  • Today I want to elaborate for a few minutes about TCA (& Jessners) peels on those with medium (olive +) to darker skin types. If you have a more melanin-rich skin tone, and are wondering if TCA is for you, relax … yes it is. All skin types can safely use TCA with proper skin conditioning.
    You are here because you are wanting to try a TCA peel. So, first let’s figure out what your Fitzpatrick skin type is.
    The Fitzpatrick Skin typing is a detailed classification that gives indications as to how a certain skin type will react to various treatment conditions.
    Skin color, unaltered eye and hair color, ethnic origins, and response to UV light are all examined. Based on these findings, we end up with six different Fitzpatrick types that begin with very fair skin and graduate to very dark skin.
    What we have found is that no matter how much melanin is in the skin, if you fall into types 4, 5 or 6, you will need special skin conditioning when you are looking to perform chemical peels to help avoid complications.
    To simplify this, if your heritage is Mediterranean, Asian, Latino, Indian, Native American, African or any range that is not very light, you will need to pretreat your skin.

    "melanin rich skin tone" I absolutely love how respectful she is in her description of our skin tone. I went to a dermatologist office where the patient care specialist called my skin black and I was totally offended and I just figured she didn't know any better. Thank you for being sensitive to your customers who grace your business.

    I live in a small town and a dermatologist told me he wouldn’t give me a peel for my malesma because I am latina. He said I would end up with more hyperpigmentation and make things worse and those peels only worked on light skin. Didn’t offer any solutions outside of hydroquinone which sadly has not worked for me 😢
    So excited to try this!!

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  Місяць тому +1

      Those with fitzpatrick 4-6 have a higher chance of getting PIH and therefore have to 1. Prep with a melanin inhibitor longer (4 weeks) 2. Choose a milder acid. 3. Chose a lower percentage. Then work up from there as your skin tolerates.

      We do offer a pigmentation kit if you are opting to do lighter weekly peels. See below link
      www.platinumskincare.com/pigmentation-kit/
      For darker skin types......Fade Bright is a must. Pre treat with your skin 1-2 x per day daily with Fade Bright for 2-3 weeks prior to applying TCA or Jessner. You will also want a nice exfoliating cleanser to use to prepare the skin as well. I recommend or Revitalizing Glycolic Cleanser. Post peel you will need Emu or Healing Oil. I also recommend Luminosity post peel. Use the Luminosity 1x per day for 3-5 days until your skin starts to peel or flake.

      Benzoyl peroxide is just liquid oxygen. Peroxide = oxygen. Benzoyl pushes it deep into the pores so the oxygen can reach the P-acnes bacteria and destroy it. It can potentially be drying... but that will go away when you stop usage. I would concentrate on hydrating the skin. AB Cleanser + Vitamin B Complex + Nano Hyaluronic. This will exfoliate, clean out pores, help reduce acne, and deeply hydrate the skin.

    • @PlatinumSkinCare

      Hello. No. You can never "sneak in" a peel during your downtime/waiting time to do your next tca peel.
      RULE - Always follow the recommendations of the LAST peel you applied.
      If the last peel you applied was a TCA *with a 4 week wait = then you wait 4 weeks before applying ANY peels.
      If the last peel you applied was an AHA (glycolic/mandelic...) with a 1 week wait = then you wait 1 week before applying ANY peels.

      Sure. The copper products are excellent for tissue regeneration. This is most helpful if you are dealing with scarring or aging issues. They can be applied 1 time per day. The GHK products are first generation and you need to NOT apply them with acids or vitamin C. The latter, second generation (CP Serum,. Super CP Serum and SuperCop 2x) can be applied with any acid products without risk to the product.

      We have updated our packaging over the years. If a video is a few years old .. the look may have changed. *Retinol Molecular Serum has been UPDATED to add in the Retinaldehyde and Granactive. Is is now called Fusion A.
      Each item has its own instructions. What are you wanting to know exactly? Fade Bright can be used 2x per day to help lighten pigmentation and to help prep for peels if you have darker skin. This IS on the label and box of the FB product.
      Fusion A is an evening product. Start with the .15 at about 3x per week. Then add on days as your skin acclimates.
      TCA is 1x per month. TCA demo video here: www.platinumskincare.com/tca-peel-application-detailed-faq-aftercare/

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  2 роки тому

      Hello. I would first be using a melanin inhibitor (like our Fade Bright0 with alpha arbutin or hydroquinone every day 1-2x. Also an exfoliating serum or cream to help turn that skin over gently. Triple Treat 25% Body Lotion can help with that. .. After a few weeks of prep - if you want to do a peel, the Jessners is highly recommended for hyperpigmentation on the face and body. That can be done 1x a month *as the skin takes about 10-14 days to start drying and flaking. ... then it will go on another couple of weeks. You may do another peel after the 30 day mark. Use your melanin inhibitors during the downtime.

      Hello. 1. SPF 50+ every single day ... and REapply. 2. Fade Bright or another melanin inhibitor every day to help "turn down" the melanin production in the skin. 3. Peels can be used.. but gentler is usually better on darker skin tones. I would suggest something like Lactic 50 which could be done 1x every 2 weeks... or jessners which can be done 1x a month and is layerable.

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  5 років тому

      Shaela Ismail you have a medium skin tone so I suggest pretreating with Fade Bright for at least 2 weeks. Then I suggest the 30% - but keep in mind that can darken for awhile (weeks on some people - which is why the pretreating is so necessary and after the peel). The 20% is another option that you could apply multiple layers to get deeper. It will be less likely to darken so much.

      That depends on what kind of "scar" you are referring to. Is this just a mark - or do you have pitted ice-pick scarring? A mark can be dealt with by using retinoids daily and any of the milder peels. I would suggest Mandelic 40. If you have pitted scars, then the TCA CROSS is the way to go. PRe-treat with a melanin inhibitor such as our FAde Bright 2x per day for 2 weeks minimum and then use the TCA 20 or 30 ONLY inside the scar itself. See this video to see what that will look like: www.platinumskincare.com/ethnic-skin-tca-cross-face-peel-eye-peel/

    I'm confused. you're saying to prep by pre-fading the skin before a chemical peel that is supposed to do that very thing?

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  5 років тому

      For the very best results you definitely want to remove some of the dead skin build-up before applying a peel. Products like acids and retinoids will help to clear out the pores, remove excess layers of skin, .... and in the case of retinol... it will make your skin heal more quickly after you do your TCA peel.
      If you have medium - dark skin you MUST pretreat with a melanin inhibitor to help prevent PIH. Preparation is mandatory for a good outcome. Then, yes you will do a series of peels (6-8 in a row) before you reach your end point.

    • @PlatinumSkinCare

    What about the Mandelic Acid for body peels on Fitzpatrick VI skin? I know that TCA is stronger but I was curious about using the 40% mandelic on the quads, knees, elbows, and ankles. How does it compare to the 20% TCA?

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  2 роки тому

      Hello. Milder peels can certainly be used ... but those only give dryness on the face - which is many many times thinner. So, on the body it will be "not as usefull" as a stronger percentage or acid. If you want to be safest, opt for the TCA 13 and apply 3+ layers. **Remember too that the body takes 3-4 weeks to finish flaking. So it will be 10+ days before you see ANY drying at all. All perfectly normal.

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  5 років тому

      Yes you sure can. We always suggest the melanin inhibitor for at least 2-3 weeks prior to applying and acids. This will also help to lighten any discolorations you have on your skin now. Most people use this daily to keep their skin clear and bright. For the peel, it will depend on if you want to deal with flaking or not. If you are OK with that, then the TCA 20% would be a good option at about 1-2 layers for your first time. *Remember the body will take up to 1 month to flake - so don't panic like nothing happened. It is a slower process than your facial skin. See this video for instructions on body peeling: ua-cam.com/video/tx-UkmxvOgI/v-deo.html&lc=

      Let's remember that it isn't just the Layers you are applying - but how much solution is on the pad. We want it WET ... just not dripping wet. Too little solution will be a lighter peel. Too heavy will be a stronger peel. Wet the pad, fold it and give a little squeeze and shake. You are ready to apply. You can always ALTERNATE peels. Don't try to squeeze them in when you are in the downtime for TCA though. *RULE* Always follow the recommendations of the LAST peel you applied. If you have to wait 1 week ... ok. If you have to wait 4... then you wait.

Still much better than the dark skin standing out, I applied moisturizer and after some time hudroquinone to maintain the result however after few weeks the area turned much darker than it was before peeling. It stands out even more and looks like I got bruised. Can you please suggest me peels and process to help with my situation long term. I need to treat knees and knuckles . Hello. You do not want to use acids while you are peeling - so skip the toner. For the MOST part you don't need to apply any "treatments" while you are peeling, or are getting ready to peel - as that skin is thicker and nothing is going to penetrate before that comes off. So, once everything is all peeled... then go ahead and use your daily treatments.

      After watching this video - I hope you are leaning more towards a 13 or 20 instead. Also, do Not forget to prep for 4 weeks with a melanin inhibitor such as our Fade Bright or Hydroquinone. *I also responded to your same question on the other video.

    Is this is used for acne scars.... Can I used it...

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  2 роки тому

      Yes, indeed. You will use a higher strength inside a depressed scar (cross method) or just apply extra layers on a scar. If you have ethnic skin then make sure to prep the skin with melanin inhibitors to help prevent PIH with stronger acids. I would also suggest using the Super Cop 2x on the scar every evening. www.platinumskincare.com/copper-super-cop-2x/

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  4 роки тому

      Take a look at this video for an idea on how this will work on ethnic skin tones: www.platinumskincare.com/ethnic-skin-tca-cross-face-peel-eye-peel/
      We recommend pre-treating with a melanin inhibitor for at least 2 weeks and then choosing *preferably the TCA 20 for the cross. The lower percentages are safer and will be less likely to cause PIH after a peel. SPF 50 mandatory as well.

    Can I please get some Information on TCA 7%. It is there in the manual but the video mentioned TCA 13% for darker skin. I’m Asian Indian with a yellow brown skin coloration but looking to use it in dark chocolate brown skin patches on inner thighs.

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  3 роки тому

      Hello. Certainly. TCA 7% is extremely mild. We use several layers of this percentage on the Eye lids and surrounding skin. On the body you most likely won't see any flaking... or a very small bit of dryness. So if you are really worried... this could be a good place to start. *Always prep with a melanin inhibitor like our Fade Bright or hydroquinone to help prevent PIH. Another option is a Lactic 50 peel or just using a daily acid lotion like our Triple Treat 25% Acid Lotion along with Fade Bright. There are many options for you.

    Hi, I have (I would say) heavy discoloration around my back and chest after acne breakout (I think the biggest contributor to that is because I picked them). I have Southeast Asian tanned skin and very prone to acne. I have several questions:
    1. I read that Jessner is more effective in drying out the acnes, some reviews mentioned 2-3 days after applying 1 coat of Jessner, the acne dried out. Would you recommend me to do Jessner to fasten the drying of the pimples, and if they do, after 3-5 days, can I go right ahead with TCA?
    2. As I have done TCA10% on my back and chest and it doesn't do anything, would you recommend me to jump to 20 or 30%?
    3. I regularly use Palmer Skin Therapy Oil, do you think this can act as Melanin Inhibitor and soothing?
    4. What kind of peeling would you recommend for discoloration around the underarm and the thigh folds near the genitals?
    Thanks a lot!

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  2 роки тому

      Hello. Firstly you will only do ONE peel a month. If you do jessners today.. you must do TCA immediately after that and finish in one setting. This is commonly layered, so no worries. Follow this video for ideas: www.platinumskincare.com/jessners-tca-advanced-peeling/ and this video as well: www.platinumskincare.com/are-you-ready-for-advanced-peeling-methods/
      TCA gets its strength in LAYERS and VOLUME of solution. You do not want to jump up in percentage unless you are applying 5 layers and want more. Please try to understand layering better before moving forward. This video speaks specifically on TCA.. but jessners is applied the same way. Watch here: www.platinumskincare.com/understanding-tca/
      I cannot comment on other products. If there is alpha arbutin or hydroquinone it is a melanin inhibitor.
      For intimate areas be more gentle. Lactic 50 is a great option and Fade Bright daily.

      Hello. Yes there will - unfortunately... as it is an option for absolutely anyone. By prepping your skin though you are dramatically reducing your chances...and if you get any it will definitely be much milder. We suggest at least 2 weeks with more being more beneficial. SPF 50 as well.

      With your natural ethnic skin tone you really need to prep with a melanin inhibitor. Our Fade Bright 2x per day or a hydroquinone product and SPF 50 whenever you leave the house. You could use the 25% in the scars, but I would cut that in 1/2 when applying to the rest of your face.

      Peels can lighten EXCESS pigmentation on the skin from the sun. They won't make your skin lighter than your natural color though. Use this to even and brighten the skin.

    • @PlatinumSkinCare
      @PlatinumSkinCare  3 роки тому

      @@Queen-xv4vp Hello. As I stated peels can help remove excess pigmentation - but they can't make your skin lighter than your natural coloring. Look at an area that isn't exposed to the sun such as the breast or buttocks. That is your normal skin coloring without sun damages. That will be attainable. Making your skin lighter than that will not. I do know of people using bleaching treatments - but I would exercise EXTREME caution.
      Remember the grass is always greener on the other side. Those with light skin want it darker an visa versa. Try to work with what you have and use makeup as a way to give that lighter (brighter) feel in the center of your face. You can do this with highlighting tricks. Your natural color can be the lowlighted area and the makeup can give that touch of lightness that you desire. There are so many makeup tutorials out here on UA-cam. Check them out. I just did some quick searching and found this lovely woman she is teaching highlighting and contouring. ua-cam.com/video/hy5S3etp-2Q/v-deo.html
