🎣FISHING🎣RIVERS🎣 LAKES🎣OCEAN🎣 WE DO IT ALL!
Fishing is not just about catching fish. It is about carrying on a family tradition. My father taught me at age 6 how to catch fish. That obsession grew to include Salmon, Steelhead, Kokanee, Halibut, Ling Cod, Rock Fish, Tuna and more.
From catching Trout in France in the 60's, to Salmon & Arctic Grayling in Alaska during the 70's, & 80's, to Montana Browns and Florida's Snook & Hammerhead Sharks, I may help you become a better fisherman with tips, tricks and useful advice. Maybe even the occasional word of wisdom. While I do not consider myself a "fishing expert", I do rely on a vast frame of reference I am more than willing to share with you.

Winter Kokanee | Day Two Trout & MORE!
My buddy Bobby Brown and I fished Merwin Reservoir for Kokanee and boated 20 decent sized fish in no time. Downrigging Pink Half Fast dodgers and Pink Micro Hoochies tipped with Gulp Maggots at 30-40ft depth at 1.3mph - 1.7mph did the trick.
I also purchased and installed a Minnkota Bow Mounted trolling motor so I can just set it, and forget it. Worked like a charm, expect for Spinning in circles on American Lake the following day trying to calibrate the sensor head while searching for Perch and Trout.
I lost a couple of Trout and came home with one I will use for Halibut bait. The weather both days was spectacular. Sunny. Warm. Who could ask for more?

Locating Wary Fish & Making Them Bite

A fog filled morning turns bright and beautiful. The day went from zero visibility to crystal clear in just a few short hours. That is when the bite turned on and the fish went from peckish to ravenous. The surface was teaming with swirls of Rainbow Trout searching for breakfast as the Sun warmed the water's surface. I trolled using the downrigger with a pink and chrome dodger leading a 10" 10l...

Oddly enough, I caught some huge trout and a couple kokes on American while fishing for bass. Great bass lake.

Never been there.
Love the videos, hopefully you can do a pt defiance, slag pile seminar this summer 🚤
Congrats on the bow mount! You might want to put the gps puck up on the top of the console instead. That way you have the best capability to receive the gps signals
I thought about that location but didn’t want to drill holes in it. It somewhat protected and has a clear line of sight tonthe motor so it should be ok. we'll see. 😆
Did you get the 12, 24 or 36 volt on the electric, I have heard several pro’s and cons’s about each???
@@dakotagoose 12v
I have a similar size boat and use the 24v, 80# thrust. I can fish for bass several days without recharging. If trolling in rough water, it still will last all day.
@@no_regerts5176 that's awesome.
Nice addition with the bow mount! We find that our sled tracks better when trolling with the bow mount when the gas kicker in the down position (not running). It acts as a rudder for the rear and really keeps the back end from swinging especially in the wind. The extra drag is not even noticeable. Bummer about the perch, we are headed out there tomorrow to give it a try. Your wife was right about the worms.. just sayin
Makes sense. thanks and good luck.
With autopilot, the rudder will only slow down the boat and waste more battery power. It’s not needed with autopilot.
The spotlock should key in. Mine takes a minute to dial in after a few minutes it narrows to to about a 12" area it will hover over. Itll lock onto the current and wind and hold place.
I was turning the spotlock function on, but not setting it. I was missing that one step. Thanks.
Great video & congratulations on your new Minn Kota. If you haven’t already you’re going to need to install the “Trolling motor Stabilizer Mount” it’ll support the head while you’re traveling down the road & prevent the trolling motor head from bouncing & getting shaken to death. Thank you for sharing your video. Bob
Thanks, I'll definitely look into that.
Looks like a short shaft, shouldn’t need the support for his shaft length.
54". So far I have been traveling with it in the back of the truck. No bouncing there. :-)
Fish are trickling in have the drift boat out next week

Too many people and not enough fish anymore. My problem i remember thr 50s,60,70 ,80s and even the 90s and how there were lots of fish and very few people. We had it made and now its combat fishing with lots of rude people and sadly ruder guides. I havent bought a fishing license since 2018 and most likely never will again. What should I use for staging kings in Puget sound, when they get picky about August September? I'm currently running flasher squid, flasher spoon, plugs, and nothing 🤷 only jigging has been good for me. Lost one last year his tail to dorsal was about 22" thx professor
@@kingchaser-c4t Staging? Where? Like Commencement Bay, or FishTrap? May vary depending on where...
Pt defiance, slag pile, Puyallup mouth, thx. I've been watching the kings at 30-60 ft down on the sonar but they aren't biting anything but jigging on bottom
@@kingchaser-c4t Those are probably Winter Blackmouth, technically Kings/Chinook but are resident to Puget Sound waters. When I used to fish with meat poles, we'd drop the weight and hit the bottom, the bring it up just enough to have the flasher tapping the bottom once in a while. Now I just set the downrigger just above the bottom based on sonar depth. Herring, plugs, spoons will work, but you gotta get them as close to the bottom as possible. Hope this helps.
Copy that thanks 💪

Thanks for the tips!
Dear fishing fanatics, is there a small boat you would recommend for rivers and puget sound? Something with a jet on it but will still handle some decent water in the bay?
@@kingchaser-c4t anything with a semi V hull will work. Avoid flat bottom for the bay. Be aware though unless it's a deep V you're gonna take a beating in modest swells and chop. Inused to have a Alumaweld with inboard sport jet that worked great except in rough water. You almost have to have more than one boat.
Thanks for the advice, I am currently running a 15' salty fiberglass boat. Lots of people say it would do well in the rivers but I would either have to have a prop guard or jet. I've never fished rivers in boats, do you drift down the cowlitz then power up river when you are done?
@kingchaser-c4t do not use a prop boat on the river unless you know a river very well. Some areas is doable but not anywhere it has shallows or gravel bars. I see many people get stuck with prop motors.
