If you are new to this, *PLEASE* still watch the video. Give the man some time for helping so many of us out. I watch this one directly before I cut my son and husband's hair and they come out beautiful. I've created a monster, in that they want me to do this every 3 weeks now!
Finally! After watching countless videos on UA-cam, you’re technique in this particular video is what I exactly do to personally cut my own hair. Thanks for making easy-to-follow tutorials! 👍🏼
It takes practice. I've been cutting my hair for several years using a mirror in front of me while holding another one. The convenience of using a three-way mirror now is priceless.
Seriously thank you so much watching your videos I've been cutting my own hair at the sides and back by myself every week after the barber has cut my hair. I've saved so much money in between hair cuts doing the fade and keeping neat the back and sides which for me grow crazy fast. Your videos are no nonsense straight to the point and make everything really clear. Thanks again my friend you are a star teacher.
Purchased some Wahls Senior Clippers, and going to order a trimmer and Shaver soon and studying these videos, no need for a barber no more cutting and fading my hair getting better as time goes on 👌🏼💸💯
Thank you for the tutorial, I’ve been cutting my own hair this past year (2021) and due to the lockdowns in my region, I went and purchased of the equipment needed. I’ve gotten better progressively and continuing you to Improve which has saved me a good sum of money ☺️
I’ve been trying to cut my hair for years, I’ve watched UA-cam and NOBODY in the videos I’ve seen, have explained it as simply but effectively as you did man.. I can’t even explain it, it’s like they were showing us and didn’t really tell us the steps in between.. you explained you only opened the guard half way on the very first like we created, others explaining fades left a lot out.. thank you man!!!!! You made me confident enough to do this.. I’m all for keeping people in business but I’m MORE of a fan of being self sufficient.
Omggggg thank you! So simple and I have never cut hair. I have miserable boys at home bc of covid. Because of the simplicity of this I was able to give a decent fade and not completely f it up. Thank you!!!!!
The perfect & only haircut all guys need, its simple but looks clean at the end and its simple to do once you learn. Will be saving lots of money in the future now.
Fantastic video very simple and easy to understand I've searched all UA-cam this is by far the best video on how to do a fade is straightforward thankyou
I'm about to start cutting my son's hair , because anywhere around here don't seem to know what are they doing, I've learned a lot from your videos, very detailed, you make me feel confident, thanks
THANKS! I used this method to cut my own hair and it turned out great. I did a much lower line but it still worked. I was practicing using another guy's video so I guess that helped. But this was much easier to follow, and I had no problems getting the lines out. Best haircut yet.
You want to be a good barber use blades. Clips are a training wheel those are for chain places. You want to be good us blades. The haircut comes in so much cleaner.

Lewis Cook I am literally watching this videos to cut my hair and my sons hair, my best friend who is a barber is hating me already. He knows i can Pull it off and by doing so i save money lol.
kevin collon/lewis cook ...right before this whole virus stuff I decided to learn to cut my kids hair (3 boys) cuz the barbershop was getting expensive. I invested in some barber equipment and like you I started watching these barber videos. Now all of a sudden I’ve become a quarantine barber. I got family hitting me up for cuts, even made a little extra cash. I’m definitely motivated to get better at this, god bless these barbers for putting out these videos and sharing their knowledge.
High Skin Fade haircuts are always the best because it takes more than a few weeks for the hair to grow back. But for a haircut without a fade. That cut does not last long.
@Valeri Marinov yup same thing happen To me. Honestly I think the only right way to do touch up from 2-4 is clipper over comb. I've started to cut my own hair and to do clipper over comb on yourself is really difficult. Best to have someone else do it. Unless you got shorter on the top.
Make sure to use the corner of the blade. The process is good but found a better process that works for me and started cutting others hair. 1)make your initial line (starting lowest point up) 2)next guide line open taper, then begin closing -use corner of blade 3)half gaurd make next guide line open taper and then close it. Remember you can go a step back to remove line. 4)#1 guard open and make next guid line and begin closing. 5)can use 1 1/2 or #2 for clean up up top. Always begin with open taper and eventually close it completely. Good luck. Works for me. Started doing bald fades
Great Videos man, they have really helped me out. I started fading my own hair and that of my two boys due to the fact that it was getting super expensive taking my boys and I to the barber every two weeks. I am getting better at fading, but still having a difficult line getting rid of some lines, do you have any additional suggestion that you want to share. All of my haircuts are medium balled fades,.
Glad to hear that! Thanks for sharing. You can try putting the levers in the middle setting (neither opened nor closed). That'll help you get rid of some of your lines
Barbers don't hate this dude, we don't think this is a bad thing. This guy is awesome! Barbers who hate him do so because they are shitty barbers. People can cut their own hair and do it well, (my wife cut my hair for years before I went to Barber school) and I gave Zoom tutorials to my clients , their wives and families to help out (for free) during these lock downs. If a standard hair cut was the only reason to go to the barbershop we'd all be outta work. The shop is so much more than a hair cut. So much more...Also It's about getting it right every time and having a professional handy and able to pull it off when ya want something different. Please continue to show people this !!! To those who do it well... Great Job! Your family needs this now. To those who 'eff-it-up' ... Don't worry I know a Barber who can fix it! Its just hair....

Hi dude killed it again :) Any tips for the top of the head using scissors - I always end up cutting my own short at the back and long at the front? Thanks.
hi dude i use my clippers on other people and on my self and have recently noticed where i use them i get small red spots afterwards and they don't clear up. Any ideas if it could be the clippers? thanks.
jack smith, that’s not a good sign. It could be one of two things: 1) either the clippers are too sharp and you’re cutting your clients. The solution would be to press more gently parallel to their skin without digging into their scalps. 2) or is could be that your clippers are causing some kind of rash, fungus, or skin infection. In this case, you would need to disinfect the clippers very well. Also make sure that the bottom blade doesn’t pass the top blade. That would cut your client since it would be very sharp. My video on zero gapping clippers would help with that. Hope this helps!
Bro I watched like 10 fade videos on UA-cam, and this is by far the simplest and most effective one.
I'm exact same. so many other videos has alot more steps for no reason
Bro other people are too complicated
1. zero closed (set first guide)
2. guard 1 close (slightly higher from 1st guideline)
3. 2 guard fade to longest hair
4. can use 3 or 4 guard
5. 1 clip open lever setting
6. no guard open position (a quarter of an inch)
7. no guard midway bottom line (hit with the corner of clipper blade )
8. zero (outliner to the zero with a clipper)
*use the corner to get rid of the line**

A trick I learned is go to trusted barber for fade. Once he sets your lines...you can simple follow his lines as you start doing your own clean ups.
Tip: if you are using a handheld mirror to guide through the back as you cut yourself, put your back to your restroom mirror as you use the guide mirror. You get a a much larger view. Took me a second to get that.

jack smith, that’s not a good sign.
