The Dodge 330 is a mid-size car that was marketed by Dodge in 1962 only as a trim level above the base Dodge Dart and in 1963 and 1964 as the base trim of the mid-size lineup. It is one of the first unibody vehicles utilizing the B-Body and was available in 2-door or 4-door sedan body designs[1] with the 1962 models designed by Virgil Exner with the 1963 and 1964 models revised under Elwood Engel. The 330 name was discontinued in 1964 (1965 in Canada).
The car had a 119 in (3,000 mm) wheelbase and was 208.1 in (5,290 mm) long.[3] There was also a higher trimmed 440 and Polara available.[2]
The base engine was the 225 Slant-Six. The 318 2bbl, 361 2bbl, 383 2bbl, 383 4bbl, and 426 4bbl were optional.
As an intermediate trim level above the Dart, it came standard with a cigarette lighter, front foam cushions, and rear arm rests.[2]
The Dodge 330 Max Wedge was a 330 2 door sedan powered by the 426 Max Wedge with dual 4 Barrel Carburetors and 415 hp (309 kW). It was available in both years, mostly ordered as a super stocker for the race tracks.
For the 1965 model year, full-sized Dodges were built on the new C Body with a 121 in (3,073 mm) wheelbase, and the 330 and 440 were both replaced by the new, bigger Polara. The 880 now took the Polara's former place in the lineup. In Canada, however, the 330 was continued for one more year as the base model full-size Dodge (using the new-for-1965 body).
I had the Lindberg version of this kit. The slant six now lives in an AMT Dodge longbed pickup i built up as a landscaper's truck.
You do know that they're the exact same kit with different packaging, right?
This kit was a 90's lindberg release. Very nice kit...
Built this Dodge years ago and used the optional slant six with manual transmission in a shortbed stepside 75 Dodge pickup.
The indestructible 225, originally designed to be aluminum but only built that way for 2 years. When they switched to cast iron they did not change the molds. So the main bearing webbing and block mass are extra thick. The main bearings and cam bearings are bigger than the ones in a 440. The block has no flex to it at all. I’ve got one with a blower on it putting out over 400hp stock bottom end.
Wowsers I Didn't Know That About The Slant 6s 🤔🤔 Thanks For Sharing Your Knowledge Sir🤗 Gary.
Beautiful Clean Work Sir 🏆🏆 Thanks For Sharing n Have a Blessed Rest o The Wknd 🤗 Gary.
Cant go wrong with Tamiya. Beautiful smooth finish. I dont even prime my bodies with tamiya and testors lacquer and they turn out just fine
@@lancerevell5979I believe it's because Tamiya paint is lacquer and Rust-Oleum is enamel. Stick with Dupli-color automotive primer for your basic spray bomb paint jobs.
I had that happen to me. The lacquer is melting the enamel primer as it applied and drying
Sometimes whenever I want an old wore out paint job, I use the tamiya paint for lexan r/c car bodies. Gives a really good, convincing look.
I've been watching your content for quite some time and I gotta admit....you are the King Of The Rattlecan ...lol..I swear I have not seen a model car builder who paints with spray cans like you do and the results are AMAZING...This Dodge no joke is one of your best looking builds. The color choice for the body is perfect and suits the car real well...Excellent job buddy...👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video Chris, keep em coming,I'll keep watching.
I will likely be buying this kit just for the slant 6
I think it would be cool if you picked a random comment and that person could win the model, I also like when you make up a back story about the “guy who owns the vehicle” I used to tell my parents about the guy who owns the car I was building when I was a kid building models
It's a great kit i have 6 or them it's a reboxed part for part Lindberg kit it has been out for 10 maybe 12 years
Kit has been out for almost 25 years
Another winner from Round2 Chris, great build and presentation as always! This kit is originally a Lindberg kit.
Excellent result. Great color choices! The big lights remind me of the Chrysler Turbine
BTW Chris This kit is one of the Few to have A Frontier Bench Seat. Whivh May be needed to Replicate 1:1 cars someone might have owned
Nice build Chris! Love your color choices.
Mr steady hand at his best again, super great job as usual
A build so nice - I watched it twice. The Summer of '64 and my neighbor bought a new Dodge 2 door - white, red interior, HEMI powered. Talk about a thrill!!! Accelerating at full throttle you could watch the gas gauge go down. There was a section of finished, not yet opened Freeway where we used to "race". The Dodge beat all comers. That same Summer I got a ride in a Chrysler Turbine. Best "car" summer ever. Thanks again for the build!
Thank you!
I love watching your color choices.
very nice job chris the car looks great with that color scheme .your buddie john
Nice kit. Thx Chris.
Very nice dodge. .love the color. You made it look like a. Mean street machine. That red looks. beautiful on the wheels. Thanks for sharing . Great build .
Very nicely done. That Gunmetal over that red is awesome.
Nice build Chris, it’s great to see a mainstream kit available.
I see those Color Me Gone parts in that box
At the 4:12 point in your display of the parts, look closely at the parts frame sprue: AMT has included the basic part to create a bonus trailer in this kit ! Fellow modeler Mike Laliberte provided an article, "Treasure Trailer" in a 2000 article in Car Modeler Magazine with how-to plans to build the bonus trailer. The latter issues of the '64 Lindberg Dodge omitted this frame, but AMT has restored it in this kit! Like you said, "It's model building!"
Like you I remember reading that article!
Clean clean clean. You nailed it. With red interior and wheels, ANY grayscale shade from white to black rocks on these bad boys, your silver/pewter no exception. 👀
Another nice build!
Thank you! Cheers!
Kick ass build as always
Best model channel on u tube ❤
Fantastic mate👍👍
Tip for your open paint bottles. use your rattle can caps to put your paint bottles in to keep it from tipping over!
I love the early 60s Mopars, these are great kits, nice build dude.
Great build Chris love the color combination 👍👍
Great model, beautiful job
Beautiful clean classic
Thanks again for a nice build, and tips.
You do a amazing building model s
Nice!!! Very well done kit. Keep up the great work.
Nice looking kit! Nothing annoys me more than those who cry about flash on models!
Great build of a classic design. Well done HPI Guy! 🤙🏼
Really cool Chris! I’ve built past iterations of this kit, BUT seeing yours may have me thinking about getting another one… 🤔
✌🏽😎👍🏾
I built that as a Lindberg kit. Then I built the Lindberg Color Me Gone 330.
I THINK AMT released the Color Me Gone as a 3 in 1 a few years back when Round 2 acquired Lindberg.
Has racing tires, are the backs of the door panels plain with holes for handles and accesories, if so, this is old lindberg, and was meant to go racing! Backs of door panels can be painted aluminum to replicate racing interiors of that day, like the slant six option, for the duster or dart in your stash, TOO COOL!
Looks awesome as always an nice color combo Cris
One hell of nice job sir i am definitely digging this build bud . Ty for video gave me some good ideas for mine when i get one .
Glad I could help!
Great build! I left a like .keep it up man
Very nice looking build. You are truly the master of the silver Sharpie. Everything looks great. This appears to be a very nice kit. The decals look really nice and having two engines is just great. Thanks for sharing.
Great job Chris keep them coming going to have to get this kit
Another awesome build as usual Cris an thanks for your time invested on this build 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇲
Looks great, Chris! That sure looks like a 9 3/4" Dana 60 rear axle... an odd choice for a 383 car.
Nice job Chris. I always liked Dodge’s unusual design choices. More outrageous than Ford or Chevy would produce. Thanks for the review.
I like this..!! Nice looking kit.
I learned to drive in a 64 Polara, same style as this only 4 door. As soon as I saw this video I ordered the model!
J
Very nice kit. The build came out great. I enjoy your reviews and have always wondered how long it actually takes you to do one of these builds from start to finish. Have a great weekend!!
He has mentioned over and over and over that these builds take two days - or three days for the bigger units like big trucks. keep asking the same questions over and over......
Have a 1976 Dart Sport wit a slant 6 it’s a great engine
Great color👍
Nice work! I could see that being built as a police car too.
I looked up the Dodge 330 and it could be ordered with a 426 max wedge engine. That probably explains the wedge manifold.
I'm Sure This Was a Lindberg Kit " ORIGINALLY " They Had MANY Variations Of Them From Street Stock To Super Stock So Yes Alot Of Parts Were " SPREAD " Among The Kits.
This kit also builds into a great 2 dr police car with either engines
Beautiful job! I just received this kit and I like your ideas for the build!
They're rebranded Lindbergh kits same as the color me gone and ramchargers kit excellent detail I think it might be from the 90s maybe
Had a Dodge Dart with a slant 6, I called her Bessy. Easiest engine to work on of all time. Very reliable from my experience, as long as you worked on it. lol Naw JK. It was one of the best engines of all time if you ask me.
Beautiful build ! I love this kit! Always look forward to an HPI Guy mopar build 😊
I will buy kit just for the slant 6
Would make a great fire chief car with the correct add ons
Okay I'm working from my rapidly fading memory here, but I believe Chrysler back-in-the-day worked with a aftermarket manufacturer to offer a dealer installed dual Cross Ram manifold, if I'm remembering that right
Good work Chris! I can't wait for this one to be available! I want to build mine with the slant 6! This was originally a Lindberg kit! In fact, I remember you did a review of the Lindberg kit on the channel and it having a lot of flash lol!
Boy oh boy that sure is a swell release! I wonder though, maybe a bare-bones basic grocery getter would have regular, bias-ply tires?? I sure have enough recent AMT/Round 2 boxings to put a nice redline set on one! Thanks again!!
I'm curious as to your paint selection, do you have like a wall of paint to choose from? its a nice clean model kit for sure, i liked the detail, might have to pick one up for myself
heheh "it's called model building, not LEGO." Exactly.
And: “Do it your way.”
They should have added another six on the other side of the engine. Just for balance. And three 4 barrels.
😂🤣😂🤣 IT WOULD BE C😎😎😎 LLL HUH ❓❓🤔🤔🤔
Cris Out of curiosity about how long does it take you to build a kit from start to finish
For a car like this, about 8-9 hours total work with assembly to final details, not including letting paint dry.
That mystery intake is for a Ramcharger Hemi. I suspect this kit also had a Hemi engine in the past since it could be built as a Super Stock. That would also explain what looks like a Dana 60.
This is a well detailed kit of an interesting subject, and I like the fact there are two separate engines, in which case I would go for the slant six since it'd be something different in my collection of American cars. Is this the street version of the car Lindberg also did in two different racing versions many years ago?
The side of the box says bucket seats but it only has the front bench seat. Mine included a manual transmission but the car is automatic.
I just started building mine today. The body, packaged such that it's laying on it's side, was seriously warped. I was able to straighten it using hot water so no big deal. Not sure how this happens on a new release, hot storage or shipment maybe?
Rosie red mascot good girl
Watching you do the body side trim with the sharpie, how do you fix it if you mess up by getting marker where you don't want it?
What glue do you use with a brush?
Save the slant six for the dodge truck model from the 1960s! If they release it ever again? Or the 78 dodge truck?
What! No HEMI? LOL! Could also have a Max Wedge 426. Nice kit.
Did you ever build the creature from the black lagoon
Have you ever thought about getting into air brushing
what kind of glue do you use
Its the couler me gone car with a few less and extra parts
I had the Lindbergh version 😢
the v8 was a 426 wedge not a 383
In this kit it's a 383.
In other kits from these molds it's a 426.
The parts look just like the lindberg color me gone dodge.
What up with all the commercial.
Wish you'd clean that booth. 2" of over spray in it. 10 minutes of your time, a putty knife and a vacuum works wonders.
Eh it's fine . It's still sucking most of the bad stuff out of it lol
Go whine!
@@ronaldhuff635 I am 😂😂😂
Just think, every layer of paint is a model.. It's like a badge of honor! Lol
amt should be sued for the way their door panels and interiors DONT COME CLOSE to lining up- pitiful lack of quality. i just threw this one and the catalina 421 in the trash- never again
Hpiguys Workshop you are Jesus Christ the son of God Jesus Christ the Lord
NOT 🚫
What even is this crap
That's the Lindberg kit from a few years ago
