MATCHBOX Restoration No. 43c Pony Trailer 1968 & No. 64b MG 1100 1966

- This is a special video, why?, because it is four makeovers in one. The Pony trailer and MG 1100 models were donated by some of my subscribers, as were the two plastic horses which came with the original model.
This video has been heavily cut and edited. Originally there was over two hours of footage which showcased over 10 hours of work! It is a shame that so much information ended up on the 'cutting room floor', but if it hadn't happened then this video would be too long to watch!
I do hope that when you watch these videos you appreciate the time taken to make it look easy. Thanks for watching, Marty.
Footnote: After viewing the finished video I noticed that the trailer at the beginning had hairline cracks at the rear of the base. This explains how I came to break it, I originally thought that I had just been heavy handed.

Having grown up in the 80’s Marty’s restoration models are all before my time. None the less, I’ve enjoyed every one his videos. I was a Hot Wheels kid myself and have yet to find someone that restores them with the same care and quality that Marty puts into his work. Great job!!!
A bonus episode, two vehicles in one show. Excellent for my Saturday morning viewing with coffee. Cheers Marty
Nothing like watching a Marty Makeover to polish of an afternoon of working on our own diecasts...
What a great way to spend time with a cuppa on a Sunday morning! Still in bed, wife doing social media stuff, daughter being cute (and trying to be annoying at the same time), son downstairs watching TV and Marty making me all nostalgic on UA-cam! I owned two of each of these as a child, so great to see what you did during this video. I really enjoy your vids, they are so relaxing, interesting and bring back such wonderful memories of simpler times!
How could anyone give this a dislike? It’s perfect. Thanks Marty!
Thanks Sleepingdogish.
And every vehicle you restore turns into a work of art again.
Thanks Liz, love the positive feedback!
Indeed! I rewatched Marty's resto on the Bedford Tipper: no wonder the view has over a million hits!
They look like you just took them out of the box! Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing this double tutorial.
Your videos really are a welcome distraction for me. Pennsylvania is getting hit quite bad by Covid-19 and my daughter is a nurse. Thanks for bringing much needed joy!
Marty - you are turning out some superb productions - great filming and excellent results. Well done.
I can't care less about Matchbox cars, but this channel is so amusing and interesting I've been watching it for hours. Very professional crafting, and lots of tips.
Hahaha the headlines on your newspapers always crack me up Marty, some good old British/Australian humour. “3 Inch Dog Ate my Missus”
I love all of your videos, thanks for making them. I wish we lived on the same side of the planet.
Oh my goodness. I have about 100 of these - all original - including these two models (and the horse!) I had no idea they could be restored. Awesome!
Unbelievable to think they're the same models really. There won't be many original unrestored ones in that sort of condition. Fantastic!
Thanks Paul!
Really a nice looking renovation both models. Once again you have recreated two lovely toys.
Love the attention to detail...even straightening the suspension. I feel like that makes the car look new again as it rides higher than when it was sagging.
Glad you liked it Everard and thanks for posting a comment!
Marty, your work is great on so many levels. My son and I watch it together every week. Love it!
I remember as a kid that the MG and the Red Vw 1600 always sagged in the rear once played with very much. I'd like to see a MG 1100 tow a loaded horse trailer in real life! Thanks for the memories, Marty!
I have to say Marty, in my mind that’s your best ever makeover. All 4 of the models now look superb. Great work 👍
Once again Marty, another brilliantly executed video, w/ such detailed work... spent two cups of tea watching.... beautiful results...
Love this channel, I has so many of these models when I was a kid, Lovely to see the restored to their former glory!
I remember having the long trailer when I was younger. Brought back some memories......
Marty I agree with the majority below. Looks as good or better than the day they came out of the boxes! Superb!👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Marty, from Marty! ;)
This brings back memories of our 1967 summer in England. We had a Morris 1100 at our disposal and it was taxed hauling the 5 of us around. Pull a horse trailer? I wonder if it could?! My youngest sister was a toddler or we would not have fit. My Father figured out how to drive it and on the left side of the road on his own, my Mother needed lessons. "Gear down Madam!"
Happy memories Bob!
This is what my Saturday's is all about. The wife and kids out of the house and just myself at home with a cup of tea watching Marty.
How sad are we?? - Ha! Ha! Thanks for watching!!!
lol...in my case it is coffee
some of the best pleasures are the guilty ones.

Sunday morning here. Perfect timing

Dear Sir! I am looking forward to your work, most of these matchbox I have had! Keep up the good work! An enthusiastic viewer of Hungary.
You know a video is great when even such a blatant product placement as here with those glues, can't ruin the enjoyment ;)
Great as usual.
Some of your best work. Thank you for showing us.
Came out beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I have the Austin in mint with the box. But now I want a trailer and horses to go with it. Love this. Thanks Marty.
Ha Ha! - So funny. They do seem to compliment each other don't they!?
Marty's Matchbox Makeovers they do. I don’t have many trailers in my collection so it would be good to get some. instagram.com/Sharpbluecollectibles
This is the best video ever! Got lots of interesting blue screen activity in the beginning and lots of techniques that anyone can do to freshen up a Matchbox
vehicle. Wat to go Marty!
Just a superb channel. Superb content. I often just re-watch these for sheer relaxation...the music track is incredibly soothing.
Very awesome job. They came out wonderful
Thanks Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed the vid and left a comment also!
Im going on a cruise for a week on sat. I can't wait until your next video. Beautiful as always my dear
What a treat. Had this exact model. Mine was metallic blue if I remember correctly. The dog on the back seat was a neat touch. I think Matchbox were at the top of their game at this time. When the paint is stripped, the detail is amazing. In fairness, I think an MG 1100 would have struggled with a laden pony trailer!
Really appreciate your work. Thank you.
Great job Marty. The models turned out fantastic. Can't wait to see your next makeover
I like that you showed all the pieces before assembly!
I love your newspaper headlines in your spray booth. Some crazy stories
Beautiful ... As a Collie lover and breeder, I must find one of these MG with the Collie in the back seat.
Great video, Marty. Looking forward to seeing more.🍕🇭🇲🦘🧔🐈🐾😁👍😎
GREAT JOB AND VERY LABOR INTENSIVE, THANKS MARTY!
This took me most of my free time this week to make it happen! - Hope you liked it!!!
@@MartysMatchboxMakeovers It all was very well done, I rebuild double hose scuba regulators from the 1950s and 60s and most people don't realize how labor intensive (and pricey) restorations are.
Just picked up a pair of these this week whilst on holiday, nice restoration as usual.
Best make over nice and shiny and nice colours. Good job Marty.
I love to watch your restoration work.
The way you layed out all the parts was a work of art in its self
John, I am so glad that you noticed the details included in this video. So many people don't comment on the subtle things that I do to try to present the process as professionally as possible.
I always look forward to seeing your videos. Especially your bloopers at the end of your videos.
I guess that's what makes me different from all of the other restorers! - Just wait until they start doing it from now on.
Awesome as usual, I get a kick out of watching these videos. Slick production Marty 🥇
Double episode in one! They all look amazing. 👍🏻🇦🇺
They look brand new! Well done!
Another great video Marty, you're always the best.
Thank you for your valuable advice on the products you can use to perform restorations.
I have both these models and will definitely restore them after watching your video.
I hope it's as easy as you showed.
Grazie Marty.
Thanks Carlo for watching and leaving a great post!
You have the guts of a riverboat gambler! Using an open flame on a plastic model piece. How much is too much how much is enough. Great job, the trailer and car look great!
I’ve found gentle use of a heat gun works well. They are pretty inexpensive.
Amazing work, especially on the windscreen. As a kid the windows were first to go if I got bored of a car. Used to smash them by pushing a screwdriver through them! It was fun at the time. Most of my Matchbox cars ended their days on the school playground or got crushed in the vice in my dad's shed! Much older and wiser now. That's also why Matchbox cars are worth decent money now in mint condition. I have 2. Superfast MG 110s in mint and boxed condition along with some others that I have inherited. Theyve never been played with and will be kept in the family, passed on to the next generation when they are old enough to understand they are not toys to play with anymore! Keep up the great work Marty! You and Time Rider are my favourite restoration channels
Brilliant as usual Marty and what a smashing makeover top job
Absolutely awesome restoration Marty !!!!!!!!
Wow such a royal looking car with the green paint and silver accents
I own several of the Horse/Pony Trailers from back in the day, but luckily mine were kept in pretty prime condition ... like most of my Matchbox vehicles. Nice to see one of my favorites being worked on!
Superb restoration and a double at that.
Another good one Marty !! Watched quite a few now , so catching up..👍👍
Really nice, the trailers especially looked amazing
Thanks Beau I was very pleased as well at how they turned out.
That was my favourite car when I was a kid. I always loved the little dog in the back. Nice job in bringing it back to life.
Simply marvelous
Thanks Lloyd.
Loved it, Marty. Great double restore!
I just finished this the other day. It was my 1st full on restoration and came out perfectly.
Thank you Marty for giving me a mew lease of life. As I have a terminal illness and this is my escape
Another great job, well executed. Superb.
This is not restoration. This is art! Great jop uncle Marty!
Thank you so much!!!! :)
I agree in my age i appreciate these little cars as tiny works of art
Amaziing job you did on the 'glass', looks like new.
Keep saying my favorite video yet! Hope you keep making them for many years to come.👍
Very nice. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thanks avion195!
Your videos are so much more than just matchbox restorations, this is real entertainment. I really like what you doing, please keep going.
Another great job. Thanks Marty.
Great job Marty. Like the details. 😊♱😼👏💟🍔
I am pleased with how the donation came out. The hat-tip at the end was a nice gesture, thank you!
Thanks Eric, as I said, with out you this makeover would not have happened!!
Great job Marty! One of your best!
Thanks Len. Too many comments coming to say anything more.
Sweet job, Marty.
Works of art they are. I hope you do a exhibition one day when your Restored Collection is big enough.
I shall but am waiting a bit longer as I only have about 80 models at the moment.
Morty!
Double whammy, Marty! Two great restorations… but wait, squared because of four models restored! Four models and still only one like button...
Life is cruel!
Your videos have reached a new pinnacle in quality and content Marty. I absolutely love these combination restorations. Brilliant job. More please.
Thanks Kevin, that is some awesome feedback!
Why is it on Mothers Day Im watching Marty? Coz this is another awesome video. Cheers Marty😀
This one takes me back, because I had that MG when I was a kid. It was in my HO train layout.
I was hoping to see the MG restoration after the unboxing video. Awesome!
Greetings from America. You're the best Marty.
Thanks Luke!
Very awesome restoration injoy your video
Kevin the Koala is an absolute superstar! Can we have more of him please? The restorations are very entertaining as well. Its great to see some of the toys of my youth being brought back to life.
Kevin cracks me up.
Me too.
Great vid as usual, thanks for sharing, all the very best … Trev.
Excellent work. I must have a go at restoring the MG 1100 model I have!
I wanted to tell you that I think your channel and your restoration work is great. I find the video's really relaxing and rewarding to watch and as a boy born in the same year as yourself, I remember having some of the cars you have restored. In particular the MG as my dad had one of these when I was a boy and eventually an MG Magnet. Takes me back to my childhood when I lived near Hackney Marshes in London and frequently travelled past the Lesney Factory.
Incredible restoration work, as always. The toy makes me wish they still sold MG in the states. (oh well)
you have come a long way since the first makeover. You have inspired me to try my hand at restorations
It would make me so happy if I have inspired you to take up this hobby! - Good luck!
Yet again, great job, Marty.
Thanks Cathy for your supportive comment. it makes me want to keep going! ;)
Back in the day, I passed my driving test in the 1100. Although, I think it may have been the Austin version. Nice job, Marty 👍
Austin were 1300
@@232nightowl What about the Morris? Edit: Just checked, Morris did an 1100.
Oh wow - it does look like new. Awesome video!
great work Marty your resto's are getting better and better each time
This is one of my favorite of your restorations to date!!! Love your videos and the work you do. All the best to you from the US of A.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
Perfect restoration:)
THANKYOU!!!! :)
Chances are someone has pointed this out but just in case you have a catch phase perfect for merch: "I'm happy with that!"
A custom paint job would be refreshing. Kevin needs more air time. Great vids, thanks.
Marty you are a great inspiration. I want to learn how to do cars now.
The Pony Trailer almost has a sunroof, never seen that before, lucky ponies. Well done to both you and Kevin, got to be your best makeover yet.
Brilliant video Marty! My brother had an MG 1100 back in the day, green like yours! :-)
Awesome video !. Thanks from Canada 🇨🇦
What a way to start a day. Great to see Kevin poking about too! Wire wool, hmmm. Bet you have some rusty sheep. (LOL)
Ha Ha! - I like that...'Rusty Sheep'!
