Commissars sent to ogryn regiments are given : "My first book of emperor stories " to read to them at night with extra coco to drink round the camp fire .
This isn't a joke. This is literally how I'd like these characters to be written. But I think it could have used the Ogryn's perspective on the deaths of his comrades in battle. Something like, "Sometimes some of my friends get killed and that makes me very sad. But even more of the bad guys get killed so that's good."

I imagine the Commissar telling him that his friends are now with the Emperor and that they are happy, and Og of course believing him It may be too wholesome for 40k, but it's still the sorta sad wholesome, so it'd pass I think
Did this Orgyn just wrote words? Without being a Bone'ead? This Orgyn truly is a genius! Give him a platoon of other Orgyns to lead. They might actually move in the right direction or use advance tactics like "not running into the enemy fire" or "waiting for the artillery to stop before charging".
@@eldritchgod4308 you do realize that when the Imperium uses artillery on a battlefield that requires Ogryns it is not just some small mortar fire, it is most like something between earthshaker and ordinatus rounds. Given that Orgyns excel at close range / melee fights you really do not want them to charge too early. Your advice is very sound for normal ranged infantry but Orgyns get very close and therefore need to arrive just after the last shells have hit. Given that Orgyns are very, very, very eager servants of his majesty, you might find that you need to hold them back a bit.
I was sceptical on Ogryn's at first because it seemed uncharacteristic for the Imperium to have them, and they looked a little out of place in a Astra Milatrarum army, but the more I've read about them and the more videos like this I watch they grew on me and now I love them if I ever make a Guard army I'll be sure to include a some Ogryn's
Humans tend to evolve and adapt to the planets they colonize throughout the imperium. Ogryn are a perfectly acceptable stable strain of the human genome. (technically, because there are "beastmen" that are genetically stable, they are also a part of the Astra Militarum. Although there hasn't been anything about them in the recent editions of the rules, as far as I am aware.) Also, there are "cat people" as well.
This is why we fight. We fight to give these gentle giants a brighter future, to secure a world free of the corruption brought by Horus' traitors, and the monsters they consort with. During the Horus Heresy, the only way traitors could get Ogryn to fight for them, was to convince them they're still fighting for the Emperor. I'm going to be especially ruthless toward the next Chaos army I play because of that.
I can just imagine this being recorded on a vox-record and sent to the leader of a minor uprising with this crudely-drawn picture. On the back, it says, "Wait till you meet him up close, heretic. He's coming..." The renegade leader starts shaking and crying fearfully.
The Ogryn remind me of the Minions from Overlord: they're tough, dumb and love violence. On the one hand it's wholesome seeing their leaders treat them with any amount of uncharacteristic kindness. On the other it's pretty dark that they're both essentially child-level mental capacity and being sent to die.
I feel like his talking to a guardsman that is tired from the last battle he fought on and met this guy and I think that guardsmen smiled knowing there are still good people that doesn't talk about how great is their unit are
When I watch these I find them adorable but sad because odds are the commissar or ogryn will die and I breaks my heart to think about hearing him say "Komsr please get up.. Og not want to be alone.." or if the ogryn is dying in front of the commissar to hear "Komsr bad bug made owie Og hurt vwery bad.." before passing on (AHHHH MY HEART)
I know it's a joke but the way Private Ogryn describes his Commissar is pretty much exactly what a Sergeant/ Master Corporal does for his troops, reminding them to tie their boots and not to forget their ammo

I love this video and I'm watching it on loop. It has inspired me to draw and write a little something for a ogre NPC in my Warhammer Fantasy RP campaign. It's a resume for an Ogre called Oleg and it reads as such: "My name Oleg. Oleg is a ogre and ogres is big and strong. Oleg works in castle with tiny humans. Oleg works with art of ill Harry [artillery]. My best friend is loo tenant Grausam. He very smart and give Oleg lotsa foods." I'm planning on making him a recurrent character and having him have a personal diary with similar content. I hope my players like him as much as I do.

FOOL! The artillery will provide cover by suppressing the enemy! Therefore one must charge *with* the artillery, not after it.

Ogryn being child soldiers with superhuman strength is a fascinating aspect to add to the grimdark of the setting.
