🎣FISHING🎣RIVERS🎣 LAKES🎣OCEAN🎣 WE DO IT ALL!
Fishing is not just about catching fish. It is about carrying on a family tradition. My father taught me at age 6 how to catch fish. That obsession grew to include Salmon, Steelhead, Kokanee, Halibut, Ling Cod, Rock Fish, Tuna and more.
From catching Trout in France in the 60's, to Salmon & Arctic Grayling in Alaska during the 70's, & 80's, to Montana Browns and Florida's Snook & Hammerhead Sharks, I may help you become a better fisherman with tips, tricks and useful advice. Maybe even the occasional word of wisdom. While I do not consider myself a "fishing expert", I do rely on a vast frame of reference I am more than willing to share with you.

Fish Gods Sent A White Rainbow Full of Ivory King Salmon
Переглядів 2,8 тис.День тому
Fishing was slow until a white rainbow emerged form the sea and brought with it a school of massive Chinook Salmon. In less than half an hour we boated 3 beautiful King Salmon the largest weighing in at 21lbs. One of the Kings was a highly sought after Ivory King (White King). After that carnage we caught and safely released many other large Chinook in search of Coho (Silver Salmon) but could n...

@@waynefishon1650 You too. Next Satueday's video has the 23lb'er. Take it easy and thanks for watching.
I totally agree with your weather comment. At 60 years old, I've spent plenty of time in the sun. Today was a great start at 50 degrees here in the Olympia area!

Did you try a squirmy wormy in a size 10
I did not
Agree 100%...I don't think the fish is sitting under water thinking, oops that was a horrible looking cast I'm not biting that. I've used cane poles, casting rods, fly rods, then I bought a spey rod; they all catch fish, could care less how you present it.
@@ventureoutdoorswithkirk yup. Couldn't agree more. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it.
That looks so relaxing. Perfect fly water. Back in the day I used to slay em just down from the BC boat ramp with a gold ribbed hare's ear or a roderick haig steelhead bee tied to a 10' sink tip just mended and drifted. the strikes were nasty! Tried various flies, speys and what not but those two seemed to have the magic. Didn't think it was possible to catch em via fly on the Cow! I was wrong. Thanx for the great video Gene! Tight lines!
Sounds great And the water is perfect right now. Just wish I had more time to spend there. Thanks for watching
The guy that made the comment about your fly casting can go F-Off! You're not making "How to cast" vids You are showing a day on the water and catching fish or just the adventure being out on the water! You caught a steelhead that day, for crap sakes, you must have been casting just fine!!😂 It blows me away when people decide to comment negatively rather than just watch or not! I've been a subscriber for awhile now, I enjoy the scenery of your location and enjoy the way you do videos!! Keep it up, Great Job!
I hear ya. Thanks.
I will say, i love the fishing. But, the thing i absolutely love about your videos is the story they tell. A mans love for the river, ocean or lakes. You're 100% correct, it doesn't matter the size of a fish. It's the thrill of catching one. I started fishing at 3 or 4 in the creek by our house. Lol i caught more trees than fish. But, i loved every second of it. The talking and stories you tell truly take me back. And for that i can't thank you enough. Those memories of time spent with loved ones and friends are more valuable than gold. By the time i was 26 my dad and great uncle who i spent thousands of hours outdoors with had all passed. So it makes those memories even more cherished. Btw the pink on the vest goes along with your smile when you caught the trout. Wonderful video.
True story and thank you for watching

My left ear loved this video. Jury is still out on the right.

Thanks. And thanks for watching.
Just a heads up for anyone watching the video, they’re throwing heads overboard cuz area 12 was open for all shrimp species at the time. During spot prawn only openers you’re required to keep heads in the boat! I throw them on ice but next year I’ll experiment with keeping the heads in a separate container and seeing if dispatching them immediately improves taste
What electric reels are you using?
@@BlueWhaler17 In this video, the Diawa Tanacom 750 but I also have the 1000. They're both great.
I’m assuming it’s okay to keep that snagged fish because you caught it from so deep that if you released it, it would’ve died anyways. Correct?
@@BigBoiJohnny1 There is no anti snagging rule in the ocean.

@@stacyoberg775 Nothing like it. It is so peaceful 40+ miles offshore. Even with other boats around. Thanks for watching.
I think it’s the hatchery fish that are ‘endangered’ not the native. A few years ago we made our first trip to Neah Bay for mid September run that’s suppose to be in the straits , “there’ll be blood in the water “ they said. Well with 26 fish to the boat we were only able to keep one with the right number of fins., so we when bottom fishing too.
@@taco472 They're not raising as many and clipping fewer to reduce our catch and claim they're saving wild salmon. 😜
^^beat me to it, I was gonna say how many of those ones with extra fins were raised in a hatchery?
Gene, Those look like trout, or maybe landlock chinook. The coho don't have spots like those in this video, plus it looks like they have dark gums. I'm headed to that lake in a couple weeks for my annual trip. Very good video.

Dude ! I love your story! I used to be addicted to fishing, but then I started on some meds , and the desire went away. I am much happier, but fishing was my drug before for sure. My wife said I was a much better person after coming home from fishing. I do really enjoy teaching others , but feel sad that they can’t enjoy the kind of fishing in the 70s - 90s .
