    Thank you, Kristie. I was suffering from this "golf tennis mouse phone arm/elbow" since two weeks now, in my case caused by weight training, gardening and probably too much social media. Still in the office and without a proper tool I've followed your recommendations just by using the other hand and ... what a relieve, the pain almost gone!

      Uli Hof you’re welcome! I know how tough it is to have an injury and how much that can affect your life. My goal is to be able to get people back to doing what they want to do so I am so happy to hear that my information has been helpful for you :-)

    Thank you Kristie for this helpful video , I have looked if it is golfers elbow i have and from everything I have read and videos I have found on golfers elbow it sounds like that's what i have got.
    I am currently doing kickboxing (which can be pretty intense exercises) aswell as working out at my local gym also where I might have overdone it and pulled something. I also might have even strained it or something when at work (when lifting boxes) , i don't know for certain how or where i have done it , but by the sounds of it , its golfers elbow.
    I would say that the last couple of few weeks or so now it feels like a burning and sometimes pulling together (Possibly ligaments / tendents pulling on the elbow bone , i don't know) , but it's mainly a burning sensation up and down the forearm and on the elbow bone though. It comes and goes from time to time.
    I will continue the exercise you mentioned and when it recovers I will continue to strengthen my forearm, wrist e.t.c. with your dumbell exercise(s) and other exercises.

    Dr.Ennis I appreciate your information so much.. I especially like your simple but very useful tips. I’m now using the tennis ball on a shoulder that I had torn the labrum on seems to be helping anymore ideas on that spot would be appreciated.Thanks again.

      You may even want to try the rotator cuff tear exercises. There’s some overlap. Just be careful that nothing causes a worsening of symptoms. Here’s the link:

    No, the golfers elbow started during the tail end of rehab for the shoulder and was definitely not induced by throwing or swinging. Just exacerbated by it. Because it wasn't caused by those activities, I'm wondering if resuming them now will make this condition return full force. I'm currently about 90 percent healed. Can you have a pronator strain with a healthy UCL? I know one is a muscle and one a ligament, but are they that intertwined? Wearing a compression sleeve seems to help for whatever reason. So does 600 mil of ibuprofen lol

    I've had Golfer's Elbow for years. (I call it Dog Trainer's Elbow). Just the forearm parts of this technique really help! RE the back of the shoulder - there's a LOT of real estate back there - can you be a little more specific on where to place the ball? Outside the scapula, toward the upper or lower part of the shoulder?? Thanks so much for the video!!!!! Deb

    • @drkristieennis
      @drkristieennis  3 роки тому

      You’re welcome! It honestly varies on where to place the ball. There are several muscles that surround the scapula that can be affected. Slowly roll the ball around until you feel a tender tight spot and focus on that:)

    Hi Dr Ennis. New subscriber and avid weightlifter here. Question, please. I’ve been icing the area after my workouts, but is it worth it to also apply heat? Thank you!

    • @drkristieennis

      Hi! Does ice help after? I usually have people heat during the day to help loosen and ice if they have done an aggravating activity.

    Thanks! I developed that elbow pain after using a hand sander as a home owner on over 900 square feet of decking and rails this past summer-autumn 2020. I sanded the deck twice with a belt sander & palm sander, working almost every day for weeks weather permitting. Only now is the pain going away (March 2021). Does your recommended technique(s) prevent golfer's elbow?

    • @drkristieennis

      It is something I have my patients do even after they feel better. Strengthening up the postural muscles also helps.

      Some, but I have been doing another program for a while (since Feb) now, but I do sometimes do your little tennis ball trick against the wall, not sure if it helps anything but it at least feels good as I do it, but like you I drop it a lot and it bounces away!

    Is a pronator teres strain technically considered golfers elbow? That's what I have, and as a competitive pitcher, the only time it flares up is the days after pitching. Can I get rid of this for good or am I going to be battling this as long as I pitch?

    • @drkristieennis
      @drkristieennis  5 років тому

      Klay Coyle the pronator teres can certainly be involved with golfer’s elbow. You can do the same technique on this muscle. Pronate and supinate instead of wrist flexion and extension. Make sure the shoulder and shoulder blade are functioning the way they should. I’m guessing you have had your pitching technique looked at to make sure this isn’t the issue?

    • @drkristieennis
      @drkristieennis  6 років тому +1

      Vijaydhan Patil did you try the techniques in the video? Just make sure to focus on the muscles when doing the fascia and trigger point release. You don’t want to irritate the bursa so gentle pressure is a good way to start.

    I've had a pronator strain ever since rehabbing a surgically repaired torn labrum. Shoulder is perfect now, but I pushed a little too heavy on the weight and ended up using my elbow during rehab I surmise. Can't shake the golfers elbow/ pronator strain though. Not sure if this is just coincidence or not. The condition is worse however than any pain in the shoulder! Is this a precursor to UCL damage? Thanks Kristi

    • @drkristieennis
      @drkristieennis  5 років тому

      mike O'Neil I’m sorry that your elbow is bothering you so much!! Is the shoulder back to normal after rehab? Have you had any one work on the elbow yet? I would want to make sure all shoulder, spine, and elbow mechanics are functioning as they should be. As far as the ucl goes, you certainly can aggravate that if the muscles aren’t cooperating. It generally all goes together. Is it only golf causing an issue with the elbow or are there other activities that are a problem?

    • @mikeoneil1186
      @mikeoneil1186 5 років тому

      It actually isn't from golf. More from swinging a baseball bat and pitching. I had two cortisone shots, the last one I followed up with physio. Just started throwing again after three months off, and while it felt sore the day after, it does feel a little better after five days. Doesn't feel like it will ever be 100 percent again though. Like most throwing athletes, my main concern is the UCL. Was just wondering how much the pronator teres strain affected that ligament. The shoulder is completely back to normal. Strong with great range of motion. Thanks for the great vids too.

    • @drkristieennis
      @drkristieennis  5 років тому

      mike O'Neil certainly the same forces that cause an issue with the pronator trees in pitching can cause an issue in the ucl. The ucl is also attached to the medial epicondyle so there is a higher chance of causing injury there. Are you changing your pitching at all in compensation?

      Fiona Jennings that’s absolutely correct. I have created a specific tool for fascia release. I have found, in my research and practice, there is no need to cause bruising, pain, or blood vessel rupture. The derma edge allows you to grip gently and apply a gentle pressure for release.
