HOW TO SET INTO YOUR FLIP:
1: Get a good amount af speed and run forward
2: Jump at a 45 degree angle and lightly plant the balls of your feet onto the ground.
3: Rebound off as you jump up with your arms in the air.
4: FLIP (See Below)
HOW TO FRONT FLIP STEPS:
1: Understand that you should not flip unless you are properly prepared and have proper supervision.
2: You need to be able to get as much hight as possible (make sure jump up before trying to go over)
3: YOUR ARMS SHOULD BE UP. Keep them by your ears and wip them along with your upper body down to your knees. (It helps to bend back a little to get even more force)
4: Now that you jumped up and then slamed your arms and body down toward your knees tuck hard by grabbing your shins and get tight.
5: As your body starts to rotate over let your knees go and open up to slow yourself down and stop from over rotating.
6: Land on the balls of your feet with bent knees and lightly absorb the impact..
7: Celebrate
8:Practice, Practice, Practice
Please post any video responses or questions you may have on doing a back flip. Remember it is very important that you prepare for this trick and only attempt it when you are ready to fully commit to the move.

front flips feel easier because your body feels safer doing it. when going backwards although it is theoretically easier it does not feel safe so your mind tells you not to do it however that's where you need to learn to empty your mind and just do it
I think it is best to get over the fear into a foam pit becuase I landed on my head a couple of times... Also don't wear skinny jeans whe doing it :P
Liam Silverman Sweat Pants or Jersey Shorts are best
That's so true, I have tried many times to learn how to do a front but I can never land it because I over rotate or land on my, that being said, I don't really practice flips.
I do however have landed a back flip many times after the first day I got over the fear of doing it.
You just gotta trust yourself 100% when attempting a back or any flips really.
Did my first front flip. Thanks Man!
I can do backflips and front flips but im afraid of doing them on the ground. What should i do to get over the fear?
Avi Kalin just keep practicing them where you are comfortable and your confidence will keep building.
Ok and should i keep paracticing on a trampoline till i feel comfortable or ready to do it on the ground
I got over the fear by putting cushions, and covers, blankets ect...Cus i know they will save my fall.
Should I get a mat to practice wuth
go to the pool and do it of the edge
your videos inspire me so much ive been working out for a month and a half now and im not giving up and ive been practicing my front flips too and theyre getting better and better every day im never gonna give up until I reach my goals! :) thank you!
That knee slam happend to me on a tramboline when I was about 10 trying to be a parkourist :D
This tutorial help a lot I have been trying to do a front flip for years and just couldn't figure out how to do it right and find my valence because I always either over rotated or didn't tuck in far enough and so I landed on my back and not my feet! Thanks sooo much!
THANKS MAN I FINALLY GOT IT RITE NOW
This tutorial helped me a lot. I hadn't even attempted it a hundred times before I landed it perfectly on the ground.
I know this may be a stupid question but what do I do if I'm to aifraid to hurt my neck...
I mean that I'm to aifraid to get that momentum to go all around because I don't want to hit my head
If you flip fast enogh you can't hurt your neck. Try it into water or a foam pit. Just be safe and practice. You will learn it eventually.
If u do it.. you can only land on your back or feet but not head.. even if you just turn without jumping
A trampoline is a good way to do it too, also film yourself when you do something like a frontflib landing on your back/hips. Then watch your head and see how short the amount of time is that you are actually upside down

Good stuff Jesse! Took me around an hour of practice to learn the front flip after watching this video, even though I'm 26 with no background in gymnastics or parkour whatsoever.
I always thought that front flips were easier
This video is amazing, been around 10 mins and I can already do a front flip and land it, thank you so much
I just learned how to do a front flip! I posted the progression video on my channel if anyone wants to check it out
great job:)
Thanks bro =)
Nice man sub to me
Thanks man for all the helpful tutorials I hope I'm as good as u some day
When should we untuck
that's some thing u will pick up
Practice again and again ?
yup
Last I am afraid sometimes
Thnx dude for the help
For any people who have problems with this, go on google, search for a parkour academy close to you and join, this will help much because of your bodies natural defense mechanism that is keeping you from doing the flip, this is a very hard flip and doing it in a foam pit until you can actually land it is much safer and easier with professional help... Jesse la Flair is our icon in beginners parkour and we all would like to thank you for the inspiration that you have given us, who want to do this
I always land on my back
You have to throw ur hands behind ur head and throw them up and forward on takeoff... Make sure that u are taking off ur toes too and tuck tight.. Try to make ur knees touch ur chest
Liam Silverman do I have to make a running start?
Harmonizer808 Make sure you get a good jump also, not stomping the ground like most people do :D
Harmonizer808 yeah that helps a lot
dat's wat i did when i tucked but stopped midway...must not do dat and dat's maybe wat u did too...back was injured for almost 2 weeks
Thx man I know how to do a front flip without actually hurting myself,I showed the tutorial video to my friends are getting the hang of it.Thx again Jesse

Awesomeness! I will be practicing to better myself at this, mostly for my martial arts study of Taekwondo.

Hey so I did gymnastics when I was really young. I'm 13 now and I was just wondering where would be the best place to practice doing this, and should I start with the backflip?
I and my friends were doing front flips and so many people came over and cheered us on it was epic, like there was pretty much half of our school watching me and my friends
you're awesome man !!!! RESPECT !!
i learned how to do a front flip by myself but they were sloppy, this tut made them so much better
After watching this I went outside in the snow and I was able to do it after a few tries. :)
hey, thanks for making tutorial vídeos, they're all gr8, specially the scoot tutorial one it helped me a lot, but I have a question, if I start doing webster, can I evolve to the front-flip (what are you teaching in the video)? Please respond!
I do them on cement now😊 all bc of you Jesse
trying them right know onto mattress' and it is all about the commitment came to this vid to get motivation
hey i am having difficulty in tucking i am able to do it but sometimes cause i cant tuck i land on my back which hurts a lot but its bearable so if u could gimme any suggestion it would be gr8 and finally i am a huge fan of urs !!!!!
Hey Jesse I'm trying to add a rotation into my front flips but I'm unsure of the progressions to safely advance.
realy hope it helps me tomorow been practicing reel hard
I'm learning parkour and using all of these tutorials to help
Great tutorial La Flair
Help needed bros I keep landing on my back, when you tuck do you put your hands on your knees ?
i get a mattress in my garden, and i use one end of the matress to get more spring, to get used to the feeling. but when i actually try to do it onto one matress on the ground, i land still tucked, can you make a vid explaining like when to start tucking and when to untuck in mid air please
broh I realy need help with my front flip I can land then but me squatting there's something that I'm doing wrong that stops my momentum plz reply an help : )
Tried it :D it's not as bad as I thought hopefully i'll get it soon :)
That actually really worked, Thank you :)
Does practicing either a back or front flips a trampoline help with doing them on the ground or off an object?
Hey Jesse I can't seem to get it right. I got the spring, I got the arm placement and I try to lean my body forward. But I keep landing flat on my back and jarring my shoulders. Am I not jumping high enough? Or is there another thing I am missing?
The intro was beast!
So, should we start by doing it into a pool, try to front flip off of something, or just do the roll and try it?
thk u dud!!!! that was the technique and the perfect explanation i needed!!! :D
I almost did it I just need to land more forward and jump higher and would it be easier jumping off a garage tic tax off something and do a front flip? It feels safer
It would also be really great if you had a foam pit at your disposal, as that just about completely eliminates any chance of injury.
Nice Tutorial, really helped.
Thanks! Practice is the key.
when you jump off of something how exactly do you reduce the impact because I've tried rolling it reduces some of it but still my legs go like jelly and I'm confused can you help me please!
Thanks!! Helped a lot
Hey i can do a front flip almost perfectly!!& it's not scary at all if you try to do it on a soft land or anything that will keep you away from harm!!but jesse every time i do a front flip i don't end up standing..i end up sitting on my heels most of the time!!
soo any advise please??
I can do it over a table and everything it's fun!
Hey Jesse when I do a front flip I land crouching Dow no matter how high I jump or get out of a tuc enyhelp would be great Ty :)
This tutorial is very usefull but know i do a tigger jump an in the same time in the air an front flip an even an side flip......tanks le flair
Hey Jesse. I just tried to frontlip yesterday and I ended up tucking too hard and I smashed my face into my knee. I broke part of my jaw. When I get better I will practice frontflips again, but do you have any tips/pointers so I could avoid this? Thanks man.
PS My freerunning coach is Basillio (from New York). Hey said he's friends with you.
I practice it while wearing my backpack over a bunch of grass on a 6FT ledge. It's still a bit nerving but I've almost got it. My tip, keep your head tucked in with your arms covering it. Then when you're falling down, use the fall breaking roll.
Go somewhere or get something, such as a crashpad, so that if you mess up you wont get hurt at all. This is what helped me.
I dont have a gym to train backflips or frontflips. Its ok to train on a swimming pool? Just at the begining?
@abed elgilani in a front flip, you dont have the flow of movement like a backflip, making it more crucial to tuck (the tuck is crucial no matter what, but i think you get the jist).
It has snowed her in Holland. And if I put snow together, then Im landing really soft into the snow. So Im going to practice while I can. And Jesse, you are right, back flip is super easy...
I would really like to learn to do them off of things, I always over or under flip. Any tips???
Jesse laflair is a god! I got it!!!😃😀😄
hey jesse I totally understand everything, but my rotation is very slow I can usually land it but I'm squared down, any tips to help me rotate faster?
I CAN do a frontflip and land, but I found this helpful cuz I always just jumped flat-footed and let my arms stay limp, but now I can land a lot better, so thanks :)
it has become natural for me to shoot forward on takeoff....what drills can i do to correct it?
another thing, when exactly should i tuck?during the set or after reaching full extension?(p.s.whenever i reach full extension and tuck,i land on my back or butt.)
cheers jesse you helped me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
still scared to try it, what do you recommend (ability wise) i should be able to do before i try this...?
Hey,
I'm coming at this from a trampolining perspective so the biomechanics are the same.
Often the reason people rotate slightly off axis is because they're dipping one shoulder before the other. This is like a safety thing you do so you won't land on your head. Just be conscious of it and keep practicing. Probably helps if you video yourself flipping and watch it from multiple angles.
Is it better to jump into the front flip stomp foot or split foot?
can you do a tutorial on different ways to somersault over objects that you cant necessarily vault?
quick question won't tightening your abs help propel you forward into a roll?
iv bin wanting to do this for a while now but where i am theres tons of snow is this more dangerous of safer
Is ir good to first try it on a trampoline and then do it on the ground?
Thanks this helped me so much
thank you for the safty tuck!
for everyone with trouble practise your frontflips on sand at your local beach,or example of log into the sand, less painful if you screw up. or into a gymnastics foam pit, or your local parkour gym. jump up tuck flip stick the landing and listen to Jesse ^. Hope this helps.
I need help!
I was told Webster is easier than two foot but I find too foot easier but I just can't land it even on a trampoline! I jump tuck tight then release when I see the sky but land on my bum all the time! Could someone please help!
On the trampoline try to use the bounce when you jump to start youre spin. Also you can try jumping with angles so that youre front flip get already started
Hey, I can't figure out how to do a front flip & fail every time. I uploaded what I can do to my channel & was wondering if you could see it & let me know what I'm doing wrong. Thanks
Jesse do you close your eyes and flip or is it easier to keep them open
The safety roll, then the precision jump, then wallrun or tic-tac, then whatever you feel the more fun AND confident to do. Even before and even while practising these basic moves it's important to do some conditioning and flexibility training. You'd better check more websites and tutorials for more details before starting.
i can almost do it. i have once though. i just need to remember to pull in tight. any tips?
i love ur editing
