Happened to me literally in July. I didn't know why she was angry and ignored me. Wrote an apology without knowing what l was apologising for. We made up. Flash to a month later, she did it again after receiving our prelim lit results and she ignored me again. Haven't talked her since because l gave up

Being disliked hurts. Especially if you really want to be friends with ppl. I remember so many times in my childhood that I was told someone didn't like me. They were never afraid to tell me how they felt about me. I never knew what it was I did to make ppl dislike me. It's been a struggle as an adult to make friends, bc of it. I'd rather be alone than worry about if I said something or did something wrong. I have one internet friend. I've been friends for 2 years now. We have a lot in common, and I think it's why. It certainly helps.

When I turned 20, I decided to be alone for the rest of my life. I was fed up with constantly being attacked by people who were supposed to be my friends. After 30 years, I can say I am alone but not lonely. What I have realized is they don't necessarily hate you or dislike you, they are just indifferent for the most part. I'm sure some do dislike me but most I feel just don't care. Someone said that mean people seem to have the most friends. I'd agree with that. When people don't care about you but then find out that you are easy to criticize or take advantage of, they will do it. Because they don't care and you are any easy target. It is entertainment for them.
My neighbor just ignored me and spoke to the other neighbor that came out as I was going in. I have no idea what I have done but I was certainly ignored! It does hurt but I guarantee she won’t have another chance to snub me because this girl is through with that friendship! I don’t have time for people that run hot and cold and you never know which it will be!
I'm 22 years old, now I don't make any friends and yes, I have online friends, and they are sweet, I'm happy with that, but it hurts when I think of those friends who hurt me before, it's okay, eventually I'll try to forget.

I know most people are using this to identify people in their lives ( which is totally alright), but realizing that you yourself may be unintentionally may be doing this to someone else and having to admit that you don't like that person is a massive punch to the gut. I know from experience
Some of these are exclusive to people who don’t like you either. Some people have social anxiety, are extremely shy, or are just uncomfortable, especially young folks. Not everybody has to like me, and I do not have to like everybody either. I honestly stopped trying to be a people pleaser years ago.

@@MosseiShroome I am always nice to people unless they give me a reason not to be. Had an old racist woman that used to live across the street from me and I was even nice to her, but also made it clear I didn’t want to hear her nonsense and if she couldn’t respect that then she shouldn’t speak to me. I was probably the only person on our block that was ever nice to her. I didn’t even know she had a daughter until she passed away, as she never visited her mom and apparently lived in the area. Not sure your age, but when I was younger my feeling would get hurt and I’d obsess more about things like that. As I aged, I just realized not everyone is my cup of tea, and I cannot expect to be everyone’s cup of tea either.

Not everybody is going to like you, and you're not going to like everybody - and that's okay. So long as you aren't going out of your way to ruin their day or be mean, it's completely normal to let someone know you're not fond of them (directly or indirectly). I usually do many of these things when I have to interact with someone I don't like - depending on the person and situation - it's better than putting on an act and pretending you like someone imo.

My ‘friends’ are ignoring me completely without any context. I know I’ve done something wrong but could I at least have some background info?
Picking up information shared by others is not it.
If someone dislikes another, it is their business. Not the person that is disliked.
To me, the real problem is that people find it so necessary to tell you that they don't like you. I don't take people who act this way seriously because they aren't creative or thinkers, they are petty reactors who just gossip and complain and taunt others and get something out of that. I don't get anything from doing that except guilt and shame for being abusive and people who waste their time this way are perplexing. Why do they think their opinion is so important to share?
I tell people, but only when they give me a reason to. I'd rather just be honest than watch them waste their energy on me. I'd want other people to do the same.

An introvert not necessarily is like this, I actually feel that classifying yourself in these kind of behaviors is not good because then you would be in this mental box of where you do and dont belong
For example, I am very close to the definition of an introvert, but I like to talk, make friends and hang out with people, I just need my time alone as well (almost always)

This has genuinely been the worst year of my life. I have never felt so lonely and depressed, and I couldn’t tell you a single thing I like about myself.
I try to always be kind to others and often get compliments and a positive reception, but I find it hard to make any long lasting friendships and fully include myself in a group environment.
I really just want to know what’s wrong with me. I want to know what people think and what is sometimes stopping them from fully including me. I’m part of a theatre group and when we do meet up they have the kindest words to say and say stuff to me like “you’re the only person we don’t talk shit about” and “everyone loves you” but will really never ask me to hang out or anything… I feel so lonely and that everyone’s lying to me.
I don’t know what to do, I just feel hurt and my confidence is on the floor.
It’d be nice to speak to someone who’s been through a similar thing.

It's not accidental, but either planned or subconsciously executed to avoid the unpleasantness of dealing with you (not you personally). This is my basic understanding. And I probably send off the same signals to some of those who I think mistreat me or "rub me the wrong way".

The last two were true for me once. To keep it short, I found out from another friend that a girl I thought I was friends with secretly disliked me. I was a little disappointed, and I did have suspicions before finding out, but said nothing because I had no way to prove my claim and I didn’t want to start internal drama within the friend group. Now, i’m paranoid/anxious that the people I meet and become friends with secretly dislike me. I know it's not really great to care so much on what people think of you, but it really hurts when you find out that someone who you thought was your friend isn't.
It's soo weird that the person sees you as a competition when u see them as family/friends :(

It hurts when someone doesn’t like you. As humans, we search for validation. It’s what we do. But not everyone is gonna like you. I’m sure there are people that you don’t like, and I’m sure you have your reasons. Someone doesn’t have to do something wrong for you to dislike them, they can just have a personality that goes against what you believe. You’re not wrong for not liking someone, and someone else isn’t wrong for not liking you. If you know someone who does these things to you , keep your head up before your crown falls and go find people who want to be around you. You got this ❤

Exactly. I have only recently come to realise that some of my very old friends do not really like me, and I've started seeing almost all of these signs mentioned. It's hard to accept, but I also see clearly that the only way they might like me more would be if I started to think, behave, even dress like them. One of them is the dominant charecter and the other two almost copy her. I don't think that's how friendship should be. I simply cannot change my taste, or my perspective over matters so that others like me more..It seems I have to gradually cut down my contant with them to a minimum in order to protect myself.

We moved to a small town and "someone" put out the word that I was "horrible person". It spread far and wide and severely damaged my reputation in no time.

I can confirm the one about eye contact. Two of my friends stopped being friends but i wanted to still be friends with both because i didn't wanna pick a side. But one of them just constantly vented about them without asking and was like "dont trust them they're fake" and said all kinds of bad things about her while knowing im still friends with her, then had the audacity to say "Btw lets keep what i said between you and me". After talking trash about one of my best friends. After that I couldn't get myself to look her in the eye because of how much I was annoyed at her. As you can imagine I stopped being friends with her after that.

Very insightful. I realized I express such behaviour unintentionaly, because I am reluctant to invest time in small talks and "meaningless" social interaction. This leads to a situation when people starts to reflect such behaviour, because they think I dislije them. Or I am just overthink this)

I'm always depressed it just doesn't go away sometimes you can be happy and other times it just hits you I know people don't like me mostly people I thought were my good Internet friends I tried everything to be a part of there group again but after seeing them post stuff like " I need my best friends over here" and them tagging each other and then keeping one word conversations with me I now know I was never liked just tolerated it hurts a lot but I just have to move on

Yeah you’re probably right. I put so much effort, but eventually they always stab me in the back one way or another.
I had an online best friend, we used to be veryyyyy close and always talk abt different topics, but after a while I realized how she loves showing off and other things that indirectly make me feel insecure, saying things that kinda offend me somehow. She's acting like a pick me which I find quite annoying but I know that she is still a nice person and I know I shouldn't feel this way, so I tried to grew out of those thoughts and just get along well with her but I started to have this ugh/uncomfortable feelings whenever I'm talking to her, I can't help it and I feel guilty. So in result, I chat less with her, I replied non enthusiastically to her texts unlike the usual, and now we're officially apart, we pretend that we don't know each other and all, while that and the memories of us used to be so close kind of made my heart ache but I'd rather lose a friend than having a friend who constantly makes me feel inferior.
I know the people who dislike me. They're very jealous of my success, and they think my personality is very intimidating. I'm so sorry for these people wasting their time talking about me. I have no time to spare giving attention to their wrong narratives. So, I ignored them. Otherwise, they'll take me to their black holes. Life goes on!
