Hi everyone! If you're interested in the research behind the wrist brace component of my recommendations here's a link to a research article on the topic. Thx for watching! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20363158/#:~:text=Discussion%3A%20Significant%20pain%20relief%20with,for%20patients%20with%20lateral%20epicondylitis.
Ok I’ve sorted mine and I’ve come back here to share how I did it. I do motorcross and I damaged mine properly!! I tried everything including 3 cortisone injections. I also bought that silly strap which actually hurt it even more. Mine was torn on the tendon and the muscle was torn causing pain from the tendon, down about 5cm. NOTHING worked. Rubbing it sideways, up and down, icing it, etc etc etc…It was so so bad, I couldn’t do anything-had it for 5months. I started to read all the comments and picked up two bits of info. I bought a simple hot water bottle. I started every evening after supper, to put the hot water bottle on my arm and hold it there until it cooled down. I got it as HOT AS POSSIBLE!! For as long as possible. I also did it some afternoons. While doing it I kept my arm as STRAIGHT AS POSSIBLE!!! Then, I went to sleep with my arm STRAIGHT and never bent it in the night. I used extra pillows to keep it STRAIGHT. I did this for 3 weeks thinking I’m still going to have to go for an operation.. when one day I woke up and it felt sore, but a different sore. Because I’d kept it STRAIGHT for as long as possible, it had a chance to recover. The heat from the hot water bottle brought blood supply to the area and it healed. I went for a slow ride yesterday and the rest of my body is sore, but not the tennis elbow. I’m still doing the hot water bottle!!!! I’m NOT getting this pain again I am determined!!! HEAT AND OXYGEN & KEEPING IT STRAIGHT WHEN YOU SLEEP. Try it, don’t use ice, and don’t try anti inflammatorys because you need it inflamed and hot!!! Good luck!! 👍 Allan
Thanks for this. I've heard the same thing about using heat to heal. Runs contrary to the ice method but it's worth trying if there is a possibility it will work.
I’ve very been wearing the elbow brace all week while working as a mechanic and doing it very good. Normally something like this would annoy me and I wouldn’t wear it but I noticed almost instant relief when turning spanners at work. If I don’t have it on my elbow and hands starting building up pain and then I put it back on again for relief
I started doing the hot water bottle massage in the evenings, and put my elbo on my spa/hotbtub jets in the morning. My elbow pain is reduced about 50% after a week. Im putting on a wrist brace I used for carpal tunnel when I go to bed tonight. I also tried one of these straps and had the same outcome. It made my elbow much much worse. I put the pad right on the tender muscle area just below my elbo. Bad spot to put it, and I left it on way too long in all honesty. Thanks for the tip!
@@shanevision As a side sleeper I tend to curl my wrists when I sleep which aggravated my tennis elbow. I slept 2 weeks with the brace and it did a good job of healing it. Unfortunately, the tennis elbow is back. I'm using the Bauerfeind elbow brace Sleeve. It gives relief but I don't think it's healing anything. I will def try the heat treatment
I'm so glad that I found this channel !!!! Everything you have posted has been beneficial to my wellness. Thank you for caring about humanity, wishing you many more years of health and safety. Thank you.
Well, the problem with mine is overuse because of my job, but unless somebody can pay me to stay at home and rest, I can’t really stop doing what I’m doing.
@@mrtexican8302 I know right. It sucks. I’ve done everything PT wise and ice and heat. The only thing that works is ibuprofen but I can’t take those everyday. But I’m in a lot of pain everyday
@@1000sofusernames my PT finally gave me some exercises to do at home every day and so far it’s helping. I guess the answer wasn’t rest and more of being aggressive with the physical therapy.
Recovery, not rest. Granted, you shouldn't be using the arm past excess, but not using the arm will also make the problem worse. Joint stabilization, ice, but more important is heat, to promote healing. Mobility exercises are also important since blood takes at least 2 minutes to get into connective tissue, unlike muscles. The other major factors are: sleeping positions, prioritizing nutrition for health, and removing alcohol from your diet for at least 90 days. The problem is not the job. The problem is not taking those extra steps to make sure you're taking care of yourself. I know this from experience.
So I went ahead and did as you prescribed. The price for the brace was reasonable however the guitars were expensive. I couldn't decide what guitar to get so I bought 2 of them. 1 by someone named Martin and another by someone named Taylor. The brace must really work because now I can play them both. I didn't even need to practice. My 64th note scales are flawless on my Martin and my sweep picking arpeggios are effortless on my Taylor. Now I need to find the brace that helps me play the piano. I want to be able to play Flight of the Bumblebee or Rachmaninoff's 3rd Concierto. Here we go. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
This video is so helpful and I myself have tennis elbow and been suffering for months now. I was considering using a counter force brace until i saw this video. Im currently using Mueller green wrist brace which helps a lot in restricting my arm activities. It helps just like what this video suggests. So glad I watched this. No need for counter force strap.
Great videos Burke, as a keen golfer with a chronic left elbow issue, your rock climbing experience and extremity focused physiotherapy is a huge help for me. Appreciate your effort. Thanks!
The elbow strap helped me heal initially (when I finally stopped using my arm after many months of injury) and then I would use it only if I felt inflammation. Moving back into using my hand/arm for strenuous work I would carry a wrist strap, or even body tape I could support my fingers with (I would put Elastoplast cut thin, down the top of each finger, or sometimes around my palm). The wrist strap was I think the most helpful in the end, and I wore it for a year when I felt any inflammation in my wrist, or before pushing myself. Now after a couple of years Im feeling strong, and though I get a bit of inflammation when doing strength exercises, Ive found its fairly temporary/mild if I use straps when needed. Its great to be able to actually work out again
That was very helpful. I appreciated the explanation of how the strap works via the guitar. I am getting back into Fencing, and switching weapons (sabre to epee), so the grip is totally different as well as the type of motion. The strap helps address the pain while I'm also building up strength via the Theraband flexbars (I use red and green, depending on the motion). I'll have to try wrist braces as well, but I'm pretty sure the grip change is more of the problem for me than the wrist motion changes.
Hi I'm a plasterer & had severe tennis elbow. I couldn't even lift my forearm. I couldnt sleep . All the physio exercises did nothing for over 6 months. I was then offered injections and surgery which both would of had negative side effects. Then i tried the clasp within days the pain had reduced after a month I could work again. It changed my life and was the only thing I found to relieve the pain. 5 years on I've had no lasting issues so long as I wear it at work. I suppose everyone is different and have different results. Just use what gets results for you
I’m dealing with this now, and it was caused by doing some exercises with a different grip. I can do my powerlifting with my barbell, no problem - but externally rotating kills it. So I stopped those exercise - but I found the tennis elbow strap made things MUCH, MUCH worse. Using kinesiology tape in an X configuration crossing right over the tendon from the mid-forearm to the middle of the upper arm is helping me so much, along with red light therapy to try to speed up healing. As long as I’ve got the tape on, I have little to no pain and can work out pretty normally - but I know I’m probably going to have to have this tape on for a few months straight to let it properly heal.
I have tennis elbow issues in both of my arms from working at a desk full time. I use two wrist braces and do random stretches and strengthening exercises. Nothing is improving my situation, so I finally just went ahead and got forearm braces to see if it does anything different. I really have come to the conclusion that I will just have to take time off from work through workers comp, unfortunately.
The best think you can do is stop working. The second best thing, is proper excersizes, that will take pane away. It only takes some seconds and you can get rid of the pain, just with those excersizes. Surgery is an option if you have a lot of pain and it's very difficult to use your hand, fingers don't close etc. However, even a surgery won't guarantee, that you won't get tenis elbow back again. I didn't listen to the doctor and people's advice, to quit my job, and I have regret it. The issue got worse and worse, to the point I couldn't grab the spoon to eat. It also has a lot of pain. I mean, it can get way worse than you can imagine. Hope you did take care your arm since then. I gott it on both arms.
@BigtimeSGH I got a injection cortisone a year ago pain came back tried brace but wasn't consistent. Pain came back about a week ago. Prob need another shot at this point. Work construction hard to stop working
Not sure if your issue stems from gripping a mouse all day, if so, I have found switching to an external trackpad from apple really helps, the trackpad offers a large surface area and you’re not constantly gripping something, perhaps combined with a reticulated keyboard tray to optimally place your arm may help although I have not used this. Also, I combine it one of the smaller apple Bluetooth keyboards rather than the full size one as with the full keyboard I find the trackpad is too far to the side for comfort. Unfortunately this mostly works with the Apple ecosystem, I’m not aware of any good windows/chrome based external trackpads. On the trackpad I keep my hand loose, master gestures, and stretch/rest from time to time.
Thank you, as a guitar player the capo really explained how the brace works in language I can understand. Wow is it painful to play a guitar with this condition in your left elbow, got it from shoveling snow 🤦 I also bike to and from work, holding the handlebars is painful too.
Thank you so much this has been a real eye opener for me. i have been suffering for years probably due to extensive karate practice over 20 years. however i wenr from karate to Yoga 6 hours a week and the pain came back. now it hurts strangely enough, at night when i sleep. occassionaly waking me up. i will certainly follow you advice and hope for the best
I've used that wrist brace for carpal tunnel issues but it is impossible to use for sports such as golf. Good info though...very complete and overall helpful.
Agree. Nothing helps when playing golf. Elbow strap did nothing for the pain nor injury. Wrist strap is just impossible to use. I even stopped golf for 2months during my physical therapy sessions and after a couple rounds the pain came back. Next up will be cortizone shots, plasma shots, surgery.
I recently developed tennis elbow in both arms, with the left being the worst. But I wasn't sure how to use these straps that my son sent me when he heard the bad news. Now I do. So thanks. Also an aside, in 1968 when a sophomore in college I purchased a brand new Guild D35 dreadnought guitar which I still have and play. Played out all through college and then in 2000 when our kids left for their college educations, I started playing out again and have really enjoyed it. Nice illustration with the capo. Now what I need is a wrist brace.
Very helpful and I used the stretch of the back of the hand thru to to the elbow to dramatically reduce the swelling on the tennis elbow. I also have golfers Robbie and some more stuff which is located in between the two points at the very top of the elbow. So icing and ibuprofen were not affecting my recovery like stretching did.
My Dr. just recommend one of these straps to me. He also said a lot of what you are saying. They will not help if i continued with the activity that caused the issue. These are for some relief but not the cure. I found that it helps when i am doing daily activity's, and I can see how the strap could be misleading. So, I'll have to play it cool and unfortunately no more 15 game streaks at the bowling alley. :(
I had tennis elbow in both my arms 10 years ago. I had a cortisol injection in both arms, my left side, and the pain was gone. My right arm, I had a total of 3 injections, then had tennis elbow corrective surgery, and that fixed the issue. After 9 years, my left arm pain has reoccurred, I had 2 more injections, and sadly, it gave me steriod induced Diabetes which I'm trying to reverse. The pain went away for a few months, and I refused to have another injection. I will look into elbow support for the time being, but ultimately, surgery on my left arm seems to be the way forward. Exercises, for me, make my pain worse.
It's incredible the timing of things sometimes, but then again there's supposedly no such thing as coincidence. I didn't search for this video yet I've been having this Exact problem on just my left elbow and I believe it's from heavy lying dumbbell extensions. I'd saw another video suggesting gripping hard , repetitive etc could cause it so I'd backed off but also broke out that strap a couple of days ago. 😮😮😮 So , amazed I came across this, but not totally. Universe is incredible. Thanks for the video, it helped
Thank you so much fo such an informative video. Funny, I'm a guitarist too and the capo illustration is pretty cool. I really like the gentle way you describe the use of the strap. I would have loved to be your client for treatment, but I live in Switzerland.
I'm not sure if your argument against the strap makes sense. In the case of the guitar, if you've got the "capo" on the strings, then the tension is held at the capo, not at the tuning pegs. Right? If the tension is reduced or held constant at the brace, its seems that it would give the area at the elbow a chance to heal without additional stress.
Hi Burke, really enjoyed your video. You're the first therapist who recommends wearing the brace directly over the tender point of the elbow. Everything I've researched on positioning the brace puts it about 2 fingers beneath the point of elbow pain. Can you please advise on this? Thank you
Hi David, thanks for watching! great question. There are two effective ways of using it - as an offloader and also as compression/combined. I find the latter more effective and most of my patients end up experimenting with different placements when they start using one and end up more or less over the site of pain. Finding the 'most comfortable spot' and the best relief is the best use of the brace for short term relief, so I would recommend experimenting to see. Good luck!
Hi Burke, thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it as this is a very frustrating injury. I believe I got it from playing table tennis 3x a week. I was scheduled to receive a cortisone shot but cancelled it because of recent research that doesn't exactly support this injection for Tennis Elbow. I know that you didn't expand on this issue in your video but if you could share your opinion once again I'd be very grateful. Thank you
Great points. After major elbow surgery I used a wrist brace not understanding that the injury was caused in part by wrist movement in addition to grip. Thanks for this.
I’m a new subscriber. Loved your example using a pressure band over the guitar frets! Just got the wrist brace and will wrap only when I need to. Now I understand why I have more discomfort when I wake up and after doing those stretches like gripping fist down and with a straight arm. Thank you!
I appreciate the capo reference you used; it's a good one. I've been through over three years of chronic (medial) elbow pain--including useless surgeries--and don't understand how I was never directed towards a wrist brace, which makes perfect sense! I like your gentle and thoughtful approach to healing.
I knit. Have no idea if that's caused my tennis elbow but thanks to you I'm going to use my wrist brace instead of the elbow brace. I'm also going to follow what you recommended for helping it heal. Thanks!!
Nice effort. Actually we tie this brace just below the level of tendon /elbow joint to minimize the pulling force on this tendon during muscle use.....and not on the tendon insertion as you hv told. Regards
for tennis elbow help me tapes. it takes a bit of experimentation to get it right. if it's uncomfortable, take it off and try another way.. the effect is solid
I have had 3 different doctors tell me two different locations to put the brace. The first had me put it in the same location you indicated. The second and third said to not put it on the painlocation but below it.
Genius! After a few months of this condition becoming overwhelming, just yesterday I had the thought to use a wrist brace but discounted myself. Thank you for validating me.
So, this is for those of you that are experiencing long term pain that is seemingly chronic. Its been 6 months for me. I had tried both rest and physio exercises, and a combination of both. I had days of relief, but in general, the issues were ongoing. Then, I discovered the Athlean X kettle bell routine for tennis elbow. This was the beginning of realization. The kettle routine was giving me relief but not permanent. I did start to notice that when this routine popped my elbow joints, I would get almost instant relief, but with residual tenderness at the tendon. To be expected I suppose for a tendon under constant strain. So, I remembered I had seen one or two vids that suggested some Tennis elbow is actually a fruit of joint dysfunction and misalignment. I went back and sought out more vids on this issue, and came up with a couple of exercises/movements that are designed to pop the joint back into alignment. Guess what, I went from having a day of pain and restricted motion to near instant relief. So, for me at least it seems my joint is out of whack. This makes sense for me. I was aggressively chopping wood when I triggered my Tennis elbow. So, for me at least, it seems I need to focus on alignment and also strengthening the arm muscles. This goes for the shoulder too. I'm taking a holistic approach to building my arm back up. Good luck. UPDATE: 4 months after posting this comment I am more or less back to normal feeling and function with my elbow. It does want to slip out of alignment from time to time, but a simple pop stretch movement usually sets things back. I have been in good shape for quite a while. Initially I was doing popping and stretching several times a day for the first few weeks before my elbow was comfortable being back in alignment . I will continue to pop and build back muscle strength as needed.
Sure, so right now I use a combination of kettle bell swings and popping moves to get my elbow to realign: ua-cam.com/users/shortsQJKIiQtg85g?si=5rrDVQTmL35kykUF ua-cam.com/video/r7Arz53_f3c/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Hn4O6hCDqfo/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/users/shortsVTuPRZ1L_08?si=_DqTlvsvLG3MrhA- @@juliaengelmann2970

It has taken a while, lots of popping and stretching , and I am back to my full exercise regime. But the pain and discomfort from before is all gone. The elbow will want to slip out until it is trained back into position. I found myself doing wall and table pops quite a bit. The Kettle bell swings are excellent for stretching and popping a stubborn misalignment. Let us know how it goes
A doctor showed me not to wear the brace directly to the point that hurts as you do kind sir, he told me to put the point of presure, exactly after that point. So that's like half an inch in further, from where you showed. It makes sence, because as you said, it acts like the guitar gadget, so to help the damaged muscle, we have to put the brace right after the point we feel the pain!!
I came here for the tennis elbow advice but now I’m distracted by the cute guitar 😂 what’s the model of the Martin travel guitar? Could you post a link to it? Thanks for the advice too 😊
lol thx for watching! It’s a Martin LXM www.martinguitar.com/guitars/retired-models/LXM-Little-Martin.html?srsltid=AfmBOopvXkKpTMdOj8oFV2u6fDssj6AAMbmYZ-R0ddTMNO4VlLSaPpb2 Cheers!
Excellent advice Thank you... It's comforting to know that I was doing the right thing it was just like common sense to me to have a wrist brace to make me not use my arm so thank you for confirming that for me.
I made the mistake of practice bowling the day before my league. I barely finished game 2, and did not bowl the 3rd game. My forearm was hurting so badly. As a Senior, I got my self a lighter ball (went from 16 to 14 pounds). I was also wearing a wrist brace, but this did not prevent this injury. I'm hoping that the band for tendonitis will help.
As an avid weightlifter within the past 20 years, I've dealt with tendonitis of the elbow for at least several years. I never thought about using wrist wraps/brace for elbow tendonitis until your explanation. I've always used the straps like the one you showed from Aircast.. it was more of a band aid and never really helped for the long-term, especially when I stop using it for a while.. I will give your advice a go, thank you!
How often would you recommend doing the rehab process if I'm starting to have tennis elbow but still want to continue to play tennis ? Also should you do rehab strengthening exercises over a bit pain? If it's still manageable with immediate stretching of course afterwards ? Thanks
I already have the wrist straps I mainly wear at home and to bed . I fill shelves at a supermarket and have to work to pay the bills. My doctor has diagnosed me with mild carpal tunnel due to numbness and tingling in hands and fingers. My thumb on right hand also sore. My elbow on left arm is sore as well.. thanks for your video was very informative. I find it hard to work with the wrist splints on as they slow me down but I will have to do this or I’ll be worse off.
Counterforce strap is good during an acute phase but I would be leery of going too tight on it. Short term crutch to prevent reaggravating an acute flare up.
As an upholsterer I find the armbands are useful especially for tedious work like pulling staples/hog rings and when I am actually sewing. Using scissors is especially painful for my tennis elbow. I have it in both arms right now and still must work. Thanks, your videos are very helpful. If I understand rightly I should use them for when I have to do something, but not wear them all the time?
I work for a small busy butcher shop. I cut meat and load it into people's vehicles for a living. Going on week 3 of having severe elbow pain, I will do anything to make it go away. The pain is creeping up into my shoulder. Ice helps a lot and will try one of those braces because there is no stopping my job.
I'm going to give a strap a shot. I got my problem from 1 really bad night of extreme over use in a game. I don't intend to ever do that again so I'm not worried about repeat offenses. But my elbow/bone/tendon is killing me now for 2 weeks and I have to use a mouse for 9 hours a day so I'd rather not be in pain that whole time.
I am a tennis player and have golfers elbow. It is stubborn and it is in the bone. I just went back to Tennis had a long league match and I could definitely feel it. I don’t want to give up my sports are there any supplements or things I can do to help?
I have some bad tennis elbow because I broke my hand on the other arm. Looks like I'll have to use one of these because the wrist brace isn't feasible. I can't be down two hands.
Nice video, thanks. Have you considered the strap could be helping to relax the muscles by constantly applying pressure on them helping to stretch them? Could this not help? Also, the pressure might help to flood the area with more blood to promote faster healing?
It is very helpful thanks for sharing the knowledge! I have a question If I only start to have mild tennis elbow symptoms, can i still play tennis with lower frequency wearing the elbow brace/strap?
I recently discovered what I thought was Tennis elbow was actually Golfer's elbow usually related to weightlifting, but sometimes trying to chip ice off the sidewalk shoving a blade forcefully under ice in front of me impacting hard jarring my right elbow. Once in a fall breaking my fall with my right arm as well. My worst episode was after working out hard and finding the next morning it felt like I had elbow restraints bilat and couldn't bend either elbow for some time several hours. It was very painful, especially if I palpated the Medial epicondyle, but mostly no ROM, no ability to bend elbows to even pick up a phone or even put on pants. So, I figured out that it was golfer's Elbow I am able to treat it more effectively. I did try the elbow brace for Tennis Elbow with some success with pain relief.
Thanks for your professional assistance! I've looked for everywhere for am answer to the following question, but couldn't find an answer: would a wrist stabilizer for carpal tunnel work for tennis elbow, or is another kind of brace needed?
Thank you for the video. I have a related issue where I think due to prolonged desk work over the years, my pinky finger has started to feel numb over the last 5 months or so. I think it is because my elbow presses against the desk where the nerve runs through. Do you have advice for me on how to get rid of the numbness in my finger and how to prevent it from happening again?
I am currently wearing a strap/brace for my tennis elbow. I do bowling for sports, and work at office, and the overuse is causing it. While behind computer, i can definatly tell, i have a lot less pain with my daily job. But as soon as i am done, it goes off. During my breaks i take it off as well, like you said, don't wear it for too long. I have not tried bowling yet with it, but i think it will benefit me on that part as well
I currently have it and am a bowler too? Where you able too treat it? I’m gonna stop being hardheaded and really ice it and exercise it for 2 weeks till league starts hopefully it goes away
Hello@@aminchicas1428. I got rid of the pain permanently in 6 weeks total by wearing the elbow brace and also using Thera-Band FlexBar for extra training and strenghtening it. I have bowled with the brace, and for league it was okay. Not totally painfree, and used a arm compression sleeve as well. Tried a tournament with it as well, but after 6 games (of the 10) the pain was unpleasant, and it screwed up my scores, because my focus was way off.
@@PatrickLarson Oh most definatly, i was pain free after almost 6 weeks already. Did use the elbow strap when i was bowling, but put it off right after it. Used that grip bar thingy to train a few times a day and that helped me a lot
The strap was recommended by my PT for short periods of time later in the day at work. The Ortho doctor said to wear it all the time. Sometimes when I wear it it feels better sometimes I’m in worse agony - I don’t understand it.
I was also told the weather and all the time, so I’m not sure who to believe they all have their theories and they’re all very believable so 7:15 I don’t know what to tell ya.
Thank you for your video and your clear and concise information with all caveats included I really appreciate that I have been struggling with this for a few months now and only really because I didn't know how to treat it and I worked through it and have now completely eliminated the action that I was doing before and replace it with something far less strenuous and much more ergonomic long story short I was taking pizzas out of the oven with the wrong paddle. I've got a question for you though about your feelings about KT Tape?
thanks for watching and glad you are making progress! i'm a fan of KT Tape - i think it has a very clear analgesic effect although it takes some trial and error and it doesn't work for everyone. it's inexpensive and easy to experiment with, so i give it a thumbs up in combination with other therapy.
@focusrehab today I did exactly the method that is the most recent one on their Channel, for tennis elbow, and also put on my wrist brace that I have as per your advice and I felt the most Improvement I have felt in weeks and I feel as if almost that it's going to heal very quickly now almost all the numbness went away and I'm able to extend and make a fist. I actually found another physiotherapist who gave some great exercises, If he wasn't a little crazy and almost a little too energetic and enthusiastic. But the combination of everything REALLY REALLY helped. I can't thank you enough for your video, selfless contributions like that are truly a godsend. Cheers and my sincere thanks again!
I'm pretty sure my tennis elbow has been brought on by playing guitar. I can't take any significant break from playing, so what would you recommend? A wrist brace is not feasible whilst playing...
I am a hairdresser that use a blowdry with my left hand what can I do after the twisting exercise for the gripping I am not a climber so I did not get the end of your video
For me, my golfer's elbow should be called guitarist's elbow since I got it from playing several hours a day for a couple years now. Do you think I could use the wrist brace and still play guitar or will it restrict my wrist movement to the point that I couldn't fret properly? I don't want to buy one if I can't play the guitar while wearing it. BTW, I'm doing plenty of stretches, massage, etc. to address the causes of the problem, but I want to weare something during these acute pain periods. My golfer's elbow started just 4 days ago.
Sir nice video to go through, but I have a doubt,, how about using a elbow support comparitive to the one you showed, which is bigger than you just shown, that covers your arm and forearm little, and how much time in a day I can wear that?
I’m retired. Recently, I’ve been looking through my baseball card collection and organizing the cards by putting the players with their respective team. It’s become a problem causing a lot of pain radiating up to my elbow. I originally thought the ulnar nerve was trapped. This video opened my eyes on this elbow band I have been using, but I was still having pain. I’ll have to look through your collection of videos to see about exercises you recommended
Thanks for the information, I was just about to buy one of the elbow braces but now I'll get the wrist brace. I am in So Much Pain. My irritated lateral tendon is from crocheting. I have been crocheting, just about daily, for 8 years but now it causes horrible pain. I can't even pick up anything without pain. ☹
Hi everyone! If you're interested in the research behind the wrist brace component of my recommendations here's a link to a research article on the topic. Thx for watching! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20363158/#:~:text=Discussion%3A%20Significant%20pain%20relief%20with,for%20patients%20with%20lateral%20epicondylitis.

Good luck!! 👍

You and me both.
@@mrtexican8302 I know right. It sucks. I’ve done everything PT wise and ice and heat. The only thing that works is ibuprofen but I can’t take those everyday. But I’m in a lot of pain everyday
I'm also stuck in the no rest zone. Too much I have to be doing to actually rest it properly in the first place.

I was considering using a counter force brace until
i saw this video.
Thanks!

Hate the annoying music
Just use what gets results for you
What’s the clasp? I’m a carpenter and just got first bout of tennis elbow
Yeah please let us know what exactly a clasp is
When you say clasp, do you mean the arm band? Cheers
Did you ever find relief?
@BigtimeSGH I got a injection cortisone a year ago pain came back tried brace but wasn't consistent. Pain came back about a week ago. Prob need another shot at this point. Work construction hard to stop working
@tahoe got the second shot been about a month or two an I can start to feel the ache when I lift. Might have to go this route soon
Wow is it painful to play a guitar with this condition in your left elbow, got it from shoveling snow 🤦 I also bike to and from work, holding the handlebars is painful too.
this sounds weird, replace the handlebars with one from a kid's bike that are higher, then you won't be leaning over the bike
I love both of these braces and they work wonders.
Thank you.
I have had moderate pain after bowling. I will start using a wrist brace and see how that helps.
Yes its worst at night 😢
What a great explanation! I’m a musician and play guitar among other instruments. I totally understood this. Thanks!
Very cool demo! Focus on the fundamentals communicates a very sincere and deep understanding of the subject matter!
Can you make a video about elbow self care and healing for massage therapist over use ?
My Dr. just recommend one of these straps to me.
Wow! I didn't know those shots can give you diabetes!! Scary.
I have tendinitis on both sides of my elbow caused by heavy computer use on my accounting job. I could def use some rehab on it I’m sure.
Very useful information.. clearly understood the pain caused..
I caused mine doing bicep stuff down the gym.
Thanks for the video... Btw your cabinet doors came back open when you left that room.
Thank you very much. I was just going to use an arm strap but you have clarified a better approach with the wrist bracing.
Thank you so much fo such an informative video. Funny, I'm a guitarist too and the capo illustration is pretty cool. I really like the gentle way you describe the use of the strap. I would have loved to be your client for treatment, but I live in Switzerland.
First, thank you ever so much, that was very helpful. I also like to point out that you really are a most awesome teacher and I learned a lot from it.
Thank you
This was very helpful! Balanced and well rounded info of the situation. Thanks 👏🏽
Great points. After major elbow surgery I used a wrist brace not understanding that the injury was caused in part by wrist movement in addition to grip. Thanks for this.
What about using an elbow compression sleeve, any benefit or harm in that?
Thank you, thank you thank you . Just what I needed.
Thank you. Very helpful info.
Thanks!!
Fellow knitter here. Yes, it definitely aggravates or causes the tennis elbow.
This video was really helpful. Thank you.
Very helpful never thought of that. Im a shear operator so I’m always flexing my right wrist to close the jaw
Thank you for this.
I have had 3 different doctors tell me two different locations to put the brace. The first had me put it in the same location you indicated. The second and third said to not put it on the painlocation but below it.
either can be effective, experiment and use the location that gives the greatest pain reduction, good luck!
Can u share link
Sure, so right now I use a combination of kettle bell swings and popping moves to get my elbow to realign:

My 'tennis' elbow is almost 100% better.
Thanks, Doc!
Good info with the wrist brace think mink got worse after loads of dabbing tiles. Iv use one of thoes infuture
I re-injured mine playing with my pup. I wear it to remind myself to not use that hand. Now I gotta get back to stretching it out.
Thank you 🙏
Great video...I was just about to go out and buy one of these, but I am going to hold off and focus on the other treatments...

How do u wear a wrist brace as a mechanic?
I will give your advice a go, thank you!
how was it?

Thank you so very much for your advice.
Super helpful video, thanks
As an upholsterer I find the armbands are useful especially for tedious work like pulling staples/hog rings and when I am actually sewing. Using scissors is especially painful for my tennis elbow. I have it in both arms right now and still must work. Thanks, your videos are very helpful. If I understand rightly I should use them for when I have to do something, but not wear them all the time?
thanks for watching! and yes that's correct, that's our general recommendation for using counterforce straps. Good luck with your recovery!
Great and informative video, thanks.
How do you know HOW TIGHT to make it ?
Thnx
Very helpful video. Thank you.
I have some bad tennis elbow because I broke my hand on the other arm. Looks like I'll have to use one of these because the wrist brace isn't feasible. I can't be down two hands.
do you have any advice regarding to the top of elbow? like the lower end of the tricep?
Nice video, thanks. Have you considered the strap could be helping to relax the muscles by constantly applying pressure on them helping to stretch them? Could this not help? Also, the pressure might help to flood the area with more blood to promote faster healing?
Why does it hurt worse when I’m trying to sleep at night? The pain goes all the way to my shoulder. :(
Thanks
I can't find the video about corazne shot and surgery
I've looked for everywhere for am answer to the following question, but couldn't find an answer: would a wrist stabilizer for carpal tunnel work for tennis elbow, or is another kind of brace needed?
thx for watching, it should work!
Thank you for the video. I have a related issue where I think due to prolonged desk work over the years, my pinky finger has started to feel numb over the last 5 months or so. I think it is because my elbow presses against the desk where the nerve runs through. Do you have advice for me on how to get rid of the numbness in my finger and how to prevent it from happening again?
any suggestion for a cook that cannot wear a wrist brace while working?
Got golfers and tennis in the same elbow
Tried a tournament with it as well, but after 6 games (of the 10) the pain was unpleasant, and it screwed up my scores, because my focus was way off.
it's been a year. Did it work?
@@PatrickLarson Oh most definatly, i was pain free after almost 6 weeks already. Did use the elbow strap when i was bowling, but put it off right after it. Used that grip bar thingy to train a few times a day and that helped me a lot
The strap was recommended by my PT for short periods of time later in the day at work. The Ortho doctor said to wear it all the time. Sometimes when I wear it it feels better sometimes I’m in worse agony - I don’t understand it.
My ortho Dr. Said to wear it all the time also.
Cheers and my sincere thanks again!
will this work for the inside?
I'm pretty sure my tennis elbow has been brought on by playing guitar. I can't take any significant break from playing, so what would you recommend? A wrist brace is not feasible whilst playing...
I am a hairdresser that use a blowdry with my left hand what can I do after the twisting exercise for the gripping
I am not a climber so I did not get the end of your video
For me, my golfer's elbow should be called guitarist's elbow since I got it from playing several hours a day for a couple years now. Do you think I could use the wrist brace and still play guitar or will it restrict my wrist movement to the point that I couldn't fret properly? I don't want to buy one if I can't play the guitar while wearing it. BTW, I'm doing plenty of stretches, massage, etc. to address the causes of the problem, but I want to weare something during these acute pain periods. My golfer's elbow started just 4 days ago.
I have it in both my arms also.
Are you still in pain?
Most of my pain is in the inside of my forearm. Is this still tennis elbow?
