Wow, that makes me feel really, really old. I was all starry eyed. We went our separate ways. In retrospect, it was just as well; at that time, did not seem like it.
Same for me… I graduate high school in 1984. So these songs mean a lot to me. Mostly it's when music was music. Real singing real instruments. No autotune. And think about it how many bands are there still left. And how many bands are still being created. Hardly any at all. It's cheaper for somebody to make some music on a computer and have one singer sing the 80s when music was real
@@Frank_E_Scialdone I started high school in 1984. I agree with every word you said. A few decent bands came out in the 90's and early 2000's, but nowhere near as many as in the 60's to 80's.

My brother bought the LP in 1982 and I still remember when I listened it for the first time…..41 years laters I still sing this song in the morning especially. Amazing band…..
Only time will tell. What a song. What about the lyrics. As many times as I have heard this song. As many times as I have tried to understand the deeper meaning in the lyrics. Never get tired of this or even many Asia songs. I think in thousands of years people will hear this song and some will ask who were these geniuses? Who was John Wetton? May the music be with you.
@@Patrick-ih9cp Thanks Patrick for your comment. „A different meaning that blends together.“ Music and his lyrics are a wonderful way to get people together. So imagine you're not a native English speaker. Try to understand these words in the lyrics from the song then in your native tongue, the words that built the sentences. Followed by the meaning behind them. Is it an advantage to be native because all words and sentences are from the beginning are well known and the sense behind it should be clear? Or is it a disadvantage because many things are so differently in your language and then you try to understand the deeper meaning? Only time will tell. A different meaning that blends together. I think I have something learnt again. Have you, your family and friends a wonderful christmas. May the music always be with you.
The singer expresses confidence that a falsehood or deception is no longer present, using the metaphor of the sun crossing the sky to emphasize the inevitability of this truth. The reference to tears that used to tide the speaker over suggests that the emotional difficulty or hardship associated with the lie is also gone. Overall, it conveys a sense of liberation or resolution from a challenging situation.
I bought this album not knowing who these guys were...Only Time Will Tell...Heat Of The Moment....and Sole Survivor...I only learned that after 63 years I found out who they were individually and I was blown away!!!!!
What an incredible band 😮 one of the best , all of them are/were😢 awesome musicians! Asia’s music has always been a part of my life for the lastt 40 years, each song brings back fond memories.
"The brightest ring around the moon Will darken when I die..." I was 7 yrs old when I first heard ASIA and was immediately taken by Wetton's voice. 40+ years later and I still love it. I still have my 45 of Heat of the Moment that got heavy play on my Fisher-Price record player! Rest well, Mr. Wetton. Thank you for the music.
This song brings back so many memories. A little over 20 years ago a relationship I’d been in for nearly a decade was ending but he was a pathological liar and was trying to string me along. Turns out he was having an affair with a 16 year old kid as a 29 year old adult and wanted to get an apartment for them. I had no clue but alarm bells were going off. I started dreaming about this song but hadn’t heard it in years. Then each morning a radio station would play this song daily while I was getting ready for work. It played each morning for at least a couple of weeks, all the while realizing that this was too bizarre to just be a coincidence. This song made me feel empowered. Soon after I discovered what was really going on and completely cut him out of my life. Poor girl got pregnant a few months later and he abandoned her to move in with a 19 year old. He denies to this day that he has ever fathered a child. What a great song.
They were a super group. And their song catalog is exhibit A. I spun their first two albums, cassettes in my car, relentlessly when I was 17, 18, and 19. And as love would have it, those songs still reach me today.
Got lucky as a youngster and saw them live, on their tour supporting their first album, in the early 1980s, a small but nice venue in San Francisco. This was before the hit song Heat of the Moment allowed them to sell-out large arenas. There were only 50 to max 100 people in the club, from what I remember. They were right there, with the audience right next to the stage, not like having a band up on a large stage, removed from the audience. It was great. When I got older I bought Steve Howe's next group "GTR" album - he left Asia. GTR was good stuff.

Steve Howe plays some awesome guitar on this...so melodic and catchy. I'm so excited that the INCREDIBLE Marc Bonilla will be playing guitar and singing on their upcoming tour. I love that guy!

Make no mistakes about Steve Howe's grampa looks, he's a giant and flies all over the scales like a god. I'm appalled by how these guys, Vai, Malmsteen, Satriani, Wylde, Gilbert, etc, pay tribute to everybody BUT Steve Howe. Seriously!
Good point because I was commenting on the song Time Again saying its like Yngwie before there was Yngwie Malmsteen and I'm a big fan of his since 1984. I was 15 back in Miami when Asia debut album was released. I got the album and amazed how good it is. Before it was Yes and Kansas that were pioneers of Prog Rock. Also Genesis of course. I think they know of Steve Howe but maybe fail to mention his importance and influence. They would be sheltered not to know how great Steve Howe is.
@@PaulC39 There was nobody and still there's nobody else like Steve Howe, even among the prog bands he's unmatched, but Yes is complicated, "progressive rock" is just a label, their song is beyond our time and beyond our world, I'm gonna leave at there. As for the other virtuoso guys, they DO KNOW about Steve Howe, make no mistakes, but they don't talk about him because he never had the batshit-crazy-satanic rockstar stereotype and he didn't live like this, so they don't feel attracted by his music. Except for that guy from Dream Theater, John Petrucci or something.
