I can’t believe I never knew this in all the years I’ve had my canon. Thank you so much for such a straightforward and quick answer.
I'm happy it helped!!
I had my canon t7i for 5 years and I did not even know this! I always wonder how to change the focus points. Thank you so much for this video!💕
welcome
Thanks, I love a quick and to the point video.
Oh my gosh!! I could scream...thank you so much for making it so simple. I've had my Canon for months and it drives me insane that I couldn't move the focus point and just had to hope it would focus on what I wanted🤦♀️
Glad it helped!
Thank you! My photography course got canceled due to COVID and I had forgotten so THANKS! I’m sure the book would tell me but I prefer to watch a video on how it’s done. I have been trying to take photos of some figures/toys and it would focus on the wrong parts like I would wanna focus on the helmet or the sword etc but it wouldn’t. But thanks to you my good sir now I can go back and take some better photos!!
Good luck. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I have been trying to figure this out for EVEERRRR. Thank you so much
Happy to help!
Brilliant and simple tutorial!!! Appreciate your time and instruction. Will absolutely help me at work!
I'm glad it helped!
Thank you for this easy to follow explanation; I've been struggling with the auto-focus for a while but hopefully I'll be able to handle it from now on.
Glad it helped!
This is very informative, have been struggling with this for a while. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
Really helpful thanks!
Tks again..I forgot how to do it, found your video again and learned even more this time because I’m more experienced and want to play around with focus points. Cheers!
Glad it helped!
Absolutely helpful for the t7 as well thanks for the video
No problem. Glad it helped
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I’ve been having trouble with focusing on the correct spot and had no idea how to change it. Can’t wait now to go out and practice 😀
You're very welcome!
I Been using canon cameras for 8 years, mostly I put it live mode, and manual focus, because most of the time when there's smoke or low light condition auto focus failed me I can't risk the most important shots, hence then I used to manual focus, this method is very much intimidating, I'm going to give AF another chance.
Do it!
thanks for this video, now it finds the subject faster too, it doesn't just guess anymore, this will help me a lot now, thank you.
I'm glad it helped
Thank you
Brilliant, thank you
Thanks!
Thanks!
So do this have Mic input
Thank's !
You're welcome!
thank you so much my man!
You're very welcome
Thanks for this video. 😎👍
Welcome!
Thanks for this, I never liked trying to focus on a certian part of my subjects body but the camera chooses the tree in the backround. lol
Thank you! I'd forgotten how my T6 works. Now to get my 80D fixed.
The 80d is a great camera. I hope you can get it fixed.
Thanks for the video! How do you change focus point in live mode?
I don't think you can. I'll look into it though.
Hey thanks for this video! Just wondering what do you think is the best focal point to choose for shooting couples who are same distance away and you want both of them to be in focused.
Whichever focal point is in their faces!
i dont know if you still respond to this but, how do i change to a focal point big enough for the object i want? for example photographing zoomed things. Theres 4 things i need to focus on but they are all separate, is there a way i can focus the all the 4 things? like a larger square or rectangle like the standart one?
You need to make sure you focus on the most important part of the image. Then if you want to change how much of the image/subject is in focus you adjust your aperture to get a deeper depth of field. Do a search for deep depth of field to learn how it works.
Thanks for this advice (even if I’m not the one that asked the question; I’ve had the same issues)
How did you shoot the video looking through the optical viewfinder? I'd like to make something similar for my high school students, but I haven't figured out a good way to show them what's going on inside the camera. Thanks!
It's tricky but I hold my cell phone camera right up to the viewfinder. Then I zoom in a little bit. I'd love to 3d print something that will hold my cell phone in the exact right spot on the viewfinder. I make these videos for my high school students as well!
@@mattjohnsonphoto Very cool. A 3D printed phone mount would be brilliant!
When shooting in manual, do you change the focus point this way as well?
Yes you do.
Excellent thank you
When I photograph a bird on a solitary branch it guesses easily. But a chipmunk on a tree trunk in the forest confuses my 2000D.
Glad it helped
does this work for video as well?
Yes!!
What do I do my rebel t7 focus button won’t focus on anything and I’ve already tried resetting my settings for recording
Check to make sure the AF is turned on. There's a switch on your lens, make sure it's set to AF.
How do you use that for video recordingv
Same method!
I really hope you will respond to this... My red lights on my eos 250d stopped working.. Even though i reset everything, every setting ( i wasnt changing anything) it still doesnt work, when i shoot a photo it is where i put it, but i dont see the red light blinking in the viewfinder
On the lens AF is enabled, ONE SHOT AF also, i tried everything... 😢
Check to make sure your Auto Focus settings are set to One Shot, not AI Servo or AI Focus.
I always shoot in CA cause I can’t figure out M or Av. The images always turn out so dark, how do I fix that??
put it in Av and then set your ISO to auto.
Mine doesn’t do any of this. I have the Rebel T7 and it only zooms in for me. Then the scroll thing just changes my shutter speed. 😭
Same! This is the comment I was looking for
Is your AF turned on (look on the lens)? What do you have your mode dial set to?
yay, it also keeps the setting when you turn the camera off
Yep!
I know the points help, but is there a way to get rid of them?
Nope
I cannot figure out how to add focus points - can you give me a tip
You can't add focus points unfortunately.
Vedio recording time change focus 1300d
Should I leave my image quality in raw
Probably not. Do you have the software to edit raw files like capture one or lightroom? If not, shoot JPEG. There are a ton of videos on when to shoot in raw vs jpeg.
