Anxiety is one the largest mental and emotional health conditions we see in the world. What many people don't realize is that anxiety isn't just mental and emotional, it is physical. Meaning anxiety can cause a whole host of physical symptoms in the body. I will go over anxiety in more detail today and how to spot some clues that anxiety may be operating as the cause of your symptoms.

I've had to look at the work of Claire Weekes. She was the anxiety expert, in her day, like Dr. Sarno is for pain. Learning to 'float' with anxiety and uncomfortable sensations is so helpful. Floating is allowing your body to go loose. Jim has a video on going loose in the body.

I have craniocervical instability that causes dizziness, vision issues and derealization, but I think when those happen my anxiety kicks in and causes so many more symptoms like leg weakness, tachycardia, GI issues.. while also making the CCI symptoms worse. I think I am centrally sensitized and honestly have ptsd from over a decade of this pattern. Thank you for this video - it helps me know I’m not crazy with the symptom fear.

I appreciate you’re more discerning and don’t try to assess all pain/dysfunction as TMS. The good quality longterm science isn’t there (yet) but many who do have it get relief from great sources like you. Even if it’s not TMS I do think info/videos like yours can help. Thx Jim.

It starts with changing your response to your symptoms. To one of acceptance and not one of fear. Let yourself feel everything. It’s uncomfortable but it’s not dangerous. You have to stop adding fuel to the fire with worry,catastrophization/constant focus on the symptoms. This is how the nervous system heals, when you give it space and time. You have to learn to live alongside symptoms without adding to them for awhile. In time, they die down. Your body is not broken. You are going to be ok. Jim’s UA-cam channel and also Shaan Kassam’s channel can help

Ive had fatigue and headaches for a year. I always realised anxiety was feeding it, but didn't know what to do.
No problems found physically. Then a friend recommended Alan Gordon's book, The Way Out. Also your channel. Both have helped me so much.
A year ago, Id have felt labelled crazy, but now I've worked through a lot of stuff, and can be kinder to myself.
      Thank you so much.

How do you tell yourself your safe and secure when you had to quit working due to debilitating pain? And now your living in your car with little money to eat and little resources to get help. Fear does not describe how I feel. " Full on terrified" better describes my mental condition.

I'm sorry for your situation, but you need to man up, the emotions are the symptoms, pulling back makes things worse. Talking/thinking like this makes things worse. You control your nervous system, get out of fight/flight/freeze.. How: stop fighting and resisting symptoms..... Welcome it all in, there all 100% safe. And gradually get back to living your life. Baby steps! The worst thing you can do is freakout!!! Stay grounded and full of joy. Check out fight/flight/freeze pics on Google (polyvagal theorie). Your not broken... You just thought you was...reqoinize your thoughts are creating your symptoms. You can turn this around.

I think your point is extremely well taken, Jim, that you have to stop trying to fix your symptoms with physical modalities. This is a point that Dr Sarno emphasized from the git go in his early Healing Back Pain book. You're only reenforcing the misperception that there's something physically wrong with you and there really isn't if your pain symptoms are caused by programmed neural pathways in the brain. So doing endless stretches and extensions in the gym only reenforces the underlying program with all its misperceptions. I guess you should just go to the gym to work out for your general health without focusing on any of your aches and pains?

I’m fairly certain I am suffering with long covid. I was sick in March 2020 and again in February 2022. I’ve struggled with relentless brain fog, cognitive issues, episodes of gait change and coordination issues, POTS, digestive issues, and most recently I developed varicose veins in my legs and bulging blue veins in my arms, hands, and hips.
I’ve seen countless doctors and specialists and have received no help.
I’ve seen a lot of videos claiming that long Covid is just TMS. Would TMS cause vascular changes like I’m experiencing? Would it cause the other symptoms I’ve mentioned? I desperately want to heal but have no options as far as medical doctors go and the only hope I have left is the mind body approach. I was told by another popular mind body TMS UA-camr that my vein issues do not sound like TMS. I’m starting to lose all hope.
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
