- TalkTV's Julia Hartley-Brewer calls on police to get their ‘priorities straight’ after new hate crime legislation that came into effect in Scotland.
Around 300 people protested outside the Scottish Parliament to oppose the new laws, with some saying they were prepared to be jailed.
A coffin bearing a sign reading “We hate hate crime laws” was decorated with masks resembling SNP leader Humza Yousaf and co-leader of the Scottish Greens, Patrick Harvie.
The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act was described as “totalitarian” and “ammunition for bigots” amid concerns of tit-for-tat reports, with one man taping his mouth closed to show his opposition.
Julia says: “When police are arresting somebody for a hurt-y tweet but not investigating every single burglary, they are choosing those priorities.”

Scottish police have already got numerous calls complaining about yousefs anti white racist rant, citing his hate speech law to be used against him.

I don't think he minds things that hurt women. That's evident from the fact that he didn't and doesn't view women as worthy of equal protections as men in dresses. Don't get me wrong, I don't want misogyny laws any more than the other hate speech classifications, but his attitudes are obvious.

This is also an end run around the UKs long standing anti-blasphemy laws that say you can't be prosecuted for saying something that someone else considers blasphemous (last prosecution was in 1697). This has been a complaint of muslims in the UK who feel that any criticism of Islam, drawing an image of Muhammad, etc is a hate-crime against their religion. So now the muslim First Minister has pushed through this law that could be used to criminalize any criticism of Islam.

This is part of the Left's efforts to make a persons feelings more important than objective reality.. According to this law there is no measure of whether a statement is hate speech. Everything depends on whether an individual FELT harmed. And as we have seen, some people have very thin skin and feel "harmed" by everything other people do.
