    This is my review of the the Loupedeck CT (Loupedeck Creative Tool) a control surface for photo editing, video editing, and audio editing, among other things. In this video, I demonstrate how the Loupedeck CT works with Adobe Camera RAW, Affinity Photo, DaVinci Resolve, and Audacity. Much of this will be similar to the "Loupedeck Live", if you're familiar with it. In this video, I use the Loupedeck CT with ACR rather than Lightroom, but the two programs use the same engine and functionality is identical... in fact, it's easier within Lightroom, since it has dedicated support.
    I've now been using the Loupedeck CT off and on for about 9 months, and I'd still stand by all of the comments made in this review. Several months after publishing this video, the Loupedeck CT still does not automatically connect via the Photoshop plugin, which is weird, but it's still a simple matter to get it to work.

    I have the Loupedeck+. I use it daily and love it. It's half the price of the CT so I'd highly recommend it. Yes, it's a bit buggy sometimes and I have some annoyances with it, but overall it makes my workflow faster. I have pretty much all the dials in muscle memory and I can edit most of my event, wedding, real estate, etc photos with it and mouse.

    Matthew, thank you for this exhaustive review! I'm really appreciate your idea about a small hat tailored to the wheel. Do you have a source of this hat for 3D printer (you shown a 3D model in the video)?

    • @MatthewGore
      @MatthewGore  2 роки тому

      No, I'm afraid not. The model that I showed in the video was actually just a sketch I made in Photoshop, not even a real 3D program :-) I still haven't attempted one, but if you do it, let me know how it works out!

    How to work with selections in Carema Raw?
    For example, I have selected the sky and want to use the sliders to reduce the exposure.
    If you turn the slider, the exposure changes throughout the photo.
    How to “explain” to Loupedeck that you need to work only with the selected part?

      I nearly bought one of the larger X-touch models for audio editing... I love the fact that they have motorized sliders. I really don't need it, though, and my desk is crowded enough as it is :-)

    Hey Matt,
    Thx for the video! Very informative!!
    I received today my Loupedeck CT and one thing is weird for me but it is possible that it's normal. The rim on the navigation wheel seems a lil bit loose. Not so much just not as tight as I would expect it. Thanks for your answer!

    • @MatthewGore

    work with camera raw?

  • @westpalmbeachphotostudios66

    love the video, one issue I am having as a new user of the CT is when I touch a knob in Adobe Camera Raw, the image zooms into 100% despite having my global zoom to 33%. How do I keep this from happening? I have tried everything.

    • @MatthewGore
      @MatthewGore  Рік тому

      Hmm. That's something that I've never encountered. You might want to try making a new profile for Camera Raw; maybe there's some sort of conflict between the keystrokes uses in the one you're using. Unless it's mine, of course... then of course it's... ummm... the Loupedeck's fault.

    Loupedeck and tourbox Which one would you recommend

    • @MatthewGore
      @MatthewGore  3 роки тому

      It really depends on what you want to use it for. If you want something to help with RAW photo editing, I think that the Loupedeck is the better tool... though I find that I still don't use it for that very often. I tend to use the Tourbox because of its simplicity... but again, that's a matter of personal preference. I'd probably buy the Tourbox if I were buying.

    does that mean that if I go outside or up in the country with no internet it wont work in Photoshop?

    • @MatthewGore
      @MatthewGore  2 роки тому +1

      The Loupedeck should continue to work. Photoshop may or may not continue to work, since it constantly requires license verification via internet. The plugin that the Loupedeck uses to connect to Photoshop is something that is downloaded to your computer, so it will continue to work, but even after a year, it does still does not seem to automatically connect.

    Do you have a comparison video between the Loupedeck and the Tourbox? I'm interested in some kind of tool to help speed up my editing process in both Lightroom/Photoshop and Final Cut Pro

    • @MatthewGore
      @MatthewGore  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately, I do not. On the other hand, in the next few days I'm going to be publishing a video about the new Tourbox Elite (on Kickstarter, still), which you may find interesting. I still have the Loupedeck, but I don't use it. For me, it required too much attention to be drawn away from my main screen. I like the fact that once the Tourbox is in my hand, I don't need to look at it.

    • @SeanMisa
      @SeanMisa 2 роки тому

      @@MatthewGore That's really good to know. That's part of the reason why I'm looking back at these and seeing if anyone created a video which compared the two. The price isn't too much of a factor between these two, and I am more concerned about which would really work best and help optimize my time. I do create content professionally for my clients with both photos and videos. At first, I was all for the Loupedeck and just about to pull the trigger for it, but then I saw many posts recently about the Tourbox and I had to look into it. So far I'm impressed, and would love to see the pros and cons of each to see which would work best for my use

      @SeanMisa Рік тому

      @@karthikbhaskar7819 I ended up going with the Tourbox Elite and I love it! It works really great with Lightroom and Photoshop, but for Capture One, it does require a bit more work to get it working well. I feel it's still not as good as the native support for Lightroom, but it works. As for Final Cut Pro, it's the same issue when compared to Adobe Premiere. It's a little less tedious compared to Capture One

    The main goal of shortcuts is so that you don’t have to take your eyes from your work and you don’t have to use your mouse.. but with loupedeck you still have to look at what your doing because of the touchscreen and you still have to move your hand because of the bad ergonomics.. so what do you fix? It seems much slower than just using the mouse or keyboard shortcuts..

      It doesn’t really.. it’s no better than a keyboard. Tourbox does help because you can leave your hand in a natural position and don’t move it. Tourbox is the best purchase I have done in years and it speeds up my editing tremendously!

    • @MatthewGore

      Yes and No. There is no native support, but there is a custom profile available for Excel (loupedeck.com/en/profiles/) and you can MAKE a custom profile so that the Loupedeck will do anything that you could otherwise do with keyboard shortcuts. You can make a custom profile for any program that uses keyboard shortcuts, in fact :-)

      I'd say that about half of the controls on this thing can reliably be used by touch. The main wheel, of course, and all of the six adjustment knobs are pretty easy to find by touch... and if you used it enough, the buttons at the bottom probably would be too. Probably not the touch screens, and the round buttons in the middle would be tricky.
