Will definitely be looking at this model because nothing lives forever and my experience shows me that any money spent on a Leatherman is hands down money well spent! Thank you for the info!!
My son and I added a bunch of upgrades to his Traxxas RC 4x4 today....we used my Leatherman Wave with the bit drivers and bit extension arm. I never leave home without that setup. 10 years and still use it.
Not sold on it yet, the magnets would be a problem for me, as I carry a light in the same pocket. I'm also not sold on the need to have all the tools external, and my charge and signal flip one handed open no problem.
Easy access to bad tools is not an improvement. If this had the Wave's toolset, I'd buy it. But that file is too short to be useful, and the 3 flat-head drivers (plus a phillips) manage to be both redundant and fail to provide the same utility as the Wave's bit exchanger. There are things I'd change about the Wave's tools, but this is clearly a step backwards.
Jon I haven’t used the new one but the bit exchanger is quite handy on the wave. I did buy the t2 but damn is it hard to open that knife. He made it look easy but trust me it’s a bitch when you do it over and over.
Had Waves, a Blast, a mini Cs still lives on my keys despite a snapped blade, I also own a Gerber suspension but I only bought that as a comparison, it rarely sees use.
the jaws might be the hardest made, but the weakness seems to be at the hinges with the handles, Ive seen broken handles at the hinge a lot, not with the wave.
I was excited and ready to upgrade from my Wave to the P4 but won't buy one because they left off the bit driver. That is the most important feature for a multi tool, to be MULTI, that includes bits!
