I placed an order for this and waiting to get it. I do a lot of event photography and use Lightroom a lot. This is definitely a godsend on adjusting things with ease without the using the mouse. Loupedeck is way too overpriced. I like the A & B switch that doubles layer performance which I don't think you get with Loupedeck.
Thanks for the super easy setup. Saw another video and it made the set up very difficult. Love this controller it’s making editing fun again. You’re the man!
Thanks for putting the video online, most helpful one I have found. Been trying to order a XTouch mini for 4 months now but its due in stock in the UK next week at last.
Wow ! I can use a midi controller with Lightroom ?!! (using Lightroom for 4 years and didn't know that...) I'm gonna buy the Behringer X-Touch. Thank you !!
Phenomenal video. I've got the bug. The midi to LR bug! I have spent the past 3 days watching every video I can find. I ended up purchasing a Xtremist bundle, which includes the controller and Phixer software, from Pusher Labs. They send you the controller, already configured and set up to work with LR. They also offer the same controller you have, which is great. The Xtremist is their top of the line now, and they Phixer software is really slick and sofisticated. It even lets you map up to 16 regions on your mouse pad to whatever you want it to do. I cannot wait to get it!! My question is - how can you take the controller (whichever you get) and make it control Final Cut Pro or Photoshop CC?? Thanks and again - awesome video. You captured it perfectly.
+Paindoctor I was going to go with phixer's version too but it's a lot more expensive. I'm currently working on a way to get it to work with other software as another person has asked for the same thing. I'll keep you updated when I find a solution.
I may be wrong, but if it is an universal USB controller, then you can find on internet software to keymap key to controller. So if you put the shortcut of your software, it should work
I'm in the same camp... recently discovered midi2LR Currently working off an AKAI mpd 24, but going to switch to the novation launch control Kudos for a great startup video. If it saves you a few hours, encourage folks to send a few bucks to the developer... This is epic, have them keep it up!
Thank you very much! I will definetely do so! hopefullx they can help me further! Thanks for your fast respond and have a nice day in America! Unfortunately I visited the USA a two months ago. I was there because of a art photographie grant from Austria. BOught a car, travelled 5000 miles and took analogue portraits of native americans in standing rock and hippies in Taos new mexico! It was great! Thanks Andreas :-)
Wow that sounds amazing! I just went around western America too and did a big road trip. I made vlogs of the trip so if you're interested in seeing them, they are on my channel!
Glad the video helped you! Also, yes I this should work on windows. Check the attached link, there is a version of the software for windows. github.com/rsjaffe/MIDI2LR/releases/tag/v2.2.0.0
I can send it to you if you want, but I don't know if you would want to use it since going through Midi2LR and looking at how your buttons are laid out is kind of convoluted. You should really set it up to how you like it, but I can send you my layout if you want.
I'm curious to see how others laid out the controller to see if there's a non-obvious setting or simplification I could apply. thanks for getting back!
Did you get the same controller as the one in the video? I literally just went from the first slider in Lightroom to last (skipping those I don't use) and assigning them left to right on my controller. I did it in order to make it easier to remember.
I think this is dependent on the midi controller that you use and how sensitive it is. I tried with the one shown in the video and exposure moves by 0.12.
Hi. Do you think the midi2lr will work with the Livid Instrument Alias 8 midi controller? I am having trouble finding the behringer x touch mini in Singapore. Thanks.
The Upper Left USA try "controller mate" for mac I am not sure if there is a windows version... it should work all you do is map the the keys or nob very easy... tutorials on how to map can be easily found here on youtube.
Well... I'm out of luck ! I'm in Canada so : can't find it on Ebay... and on Amazon.ca it's $129.00 !! I also found it on B&H but they say there's a shipping restricion so they won't ship it in my country.. what the f*ck ???
That's too bad, but remember, really any midi controller will work. Just use the tips that I mentioned in the video and choose one that's available in your area!
+Vivek Saikia I've always wondered this too but never tried it. I think if there is a Lightroom version, someone else must've made a photoshop version.
I have an X-Touch collecting dust and didn't even think about doing this. you just saved me a lot of money! thanks for the video!
Glad I could help!
I was looking to buy a loupedeck but man you have saved me some money!
Awesome! Give this alternative a try before committing to a more expensive controller 👍

Happy to hear the setup is working out for you 👍🏽

Thanks for watching, glad it helped you. Hopefully you get the controller soon.
Bruh, I was about to get into the Palette $300 Pack.... thank you for this amazing alternative! $300 vs. $50 on amazon. No Contest.
Have fun with the saved money bro 👌🏽
Wow ! I can use a midi controller with Lightroom ?!! (using Lightroom for 4 years and didn't know that...) I'm gonna buy the Behringer X-Touch. Thank you !!
It's definitely a must try. Having a controller may completely change your work flow in a good way!

TheUpperLeftUSA.com Thank you so much for the reply. I will too and if I figure it out, I will let you know too.
Yes please keep me updated if you get it going first!
I may be wrong, but if it is an universal USB controller, then you can find on internet software to keymap key to controller. So if you put the shortcut of your software, it should work
Franck Birolini I think the main problem right now is finding the software to do such a thing, but yes it's just a matter of finding the software.
I'm in the same camp... recently discovered midi2LR

Yes! I saw already the picture of the cave! very impressive! I focused on portrait! I will look through your stuff!
Thanks Andreas and good luck!
was sooo close to buying a Palette.....thanks!
You’re welcome! Glad you saved some money.
Great tip man! Is there any similiar software to Premiere Pro? Would be awesome!
Unfortunately, I don’t know of a similar software for Premiere as I’m a Final Cut user. Hopefully someone else can help you with this 👍🏽
Awesome video! I was about to expend those $300 right before I watch it. My question is: do you think this will work on windows?
Glad the video helped you! Also, yes I this should work on windows. Check the attached link, there is a version of the software for windows.
github.com/rsjaffe/MIDI2LR/releases/tag/v2.2.0.0
can we do the same to premiere or any other video editing softwares?
In theory, yes. You just have to find the software that transfers the midi controls.
good stuff. I just got one. are you by chance sharing your controller layout file that you imported?
I can send it to you if you want, but I don't know if you would want to use it since going through Midi2LR and looking at how your buttons are laid out is kind of convoluted. You should really set it up to how you like it, but I can send you my layout if you want.

yup. I got the same one. seems like you did what I did, so maybe I'm not missing anything. thanks
No problem, let me know if you need any help.
I wonder if this works in Photoshop + Camera RAW panel?
If you can find a plug-in to do so.
My brush presets don’t work with the new version of Lightroom. Anyone have a fix
Hi just wondering what is the minimum amount the expuse slider will move wen you turn a dial. Is it possible to adjust by 0.10 incriments
Thanks ben
Expuse slider? Did you mean exposure slider? If so, there's no dedicated exposure slider. You can map it out to whatever you want.
@@HaiTran once mapped to a dial can you move it by 0.10
I think this is dependent on the midi controller that you use and how sensitive it is. I tried with the one shown in the video and exposure moves by 0.12.
Thankyou that's close enough to 0.10 for me then. Thankyou that's a great help and great video too 😀
You're welcome! Again, my results were based on using this midi controller amzn.to/2OuAPDG . Results may vary with another one. Good luck!
Can this be Hotkeyed to Photoshop or Adobe premiere?
It can if you have a program that does that.
Hey just came across this looking for palette videos - any idea if its good with FCPX?
If you can find a program that maps midi controls to FCPX.
Hi. Do you think the midi2lr will work with the Livid Instrument Alias 8 midi controller? I am having trouble finding the behringer x touch mini in Singapore. Thanks.
As far as I know, Midi2LR works with any midi controller.
The Upper Left USA Thank you for the speedy reply. Appreciate it.
No problem, good luck with the program.
Hahahahah I had the SAME thought process bro!!! I was like. Nope.. UA-cam search lol!! DIY HACKS alll the way!!
Give this a try! It works great and definitely gets the job done.
Thank you for this dude!!!
You’re welcome! Have fun editing with a controller👌🏽
Thank you for this!!
You’re welcome! Have fun editing with your controller 👍🏽
Great video man... Very detailed and helpful👌🏾
Thank you, I'm glad it helped you out.
Will this work for the old Lightroom 5.7.1?
I can't verify because I don't use that version but it's worth a try if you're interested. You can find out pretty quickly if it works or not.
can i use this for video edition
You can if you can find a program that allows you to edit with the program you’re using.
Can you use it with other Adobe softwares?
A few other commenters and I are working to figure this out now.
C0ST3L any update on this?
The Upper Left USA try "controller mate" for mac I am not sure if there is a windows version... it should work all you do is map the the keys or nob very easy... tutorials on how to map can be easily found here on youtube.
The Upper Left USA BTW I just been told a free midi2key is available free the name is "keystroke" mac only I believe
Thanks a lot for this! I'll definitely check these softwares out!
hey, will it work with Photoshop too?
If you can find a program to remap MIDI controls to photoshop.
@@HaiTran sweet, thanks!!
You're welcome and good luck!
Does anyone know if this will work with Capture One Pro?
If you can find a program to remap MIDI controls to Capture One Pro or just a program to universally remap MIDI controls.
have you've found a solution yet? I'm wondering how to...
Using a piano for Lightroom.
That works too as long as it's a midi device 👍
does the file work with Lightroom 5
I can't confirm since I don't use Lightroom 5 anymore but it doesn't hurt to try. Just download and see if it works out for you.
Support for LR5 has been dropped. You need at least Lightroom 6
and photoshop?
Same concept but you'll need to find a different plugin.
Well... I'm out of luck ! I'm in Canada so : can't find it on Ebay... and on Amazon.ca it's $129.00 !! I also found it on B&H but they say there's a shipping restricion so they won't ship it in my country.. what the f*ck ???

I sent an email at Behringer's group and hopefully they'll have a solution for me !
Good luck! Hopefully, you'll find something comparable.
Is anyone using MIDI2LR with Photoshop?
+Vivek Saikia I've always wondered this too but never tried it. I think if there is a Lightroom version, someone else must've made a photoshop version.
TheUpperLeftUSA.com If I can find a PS version of the software then it will be really easy on my wallet.
I agree. I'll be on the lookout for a PS version and will post a tutorial if I'm able to figure it out.
