2022 UPDATE - Check out the review of the newer 2022 model here: ua-cam.com/video/laWGy3HLhxU/v-deo.html
It also looks like the Legion 5 now has Advanced Optimus!
11:28 the Y530 result is actually 27 FPS, this was a typo with the new graph, it's been fixed for future content.

I don't think it's highly necessary, the 5pro performs slightly better than the 5 according to cinebench. But game performance should more or less be identical with similar specs. If you care about display, design and aesthetics 5P , best price to performance 5 non pro

Maybe you can start working on the comparison with what you have and wait until you get the 5 Pro with the 3060, or do a seperate video for the a head-to-head thermals and performance comparison when you can.

Have last year's Ryzen Legion 5 (4800H). Very happy with it, but primarily use it everyday for a variety of tasks including coding, but not primarily gaming. Holds up well. Good thermals at balanced setting. No issues. So far a great workhorse laptop which has replaced my desktop. Based on my experience to date, I would buy Lenovo - Legion again.

The fans stayed on during idle because of a setting in bios. There's something called advanced thermal optimization, set it to disabled if you want the fans to turn off during light tasks. You had it set on level 1 which is 1800rpm minimum fan speed. But great review mate!

      @Angdvl089 2 роки тому +5

@@desirewithinus I love this laptop. Granted the last I had was a Dell from the early 2010’s. However, I also have a high end gaming PC built and I must say, my Legion 5 with a 5800H and 3060 runs nearly as smooth. Both in desktop browsing and in gaming. Although this laptop runs much hotter and at a lower FPS during gaming (to be expected). Other things to mention:
The screen blew me away. I own the 15” model and had my doubts about 1080p. The resolution and refresh rate make this screen feel like a much more dense and expensive panel.
The keyboard has some flex but not really noticeable when typing. It does sometimes get very warm when gaming though.
I sometimes have issues with using the trackpad (no obvious left/right trackpad buttons) but that might be a user issue.
One last nitpick is the sharp edges. They aren’t a huge issue I just wish they had a slightly bigger radius. Sometimes the chassis can feel sharp on the palms of my hands.
And if you’re curious, this laptop can meet its refresh rate of 165Hz at mostly high/sometimes medium settings of all the games I’ve tried.
Definitely worth the buy in my opinion.

Got mine with Ryzen 5 and Rtx 3060 month ago. Wanted to buy Ryzen 7 but they sold out in a blink of an eye. Still I think laptop is great! Got such performance boost after my previous laptop with 1050. 😁 The only problem is that 2gb of ram is reserved for integrated graphics. So instead of 16gb of ram like in specs you're getting 14. This was the only downside.

I know you have mentioned that you have compared the 1660Ti version of the Legion 5 but the 2060 with the good screen is the perfect comparison between CPU, GPU and Screens from 2 back to back generations. Ryzen 4800h and 1660ti fit the bill quite nicely for Genshin Impact. But it's great for everything else too. I think Lenovo should forget the smaller batter though. Nothing can beat Legion when it comes to performance and cooling. I have the legion 5 3060 QHD model (it launched recently). And the performance is on some other level. I tested it by playing God of War at ultra presets for 3 hours at a stretch and the GPU temp was always between 75-80! And FPS was around 60-65 all the time. I get little lower fps comparatively because my display is QHD.

I’ve also upgraded the ssd without any issue

Just some tips for legion users who faces problems where their "conversation modes reset after a restart" and "special function keys disabled after a restart",you have to go to 'control panel'--'hardware and sounds'--'power option'--'choose what the power button does'--then click 'change settings that are currently unavailable' and uncheck the 'turn on fast startup'..ive never had this issues for almost a year now after unchecking that, mine is a lenovo legion 5 15arh05 btw...but i'm sure it's applicable to all lenovo legion laptops, thank me later😉😉

What are your thoughts about the Legion 5 with Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3050Ti? Is the RTX 3050Ti a good GPU? If not, which laptop would you recommend around $1100?

Thanks for this review! I'm considering exactly the same config vs ASUS ROG Strix G15 (also 5800H + RTX 3060 Max-Q 130Wt). ASUS has a 300Hz screen, bud doesn't have a webcam. I can't make a decision:(

Legion 5 has a webcam so I think it's better compared to Strix G15 considering the other specs look the same
