From the time I bought the Live Москва 09-X1-90 CD decades ago, I always wondered what the announcer says at the very beginning (as also heard at the start of this video), but I was not able to find it anywhere and had no success trying to run the audio clip through an on-line translator. I recently asked an acquaintance of mine, who grew up in Russia, to translate it, and this is what Natasha provided: Russian: "Мы еще раз искренне приносим свои извенения, начинаем второе отделение програмы и, понимая ваше нетерпение, я буду краток , на сцене группа Азия. " English: "Once again, we sincerely apologize. Starting the second part of the program and, understanding your impatience, I will be brief, on the stage is the group Asia." Without giving me the exact translation, a different native-Russian speaker had previously told me that the announcer was welcoming Asia _back_ to the stage, so this was not a complete surprise to me. Maybe there was an especially long delay or intermission that necessitated the apology, or maybe this was the introduction prior to the start of the second of the two shows that Asia played. Regardless of the content of the announcer's message, it apparently sounded like good, authentic Russian, so they included it at the very beginning of the CD. Ride easy, Jon
No Howle, no Palmer and RIP no Greg Lake. John Wetton is good but not to criticize his voice does not have the depth of tone or richness that Greg had. RIP Gregg. Also there is no replacing Steve Howle truly one of the greatest guitarist of all time. That said Palmer is one of the best drummers in Rock as well.
This incarnation of Asia shows how much Steve Howe was a crucial part of the band's sound. It seems as if Pat Thrall had been instructed to 'dumb down' all the glorious parts played by Howe.
People admires and follow bass players like Victor Wooten or Billy Sheehaan. Yeah the guys have chops but They are not genius like Mr Jhon Wetton was. Great bass in Asia songs (I love them) but try to play "Starless" as Wetton did on King Crimson and you will learn what to be polished and talented really means
I wonder what kind of contractual limitations they had in using Steve Howe’s parts? Most of those flavors are totally gone. 😢 I wish Pat had made up his own parts for those fills. Would have been more interesting. Otherwise a good performance.
Twenty three minutes in, and that a-hole is still blowing that whistle. I can’t believe they haven’t made an announcement yet for that person to stop. Imagine sitting next to that guy? Haha
Not making any judgement, but this concert took place, according to the description, on 9/11/1990, 11 years before the attacks in America (9/11/2001)....also, ASIA's logo looks like a triangle and the lights are in the shape of a trapezoid....this must have been around the time of tiannamen, the fall of the wall and the end of the USSR....clearly ASIA and Spinal Tap conspired with Pythagoras and Archimedes to have the Arabs attack the World Trade Center! I figured it out!!! :-) :-P Enjoy the video! Cheers!
I was in the Russian music business in those day. But, a US passport was enough to get me backstage to this show. Those were the days....
Yes, those days we were friends with the entire world...😿 The future seemed to be wide open.
Rest in peace,Mr.John Wetton...I remember you...
Besides their heavy weight and absolutely great playing tje music of Asia always bring that possitive vibrations to my soul and makes me feel so good!
я был на этом концерте. мне было 20. счас 54.

+babal fish I like their version of Rendezvous 6:02. Not on the album.

MR TIBBS he's the devil
AWESOME!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!!!!
Geoff Downes slumming it with only 10 keyboards instead of the old 28. How did he manage?
Great singer he was RIP
No Howe, but still great performance. Downes is such an underrated keyboard player.

Wetton is the original singer and Lake sounded nowhere near Wetton on these songs so not an accurate point at all @@guyduboice8120
Lindo Asia the best.

I purchased this CD 31 years ago AND i also missed howe's figures on "only Time Will tell" and "Time again" wondering why that decision

"мы ещё раз приносим свои извинения!", "на сцене группа А-ЗИ-Я!!"))

333 thumbs up here on 3-22 yeah Only TIME "did" Tell
Who is on the Guitar, Alan Darby?
Mario Maynard Pat Thrall... definitely a heavier tone to his playing than Steve howe
No, Pat Thrall
Guitar is non existent
Bought this vhs back in the day. Good show, except guitar player sucks. Steve Howe is so much better

+drifter23337 ASIA's logo dates back to 1981! that is their look and was designed by the great Roger Dean! Get a life buddy!
@@mikedaliesio703 Roger Dean Yes however it is like "THEY" knew "something" was coming though!
Ridiculous shredding, typical of American guitarists, sounds so ordinary compared with our Mr Howe
They’re British, not American. Now anything you say cannot be trusted. Haha
