  • Rounding out Leatherman’s revolutionary Free Series of magnetic multi-tools, the K-Series offers a new spin on the trusty pocket knife.
Leatherman made waves this year when it unveiled the Free Series - magnetic waves, that is. By adding magnets into the tool’s architecture, Leatherman engineers introduced one-handed operation into the pliers-based multi.
Is this the right pocket knife for you? It seems the K Series will work great for those who either don’t want to shell out the $120-$140 for a P Series, or who just don’t need that many tools. There are higher-end pocket knives out there who really require a long-lasting, hard blade. But for the generalist who needs a knife and some occasional daily tools, the K Series provides an easier-to-use option over Leatherman’s pocket knife predecessors.

I picked one up two days ago and it's my EDC knife now. I thought the handle was going to be too bulky, but it actually feels good in the hand when using the knife. So far I'm a fan.

I own the entire Free Line I'm really liking what Leatherman is doing with the Free Line. The K series works better as a sheath carry for me so I removed the pocket clip. For those that dislike the Free series for not including a bit adapter theres very well made aftermarket bit adapters that are easy to install.

Not a convex blade. It is a hollow ground blade which would make it a concave blade.

Put magnets on any tool, put it in your pocket with something metal and pull it out. What do you get??

Will the magnets on that thing mess with your smartphone?

No, your phone uses a technology called "solid state storage" so it is unaffected by magnets. The only magnet you would need to be concerned about is one so powerful it pulls the screws out of the phone, but a magnet with that strength would be too heavy to package anyways.
