I do think the one where disputes are settled on the waves is a good one. It's okay to steal someone's loot, as long as they're at sea. But that's just my opinion, if people want to be like that, who am I to stop them?
Setting up an ambush or attacking a crew on an island is equally allowed. 'Disputes settled on the waves' doesn't mean literally at Sea, just anywhere where a fair fight can resolve it, as opposed to taking the fight online to messages or forums or something.

blunderbuss is not a shotgun technically speaking, but it the terms of gameplay it makes no difference, they both shoot a widespread of shot, they are both considered the deadliest close quarter firearms of their respective times, crying because you got one shot by the guy that had to get within a metre just shows how stupid those idiots are, props to whoever is ballsy enough to sneak onto the enemy ship IMO

I started the game a couple of hours ago with a friend.
We caught the same users 4 times in our little ship, I died 4 times, killing 9 times.
My ship sank 3 times and saved only 1.
In 3 hours of play I lost an ashy key found by fishing and I don't know how many chests. If having 4, 2 new people is fun for you, then you definitely have mental problems.
Ruining others' games in this way is not good for anyone.
By the way, you only remove future allies or adventure companions, for what? Boredom? Are you really so bad that you have to settle for noobs?

PanConManteca 06 I agree when it comes to respecting them, but I actually recommend attacking noobs, experience is the best teacher. It’s how I taught my friend. If we saw a brig while we were in a sloop I would tell him, “stock up we going to battle.” And sure enough a few days later him and I were taking on the new bosses together flawlessly (mostly).
I can sense it sort of decrease new players count a bit for those who just start their day, and got confused when people loot them out of nowhere after a hard day just like he explains^^

@@xbox7113 I remember a couple months ago, I was doing a tall tale, was on like my 5th hour, the server merged, and it broke the tall tale so I couldn’t complete it. Worst feeling ever. Even worse than the time I sank to a kraken with a bunch of loot.

Blunder buss is annoying as hell, but fairly easy to counter after some getting used to. Just need to be stealthy when boarding and use your sword for hopping away when you see they are using the blunder.
All you have to do is predict and after some time you will see people the patern

Honestly, I'm perfectly fine with the idea of being able to steal loot and have loot stolen from me but I do feel like there is a fine line between playing the game and being a jerk. I have never understood what is fun about seal clubbing new players or sinking ships for the sake of being an asshole. If anything, some of my favorite experiences are from helping sloops and newer players fight off skeleton ships and reapers. Acting completely against expectations with no obvious benefit, then the appreciation that comes afterward, in my opinion, is much better than pub stomping all day.
I only sink ships when they attack me or I’m bored and I seek to challenge myself I’m never salty about it they kill me it’s usually my fault I just need to get better most of the time I’m relatively new but I’m decent I use the blunder because I’m good in 1v1 CQC I’m also decent with a pistol play how you want but don’t body newbies that just spawned have some class and respect
Right, I get your point. But what about this scenario. While being tailed by a sloop, you've fought an npc sloop, and you're fighting a meg, when said player sloop sails by danger close. Only to find about 20 seconds later, the guy from the sloop is under your ship with his bucket out, but he's obviously spying your cargo. Do you let him "help", bare in mind there was ZERO communication so he is basically trespassing, or do you cut that mothertrucker down? I cut him down. I don't need no help, and even if I did, he could operate in the confines of his own ship. There was a good chance he was waiting until i offed the meg, hoping I don't see him if I got another hit from the meg, then he kills me and sets my ship away.
Seal clubbing new players are absolutely not something new and its been there on other pvp games but due to this game title has a word "thieves" in it, it give them the excuse to do so
In this game, a heart of gold sinks your ship.
Today a galleon saved me from a Kraken while I was solo slooping. In thanks for them not yeeting my ass into oblivion, so they got paid. Remember kids, always show mercy. Unless they shoot first then burn everything of theirs.

Also, gotta love those people complaining when using certain weapons... Blunderbuss in SoT or like the Minigun in GTA...
It's mainly PC players. They can do things that xbox players can't. For example, when a PC player climbs the ladder and you shoot them with a blunderbuss while they are still near the bottom of the ladder, they can still somehow, jump on the boat. They can also shoot then grab the ladder again when getting shot. Amazing how they can do that when it takes time to take out your weapon. The sword dash, why is it when I do it, it takes a full 2 seconds to recover after a miss but its takes a PC players a split second to recover after a miss? They can turn run and swim faster. I guess the Ping really does matter. I dont really run into remote controlled PC gamers.
@@calamarbronx83 actually that's all false, I play on PC and belive me everything we do you can do it on Xbox as well, I guess it's just becouse player on PC are actually better then Xbox players simply becouse we have played for longer than an average Xbox player. So at the end it's a matter of experience and not hardware.
@@illicitline4552 that's a complete lie. PC players can also swim backwards at full speed. PC players have the advantage because of that Ping. And no, PC players can do more than xbox players. Xbox players cannot jump in mid air while getting shot off the ladder.

Exactly! You always have to remember that this game lacks a lot of content. I love this game, but many just find fu. In murdering people and plundering loot. I’ve just finished all tall tales, and am moving to this play style of just murdering and stealing.
When I single sloop with no loot and I get tailed by a Galleon with the reapers flag on across the map you know people have too much time on their hands

Pirating is a fundamental part of SoT, it always has been, and probably always will be. You might think that this is an opinion, but it is simply fact. The devs have even said this, and if they wanted it changed, they would’ve changed it by now. If you want to only do the pve, then do that. Just don’t complain when you get attacked by pirates in a pirate game. Sea of Thieves is a game where you chart your own course, and if people want to be a thief in Sea of THIEVES, then they should be able to do that.

I gave up with this game tried to play it solo as none of my friends liked it and I started playing and within 20 minutes of figuring out the mechanics for the boat I got attacked by 4 players over and over again when there wasn't any loot and it just ruined the whole exp

Meanwhile my experiance with the comunity has only been someone opening fire on my ship when i just loaded in after tutorial before i could even get on it then the two man crew taunted me saying they can easily kill me, good times
That sounds like most of my login experiences.
The past 2 days i couldn't make it further than 2-3 islands, before some random ship spotted me, chased me and sunk me, while i was doing a quest or didn't even get the chance to get loot. I'm sick and tired of server hopping because it's just the same shit over and over again, and restocking your new ship every hour is boring and annoying.
@@tsunamie1015 I wish I had that experience. I would love to have some casuals try to attack me, so I could have some pvp. Every sever I join is always dead silent besides a couple new players in sloops who can't figure out how to get onto their ship.

@@tsunamie1015 You probably already know about these but here are 2 tricks to help not loose your loot. If you're solo slooping just turn into the wind with your sails facing the wind. No matter what ship they are in they won't be able to catch you. If you have loot, then try to get your ship a row boat. When I was a newer player, if I was chased by a biger crew I would put all loot in my rowboat. Then sail by a outpost and detach the rowboat to row it to the outpost. In my experience the people chasing you wil keep on your ship that's sailing away and not you in the rowboat.

They were ruthless but even they had a code. It was the rule of parley and if ignored when called apon would result in dishonor and hate in the pirating community.

Ye ppl who get daily about blunder just need to adapt. If someone is using it they will either have to pull it out before you get close or let you get the first hit with your sword. If they don't have it in hand you can stun lock them if they do back up and shoot with the longer range gun I assume anyone who hates the blunder is using

Actual pirates did keep to a pirate's code, because sailing a galleon in real life is far harder than sailing a ship in this game. A well organized crew that kept to a few rules was the only way to actually succeed at piracy. They even had a hierarchy, with officers getting more share of the bounty. If they didn't keep to a code, they would get their ass handed to them by more organized navy ships. Also, most pirates were essentially mercenaries, depending on letters of marque, and were mainly privateers.

i love the sea of thieves community, me and my friend started a week ago and were duo gallioning for a joke and some guys on a brig came up and asked "hey are you guys new" and we explained what we were doing and stuff and i said that i wanted to get that 20k gold covenant flag thing (its 1am and i dont remember what its called) and this dude straight up gave us 30k worth of treasure and a rank 3 trader flag and said "go but one dude we just finished a massive voyage no worries". i truly love how nice some of the people are on this game

Its more along the lines of when theres a feature in a game that someone will almost always win with unless you also do the same thing they are it makes the game alot less enjoyable. Because now your forced to play like them or continually lose. And that sucks.
And in situations like sot the blunderbus being a 1 hit kill at close range makes it especially abusable for players who are on the game alot more and are better than people who arent on it as much.
Sure skill should be merrited in games. But there should never be features/attributes/exploits that make it to where casual players have basically no chance against the people who play more frequently. Thats bad game design. And thats exactly what the blunderbus does in sot. People who play alot, and know the game better are pretty much untouchable to casual players when using the blunderbus.
it doesnt help that the shotgun in this game loads like the rest of the guns, ever single gun is a front loader, one shot reload, with 5 rounds, since a blunderbuss uses more ammo a possible nerf could be using more ammo per shot but then it isn't worth having at all, when every gun only has one shot the most power per shot kinda just wins, and since it is a pirate game range isn't your friend, especially since the sniper has no range, the pistol is meant to be middle of the road I guess but it just lacks any features, the sniper has better accuracy with a clear scope view but feels claustrophobic in close range, the blunderbuss has more raw damage but no range at all... they are kind of balanced but in a game where you want to get on a ship and take loot the absolute lethality of the shotgun at close range means you can essentially storm a ship and a player that either isn't using the shotgun or isn't experienced with it basically doesn't stand a chance, it isn't the only way to win, but when I was getting griefed by a full brig the shotgun was the first thing I grabbed to defend myself since it was just so good at getting people away from me, a smart player just knows when to change the distance and that puts you back at square one. The game is a strange hybrid of competitive and casual gameplay, where I prefer to turn my brain off and just enjoy the aesthetic and the fun of sailing, other people master the weapons and create strategies to take on ships and steal loot, which is an entirely valid playstyle just not everybodies playstyle, it turns me off of the bigger things since i play solo my chances of countering something like that are slim if not zero. The game is less unfair as it is assymetric, some players are more experienced and skilled, and they earn that, other players just wanted to sail around or get loot and not engage with pvp at all, the pve players are essentially merchants, and in a game about pirating the last thing you want to be is a merchant.
I think it would be cool to see peacekeepers pirates and merchants establish themselves, you have what is essentially the navy going after pirates specifically, pirates going after everyone, and merchants trying to just get by unscathed, we have two of those and I am not sure we will ever see some kind of authority develop among players but it would be interesting, differing each other with flags would be a neat way to tell them apart though. Just a little idea I thought of now...

As a newbie, shortly after leaving the tutorial mission, my ship was sunk while it was docked (and I was looking at all the clothes lol), and I was like "Noooo the cooodeee! The precious code!". I got back to my ship, not realizing how to repair or scoop water, and just played a ditty as it went down.
I've also called Athena's Kegs, the "Green Mist of Death" they can be felt by a ship as far as between 20-35 meters under the sea in the Sea of Thieves, and cause holes.
Honestly go ahead and use the blunderbuss, it's not that hard to counter if you know what you're doing

Im one of those gamers that actually enjoy the pvp and the pve of SoT. I love that feeling of always having to be aware and on guard but I can't stand toxic players that spawn kill cause I'm a stubborn individual that will keep coming back for more. I’m more of a PVP when necessary player. I’d rather just sail along and do my own thing. But if I see a ship coming towards me, you better believe I’m standing my ground.

Fun fact about the blunderbuss. If you are named the same name as me the blunderbuss will always miss no matter how few inches away you are and how centered your reticle is on your targets chest.

I like running blunder/fire bombs for crowd control. Mostly because they don’t require reload and have better range than a blunder. I use a sword for close range combat because most of the pirates that use the blunder I meet blow their load too fast if you catch my drift, so I just hack and slash when they’re in the middle of a reload. Finally I carry a flintlock for fleeing enemies or to detonate barrels at a distance.
Dude my first experience on sea of thieves when I literally just started sailing my sloop was getting absolutely railed by a reaper galleon and having several mermaid Sapphire and emeralds as well as a couple chess I had on board stolen and me being slaughtered repeatedly while being called slurs.... And I love it, I spent the entire rest of the session trying to hunt them down

A blunderbuss is a distant ancestor to the modern shotgun. If you get shot point blank by a shotgun in any game you die instantly. I use the flintlock just because it looks cool and I use my sword mainly anyway.

My mates and I utterly obliterated a galleon on a single sail by bombardment of cannons and looted them was so satisfying didn’t even see the guys again and a bonus actually ended up stealing their skull quest too 😂

I'm quite respectful of new players, I board their ship while they're firing at mine, show them how to properly aim a cannon and when to fire, then launch myself back onto my ship with all of their bombs and cursed shots.

I just find it annoying when I'm just minding my own business vibin with my friends while fishing and someone decides to kill us for no reason even though we have nothing. But then again what would you expect

What i like about this whole thing is that theres literally no penalty in this game for dying other than your ship sinks. You might lose your loot, but a couple of voyages (and if youre feeling spicy, a sneaky powder keg or two) can fix that right up. I dunno, people should play this game to have fun.

It’s okay to play like a pirate but don’t target a crew for no other reason than to cause sadness or anger, and if someone sails past you not provoking you just doing tall tales. That’s not like a pirate

The respect new pirates and there voyage ahead means new CREWMATES not other crews. If you have a new player in your crew be nice and teach them, that's what it means but some people think it dosent even though this game is massively about PvP aswell as pve so you can attack other crews of newbies but be nice to your own newbies
