Hello from Loupedeck and thanks for the comparison! Setting up Lightroom has fell behind compared to other supported plugins - mainly because of developing Loupedeck CT. All of the things you pointed out (Select Only Active, Opening dials and buttons for customization e.g. adding more features to export and other buttons AND macros) are on the to-do list and should be on the next couple of Loupedeck Software versions :)
Karo, thank you for the reply! That is great to hear. I would love to connect sometime and go over how programming software for other software works. I am willing to bet there's a lot of requests and complaints that people have that are just out of your hands. Regardless, I'm so excited to finally get to test it out and hope to work together again, soon.
@@rafograph854 : Select only active (named as "Delesect Other(s)") has been added. Also all the dials and normal buttons have been opened - so that you can assign what ever you want. Custom actions are not yet available for the Loupedeck+ or Loupedeck original. They will be available when Loupedeck+ and Loupedeck Original are moved to the new UI hopefully later this year :)
Seriously love this comparison video. Clear, concise, no BS. I also love that it's being reviewed by someone who is putting it to use real time. Honestly doesn't feel like that in a lot of videos. Thanks so much for this! I'm going to go buy the xtouch mini...
I am also a X Touch Mini/Midi2LR user. That combined with macros has sped up my workflow two fold. Can be a little tricky to get up and running but once set up it's amazing not to mention the low cost.
Loved the flow of the video! Every part is relevant and didn't lose my attention at any time, will probably go for the behringer because the loupedeck is 5x the price where i am atm and i like the buttons layout more
Another option you could try, if you dont have the room for a loupedeck at your work station is VSCO keys. This is a free program that is no longer supported, but is still working for me in the simple mode. It allows me to copy & paste settings, make adjustments of exposure & white ballance with the arrow keys, & gives me 10 short cut keys for presets. Used with the normal short cut keys in lightroom & some custom macro keys it gives me most of the functions i need to speed up my edits.
Thank you for another great review. I own both I just got the loupedeck + for Christmas , and one of the main reasons why I wanted it. It's because it did other programs as well. and I really like the way everything is already labeled. I just wish the knobs had indicators.
I’ve been using the x touch mini for over a year now. It’s a great tool! I’ve used the mapping that a forum member created and I even printed the accompanying sticker with all the symbols on top for both layers.
I had the Loujpe Deck + for a week and I was not impressed. I had to return it because the down arrow was sticking. I heard other users encounter a similar issue with the hardware. Maybe the new hardware release works better? WOW!!! they are expensive. Anyway I have the Tourbox heading my way. You present a nice alternative. I edit a LOT of weddings. I want a product specifically designed for photography. Thanks for the GREAT video:)
outstanding video, Alex! I'd love to see you do a video on the (even pricier) Loupedeck CT compared to the + as well. love the channel. keep up the great work.
Just tried MIDI2LR with my "Nektar Impact LX 2" piano controller for fun. Its ok. 9 sliders, 8 rotary knobs, +/- 80 single butons. Its much too big keyboard but it works.
I would love to see a video how do you set the Beringer, there are many videos about this topic but none of them does a good job explaining how the Beringer works
Well I'll be...I've been in Lightroom since version 3 and I've never used what is apparently an official function of settings copying + pasting. Thank you, William. This is a perfect example of the pitfalls of being self taught.
Out of the Fraser Mi, area. Great video man thx. Been on the fence with which one to get. Would love it if you did one on the newest version of loopdeck.
I use both together... along with a Logitech G13 keypad and Logitech G600 gaming mouse, lol. All four of these devices do certain things really well so I just throw them all together. Probably could streamline things a bit but it works. I've also used the BCR-2000 in the past but I don't think it's a good choice with the Loupedeck available now (I think it might be discontinued anyway). Also, just personal preference I guess but I greatly prefer the knobs on the Loupedeck for their smooth non-clicky movement and rubberized texture vs the slick, clicky knobs on the X-Touch.
Eyyyy. Setup twin. I, also, have a clusterf*** of devices including a very cherished G613. And I totally get that knob preference and knurled knobs would be so appreciated on the x-touch.
@@robhallphoto Like a Wacom tablet? I have an intuos medium, probably like 4 years old at this point. I have never used the buttons on it... not very many of them and I'm not crazy about the feel. I really only use it for retouching, I don't like a pen for anything else.
Interesting. I wonder how they would do with real estate edits. Is there Photoshop compatibility as well? I bounce between PS and LR for many of my architectural/real estate images.
Macros for Lightroom? I never heard about it. Can you explain more? Do you have a video about your best macros or the most useful ones? How do you set them?
I'm a X Touch Mini user (have been for a couple of years) I'd be very interested in seeing a video showing which functions you have programmed to which keys and dials on the Mini.
Great video but I already have the Loupedeck Plus and this video is very helpfully for those that don't, but i would like to see a video comparing the Plus and the Loupedeck CT. Because I don't want to see $500 if I don't need to. Thanks
I’ve seen the Loupdeck in and around the streets for a while now. That midi solution looks nice. But about that new Loupdeck CT? I’m getting some extra funds soon and want to known you alls take on that.
This was just the review I've been looking for for a long time! Do you know if and of the old MIDI software versions (or new) is compatible with MAC Yosemite 10.10.5?
Future Alex with a belated update: A lot of headaches started to pile up with the loupedeck, soon after filming. Switched back to midi2lr, and thanks to constant software updates I have been very happy since. Save yo money!
Hi Robert, thank you so much for the video, it's great. I need to ask you a question; I'm looking for a way to assign a specific brush or radial filter to. a. button. Can I ask you if you know how? is it possible to do this on both MIDI2LR and Loupedeck? thanks 🙏
What is best tool or device ergonomically for culling & cropping? That is the majority of my work flow for dance, but it’s killing my shoulder and neckThanks!
Late ass reply. But:Gaming controller! I do all my culling with a PlayStation controller and a program called DS4windows. I can honestly do about 80% of what I need on it. 0 hand or wrist pain no matter the session length! I am betting any cheapo controller would work the same, too, using other software.
Can you do a review on the newest loupedeck ct? Pretty much made up my mind that I was going to do a DIY solution with two midi controllers and add in labels and such. Definitely want to know how the newest loupedeck performs on capture 1. I use both Lr and c1 concurrently at times and definitely want a solution where I can use for both platforms.
Honestly, I make music for fun but haven't connected the x touch for it, yet. Maybe the music on my next video will be self produced, which.... Would...stand out...😅
Alex Guy Photo Ah, macOS only...I get you. VSCO Keys still works on most computers though and was easily my favorite when it was still being supported. I just use Keyboard Maestro to make PFixer work like I had my layout in VSCO Keys.
Dustin Francis - just looked at PFixer and Victoria Brampton article about it. Looked great first glance , until I realized all the info on PFixer site is at least 3 years old. “Works with OS10.10 & up...” When was it last updated?
Hello, in fact, I am a digital artist on Photoshop and I use a graphics tablet, and I have been looking for a while for a device that contains loops because they are more suitable for shortcuts than buttons, so what are the medium-priced devices that you advise me to buy? & thank you
How does the loupedeck CT compares to the plus. I don’t have much room on my desk and looking for a compact solution then something the size of my keyboard
I have Cap1 12 and just downloaded Version 20 to try Loupedeck and....its basically useless. I do see a midi converter that would likely work with this controller but I bet it wont be ideal! Seriously, though, I wish Cap 1 had controller support. Last piece in the puzzle of switching from LR.
Nothing official for the midi controller, though there's an app called Biome that I might explore for a Jerry rigged setup. But Loupedeck is still in beta and it leaves a lot to be desired. I'm told this is due mostly to Phase One being so reserved with API support. Which is sad because I truly love Capture One and one of the things I like most is it's customizability.
It took me some time to customize and get used to the behringer, so even if the loupedeck speeds up my editing by 10%, how much time will I loose getting accustomed to it?
Just depends on how much someone edits. For instance, if your example of 10% is on a 5-hour wedding edit, that is already a half-hour saved. That's already 25+ hours saved for ME, personally, in just a year, for something I would be adapted to in 1-2 hours. The biggest question is IF the Loupedeck can deliver savings beyond what the Behringer provides and that is sadly difficult to track.
