MATCHBOX Restoration Major Pack No M2b Bedford Tractor
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 тра 2019
- This is my first 'Major Pack' restoration. I struggled to find some accurate source material to confirm it's original colour. I therefore had to wing it some what as I was convinced that the orange colour on this model was not original! - I guess it turned out that it was the original colour and that the previous owner had only painted the upper parts of the model in gloss black! - I think my decision was swayed by a previous unboxing video where 75% of the models had been painted orange! - I must apologise about the thumbnail and opening scene. I had somehow deleted the spinning carousel shot of the unrestored model. I don't know how but I guess as I am forever running out of storage space on my hard drive ( These video files during editing are huge!! Sometimes 3 hours edited to 25 minutes! ), I must have deleted it by mistake! I hope that it does not spoil your enjoyment of this video!

One of your absolute best efforts. That bronze wool is fantastic, reckon it helped.
Saturday breakfast with Marty. Wouldn't miss it. Laughed out loud at your battle with the tube cap! We've all been there.
I was crying with that part, like you said " We've all been there" XD
What was that all about!? - I could not fathom it!!!!!
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
@@Rakwas Honestly! Just as he thought it was perfect... boom! Not even close! OMG! So funny!
Marty, I don't do restorations or collect Matchbox models. However, I enjoy your videos, and I use them to put me to sleep. I retired last July, after 40 years as an educator, and I have had trouble going to sleep at night since then. I find watching your project videos to be soothing and helpful in getting me to fall asleep. Keep up the good work.
One can really appreciate the fine detail of the casting in this video. Lesney made some amazing pocket money models.
Wow Marty your best yet. Looks like a factory finish. That transparency came up beautifully
Absolutely...for me, the best makeover yet..😀
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
UUUH BABY BABY I'M DANCING WITH A STRANGEEER
Another amazing job, Marty. I watch your videos since last year and they improved so much in quality! Love the stories you create at the end, and also the bloopers always guarantee good laughs. Keep doing the amazing job! Greetings from Brazil.
Thanks for the trip down NY Post Memory Lane. That's the NYC I arrived to in the 80's for Graduate school. It's a very different NYC today, But I remember the headline and bust out laughing when I saw it in the video! Crime is down more than 1200% in the city since those days. I am a tour guide in the city today, and tourism has tripled since those days. The tour at my company is on me if you vacation this way! Love the truck! Thanks for "lorrying" me into watching another one!
Marty, first of all - your wife is a saint. Secondly - WOW! That paint job came out beautifully. And the shiny look after the brass wool was freakin' gorgeous. But I agree, I think that bowl is going to cost you dinner for 2 and some flowers. Bravo Marty!
Another magnificent Matchbox makeover Marty, marvellous.
Simply the best Marty. Pity about the bowl what did it cost.... Dinner for two plus flowers!!!!
Another beautiful resto and just what I needed after a long hectic day in the salt mines. All your videos are very soothing and the theme music and especially the subtle percussive background beat I've noticed, especially in earlier videos, is sooo relaxing. This video was a needed surprise and much appreciated.
Excellent job Marty! By far one of your best makeovers. And you know you're in the doghouse when your wife calls you Martin!
Thanks Marty, Errrr....Marty!
Another brilliant vid Marty! That Trailer sure came up a real BEAUTY!
Taking a break from work to watch your video. Always a pleasure...
You lucky thing! - Being able to take a break from work! - How does that happen!?
@@MartysMatchboxMakeovers I'm a university professor. Kicked everybody out of the auditorium to watch the adventures of Kevin. It's a win-win situation though. With 32 degrees in Athens, Greece today everybody needed a break!
Ha!ha! - that sounds so cool to be able to do that! - I am in Australia and am experiencing freezing cold mornings at the moment!!
@@MartysMatchboxMakeovers Make sure you wear one of your own fleece hoodies. By the way you should find a company in Europe from which we could buy your merchandise. I entered the site of the company you have selected to sell your T-shirts from, and shipping them to Europe was more expensive than the t-shirts themselves... I wasn't happy with that...
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
These older models looking so nice , especialy after a restoration like this. Amazing and awesome work. A saturday evening without a "Marty's Matchbox Makeover" episode is possible, but worthless. Very entertaining video! Greetings to down under!
That model looks fantastic Marty, and I love the rivet applications. I would have liked to see you apply the decals as I know they can be a challenge from time to time. The colors look perfect, really nice job!
Neatness counts. Nice recovery with the 'pop rivet' repair. That's dried black paint making the wheels and axles tight. I've seen caustic soda used in other videos, using old mayonnaise jars and warm water, apparently, with similar good results. Oh yeah, I'm on smoko, so leave me alone!
Thanks Sam54!
Excellent vid Marty! Always LMAO on your out-takes especially when the wife is asking about the missing bowl, Bob
She had two, now she's got one, but I'm hoping I can switch them out from time to time so she doesn't know! :)
Excellent work. "Headless Body In Topless Bar" is the classic New York tabloid headline.
Hope you liked the video! - Thanks for commenting!
Truck Driver here from the US Really enjoyed this Restoration
Keep up the Good work Marty and Godbless
They say over here that 'Without truck drivers the nation stops!' I guess it's the same where you are. Great to read your post! and keep on truckin'!
Eastbound and Down, loaded up and trucking!
10-4 good buddy!
we're gonna do what they say can't be done,
Marty, are you sending the Doctor out to get your newspapers now?
That NY Post front page is 36 years old!
I'd love one of those, never seen one before. My dad used to build bodywork on Bedford TK chassis and I loved them as a kid.
Superb job as always, probably hasn't looked so good in over 50 years.
Thanks Paul, a bit like me! :(
Holy moly that's gorgeous! Looks at that sparkle! Another Sunday early morning well spent
Nice one, love the colours
Thanks Derek, I think that they are close to original.
Such amazing detail, love old matchbox cars and trucks
Awesome job! Glad to see a truck and a van get restored. I'm a fellow truckie
That is one BEAUTIFUL Matchbox model!! I love it, Marty! This is one of your best restorations! "...Oh, baby, baby! I'm dancin' with a strang-errr!"
I love these videos! Especially the brief story line you assign to your models. Very nice Marty! Keep them coming
All of your projects come out great, but this one is amazing!
People dislike this? wth? How can you not love Marty? haha
Marty!!! Beautiful work!!! Love this king of truck!!! It was so common in Argentina when I was young!!! My father told me about this company when I was a child and right now I am share your video with him!!! Best regards from Argentina!!!
Great to hear that you are as one!
Marty and a coffee!!... perfect saturday morning!!
I must say it sounds good! - ( Wish I could relax on a Saturday but not for the foreseeable future! ).
i added french toast on my end but yes. Marty and Coffee make for good saturday wakeups.
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
Just blame Kevin for the fruit bowl. She will understand....maybe.
I guess your wife doesn't look at the videos otherwise she would know about your little escapedes with her kitchen stuff 😉
Got hand it to you, I was pretty surprised when you painted so many pieces in orange, but the finished product was great. I appreciate your craftsmanship and hope you continue for a long time.
The Major Packs are my favorite series of Matchbox cars. I have at least one of each and I buy extra beaters whenever I get the chance. I plan on restoring and customizing some to match colors in catalogs and on boxes that were never produced. I appreciate the effort you put into your restorations and videos. I have learned much from your videos.
A.R.S. Axle Rounding System ? is the shed known as A.R.S.E. Axle Rounding System Establishment ? lol.
Great video. I love the look of the truck and trailer. Tons better. :)
Well Marty is part of the Old Fast Action Response Team! ;-)
I can imagine the look on my better half's face if I announced I was just going to go into my a.r.s.e. for five minutes or so 😂
Curiously enough it comes from The old Latin word for work-shed Arserium.
Truck looks amazing. Be perfect for display center piece. Allways great work enjoyed the vid. 👍
THANK YOU...for sharing. Has to be one of the finest Makeovers yet. Fantastic job.
Thanks ELSDP-45 glad you liked it!
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
Even the Marty the master craftsman sometimes struggles to thread on a glue-tube's cap! Priceless!
😂😂😂😂😂 absolutely agree about vacuum cleaning after using brass brush
Awesome Marty I do love a truck restoration and you just don't see too many of them on UA-cam. I myself have a couple but I really should get round to doing
def do it, you are getting two for one! :)
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
I owned this model as a kid back in the mid-'60s. This video made e think of being 10 years old again.
That is one of the sharpest restorations to date, just beautiful.
"Next on Marty's Fruitbowl Makeovers!...." I thoroughly enjoy your videos Sir.
Got any good glue!?
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :)
Excellent restoration! It looks excellent! The outtakes were funny as well!
Hi Marty another fantastic job, the Bedford truck and trailer look like are fresh from lesley factory ,keep up the great work.
Thanks Nigel, always luv some positive feedback!
Beautiful job. Your videos and skill at restoring matchbox cars is getting better every week.
Oh baby baby, I’m dancing with a stranger.
The bronze wool is great! Could almost leave the vehicle unpainted.
Peter Strafer - I was thinking the same thing!! Like the hot wheels ZMAC cars, only better!!
Excellent restore keep up the good work .
That's your best yet! It's great to follow your progression as you try new methods and hone your craft. The detail on that truck was beautiful and you did it so much justice. Thank you from England MasterMartyMatchboxMakeroverer.
Guy walks into a "Topless bar" Sees beheaded body!! Screams!! "Not what I was expecting!!" Love those headlines!!
I’ve just got back from Holiday Marty so having a binge watch great stuff😁
Great restoration job mate, certainly one of your best works.
Also asking myself who in this world dislikes this videos?!
jay_watch - Jealous people with no talent to complete a restoration job as nice as this. Probably the kind of people that painted it black in the first place!!
@@chesterswingjr9796 true that...
That one was really daggy to start off with and ended up looking better than it left the factory originally!
Incredible work! One of my favourites by miles so far.
I have a massive soft spot for the Bedford TK models and as a kid I saw them hard at work along with trucks like the Leyland Terrier... common as Ategos and Cargos are today.
Brilliant as always, thanks Marty 😊
To say marty"s builds are ice cream is to say marty"s storytime is the cherry on top!. And served with a smile!. good day sir.
That was an amazing restoration Marty, I want to restore a mitre 10 matchbox truck, I really enjoy your channel
Another Great job Marty!
It looks like it just came out of the box! Excellent tutorial and a great save on the over sized hole. That was a good idea to use the pop rivet.
Thanks John, I shall try not to make that mistake again.
This was your most incredible effort. It looked immaculate. Well done Marty. Superb restoration!
Another great video. Dump the wd40 and try PB Blaster it works better on rust. No Kevin 😥.
Excellent work. You better stay clear of the Mrs. for a few days if she finds the pieces of that fruit bowl. Good luck mate.
( She won't find them! - I hid them under Kevin's bed! He! He!)
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
Well Done! You saved another relic from the scrapheap for the next generation.
Another beautiful restoration. This matchbox looks like it came right out of the store.
Awesome job Marty, you are too hilarious also.
you can try a canning jar there made for heating up to seal
"Pop" is a brand name. Blind rivet is the general name for it. And a great job on the model, as always.
I can believe that as it sounds like it could be true!
I work with nuts, bolts, washes, blind rivets . It's like a jacuzzi is a brand name.
POP rivet is exclusively owned and trademarked in the United States by Stanley Tool Company. It has become a name for rivets regardless of brand, just as Velcro or Kleenex have for hook and loop and tissue. He's 100% right, Marty.
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
Great restoration! But the out takes... Priceless. Cheers Marty.
So glad you like the outtakes! Marty.
Brilliant resto mate. And, not only have you buggered up another of Julie's toothbrushes, you did the fruit bowl too !! 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍Best regards to you!
i love your vids you are so funny brightens up my day, keep up the good work
This is your best work yet! Perfect colorscheme and very nice finish. It also shows you've mastered the fine art of decal fabrication. Too bad you'll have to buy your wife a new bowl.
Meh, Santa will.
My favourite Leaney diecast were always Bedford trucks. As a child I loved the trucks and industrial vehicles and delivery vans the most. (Plus the No. 70 ,Thames Estate Car) which was my ultimate childhood favourite.
Me too! Thanks Michael for taking the time to comment.
The secret to a successful marriage - sound sincere and convincing when you lie through your teeth! Seriously, great video Marty.
Great advice Al!
Yeah))) always tell the truth, even when you lie lol))
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
Reminds me of the BEDFORD TK worked on them in the early 80s
It is a TK! Or a derivative with a TK cab! :-)
True story! I’m refinishing a fire hydrant and making it into a beer dispenser. Layers and layers of old paint coming off slowly. Guess what I say when I finish one piece completely............”I’m happy with that.......” thanks Marty!!!! Lol
Absolutely the best restoration thus far! Thank you!
Everyone be quiet she might not notice it is broken.
Don't mention the ###, I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it! ( Basil Fawlty voice).
believe me , they know ... I never work out how ... but they just do !!
One of your best ! Lovely Model 👍🏻.......... fruit ball ....... piep ! 🤣
Dear Marty I really like watching your restoration videos
That model was quite clean with no extra unwanted flashing to file and remove. The paint job and decals is top notch too and nicely detailed.
I'm a truck guy so this ranks up as one of my favorites of all time! 👍
is it possible that it is the nicest one on your MMM fleet to? looks awesome
Marty remained beautiful! Thanks for all your valuable advice.
But I'm worried about your Koala! Where did he go?
That one turned out really good, one of my favorites.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
The King. Love it! Beautiful job on the lorry.
Did you notice the 'Elvis' haircut on the 'King'?
Great job and loved the story at the end.
But Marty you can't sing.
I.don't have another glass bowl, chuckle
LOL
probably should have mentioned I use the technique in old jam jars .....oooops
Love it, Love it, Love it. One of my favourite castings in the Major Pack series and you have totally nailed it Marty. It also comes in a second livery with silver cab and dark red/maroon trailer and LEP International Transport decals. Just as a suggestion when using caustic soda as a stripping agent I use a Cook ware metal meat dish/bowls with a Teflon coating. It will eventually strip the Teflon coating possibly but at least you have no risk of the container exploding. Also as a precaution wear rubber gloves and goggles in a well ventilated area, it takes no prisoners like skin and eyes and has a harmful odour that can damage lungs. That said ' Top Job Fella'
What you said in spades TBID, both in the quality of the work and the hazards of paint stripping. I once saw a supposedly qualified chemist drop 50kg of caustic soda pellets in 50kg of water - fortunately, we managed to run out of the room before it exploded! Concentrated caustic will remove fingerprints from skin and leave burns if repeatedly exposed. Nitrile gloves will provide better protection than pvc.
Oh boy, those brass pads are super on that job.
They did a good job eh!?
Thanks for the reminder about Pyrex...or I would have followed you into the poo.
Top Notch video Marty, did you ever get that cap on,? thanks for sharing..
This is a real nice truck, you did a great job giving it new life.
Love the detail they were able to put in way back then! And another great job, Marty!
Marty what kind of newspaper do you read hahaha cheers from Argentina!
that's everyday news in Australia I guess!
There used to be a paper published in the UK called "The Daily/Sunday Sport" that was well known for it's crazy headlines and stories, I guess this is the Aussie version.
The kind that'll keep him from visting NYC.
Great little truck... where did you get the 1/64 workers?
I bought a job lot of 100 from China via Ebay, they have many assortments to choose from.
1/78 scale figures work too, even for 1/64 scale cars
Very Nice * Look My Channel Pls :) 👍🤗😂
Really enjoy your work
Making old toy cars new
It turned out beautifully, even by your standards. Cheers from the USA!
ah the good old days where TK's were everywhere, defo one of bedford's most successful ranges :)
Yeah next time, tempered glass. Plus your wife won’t kick your butt. Go buy a 4 or 8 cup measuring cup. Pyrex please.
Let's hope julie doesn't find that fruit bowl or she will go bananas.
Benjamin Houlton lemons 🍋. She uses it for lemons. 😂
ha! Ha! :) - She can be a bit of a 'fruitloop'!
She won't be very grapeful
This is probably my favorite restoration that you've done, Marty! Fantastic work!
Thanks, Rhinexing, I always try my best!
Best yet for me! Absolutely immaculate and factory fresh.
