Omg yessss! I watched this to confirm the fact that my cousin is extremely jealous of me & it bothers me bc I hate the copycat aspect! It’s frustrating when you’re creative & they’re not & they literally follow right on your tail with everything. It can be super annoying😒

I had a 'friend' like this. Which was crazy, because she was far more pretty and more accomplished than me. But, if I ever had some form of light in looks or accomplishment, she hated it. She wanted/wants me as low down as possible. It took me a long time to realise this, but she isn't my friend anymore.

All my friends were like this. To be honest, they weren‘t really pretty, me neither st the beginning. But after losing weight and starting to dress more feminine, they startet to be extremly jealous at me. I had to quit because they even tried to ruin my relationship in the end.

I used to be friends with people who did ALL of these things. It's interesting to find out that jealously was at the root of their poor behaviour. My life improved SO much when I cut those people out!

Exactly. There’s this girl at my school and I don’t know why but she’s super mean to me. She constantly talks behind my back and says stuff about me. When I never even have conversations with her or talk about her. I’m a very shy person so I wonder where this came from. I disagree. They may not be mean outwardly, but jealousy is *always* a cancer on a relationship. It causes inner resentment and a lack of healthy boundaries no matter how well intentioned the jealous person is. I have been both the jealous one and the person someone is jealous of. In both cases the situation was toxic.

Emily Hart Forcing yourself to be nice when you don’t feel like being nice isn’t a bad thing, it’s being a good person when you don’t feel like it. I think what that person means is that someone can feel jealous without acting on it because they genuinely like their friend and don’t want to hurt them. You can have insecurities and inner wounds that can spur jealousy and choose to not take it out on others. That’s what I think they meant and I believe it too. :)
There are some girls in my class that I never talked to the whole year. Still, I liked them a lot, and admired their beauty and accomplishments. Well, I recently found out that they dislike me and talk bad things about me for hanging out with a girl they hate (My childhood best friend who I was reunited to after years of separation btw). I am young, and this is the first time I go through something as absurd, highschool-drama level of stupidity.
Definitely watch out for those who can’t seem to give any genuine compliments, but are always quick to embarrass you or make you feel insecure. The undermining and “back-handed compliments” couldn’t be more true. They want to appear “supportive” but really just want to belittle you and again, make you feel insecure.
i dealt with a girl like this, she ALWAYS copied what i like, was ALWAYS attached to me, ALWAYS competing with me over the smallest things and i ended up hating her bc it annoyed me alot. I started distancing myself from her, (but i still keep her around bc i felt bad that she was sheltered and had no one..) she still copies all my interests so i never share anything with her. ._.

So, I have a friend that's been with me since childhood, and only now I'm starting to notice how jealous she is of me. It got to the point where she gossiped about me to my own boyfriend, and tried to paint me as a bad and selfish person. At first I thought I was exaggerating, but it turned out that she really is toxic and jealous. This video was entirely relatable, and it really breaks my heart.

I see this now in one of my so called fiends i always felt she was fake with me but then spoke to my hubby and he said maybe I'm being a "bit harsh" freling like that but i felt it! She clung onto me and always after my attention, the condtant 'compliments (fake for sure) it was over the top, she had no personal boundaries for herself, nor confidence she was leeching onto me for it. Secretly sizing me up! now she's trying to be someone different with me & over rum me now she's got to where she wants to be. I feel used she was fake I knew it, I should've followed my gut!.
I went to a party (I'm 13) and I was wearing makeup. Throughout the whole night this one "friend" would stare at me but I thought shes looking at my face/ makeup. As the night was drawing to an end all the girls were sitting in a circle talking, when my friend shouts out so everybody can hear "Bracefaceshellz you look like a catfish, usually you look so blick" (Blick is an insult to use against darkskins) I was confused to why she was calling me blick when she was several shades darker than me. I'm not a confrontational problem so I just smiled. This was a bashment party (Caribbean dancing). After I found out she was telling everybody how terrible my whining was and would make snide comments whenever I did, despite the fact I was being complimented about it. We're not friends anymore 🥴
People who publicly display their jealousy are a lot better than people who do it passively. Granted, both are bad, however the first one is so easy to spot before too much damage is done. I had a friend for 5 years until I decided to end the friendship because of jealousy, envy, manipulation, and literal emotional blackmail. It was so passive aggressive that only after 2 years of ending the friendship did the real truth hit me. Glad we’re rid of these kind of people, hope you found better friends

Jealous people always make me feel uncomfortable, there's a difference between admiring someone's accomplishments and being inspired by them and being jealous. Jealousy is the feeling that you wish you had what they had or that they didn't have what they have because you don't have it, there's a cynical feeling in it and I always worry about showing the happiness in my life to people who are jealous. Usually people who focus on jealousy are only pleased when those around them are doing worse that them, terrible mindset to have and not the kind of person people would want to be friends with. I've struggled a lot through life, like we all have, and I can't trust someone who only sees what I have and not how much I've struggled to get there or all the problems I have in my life which mean that I somewhat deserve that little bit of happiness in a different aspect of my life. Constantly looking to what other people have and not to what you have is a really negative mindset, we all have problems and we all have good things as well, no one's life is better than anyone else's, our life is the best for US because we're the only ones who have lived it and are accustomed to it. So please don't waste your time complaining about other people's 'happy' lives, go out their and make your own. I have no sympathy for those who say their lives are terrible and who spend time being jealous of others instead of investing time and energy into their own lives.

This is terrifying. I had known a person like this for 8 years. This makes everything clear to me. Thankfully this person is no longer involved in my life. I only found out in college that she was talking behind my back and trying to turn my friends against me. I’m glad the friends I had believed me over her. I was lucky.
Envy is so sneaky and so much more pervasive than people say, because it lives in the shadows. Many people, myself included, feel ashamed of envy and jealousy. But if you’ve ever been in a friend group or relationship where it’s prominent you’ll know how bad it can get. I had a friendship where envy basically broke it. I got so fed up with the competitive antics, hot and cold behaviour, subtle cut downs and imitation of my life that I just said goodbye and didn’t look back 👋
Also anger or hostility that seems to come out of nowhere. Like they're upset about a fight you don't remember having and you wonder what you might've done to upset them? That's how they actually feel about you and the mask they normally wear is slipping.

I feel like there's another important perspective of jealousy too: A friend who suddenly slowly begins to exit out of your life, because they're jealous. I've done this once, because the jealousy showed me how slowly my own life was going, so I couldn't quite bear to communicate with one of my friends anymore. I plan to get better to where I can be close to them again, and to monitor my jealousy, cause I genuinely love them. But I think that's a type of jealousy that can quietly destroy relationships. Someone who is too hurt by their own jealous feelings or who doesn't want to project their jealousy onto their friend, and slowly slips away into the distance. Thank you so much for this video! My ex best friend would do some of these things. When we were younger it wasn't as bad, but as we got older she got progressively worse. First it was copying me and eventually became trying to compete with me. She'd try to one-up me when it came to my hobbies, like trying to outdo my drawings or when playing sports. It was little petty things like this at first, but once we got to high school she got worse. It seemed like she just plain out didn't like me anymore. By this time we kind of drifted apart, but we still remained friends because we had some mutual friends. She became less genuine and felt two-faced. She was nice to my face, but I could tell she was gossiping about me behind my back. Whenever she started hanging out with the people I did, I started being treated differently, as if they knew something about me that I didn't. This happened EVERY time I made new friend groups. She'd start hanging out with us and eventually I'd have to make a new one. She was like a parasite lol funny how she could never keep friends of her own though. I finally cut her off and it felt so satisfying! I felt so much happier now that I don't have to deal with her toxic behavior anymore!
I feel like some of the points made arent as awful as they make it seem? 1. Competition isn't necessarily a bad thing. In lots of cases, it can be friendly and extremely motivating for both sides. Tension is natural in this setting. I dont think that just because you want to better yourself always means that youre jealous. I dont think its always so personal. 2. Although fake compliments arent the most desired, i feel like lots of us do that on a daily basis. Again, nothing personal, its just some such as myself, would rather avoid the trouble of possibly kicking someone down by telling them what i actually think? Especially if im not that close with them 3. I dont think being attached to someone is a crime. I guess i can see overly-attached as a potential for issues, but idk. I dont see how that directly correlates to jealousy. Or maybe im just a jealous person. Idk. But I dont feel negatively, nor aim for others to feel negatively through the points i mentioned above
Your only competition is who you were yesterday, everyone’s definition of success is different, so imagine competing with someone who doesn’t know they’re in a competition to begin with. Fake compliments are toxic, but i agree with being attached isn’t always a negative, although we must establish real trust first
This helped me realize that one of my "friends" is actually not my friend at all. She showed all of them especially the clingy thing. :( I do not know how to end my friendship with her! I tried once because of something but then she sort of forced me. :(
Sometimes you just have to be the "bad guy" and cut it off. I went through something similar with one of my old friends. She would constantly text me and want my attention, copy me and get upset if I didn't text her back within a couple of days. On top of it all she admitted to me that she liked me and pushed gifts on me constantly. I couldn't keep up with her constantly pushing her way into my life and as much as I believe that she is a good person at heart, I just couldn't find space to breath with her around. I had to walk away and that's what I did. I told her that I needed to walk away as firmly and politely as I could without backing down and giving in to her emotions. I'm not going to lie it was hard and it hurt, but putting your foot down and walking away will be the best thing you could ever do for yourself. I'm much happier and am ready to move forward with my life and I hope anyone else reading this will be ready too. All the best for anyone who is going through this now. And if anyone has anymore experience or advice to add please feel free to share your personal experience and how you dealt with it because everyone is different and no two situations are the same.

I know it is a difficult situation. I have been there. Cutting them off sounds extreme but it is the only way. I would recommend you tho to prepare others about their possible reactions. Like, that they might say nasty things that are false or that you need a break. So when your friend tries to make a counterattack, the people around you won’t pay them much attention. It is hard but it is totally worth it! You will feel so much better
When i see my friends seem to be like that, i just put a huge smile on my face and show em that they are far better than me I show em that all that matters is the love i got for them and nothing more.

In addition to jealousy, #3 are characteristics of a narcissist. Narcissists spin malicious gossip and behavior as concern or trying to befriend the victim. They don't want to be exposed for who they really are.
I mean, as someone who deals with jealousy like it's a disease I cant get rid of, i don't really do the whole talk behind their back and always be with them. I usually beat myself up about it and suffer in the distance. But yeah I heavily did the whole copycat thing and it sucks ass.
It really helps when someone is finally able to GENUINELY accept the failure and imperfection of their lives and make it a point to be critical of their own way before someone else's. I literally do not ever look at someone with malicious envy or unperceptive hatred. I love to see my people succeeding in life and i SINCERELY love it when my close friends find themselves making progress in areas of life they never even thought possible. I wouldn't be able to be at peace if it was the other way around tho
I can relate to the copycat part, jealous people always try to copy you and somehow be like you, I had a lot of people like that in my life but I thought I was wrong and that thinking someone might be jealous of you is an act born out of arrogance and over self-confidence, but after watching this video I realized that I was right and I still have some of these people in my life lol
Even though we really love and support each other, between my best friend and I, there is an always existing level of jealousy. She seems to feel like I'm better at things than she is, I feel like her body is way better than mine. We are similar, we know that we're jealous of some people, but we try not to be. We both know that jealousy ruins some things and friendships, so we try to push it back and act like we're not jealous. That of course doesn't mean that we constantly do the things listed in this video, but I just notice that at many points throughout the days and weeks and months, she puts herself in front of me, trying to be in the spotlight as much as possible. But that's okay, it's quite annoying sometimes, but I can live with it since everybody has their flaws. I don't blame her, I understand what all of that is about and that she's just insecure. Not saying she's not good at the things she does, but she wasn't born with a great natural talent. (Many people don't have such a talent, which is totally fine, but those many people believe that everybody except them has that talent) She may not have that, but she works hard to achieve her goals and that's the big point, not any great talent. We both don't mind that little jealousy within our friendship, because it still works great and we're a good team! I love her and she loves me, it works out and we support each other, that's what counts! :)

Jealousy is not something I understand too well, at least not when it comes from other people at me, like they get pissed off at me for seemingly no reason and im like "What the heck did I do wtf? Whats this persons problem!?"
Watching this makes me think of how I acted toward my older brother. He was always better than me at art and can draw something from memory. Whenever he drew something I would undermine his success and would say I can draw just as good, then we would have art competitions. I was just a kid but I feel bad that I discouraged him from art just because I was jealous and angry that my family said he was a better artist than I was.
But, if it's a game, to compete with your friends? I mean, I always have at least a friend who's also a kind of "rival" I don't think that it's particularly "toxic", because this competition makes me want to work even harder, and the same goes for him, so it's not a bad thing At least not when both are competing against each other!
if you are reading this, whoever you are, if somebody is trying to dirty your name it _only_ makes them the filthy ones and they *will not* succeed. today i have cut out a friend group like this... they were saying they were doing all the things they did because they were looking out for me and such, while i kept magically hearing non-existent facts about myself from unrelated people. i started getting strange looks and behaviours from people i didn't know a few weeks ago which kept getting worse and worse, and i swear, i swear, i wouldn't hurt a fly even if i had to. then, the person i trusted the most in that group, who had helped me so much in the past to recover from a painful event, initiated all the gossip. she shared confidential stuff with everyone. i am heartbroken, and the person i had thought loved me doesn't talk to me anymore because they stuffed him up with their lies about me. i feel like i was covered with honey and left in a forest. i feel betrayed, because i was betrayed. i felt liberated at first, then empty inside. if they attack me, i will not let them succeed. i will stay calm, collected, and gentle towards people. i will never resort to gossip the way they did. even sitting at that table every day, listening to them bashing every single person who stepped foot in the school, made me feel dirty. if you have read all this, thank you. if you have anything to say, i would be delighted to read it. ps: if you are the silent one in the friend group, i feel you... you are poetic and i send you love. we can do this because our gentility holds power over them.
i don't have any head-turning qualities about me whatsoever, but they still talk shit. i am loved by a few pure people with loving intentions and i think that is what they might be jealous of, as well as my romance life going lovingly (until they intervened) whereas they get rejected over and over.

My old "best friend" behaved like this. All these 6 signs. She put me down in any way and spread gossips about me. I cut all contact with her and she is now trying to "ruin my reputation" by, again, spreading gossips about me that aren't true! I am much happier without her now and I am more sociable and I am slowly getting rid of my depression! I am so happy now that she isn't on my back anymore!

I have experienced jealousy from a so-called friend (more like a frenemy) whose competitiveness with me was far more subtle and insidious than this video shows. Jealous friends don’t always manifest their feelings but can sometimes harbour them very adeptly, and which 'leak out'' in ways that can slip by one if not attuned to the signs. Because I was her BFF she showered me with compliments and praised my “amazing” qualities as a person. But when the friendship was tested in times of stress her true colours were often revealed. I spent most of our relationship walking on eggshells. She is no longer my friend; a huge relief.
I've had a best friend who I broke the relationship off a little while ago because, well, she just didn't treat me like a human. Then I realise that it's because she was jealous of me.. everything checked out, she said that she didn't have a crush, but the second I said that I did, she immediately starting "liking" the same guy. She would say that on all of my school projects that, anyone could reach that level of achieving. And of course, she talked about me behind my back. When I would leave for the bus at the end of the day, she would say 'Bye!' and then go to the other girls and say my name like "Holly This" "Holly That". So thanks for the information!
There have been two "colleagues" who were jealous of me, although they expressed it differently. One tried dressing like me (my style seriously didn't suit her). The other lied her way into a Phd candidacy after I was offered mine (she was kicked out due to lack of progress and discovery of her fraud). Jealousy holds you back, it gets you nowhere.

I relate to this because i was jealous of a close friend's talent, the competitiveness helped me find my own talent and they too became jealous of me. Jealousy is not a good feeling, it kills friendship and loosens your strong bond. it feels disgusting.
In my school, i have this friend. I can tell he was jealous of me at very beginning in our friendship. Then few months, he start compete me at everything. I talk to my other friends to join me dirtbiking after school. My jealous friend said where do i want to go after this. I said i going to dirtbiking with my friends. He said why i didnt invite him. I said that i didnt invite him because he acting weird and make me uncomfortable. He said he will join and i didnt let him. "Why i cant?!" Said him with high voice. I said "Its because you acting weird and make me uncomfortable i already said that. Also you dont even know how to ride bicycle so i dont want you to broke your legs on dirtbike". Then he said everything isnt true about me loudly and saying that i didnt support him. I dont want him to broke his legs literally or his dad will kill me. Then, our friendship end.
this is an eye opener for me. I never thought that the people I spend the most outside my home are the ones who have jealousy to me. It sucks to be honest; a lot of trust issues had developed between me and them. Some of my trustworthy friends adviced me to simply let them go and find someone who is honest to you and never doubts you. I hope I do look for one or maybe they come to me.
I have a “friend” we weren’t much of friends until 7th grade. But we’ve known each other since 1st. At first she would just eat the same things I do (I’m just extremely picky and eat basically the same 20 food choices every day) and I thought she just liked the same foods, and it wasn’t much of a deal. I would play with a lot of American girl dolls, and she started to play with them A LOT and I had a “family” of like 5 dolls, she could find literally any baby dolls she could get her hands on just so that she could make herself a “family” too. She copies my style. I wear a lot of leggings, Jean shorts, and graphic t-shirts. She started to wear all that too. I went to clares (an accessory store with earrings, bracelets, hair things etc) and she went there too. I loved subway, Wendy’s and chick fil a, she started to love it too. I loved a tv show called icarly, guess what? She started to love it too. I loved loved loved to listen to Harry styles, and one direction, now she is obsessed. She even copies my jokes. I like to paint my nails and now so does she. I like to wear matching hand sanitizer and perfume. She matches them too. This one girl was friends with my best friend, when my best friend met me, we spent a lot of time together! That girl thought I was taking her friend away from her. She started being toxic to me, avoiding me, mimicking me in bad ways when I’m not around, calling me rude names, trying to keep my best friend away from me, and undermining my success... My best friend has my back and is always telling me what her jealous friend is doing and saying
The last two points really did it for me. I’ve been entertaining a relationship with a person like this but over the weeks I’ve felt this eerie feeling when we spoke like I’m not safe or I’m facing someone that’s disregulated to the point that it’s unsafe. I have made my boundaries clear one first time and we discussed it, I thought they would make an effort to change for a healthier dynamic. But the day after I was cornered in a spot that I already said made me uncomfortable. The second time I reinforced my boundaries they just ghosted. This is sad but I gotta put me first

All my friends were like this. To be honest, they weren‘t really pretty, me neither st the beginning. But after losing weight and starting to dress more feminine, they startet to be extremly jealous at me. I had to quit because they even tried to ruin my relationship in the end.

Exactly. There’s this girl at my school and I don’t know why but she’s super mean to me. She constantly talks behind my back and says stuff about me. When I never even have conversations with her or talk about her. I’m a very shy person so I wonder where this came from. I disagree. They may not be mean outwardly, but jealousy is *always* a cancer on a relationship. So, I have a friend that's been with me since childhood, and only now I'm starting to notice how jealous she is of me. It got to the point where she gossiped about me to my own boyfriend, and tried to paint me as a bad and selfish person. At first I thought I was exaggerating, but it turned out that she really is toxic and jealous. This video was entirely relatable, and it really breaks my heart.

Jealous people always make me feel uncomfortable, there's a difference between admiring someone's accomplishments and being inspired by them and being jealous. Jealousy is the feeling that you wish you had what they had or that they didn't have what they have because you don't have it, there's a cynical feeling in it and I always worry about showing the happiness in my life to people who are jealous. Usually people who focus on jealousy are only pleased when those around them are doing worse that them, terrible mindset to have and not the kind of person people would want to be friends with. I've struggled a lot through life, like we all have, and I can't trust someone who only sees what I have and not how much I've struggled to get there or all the problems I have in my life which mean that I somewhat deserve that little bit of happiness in a different aspect of my life. Constantly looking to what other people have and not to what you have is a really negative mindset, we all have problems and we all have good things as well, no one's life is better than anyone else's, our life is the best for US because we're the only ones who have lived it and are accustomed to it. So please don't waste your time complaining about other people's 'happy' lives, go out their and make your own. I have no sympathy for those who say their lives are terrible and who spend time being jealous of others instead of investing time and energy into their own lives.

But if you’ve ever been in a friend group or relationship where it’s prominent you’ll know how bad it can get. I had a friendship where envy basically broke it. I feel like there's another important perspective of jealousy too: A friend who suddenly slowly begins to exit out of your life, because they're jealous.
I've done this once, because the jealousy showed me how slowly my own life was going, so I couldn't quite bear to communicate with one of my friends anymore. I plan to get better to where I can be close to them again, and to monitor my jealousy, cause I genuinely love them.
But I think that's a type of jealousy that can quietly destroy relationships. Someone who is too hurt by their own jealous feelings or who doesn't want to project their jealousy onto their friend, and slowly slips away into the distance.

My best friend led up to all of this. Thank you so much for this, now I know how jealous she is.
My ex best friend would do some of these things. When we were younger it wasn't as bad, but as we got older she got progressively worse. First it was copying me and eventually became trying to compete with me. She'd try to one-up me when it came to my hobbies, like trying to outdo my drawings or when playing sports. It was little petty things like this at first, but once we got to high school she got worse. It seemed like she just plain out didn't like me anymore. By this time we kind of drifted apart, but we still remained friends because we had some mutual friends. She became less genuine and felt two-faced. She was nice to my face, but I could tell she was gossiping about me behind my back. Whenever she started hanging out with the people I did, I started being treated differently, as if they knew something about me that I didn't. This happened EVERY time I made new friend groups. She'd start hanging out with us and eventually I'd have to make a new one. She was like a parasite lol funny how she could never keep friends of her own though. I finally cut her off and it felt so satisfying! I felt so much happier now that I don't have to deal with her toxic behavior anymore!
I feel like some of the points made arent as awful as they make it seem?
1. Competition isn't necessarily a bad thing. In lots of cases, it can be friendly and extremely motivating for both sides. Tension is natural in this setting. I dont think that just because you want to better yourself always means that youre jealous. I dont think its always so personal.
2. Although fake compliments arent the most desired, i feel like lots of us do that on a daily basis. Again, nothing personal, its just some such as myself, would rather avoid the trouble of possibly kicking someone down by telling them what i actually think? Especially if im not that close with them
3. I dont think being attached to someone is a crime. I guess i can see overly-attached as a potential for issues, but idk. I dont see how that directly correlates to jealousy.
Or maybe im just a jealous person. Idk. But I dont feel negatively, nor aim for others to feel negatively through the points i mentioned above

Your only competition is who you were yesterday, everyone’s definition of success is different, so imagine competing with someone who doesn’t know they’re in a competition to begin with. Fake compliments are toxic, but i agree with being attached isn’t always a negative, although we must establish real trust first
This helped me realize that one of my "friends" is actually not my friend at all. She showed all of them especially the clingy thing. :( I do not know how to end my friendship with her! I tried once because of something but then she sort of forced me. :(

Sometimes you just have to be the "bad guy" and cut it off. I went through something similar with one of my old friends. She would constantly text me and want my attention, copy me and get upset if I didn't text her back within a couple of days. On top of it all she admitted to me that she liked me and pushed gifts on me constantly. I couldn't keep up with her constantly pushing her way into my life and as much as I believe that she is a good person at heart, I just couldn't find space to breath with her around. I had to walk away and that's what I did. I told her that I needed to walk away as firmly and politely as I could without backing down and giving in to her emotions. I'm not going to lie it was hard and it hurt, but putting your foot down and walking away will be the best thing you could ever do for yourself. I'm much happier and am ready to move forward with my life and I hope anyone else reading this will be ready too. All the best for anyone who is going through this now. And if anyone has anymore experience or advice to add please feel free to share your personal experience and how you dealt with it because everyone is different and no two situations are the same.

I know it is a difficult situation. I have been there. Cutting them off sounds extreme but it is the only way. I would recommend you tho to prepare others about their possible reactions. Like, that they might say nasty things that are false or that you need a break. So when your friend tries to make a counterattack, the people around you won’t pay them much attention. It is hard but it is totally worth it! You will feel so much better

It really helps when someone is finally able to GENUINELY accept the failure and imperfection of their lives and make it a point to be critical of their own way before someone else's. I literally do not ever look at someone with malicious envy or unperceptive hatred. I can relate to the copycat part, jealous people always try to copy you and somehow be like you, I had a lot of people like that in my life but I thought I was wrong and that thinking someone might be jealous of you is an act born out of arrogance and over self-confidence, but after watching this video I realized that I was right and I still have some of these people in my life lol
Even though we really love and support each other, between my best friend and I, there is an always existing level of jealousy. She seems to feel like I'm better at things than she is, I feel like her body is way better than mine. We are similar, we know that we're jealous of some people, but we try not to be. We both know that jealousy ruins some things and friendships, so we try to push it back and act like we're not jealous. That of course doesn't mean that we constantly do the things listed in this video, but I just notice that at many points throughout the days and weeks and months, she puts herself in front of me, trying to be in the spotlight as much as possible. But that's okay, it's quite annoying sometimes, but I can live with it since everybody has their flaws. I don't blame her, I understand what all of that is about and that she's just insecure. Not saying she's not good at the things she does, but she wasn't born with a great natural talent. (Many people don't have such a talent, which is totally fine, but those many people believe that everybody except them has that talent) She may not have that, but she works hard to achieve her goals and that's the big point, not any great talent. We both don't mind that little jealousy within our friendship, because it still works great and we're a good team! I love her and she loves me, it works out and we support each other, that's what counts! :)
Isn't it sad when ur mind is like "Nah, my friend isn't like this" but deep down in your heart u relate to this a lot. Don't stay with such kinds of toxic friends. They're just like shadows. They'll follow u in the light but leave u helpless in the dark.
Jealousy is not something I understand too well, at least not when it comes from other people at me, like they get pissed off at me for seemingly no reason and im like "What the heck did I do wtf? Whats this persons problem!?"
Watching this makes me think of how I acted toward my older brother. He was always better than me at art and can draw something from memory. Whenever he drew something I would undermine his success and would say I can draw just as good, then we would have art competitions. I was just a kid but I feel bad that I discouraged him from art just because I was jealous and angry that my family said he was a better artist than I was.

today i have cut out a friend group like this...
they were saying they were doing all the things they did because they were looking out for me and such, while i kept magically hearing non-existent facts about myself from unrelated people. i started getting strange looks and behaviours from people i didn't know a few weeks ago which kept getting worse and worse, and i swear, i swear, i wouldn't hurt a fly even if i had to. then, the person i trusted the most in that group, who had helped me so much in the past to recover from a painful event, initiated all the gossip. she shared confidential stuff with everyone. i am heartbroken, and the person i had thought loved me doesn't talk to me anymore because they stuffed him up with their lies about me.
i feel like i was covered with honey and left in a forest. i feel betrayed, because i was betrayed. i felt liberated at first, then empty inside.
if they attack me, i will not let them succeed.
i will stay calm, collected, and gentle towards people. i will never resort to gossip the way they did. even sitting at that table every day, listening to them bashing every single person who stepped foot in the school, made me feel dirty.

i don't have any head-turning qualities about me whatsoever, but they still talk shit. i am loved by a few pure people with loving intentions and i think that is what they might be jealous of, as well as my romance life going lovingly (until they intervened) whereas they get rejected over and over.
Wow. All this time I have been surrounding myself in such toxic friendships and I have become like the people I spend time with, I’m the one who’s jealous of everyone and everything and craves approval. I have been working on myself and this video helped me reliaze the truth and I got to know much more about myself. Thank you!

My old "best friend" behaved like this.
All these 6 signs. She put me down in any way and spread gossips about me. I cut all contact with her and she is now trying to "ruin my reputation" by, again, spreading gossips about me that aren't true! I am much happier without her now and I am more sociable and I am slowly getting rid of my depression! I am so happy now that she isn't on my back anymore!

I have experienced jealousy from a so-called friend (more like a frenemy) whose competitiveness with me was far more subtle and insidious than this video shows. Jealous friends don’t always manifest their feelings but can sometimes harbour them very adeptly, and which 'leak out'' in ways that can slip by one if not attuned to the signs. Because I was her BFF she showered me with compliments and praised my “amazing” qualities as a person. But when the friendship was tested in times of stress her true colours were often revealed. I spent most of our relationship walking on eggshells. She is no longer my friend; a huge relief.

I've had a best friend who I broke the relationship off a little while ago because, well, she just didn't treat me like a human. Then I realise that it's because she was jealous of me.. everything checked out, she said that she didn't have a crush, but the second I said that I did, she immediately starting "liking" the same guy. She would say that on all of my school projects that, anyone could reach that level of achieving. And of course, she talked about me behind my back. When I would leave for the bus at the end of the day, she would say 'Bye!' and then go to the other girls and say my name like "Holly This" "Holly That". So thanks for the information!

There have been two "colleagues" who were jealous of me, although they expressed it differently. One tried dressing like me (my style seriously didn't suit her). The other lied her way into a Phd candidacy after I was offered mine (she was kicked out due to lack of progress and discovery of her fraud). Jealousy holds you back, it gets you nowhere.
Can you please consider making a video of how to help stop jealous feelings? I feel like I constantly live my life feeling jealous (in the romantic relationship sense) and paranoid, I really need help with it. Thanks for all you do, Psych2Go Team
I relate to this because i was jealous of a close friend's talent, the competitiveness helped me find my own talent and they too became jealous of me. Jealousy is not a good feeling, it kills friendship and loosens your strong bond. it feels disgusting.
In my school, i have this friend. I can tell he was jealous of me at very beginning in our friendship. Then few months, he start compete me at everything. I talk to my other friends to join me dirtbiking after school. My jealous friend said where do i want to go after this. I said i going to dirtbiking with my friends. He said why i didnt invite him. I said that i didnt invite him because he acting weird and make me uncomfortable. He said he will join and i didnt let him. "Why i cant?!" Said him with high voice. I said "Its because you acting weird and make me uncomfortable i already said that. Also you dont even know how to ride bicycle so i dont want you to broke your legs on dirtbike". Then he said everything isnt true about me loudly and saying that i didnt support him. I dont want him to broke his legs literally or his dad will kill me. Then, our friendship end.

This reminds me of my Secondary School days where people are jealous of me. I am occasionally jealous of people too
this is an eye opener for me. I never thought that the people I spend the most outside my home are the ones who have jealousy to me. It sucks to be honest; a lot of trust issues had developed between me and them. Some of my trustworthy friends adviced me to simply let them go and find someone who is honest to you and never doubts you. I hope I do look for one or maybe they come to me.
I have a “friend” we weren’t much of friends until 7th grade. But we’ve known each other since 1st. At first she would just eat the same things I do (I’m just extremely picky and eat basically the same 20 food choices every day) and I thought she just liked the same foods, and it wasn’t much of a deal. I would play with a lot of American girl dolls, and she started to play with them A LOT and I had a “family” of like 5 dolls, she could find literally any baby dolls she could get her hands on just so that she could make herself a “family” too. She copies my style. I wear a lot of leggings, Jean shorts, and graphic t-shirts. She started to wear all that too. I went to clares (an accessory store with earrings, bracelets, hair things etc) and she went there too. I loved subway, Wendy’s and chick fil a, she started to love it too. I loved a tv show called icarly, guess what? She started to love it too. I loved loved loved to listen to Harry styles, and one direction, now she is obsessed. She even copies my jokes. I like to paint my nails and now so does she. I like to wear matching hand sanitizer and perfume. She matches them too. She is constantly texting me and bugging me to see her.I could go on and on but these were the most annoying. And now, she thinks I’m her bestie and I really am not trying to be mean but I just don’t like her that much.
the competition and copycatting pisses me off so much cause i take pride in knowing myself, knowing what i want and how i want to present myself and they go and try to do the same and a lot of the time get praised for it since they're considered better looking, charismatic and outgoing so in the end no one looks at me and now im the jealous one. its like i can never get out of this.

The last two points really did it for me. I’ve been entertaining a relationship with a person like this but over the weeks I’ve felt this eerie feeling when we spoke like I’m not safe or I’m facing someone that’s disregulated to the point that it’s unsafe. I have made my boundaries clear one first time and we discussed it, I thought they would make an effort to change for a healthier dynamic. But the day after I was cornered in a spot that I already said made me uncomfortable. The second time I reinforced my boundaries they just ghosted. This is sad but I gotta put me first
