    I can’t believe I never knew this in all the years I’ve had my canon. Thank you so much for such a straightforward and quick answer.

    Oh my gosh!! I could scream...thank you so much for making it so simple. I've had my Canon for months and it drives me insane that I couldn't move the focus point and just had to hope it would focus on what I wanted🤦‍♀️

    Thank you! My photography course got canceled due to COVID and I had forgotten so THANKS! I’m sure the book would tell me but I prefer to watch a video on how it’s done. I have been trying to take photos of some figures/toys and it would focus on the wrong parts like I would wanna focus on the helmet or the sword etc but it wouldn’t. But thanks to you my good sir now I can go back and take some better photos!!

    I Been using canon cameras for 8 years, mostly I put it live mode, and manual focus, because most of the time when there's smoke or low light condition auto focus failed me I can't risk the most important shots, hence then I used to manual focus, this method is very much intimidating, I'm going to give AF another chance.

    Hey thanks for this video! Just wondering what do you think is the best focal point to choose for shooting couples who are same distance away and you want both of them to be in focused.

    i dont know if you still respond to this but, how do i change to a focal point big enough for the object i want? for example photographing zoomed things. Theres 4 things i need to focus on but they are all separate, is there a way i can focus the all the 4 things? like a larger square or rectangle like the standart one?

    • @mattjohnsonphoto
      @mattjohnsonphoto  Рік тому +1

      You need to make sure you focus on the most important part of the image. Then if you want to change how much of the image/subject is in focus you adjust your aperture to get a deeper depth of field. Do a search for deep depth of field to learn how it works.

    How did you shoot the video looking through the optical viewfinder? I'd like to make something similar for my high school students, but I haven't figured out a good way to show them what's going on inside the camera. Thanks!

    • @mattjohnsonphoto
      @mattjohnsonphoto  4 роки тому +3

      It's tricky but I hold my cell phone camera right up to the viewfinder. Then I zoom in a little bit. I'd love to 3d print something that will hold my cell phone in the exact right spot on the viewfinder. I make these videos for my high school students as well!

    When I photograph a bird on a solitary branch it guesses easily. But a chipmunk on a tree trunk in the forest confuses my 2000D.

      Check to make sure the AF is turned on. There's a switch on your lens, make sure it's set to AF.

    I really hope you will respond to this... My red lights on my eos 250d stopped working.. Even though i reset everything, every setting ( i wasnt changing anything) it still doesnt work, when i shoot a photo it is where i put it, but i dont see the red light blinking in the viewfinder

    Should I leave my image quality in raw

    • @mattjohnsonphoto
      @mattjohnsonphoto  2 місяці тому

      Probably not. Do you have the software to edit raw files like capture one or lightroom? If not, shoot JPEG. There are a ton of videos on when to shoot in raw vs jpeg.
