This song was absolutely MASSIVE in late '82 and '83, it was everywhere. AM, FM radio, record store displays and popular culture of the day. It couldn't be avoided and it was a great tune. A defining song of the early 80s.
The great thing about great music (or any music) is that you learn every day even at 65 years old I wasnt aware Asia were a 'super group' there you go.....Oh and its one hell of a song,,,,,,
I saw this wonderful band in the early 80's, in a venue northeast of Baltimore (I forget the name), where my musical friends and I saw many fantastic concerts, including Frank Zappa, Al DiMeola with Steve Gadd on drums, and the Guitar Trio of DiMeola, John McLaughlin and Paco DeLucia. Asia was a high point. Wetton's voice was always mesmerizing. Palmer drums were pounding, the band was really outstanding. Great memories!
Seeing these guys play this tune always makes me happy. It was THE song of my adolescence...played the album so many times literally wore the grooves off the vinyl. Plus this reunion they got around to after like 25 years apart really was so awesome to see! The way this tune breaks down to a friendly jam really showed how to do it too! So sad that John left us but the music always lives on.
Here's to John Wetton and what a performer he was and had the privilege to meet him back in the 90's and what a classy guy he was and so down to earth. Great concerts with Asia and his great voice and guitar playing will live on forever..👍👍😎
When I was enlisted to the army, I heard this gem and was very much blown away by the introductory guitar riff. Then I really discovered who Steve Howe really is!
@@griffin06001 to my knowledge he was the original guitarist in Asia, as well as Yes. Just an all around master of the instrument! one of my favorites!

Steve Howe’s guitar performance was incredible. He intentionally played the guitar so incorrectly with the the guitar score to make the song much more beautiful. This is definitely a wonderfully awesome skill you cannot get.
Like 'em or not for being commercial, it was great to see four such accomplished musicians together.Geoff Downes -criminally underrated - a fantastic keyboardist - as good as anyone (there, I said it). John Wetton, incredible bassist and phenomenal voice - RIP to one of my favorites ever. Carl Palmer - just one of the best, to this day, and Steve Howe, doing what he do, which is magic. Great video, thanks for posting!
Was incredibly privileged to see this line up at the tiny venue of the Cheese and Grain in Frome Somerset UK about the time of this performance. Was amazing my wife only knew about two songs before but loved it. John Wetton was superb - gone way too soon.
Awesome to see Carl Palmer and John Welton in their younger days. RIP John. Your music lives on. When I first saw this title, I thought it would be with Greg Lake on vocals since John had minor disagreement, and Greg was available to do vocals for a tour-thus putting Greg and Carl together again when ELP was having it's issues in 77/78.
SAY IT AGAIN!! The best of everything that defines a decade. HANDS DOWN! CASE CLOSED! We were extremely fortunate to have experienced that time during the prime of our youth.
I saw Asia at Wembley on the tour for this album. Really great gig, very distinct sound. Carl and Steve’s playing is less busy than with yes and Elp but it’s so distinctive and stylish. Asia were so polished.
So Amazing to see these Older generation Japanese People Loving this Early 80s Band,I Wonder what Year this is…Carl Palmer is Such a Great Underestimated Drummer,& Definitely Cool to see a Mix of Bands here….I remember seeing this Video in somewhere in the Early to Mid 80s
So sad he died young in his sixties from colon cancer. I'm 50 and getting my first screening this month. Yikes. But that cancer took him and Kirstie Alley far too soon. I got this Asia cassette for Christmas in 1982 and I will always love their music forever.
Never saw them live in the 80s but finally saw them for the reunion tour and the Omega tour as well as later with Sam Coulson and Billy Sherwood, then later with Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and Steve Howe for a few of the songs on YES' Royal Affair tour. Great band.
John RIP great bass player and singer gone but not forgotten 🎸🎼🎤💔
They were having fun, they fed off the energy of the crowd and gave it back.
How lucky were Aisa to have one of the all time greatest guitarist playing for them
Absolutely. My dad always had Yes playing in his car, but Steve has shown time and again he can play and vibe to everything, and be mellow/adaptable

Saw them at the Long Beach arena back in 82 . When I was 20 years old in Box seats not old enough to drink
Would have loved that opportunity

I have to say that Steve Howe rocks as hard in his 70's as he did when he was in his 20's! Such an amazing talent!
I think he in his early 60’s here. He has slowed down quite a bit. ❤
@@monicadonnelly4991Also some of Steve Howe's arpeggiated riffing is uncharacteristically dissonant & sloppy here.🙉 WTF was that all about?!🤔
