- In this video I give a brief and preliminary review of the white soul alpine strawberry, which is said to taste like pineapple. It's true, although overall a little disappointing. I'll gladly evaluate it for years to come.

I have them, too. I don't think they taste like pineapple. I call mine "lemon cream strawberries" and I like that they aren't as sweet. They are delicious fresh, and dried for tea.
Thanks for posting another great video, Ross!
I got a ton this year. You desribed them perfect with small and soft lol... Soooo good they really taste like candy. I have a bunch of neighbors hooked on them
awesome vid! hey can u do a vid (whenever u have a tree that needs this) showing u actually root prune a mature fig tree? i dont need to and wont need to until at least next year but i want to see a visual of how its actually ‘supposed’ to be done. loving the channel
Just take a third of the roots away. No visual needed. Imagine the root ball as a pie.
Would love to see a side by side taste test of Mara des Bois and the red alpines!
The red alpines definitely win.
I grow these .
Place water crystals in a grow tray had a sprinkle in the middle of the soil then water .add mushroom compost in your soil.
Then place the tray on top of a heat matt and add seeds cover with cling film and every other day mist the top of the soil.
They will germinate and grow faster .
You did Taglit? Cool. I live in Jerusalem. Growing some yellow wonder alpine strawberries there this season :)
I did! Jerusalem was my favorite city. Enjoy!
A misting system on strawberries would not be good, it would cause too much mold and strawberries mold easily. It would be better to use a drip irrigation system. Hoss Tools offers the best drip irrigation I have seen. I was very disappointed with the White Soul strawberry as well, I just planted seeds for the Pineberry, a white strawberry with red seeds. It is the one that is said to have the strongest pineapple flavor. It will be a couple of years before I know.
Yes. I mentioned using a misting system during propagation. Not out in the field.
My first strawberries are normally not as sweet. I have red ones though not alpine white ones.
Yeah..have a white strawberry variety called snow white..regular not alpine..but its disappointing.
My pine berries ere disappointing too. Like you said, the flavor is like 3x stronger but not sweet. They’re best for making smoothies and such. The first year they barely produced and my 40 plants put out runners like nobody’s business! I dug most of them out this year and easily had 400+ new plants that I gave away. They produced much better this year but not even half as good as my seascape strawberries.
To make them sweeter add either seaweed fertilizer or home made banana one add banana peals in a jar water a week later bliss the peal and water add more water and blend then add a copple tablespoons of banana to water and water them at the root .
My white soul alpines don’t make it into the house at all. I started mine from seed under lights and heat mat and they were flowering after 6 weeks. The first berries are not as sweet but I think the heat makes them better as long as they’re well watered. Otherwise they’re all seeds
The water is definitely helping.
If you want pineapple eat a pineapple if you want a strawberry eat a strawberry !
You're growing pineapple, Rocco??
@@RossRaddi Of course not i said eat one not grow one in the northeast.
