i dont understand whats happening.
@@RippedMoFuCk It's a Rock Opera, so the album it's only a Story with no real meaning
Welcome to Devin Townsend.
If you see Devin Townsend’s name on it, expect nothing but awesome
Discovered Devin Townsend couple days ago! This guy is a pure gold!!!
Everyone's reaction upon first discovery
You have discovered a true treasure
same this is gold
Next step: see them live on stage... unforgettable
My dad has been playing devin since I was a baby and somehow his songs still haven’t gotten old
Haha! 0:50 Just realized the screen on the ship says ''HUMANS, HAND OVER YOUR COFFEE!!''
Tobias TK this is a straight mood.
NEVER MY COFFEE!!!, I am ready to fight.
Reference to ziltoid
I roast my own coffee so i’ll be happy to give up some of it
Ziltoid requires our finest coffee.
The “Hey-ho” chorus has absolutely no right to be as catchy as it is. Absolute masterpiece!
This song deserves to be WAY more famous than it is.
+Peter Griffin This song deserve a dead Lois
This shit SHOULD have been recognised by us here Canada. Seriously ...Beiber? ]
Devin is Canada's real treasure. You don't even have to be Canadian to know that.
You did give us Neil Young though, so that kinda evens it out.
This could be said about Devin Townsend’s entire discography.
Without Devin Townsend I would never be able to fully appreciate the depths of my insanity.
Try Igorrr
It's like a soundtrack for it, really.
i really think i'll never get bored of this song
and if you change he playing speed (to x1,25 or something near) you will have even more fun ;)
Bored yet?
Really fucking heavy, very ambient and overall, unique. Never heard something like this before.
Devin Townsend will change your life. The album Deconstruction blew me away when I first heard it.
fuckin great
Listen to Terria and be amazed...
Tobias TK You like heavy? Give his other project a listen. Strapping Young Lad. Pure bloody magnificence.
Destruct O'Rella Haven't heard much SYL,but what I have was really,really good
if I had $1million dollars, I would use it to fund Devin's 3rd Ziltoid album but also have it be a movie!
Wretneck A Ziltoid movie would be epic.
Wretneck Right there with you!
Wretneck oh my god a Ziltoid movie...... dude do you have any idea how quickly he would reach his pledge goal if he made a pledge campaign for a Ziltoid film?!!!
Wretneck might need more than that to fund his creativity for a movie haha
+Jeffrey Kolodziej I was gonna say the same thing. Although I don't drink or do drugs anymore (except smoke some weed), that would be one hell of a movie to watch while on some good shrooms/acid hahaha.
Initial reaction: The hell is this?
Afterwards: Need MOAR.
My 3 and 5 year old daughters loves to watch the 'Buttfish song' and stomp around in the living room like the mechabots. :D
The buttfish song xD
i'd call them Butt slugs myself, but each to their own
XD raising them right!
You’re raising your kids right.
Aussie Bastard *Buttockulons.
Why... why is that so fucking epic?
+Emile Pesik NAILED IT!!!!
Why....Why is it necessary to use that vulgar language?
Oh. Okay.
damn strait!
Most epic thing I've ever heard live as well. :D
So I've always heard of Devin Townsend and the Ziltoid albums, but I never checked him out. I saw DTP live a few days ago and I had to immediately rectify that mistake,I can't believe I didn't listen to his material earlier.
Devin is the Tim Burton of metal
Good simile.
That sounds like an accurate description.
I'd love to hear what would come of a Devin Townsend and Danny Elfman collaboration.
*When Tim Burton was still good that is \m/
Danny Elfman is 100% responsible for the sound of music you associate with tim burton. Tim Burton isn't a musician.
an absolute masterpiece of metal music.
The live version of this song at Royal Albert Hall is possibly my favorite rock march anthem. Rock on, Devin!
This is such a f***ing awesome song! I’ve been trying to catch up on a lot of bands I missed. I’ve always been a huge SYL fan and devin just took it to a whole ‘nother level y’all! This man is a f***ing genius! I love all his songs and everyone of them hits me in the feels! Devin… if you are reading this please know that I have played bass guitar for 17 years and haven’t had time to pick it up for a few years now but when I found your project …. I can’t help myself. I am compelled to try to create as amazing of a sound as you have! It makes me think…. OH MY F**KING GOD!!!!!!!
No one:
The season finale of 2020:
Don't give 2020 any ideas!
I wouldn’t even be that mad if this is the way we go out
Stop giving God ideas!
@@kirmy1 As long as Heavy Devvy is singing us out, I'm down
And I for one welcome our new alien overlords!
It's like a 80's comedy theme covered by metal heads. I love it!
so imaginative! once upon a time Devin was very happy to be in a Steve Vai project... Now Vai is ecstatic for ever working with a genius!
My dad showed me Devin when I was like 2 years old and he gave me Addicted (The album) and Devin is and very good singer keep up the Work 👍👍
I hope I'm not the only one who absolutely loved both sides of Z2. It's an amazing work from Devy, and one of my top picks of the year.
I thought I was the only one too. :3 Sky Blue felt like a brilliant amalgam of, dare I say, his entire discography in a way with some new twists. Not to mention considering the album's theme is centered around loss, it definitely hits home numerous times. For me at least. As for Dark Matters, HOLY SHITBALLS. Over-the-top hilarious, musically epic, and all around a barrel full of monkeys. ^^
MoRtIfIeDPeNgUiN92 I didn't realize Sky Blue's theme was loss. Huh.
You are far from the only one!
I loved the whole damn thing. Just about everything Devy's done in the last 20 years has been great.
I hate Sky Blue. It's the worst thing Devin has ever written hands down. It's hard for me to believe that the same guy who wrote Terria and Ocean Machine also wrote Sky Blue. Z2 was pretty bland as well. These two albums made me stop looking forward to his releases.
Man just saw live for the first time last night. This song just grooved so hard. I recommend everyone try to catch DTP live whenever they can!
if they wanted coffee, they could have asked. I'd have put on a pot.
+Sans if ziltoid liked spaghetti, id be sure that you and Papyrus would have that covered too :)
+Gabriel ribeiro We've got plenty of leftovers. Plenty.
+Sans where is brother Papyrus ?
I wouldn't be so sure, they always forget to check on the microwave
and it fills me with determination
I never really listen to Devin Townsend much before but a friend gave me a free ticket to see him in Dublin tonight and this was one of my favourite songs 😍
I wasn’t prepared for how awesome this is! 😲
Best lyrics video for a song ever!!! Creative, with hidden messages and a lot of effort. Love it
This is proof that Ziltoid loves us and wants us to be happy, just as long as we surrender our finest coffee beans.
Devin Townsend can be a very serious musician and also seem as he doesn't give a f*ck about his music, all at the same time.
How can I love a man I've never even met? Ah Devin, you just get me.
THIS SONG IS SOO GOOD IM DYING FOR GOD SAKE WHY HAVEN'T I HEARD OF THIS SONG BEFORE GREAT ARTIST I CAN'T STOP SCREAMING IN MY HEAD.
santiago gonzalez I just heard this song a few days ago and it’s about listen 103 right now since I found it. So apparently Devin Townsend has like 2 albums and a comic around this concept. All tells a story
@@aarons720 Devin is just underrated, I find out about him in a TOOL video
santiago gonzalez what video is that. Tool is one of my favorite bands but don’t remember devin in anything
@@aarons720 I really don't remember, but the main comment was praising the voice of Maynard and someone did a comment about Devin having a similar style of voice
I was just thinking this sounds a cross between Danny Elfman and Samael, and as it turns out, this song was infact inspired by Samael's track "On Earth".
I... want more of this.
i love samael passage ":)
Samael period \
n//
But Devy as well.
At least they share the industrial genre lol
I definitely get samael vibes there.
Samael fan here good call no wonder I like this song
The genius, the Zappa of the modern days. So talented.
You have know idea how much sleep i lost trying to find this song😅 i just could not get the tune out of my head even though i have not heard this song in years.
This is so good holy shit
All Devin Townsend stuff is basically just fluff after Ocean Machine, Terraria... And his metal band "Strapping Young Lad" has some of the best material too.
He became totally pop-obsessed at some point, it's kind of sad, cringey and cheesy, no matter how catchy it is sometimes. Regardless, his core material was a while ago.
@@literally9056
God forbid somebody grows as a person and gets mentally healthier and starts writing music differently
I personally think Z2 is one of Devin's best. It's too bad so many get hung up on how technical individual elements are or aren't! It's all about the whole, baby.
The choir stabs in this are just epic, and so is the climax! I really hope he plays this on the tour!!! :)
I didn't like Z2 very much.
lasoogneypubes ok
Actually It's Z^2
is it just me or is this song prophetic?!
I hope so
I haven't read all the comments but in case no one has said it. "It took a lot of balls to make this video!"
It took balls? By that, do you mean, reveling so much in such a short time, or space ?
Balls? I thought they were supposed to resemble butts. Especially with all the farting in the logo. :P
@@WolfhoundMercenary To me, they're looking more like soggy balls though...
Fat nutz
How the hell I come here 5 years later. UA-cam you did it again
this guy is so so so under rated
1:08 - Devin clearly sings "captor" not "captive".
that just means they have slaves rather than masters.
except it's captive as in captive warrior, not captor warrior.
I HEARD CAPTURED WARRIOR, THE D COMES IN RIGHT BEFORE HE SAYS WARRIOR SO IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE CAPTORED
He definitely said "captor" which also rhymes with the previous line
@TurnTimeTable I think the "slaves over masters" thing is meant to mean that these extraterrestial invaders are actually at the lowest rung of their society, yet above the masters of the conquered.
Probably the most catchy chorus ever.
Aww man, those vocal harmonies in the chorus are intense!
wow better than the last album.
No, no it's not.
cmbezln Yes, yes it is. NOW WHO WINS?!
Are you comparing Z2 with Casualties? ...
thats just Devin Townsend not DT Project. so no.
Graham Gan Casualties of Cool is both the artist and the album. but I gotcha, you meant Epicloud or maybe Sky Blue. Makes more sense haha
I swear...if this song is not anywhere in the new Independence Day movie then there is either something wrong with the movie industry or the music industry.
My dad just showed me this and it was the most confusing thing I’ve ever seen in my life but the song is really good
If I ever become a wrestler this will be my entrance theme continuously
This entire two part album is about aliens who invade earth to steal all of the coffee. I don't know if I should be impressed or just laugh my fucking ass off. :P
both
This is a masterpiece. Thank you Devin Townsend for being awesome year after year.
Saw this live in Atlanta last night. Fantastic.
Discovered this song a few weeks ago, and I'm already a Devin's fan, loving it!
Cracked up at the 2001 Space Odyssey Poozer, love the work!
Ah his backing video during the live show! I thought I recognized this, then I saw the marching mechs and made the connection! Everyone at the show laughed when they saw that clip (at the Palladium).
Was a great show!
Devin Townsend is what Danny Elfman had nightmares about as a kid
Best song of the album!
Mi mi mimi mimi mimimi! *toot*

Seeing this song live blew me away!
I like to convince myself into believing this song and all of the Poozer/Ziltoid albums are prophetic
This song freaking rocks!!!
Watching, Waiting, You are alone!!
So looking forward to the show at Royal Albert Hall. It will be awesome!
This song make me cry in happiness, is such a perfect piece of art!
This will be a song in my heart forever!😍😘😉
"... will of your 'captor'?"
Am I wrong?
+DarthMohammed yes you are, you should go check videos from live shows
+DarthMohammed In the live shows he says captive but not only does captor make more sense, it also fits the rhyme scheme of the verses (Rapture-Captor) and sounds like what is said in the recording. Your guess is as good as mine though
+Area of Effect I'm sure he does that to mess with us :P
+DarthMohammed later the lyrics say "we are the ones who have slaves over masters", so...
It's captive, ziltoid was captured in Z2.
one of the greatest things in the universe
That verse riff is skull-crushing.
This guy is a badass.
Maybe it's just me, but the "hey ho everyone is ready to arrive" part kind of reminds me of System of a Down.
Kinda, yeah, maybe because of how vivid it sounds, like it's at a slightly higher pace and with the choir singing quickly and on a similar pitch like the SOAD does. Dunno why I felt the need to describe all this. Bottom line is, I think I know what you mean :p
Yes
you are fantastic the most innovative of the new century
I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of this band sooner
I want Dev to direct a musical
Feel like I'll never be able to afford a sound system worthy of this song....
Just need headphones. Devy's music IS the sound system
thx whoever directed this video, I will now have nightmares.
So I recently finished listening to Transcendence for the first time which was my first time listening to DTP and I really enjoyed it. But it wasn't the greatest thing I've heard. I just checked out this song for the first time earlier today and now I'm convinced that I need to explore this band so much more 😍😍.
Well every album from Devin Townsend has its own theme, check all his projects, starting from Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend, Devin Townsend Band to Devin Townsend Project :) ( You'll love Ocean Machine ).
From all the Ziltoid multimedia we've got so far, I REALLY (REALLY) hope we get a Ziltoid movie in the (not to distance) future!
(And I know Dev considered the idea back in 2012)
One of the best from Devin :) It's fucking great!
Saw him in Oslo two days ago. This song was the highlight of the concert.
Those aliens look like Cabbage Patch Babies if they were farted out by the aliens from Mars Attack😂
The perfect music video doesn't exi-
The theme song for students as they return to University.
Moooooooooooooooom!!! I'm on this part of youtube again!!!
Devins music makes me cry and then also die
I don't get the title or the video, but damn this song is good.
No "mi-mi-mi-mi-mi......."fart" at the end? I'm so disappointed!!
I know such a cool song but weird vid and end
Welcome back Devy!!
I wasn't expecting this. I love his voice so much. Mesmerizing !
Those aliens are clearly inspired from pug's faces. XD
AND A NUT SACK
Eye and ear candy. LOVE THIS!!
Reminds me of Zim, but full-on 3d.
AND WHAT'S WILD IS THAT THE MECHS ARE KIND OF HOW I PICTURED THEM WHEN I WAS LISTENING TO THE ALBUM BEFORE WATCHING THIS VIDEO!
I love it that on the world at night with lights you can see Halifax, Sydney and St John's lit up. Now that's CanCon!
You never fail to impress Devin. Original and pushing the envelope every time. Thank you.
I like to think these Poozers are a race Kilowog beat so spectacularly that he began using their race's name as his famous insult.
Man, I'm sure it's "captor" not "captive". It even rhymes better.
I agree with you
It's definitely captor
DaveDexterMusic That's what I heard as well.
I also hear captor....makes more sense and sounds better
Pretty sure it's a typo
I love so much the drum track on this one
5 years later and I get a recommendation for this, it sounds pretty cool so far
