- Revell 68 Dodge Dart HEMI 2n1 unboxing
This is going to be a fun kit to build. Two complete engines, and lots of extras to choose from. The kit is molded crisply and clean as a tack. The chrome is very nicely done. Great decals that cover both cars nicely. You can go with a HEMI tire burner, or a stock 440 magnum. Eather way you go it will be a head turner.

I like red line tires. I believe they first appeared on the 1964 Pontiac GTO.
I did not know that. Thanks for sharing.
I like redlines if they're on Firestone Wide Ovals...I like Wide Ovals even w/o redlines 😉
I do love those Wide Ovals too.
I’m a new subscriber! I really like this kit. I look forward to seeing you put it together. Redline tires are so indicative of the time period and have a great look. 👍🏻
Thanks for subscribing. It sure is a great kit, and with the gold I'm using it will need those redline tires.
Nice unboxing, that's a GREAT kit!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much. It sure is.
This is an excellent kit. I've built three of these and have two more in my stash!
I'm glad you liked it. I'm excited to get into this one.
I am sooo looking forward to watching what you do with this kit. I agree on the Cragers. I hope you can get them to fit
Thank you very much. It looks like a fun kit. If those Cragers don't fit this they should fit the Roadster I'm going to build.
I have one of those kits also, I much prefer the Dart over the Chevy Nova for some reason. I would build mine stock, wish it had an inline 6 also. Looking forward to seeing your build with all the detail you use.
I like the later Nova's and Duster's, but this style Dart is my favorite.
For the Mopar Slant 6 engine, the AMT Dodge Deora pickup has one. So if you can find someone who's building one with a bigger engine you could swap or buy. Edit: OH. I just remembered seeing a 3d printed slant 6 ... let me think where was that? I recently bought some other stuff from him. Hmmm... I'm thinking it was Iceman.
In the 80s in HS, the Dart was a joke. Until one day, a guy showed up with one that was kicking everyone's butt in the 1/4 mile.
Those old Darts were fast as heck, but they rusted just as fast.
Can't wait to see what you do with it. Got one in my stash
Thanks, I'm hoping to get into it tomorrow morning.
I won't do flips over redline tires but I would put em on a 60s muscle car brother.
You know I am kind of leaning that way too.
@@grandpamarkshobbies cool brother
Made me laugh with cigarette comment. I’m a little older than you, I think, but yeah, I smoked from way too early until Jan. 1990. Desi & Lucy smoked on TV. Everyone in the movies smoked. Everybody did, it seemed, except my mom. Ha! It was cool and hard to quit, but I’m glad I did.
Unfortunately both my parents smoked so it was easy to grab a pack and go. No one ever noticed, so I started early. I smoked until my son was born, so it's been over 30 years now.
Lots of extras for the parts box. Looking forward to watching you build it.
If you have access to a flat bed scanner you can make your own license plate. I scanned my plate, dropped the jpg on a word doc, sized for the scale and printed on white card stock. Trimmed it, pasted it on with mod podge and cleared it with a satin varnish.
All my model cars have my plate ND 1966. Yes, I'm an Irish fan.
Thank you very much for watching. I've been able to find blank Ohio plates on line. Then I add the letters in Photoshop. After I print them I do exactly what you do with them. I think this one may be called MAGNUM Not sure just yet.
Another neat way to do it. MAGNUM sounds right.
Thanks. I didn't have access to a scanner or I'd have gone that rout too.
That is a awesome way to make plates! Thanks for the tip...
LLAP 🖖
looking forward to watching this series. I love the Dart i had a 72. I'm going to get this kit and try to make it as close. Hoping to get a lot of tips from you. I'm only a beginner though lol. Can i ask why you use La Awesome for?
You are going to love this kit. It goes together so nicely. Lots of parts, but they all fit. I had a blast making it, and I know you will too.
Why do you put the parts in La awesome
I use LA Awesome to strip chrome or strip paint when it goes bad. When you use it make sure to wash it well, and rinse well too. Then give it a good wipe down with isopropyl alcohol.
Hi been watching you for awhile now. I lit the 70 Barracuda with lights. I used the 5 mm 3 volt ones so I didn't have to use a resistor for headlamps. Had to wire them in parallel, because with wire in-between the lights it didn't work with series. Wanted to do it that way just to make lights not as bright. Working on a channel for builds so future builds can be shown. Then got the 3mm lights 3 volt to do future builds. So if that helps with your lights. Can't find option for photo or it would be included. Thanks David
Thank you very much. I just got some .015mm LEDs (smallest one's I've seen yet) They are pre wired and are 3volts output. I'm hoping to do turn signals and marker lights with them.
Oh dear. Lighted signal lamps up front. Contemplation of a lighted dome light. Cigarette butts in an ash tray. Please don't even think of lighting the butts, but how cool would that be ? These are classic symptoms of a modeling disease ( apologies to Dire Straits). This is a great kit. Have two sitting in my stash and will follow your build for inspiration. Well maybe not the butts. Thanks for posting.
LOL. The wife was laughing at me about putting cigarettes in the ash tray. I admit, I do have a problem. LOL
Redlines are good on the right car. On a 32 Coupe, not so much. On a 68 Dart, perfect.
I have to agree with you. I put them on one tire and had to take it off. It just didn't look right on a Dart.
I’m really glad you like the kit, but I knew you would. Those Cragers are really nice. I used them on a different model. When I built mine, I used the Hemi engine, but did not use the drag slicks.
You were very right. This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I've wanted to do a HEMI for a while, and I'm thinking that I can still use it and display it on the engine stand so it's even easier to see. LOL I will even put the headers on it.
I did mine as the Hemi Thunder version. It came out really nice with the orange paint and all the decals. It's one of my favorites.
I want to get another one and do just that. I really liked building that kit. It's nice to have a kit that fits as well as that one did, and that Hemi engine is done so well.
You mentioned a show in November, are you going to the IPMS show in Kirtland? If so I'll be going to that one as well, went last year for the first time and it was a really good show.
Looks like a great kit no matter how you build it!
I am going to the Kirkland show. I've been looking forward to going for a while now.
Thanks for watching, and now I'm even more excited to go.
Can't wait to see it finished mark, might have to get me self one, build it and put in on the shelf...Thanks for sharing 😊👍
Thank you very much. It sure looks like a very fun build. I'm going to start building it tomorrow.
see should sweet as a gts had four growing up three @ one time first was a 340 six pack vertical gate four speed blk on blk thanks for sharing scooter d😁
Thanks for watching and for the kind words. That must have been a blast to have a collection of such a cool car.
I think the silver with black stripes would be sharp.
Thank you. Now I'm on the fence with silver or maybe gold. Not sure yet.
That is one kit I have not yet built I will get one someday.
It sure has a lot of potential. I'm excited to get started on this one.
Those thin spoke wheels are the backs for the cragers
LOL. Now that makes all kinds of sense. Thank you. I was thinking that they looked way wrong for this kit.
Love the red lines, but they're a bitch to get on and set right. Even with setting solution. 🤬🤬😫
I've gotten them to work a few times, but I'm not a big fan of them.
Very nice dart
That should be a fun one to do, i can't wait to see it start to finish
Thank you very much. I was planning on doing the Eldorado, but the paint I ordered for it is not going to get here till August. Got to love overnight shipping. LOL So I decided to build this one and hope I can get the Caddy done before November. I really want to get that one sitting next to the Skyliner. That would be an epic display. I did start scraping the mold lines off the cady, and I think I'm going to paint everything Tamiya's Chrome Silver before I try and add any other colors. That should cover the black and make the metallic blue really pop.
HA I LOVE ALL YOUR FIGURES WHERE YOU GET THEM
PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I got them from Amazon. They are American Diorama figures.
That Xacto chisel blade is something I've been using a lot ever since the 1960s. In fact my original 1963 Xacto knife has one in it right now. Very useful for many applications in building model cars. Scraping as shown, slicing stuff off, putty knife, cutting rod, etc.
I LOVE that chisel blade. I am going to have to order a new one because this one has the edges starting to round out. But I do use it for a lot of things too. It is in my old school handle. I still have the big red handle too. That one is holding the big miter saw blade.
@@grandpamarkshobbieshi...I'm from Florence and I don't know English, in fact I use the translator. I wanted to ask you something. In some points of the instructions there are asterisks some have the legend next to them, others are only on the parts to be used. I would like to know what they mean about the latter. This is the 2nd muscle car I have built. The 1st was an AMT but I remained very disappointed, both by the joints and by the instructions. I am a modeler who ranges from the First World War to sci-fi miniatures passing through the West. If you answer me you would be doing me a great favor. Thank you in advance.😉👍🏿
First off, thank you very much for watching my videos. I feel for you about the AMT kit. Some are great, some not so much. Revell will usually give you better fit, but with less options.
The asterisk next to the parts shows where to do something. If you look near the top of the page there will be a circle with an asterisk next to it showing what you need to do, then the one near the part shows where to do it. Sometimes it's cut off little parts, sometimes it's for decals. It's Revell's way to show an extra step that needs to be done. I hope this helps, but if you have ANY questions please feel free to contact me. You can email me too if you want at grandpamarkshobbies@gmail.com
@@grandpamarkshobbiesI imagined that you would be exhaustive. I understood something like that but before making a minestrone of glue and plastic I wanted to be sure I bought a Revell kit because I know the quality. Thanks again!👍🏿😉
LOL. Good luck my friend. Enjoy the build. It is a fun kit.
Hi, Gary Here a New Subscriber For This Build Series Alone To Start With. I Look Forward To The Updates GBA 🤗 Gary.
First off, thanks for the subscribe Gary. I'll keep them coming every couple or three days.
👍👍
i bought this kit haven't had a chance to do it
It is one of the better kits out there. Not just because it's a Dart, but it fits well and looks great.
Red line on time all the time!
Thanks. I just learned a new way to do redlines, so I'll be using them more often.
If you don't mind me asking, what model show are you going to in November?
There is one just outside of Cleveland. Here's a link.

@@grandpamarkshobbies Thank you!
Wow great unboxing Mark. You are really gettin good at this. LOL I can't wait till you start this kit. TWO motors to detail! Hope everything is on video. Silver with black interior - nice. Guess it's going to be automatic. You didn't mention the consol. Is it going in the yellow pond? Man I have a nice pistol grip shifter if you were doing manual tranny. Now remember I have to enjoy living vicariously thru your vids cause of my burnt up EL. No word from my insurance yet either. Oh well it is what it is. Just have to wait. Thanks again for the terrific unboxing.
Oh yeah. My grandkids are living in Kentucky now so I'll only get to see them on the Christmas. My daughter and son in law just had to get out of upstate NY where I live. Another oh well...
Thank you very much. First off, I've already changed my mind about the color. LOL Now I'm going with Gold and tan. I have the hardest time choosing colors. LOL. I can't believe that your insurance hasn't gotten back with you yet. I would have figured that you would be getting an electrician by now. It's tough having the grandkids living so far away. Mine are on the other side of Ohio, and we only are able to hook up maybe three times a year. So my heart goes out for you there big time. It's a tough one to get use to.
@@grandpamarkshobbies Just watched your 32 unboxing. the new colors sound as nice as the old ones. Great choices Mark.
Yeah we already have the electrician lined up. He said it would take his crew 3 or 4 days. That seems real fast to me. Just have to wait on the insurance people to ok his estimate. Geez I want to go home!
Thanks Mark. Please forgive my blabbering. Must be nerves. Can't touch anything in the house till the insurance is ok'd.
I feel bad for you. That has to be nerve racking waiting for things to happen when there's nothing you can do. I will pray for the insurance company to get moving.
Nice kit. Good review Mark.
What town are you by in Ohio?
Thank you very much. I'm just outside of Youngstown.
@@grandpamarkshobbies cool. I'm down by lisbon
That is so cool. I use to go there to ride the bike trail. Love it there.
Very cool kit. Great extras as always it seems like in the Revell special edition kits. The special edition line has some fantastic kits. I like those thinner spoke wheels…but not for a dart. Something smaller or daintier like a VW beetle, or a Chevy II or maybe a Corvair. Lol. The Dart is too big and boxy for them to look right. I don’t care about red lines myself. Almost never use them. Actually don’t think I have at all yet. Lol. Thanks for the unboxing. Can’t wait to see the build
Thanks for watching, and cracking me up. VW Beetle. . . Classic.
@@grandpamarkshobbies 😂 Those wheels just seem really out of place for a dodge dart you know? Lol
They do. Way too thin for this big beast.
I just realized I have this exact same kit in my stash. I think I need to build a Mopar next. I love the red line tires and I am going to put the 440 in mine as well and build the 426 and have it displayed. Not sure what colour to paint it yet? But the bumble bee stripe and build it factory stock with wheel covers.
I've wanted this kit for a while now. The wife ended up pulling it out of my watch list and getting it for me. I am going to go gold with a tan interior. I think that will look great.
@grandpamarkshobbies I am going a nice light metallic blue with a two tone light metallic blue and white interior. I found one on Google that was an actual colour combo.
That is going to look fantastic!!!!! I've already switched my ideas and am going to go with Tamiya's Titanium Gold and a tan interior.
This kit is loaded with parts! Good stuff 🤙🏼
It sure is, I just jumped into it today, and started with the engines.
@@grandpamarkshobbies I've got a few of them, a friend gave me one that they had started as well, might be giving a new one away as a giveaway for the new channel, check it out if you have a chance! Great content on your channel, really enjoying it
I just subscribed to your channel. I'll be watching all your videos at lunch. Thanks for the heads up.
Looks like a great kit! I got the Mr Norm version of that kit. Never checked it out though. Thanks for sharing.
I've heard of the Mr Norm kit, but have never seen it.
I'm thinking the kit I got may not have all the options your kit has.
It seems like they put a lot of extras in the Special Edition kits.
cool kit nice
Thank you very much.
I had Red Line tires on my cars for years until you could not get them anymore back then.
Simple Green? Nice recovery! you been watching my video's before making this one... It's LA Totally Awesome, right? 😕
I had a 60 Dodge Seneca as my first car, Mon had a 63 Dodge Dart, Dad had 64 Dodge Wagon. I later had 68 Dart, 70 Monaco, 69 Charger, 73 Dodge Polara. I loved all the big Boats! Then there was my 2nd car a 64 Galaxy 4 door with a 390 and my 66 Fairlane GT/A 390 convertible. Now I'm driven a 2004 Buick Suv... 🤣
Wow a engine Video? Nice... 👍
I'm in Indiana and your in Ohio opposite ends of our states and we have 2 whole states in the middle of us... Lol Model show?
Can't wait for this build! Thanks GP

Wow!!! That's a whole sales department full of Mopar. Nice. I had a Polara Wagon. That beast went through faster than I could pump it in. I camped in the back a few times on fishing trips. Fun car to have.
@@grandpamarkshobbies I know right? Dad was a Dodge fan all the way. He did own a 68 F100 pickup.
Funny thing is, I went to automotive school and became a mechanic and worked at Ford shops, never a GM or Chrysler shop's in 40 years. I did work on them all, just at a Ford shops, mostly in Indy... Lol
I also worked at Clark Forklift(Tenn), Mack truck shop(Ind) and Caterpillar shop(Tenn). Hell I was even the parts guy sometimes... Hahahaha!

You've moved around about as much as I have. I've been in building mantenance most of my life. Started out as a teanager working at a motel, went to the Navy, then worked maintenance at a mall. Then shifted over to the University where I have been for 27 years now. It's nice, I see a light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not a train. LOL
@@grandpamarkshobbies I hope it's not a train... Hahahaha!!! I worked at the Carmel School System near Indy at the JR building as the 2nd shift super for 5 yr's. We liked to call our self's "High Speed Floor Engineer's"... Lol
I loved stripping the Terrazzo floors and laying down the new wax during summer break, it was daytime work and all 20 of us got to work together. I was the guy at 2am buffing the floor when the Vampires went on a rampage... Lol
LOL. I hope it isn't too. I'm like you, I loved to strip and wax the Terrazzo too. We'd to it twice a year, and everyone left us alone when we were doing it. There was only one time we ever had a problem. The wax we got must have frozen, and it pulled off the floor as soon as the floor scrubber went over it. We had to re-strip half the mall again, and that was about the slipperiest floor I've ever walked on. LOL. The good old days.
Cool!!
Thank you.
😎👍🏼✅
Thanks for watching.
Nice model going to have to add that to stash, thanks for sharing. Donnie
Thank you very much for watching Donnie. I'm excited to dig into this one.
The First chrome tree with Cragars. Those are the wheel backs for them. They're two piece Wheels.
Thank you very much. I don't know what I was thinking when I saw them. LOL. It was a long day. LOL Thanks for watching.
Nice 😅
Thank you very much.
