The heat shrink is great for preventing weeds snagging up on that tag end sticking out.

When you crimp those up for halibut, or in my case Bluefin Tuna, singe the end of the mono and dab it fatter so in case your crimp isn't quite 100% it might have less chance of sliding back through the crimp. Just FYI.

Makes sense. I've seen that somewhere. I don't crimp for halibut, I tie my halibut rigs. Check out the 162lbs of Halibut video. I show my Halibut rigs in that video.

I build something similar. Mine are 6-8 in. In length out of heavy mono like you use, i also use crimps, duolok swivels, and a sliding dropper. Works very well just curious as why you use the long length and why the bead chain is necessary. May incorporate some of this into my own bumpers, thanks alot i really enjoy your content and a new subscriber here

It is long so the weight doesn't impact thw dodger action. The bead chain helps the dodger move more freely. Thanks for watching.

Nice video, what's the source/sizing for the crimps you're using? Also the crimping pliers? Thanks!

I got everything at Sportco. located un Fife Wa. The sleeves depend on the size line. They have recommended sizes but I find it best to fit a piece of line first before buying. Seem to get a tighter fit.

This seems silly… why not just use a vip line lock and a bead chain?
This takes overthinking it to the max 🤦‍♂️

Just an alternative cashot. He's just building a sliding weight with a bumper all in one. But I'd agree, it doesn't prevent line twist like a line lock.
