    I'm going to Aveda right now and we have such an amazing instructor that does so well with teaching and working with all the different "learning types" so that the information is getting through to everyone and pays so much attention to the "feel" in the classroom to determine whether to change from lecturing theory from study slides or hands on learning such as practicing facials, massages, treatments, waxing etc. We received an iPad in all of our kits and that is what we access the aveda learning website from so that we can write our notes (which looks just like a workbook page notes) and study slides but we also received a workbook if we want to use that instead/also.
    We recently had "Industry Day" where many owners, leads (spa leads), and estheticians came in to allow us to market ourselves and check out the different spas in the area and what they have to offer. Everyone was so nervous, we dressed up as if going to an interview and found out that those owners and leads were actually just as nervous to talk about their spas and success as we were nervous to talk to them. They all were eager and interested to hire new estheticians even as front desk until we got licensed. I actually talked with 2 spas that want to have an interview with me now. It was such a good idea and a great opportunity that we were given.
    I do have a bit of education from college experience prior me starting at Aveda that I can use towards getting my nursing license and become a nurse aesthetician and work in or even own a med spa. Which would be bank really. But ya, thank you for sharing your experience and you didnt ramble. I always ramble so that's why this comment is so long. Sorry!

    Every state is so different and some states now require be a doctor to do injections, I would not recommend go to medical assistance or just nurse to do injections, the chances that you will need doctor degree for that soon is high. Especially do not go for esthetician career with Botox/injections future intentions, it’s not that field. Do not go to esthetician if you want to do make up, or hate doing skin care, it’s cosmetology path. Go for esthetician if you are sole proprietor oriented, if you are love skin (not a makeup etc), this career is requiring to know what you want in the future, and it’s not like something that stagnant, every day new things coming up, trends and other stuff that people will ask you at the appointments, need constant learning and live that lifestyle.

    • @Asiatina_
      @Asiatina_  Рік тому

      You definitely have a point but most states require you to have a doctor that represents your establishment. To do injections you have to be a registered nurse. I highly doubt they will take away the ability for nurses to do injections because doctors don’t like doing the messy work. It’s definitely a big commitment to go to nursing school just to do injections but there’s really no other way. There’s a lot you can and can’t do with an esthetics license and for some it’s not worth it 100%. But it really depends on the person and like you said, it’s definitely best to know what you want to do before getting the license but we’re human and unfortunately it doesn’t always work out that way. Thank you for you input love 💗

    That was a really interesting new perspective on medical esthetics I hadn't heard, cause like a ton of other people said, it's so hard to find info on it!
    I would like to do injections, filler, etc, but I really don't wanna go very far into the medical field and the education and time and money I would have to put into that would be way too much in comparison to medical esthetics, since it's my biggest interest anyway. I figure I'll go through with medical esthetics because I really wanna be able to perform advanced chemical peels, microneedling, that kinda stuff

      You truly have to have your sights set on injections to go the full RN route just for med aesthetics. I agree its totally a lot of schooling for that one sector. Stella Richiee Honestly I’d look up machines and how they function, and their benefits online. And know skin, especially acne really well. And I would study product ingredients. Know a lot about peels, product ingredients, different machines like HydraFacial, laser, Botox/filled etc. and know about prescription acne medication. You’ll find working in the medi Esthetics that a lot of people use over the counter prescription medications. Know their contraindications etc. I wouldn’t buy a book, just do online research.

    I started looking into esthetician courses actually because of dermatology videos. Theres an esthetician channel I follow and shes amazing. Mainly she shows the removal of blackheads and things like that. I dont know much about makeup but growing up with bad skin this is something I became interested in. Even though I know nothing about makeup/skin now and I really want to focus on cleaning and helping with skin conditions do u think I should continue looking into schooling?

    • @Asiatina_

      That sounds amazing. The field of Esthetics has so many paths and avenues you can go down it really depends on what you want to do. You can do anything from skin, to lashes, waxing, specializing in a field, dermatology esthetician. So if your passion is transforming skin I say go for it!! Be prepared go work very hard and understand this is a very very competitive industry. Hope this helps.

    I'm a medical assistant and it's not what I thought it was going to be. It's hard to get into a dermatology office or plastic surgeon office unless you know somebody, jobs are more lenient if you are fluent in Spanish (I live near Miami and my Spanish is intermediate but I speak creole fluently). The places that pay more will take somebody that speaks no English but fluent in Spanish over somebody that is fluent in English but mediocre in Spanish. The pay is horrible for the amount of work you do, you do the job of a nurse for $10-15/hr pay and a lot of companies will try to fight you to not get $15/hr during the interview unless you have 5 years of experience or if you work at a derm. or plastic surgery office. Target employees in my area get paid $14/hr starting off. I have 2 almost 3 years of experience being an M.A and phlebotomist and nobody wanted to pay me at least $16hr (side note I also have a B.S in health science). So now I'm going to school to be an esthetician so that I can have the potential to grow (especially in pay), work in a field that seems to be fun (that I can potentially be my own boss) and not have to answer to any rude doctors. My end goal was to become a Physician Assistant but my experience in the medical field has made me lose my passion a bit but we will see what the future holds.

    Don’t want to be the Debby downer here but....... I went to school to be an MA. Completed the schooling and couldn’t find any MA job. No office would take my “internship” as experience. The majority of jobs I found wanted 5+ years experience and even stated that internships and externships don’t count. I wasted 12 grand on something I still haven’t been able to use and it’s been like ten years. Unless you know people working in doctor offices or hospitals don’t waste your money it’s not worth it. I'm in Washington state. I hear all these good things about having ur RN with a master esthetician license. But what if u only have LPN and CMA and don't plan on going back to get ur RN? I've been interested in enrolling in a local beauty school that offers a master esthetician program, it's actually only mile down the road. And I'm really wondering if I should take a master esthetician course 9months long or just a regular esthetician course approx. 3 to 4 months long but it's out of town and over 30 mins away. I really have my mind set on being a esthetician but I just don't know what's going to make me stand out more in this line of work...

What advise can you give to a Cosmetologist looking into Medical Aesthetic? From my understanding is the boards will shave off hours on a aesthetics program but I’m all about saving money so maybe I can do medical assistant program and that will make me look more hire able for a med spa?
    Sorry working in the Medical Aesthetic world is super new to me.

      So if I understand properly you’re a cosmo but want to transition into the world of esthetics without having to fully go and get the remainder of the esthetician license. So I speak solely for California your state may have different rules. What you could do is specialize in something typically categorized under the Esthetics department as a cosmo. For example you could do lashes, or you could specialize as a brow waxer, tinter, etc. I’m not sure if you’re allowed to do facials but I’d look to see what you can perform in your scope. As far as medical esthetics you’d have to be an Esthetician or Medical Assistant. They will not accept you just with your cosmo license. If that’s the area you’d like to be in, I would just go back to school and finish your esthetics program or think of being an MA. All depends on what type of services you want to be offering. Hope this was helpful.

I’m currently a MA at a derm office and looking for going more into my career, it’s a lot of work for not that great of pay but I’m very interested in being an medical aesthetician bc I’m obsessed with skin care and I wanna help ppl with acne and etc bc I know the struggles of having horrible skin growing up. I'm sorry for the late reply. Honestly as an esthetician the pay isn't great. You truly have to love it and be resilient in order to succeed. If you can do the RN route and go into medical aesthetics as a nurse I would go that route. BUT, if you're passionate and are willing to scrap for years to build a clientele then aesthetics can be your passion. Thanks for watching

      No, medical aesthetician take the same classes and have the same license as a regular esthetician. The only way you will take those classes are if you go to nursing school to become an aesthetics nurse where you can you on deeper layers of the skin

    Hi, I am almost an RN and would like to get into the aesthetics later down the road. Do I get certificates to do procedures ex. cool sculpting, eyelash extensions, pmu, brows,facials, waxing? Or would I have to go esthetician school?

    • @Asiatina_
      @Asiatina_  3 роки тому

      Hey girl,
      Thanks for watching! To answer your question it depends on your state. Because you will be an RN cool sculpting, micro needling, and most 'skin penetrating' modalities you will be able to do just under your RN license. (At lease in California) To do lash extensions, waxing and facial you would need a esthetician license that would cover it all. You do not need certifications on top of your licenses if you know how to do the service or can find someone to train you. Most of the time you just get those certs because you paid to learn how to actually do the service. I hope this helps!

      An esthetics license is all the same. Some states require less hours to get license and some require more. Florida requires significantly less than say Colorado or Utah (600hrs) while others require even more than that. It isnt separated into luxury or non. You can get your nursing degree and be an esthetic nurse doing injectables, you can be an esthetician working in a spa giving facials, waxing, hair lightening, hair tinting, you can get hired at a laser center and be taught on specific equipment, you can start your own business doing makeup and skincare treatments. There are certainly many options an routes which you can choose.

    • @Asiatina_
      @Asiatina_  4 роки тому

      As far as I am aware you can only do Botox and fillers if you are a registered nurse, or LVN in some states. Being an esthetician and just having some random certification will not make you legally allowed to perform injections. With that being said if you are a
      RN or medical professional you can really perform anything you want, so long as you’re licensed in your state to perform that. So the combo won’t interfere is that makes sense.
      Hope this response wasn’t confusing. Thank you for watching 💖

    hey girl! good for you for going into get your nurse degree!
    i'm actually an RN and decided to go to esti school so i could learn more about facials and other treatments.\
    i dont think it's been a waste but a lot of self-teaching, like you said...
    being in a med-spa setting, how would you recommend i market myself? i don't only wanna do botox/fillers... but i feel w/ my career background, i either have to decide branding myself as an esti in order to do facials etc or brand myself as an RN & have to focus on botox/fillers...

    • @Asiatina_
      @Asiatina_  4 роки тому

      Sorry for the late reply. You absolutely do NOT have to do just one or the other. If I were you I'd focus on the highest cost items you can do and hire someone to just do facials if that's what you want. If I were in your situation I'd market an "___ ___ Aesthetics" Offering Botox, fillers, Chemical Peels, LHR, IPL, etc etc. If you really want to do some Esty's things, charge a little more and add on a facial, or soothing mask, etc. just to make it "extra" for them. Honey you have all the power to do whatever you want. You do not need to choose one or the other. 💖

      I apologize for the late reply. My advice is finish school, try getting a job in a Med Spa or a spa that offer a couple Med type modules. such as (regenerate, micro-current, ultra sonic exfoliator) things like that and work on building you're resume. Also, check out the job listings for MA's in you're area and see how much experience they require. If a lot of them are willing to take new MA's then that's a good sign. If not work on getting some experience first because that will count more than going to school again. If that makes sense. 💖 Thank you for your comment. Best wishes

    hi! i just graduated, i’m a certified medical assistant & i am about to start work at a clinic. i want to work as a medical esthetician, would you recommend just going to school for esthetician & just apply as a medical esthetician? lol i’m just lost. i want to take the easiest route! i eventually want to go back for RN so i can become an aesthetic nurse, but i want to get my foot in the door for rn. thank you!

    • @Asiatina_
      @Asiatina_  4 роки тому +3

      So I can only speak for California. If I were you, I would apply to Derms Offices, Plastic Surgery offices, maybe MedSpas if they seek an MA and see if you can get in the door that way. Have you ever worked retail selling skincare/cosmetics? Add that to your resume. If your end goal is to be an RN for Aesthetics, I'd just start doing that now and not waste your time going to Esthetics school. Reason being is that you're gonna make WAY WAY More money as an RN and there's no point in accumulating additional debt from Esthetics School. Just always be on the hunt of a job at a Derms office or Plastic Surgeons office. A lot of the time they want experience. So just get MA experience, always keep and eye out for an Aesthetics related job, and go to school to be an RN. You GOT IT GIRL!! 💖

      It honestly depends on your state. In California I know the laws vary. I wouldn’t spend money on a certificate unless your job requires you too. Don’t purchase any certifications unless mandating by your employer. And 9x’s out of 10 they’ll pay for it.

      To become an Esthetician you'll need to go to a trade(cosmetology/esthetic school). To get the "Medical Aesthetics" title, you just get that from working in a Medical setting. Whether that be in a Derms office or Med Spa. If you're in college like Amy said, you just major in Nursing and work at a Med Spa or Derms as a RN.

    Thanks so much,this reset 2019 video your makeup looks beyond Flawless beautiful olive-skinned I would like to know if you could do a video that shows what some of the supplies will be needed and the proper setup to pass your exam I know each state has different but if you see different states go through it it will kind of get you prepared I know this with PSI Bill State you have to bring like a robe and you have to bring two sets of sheets and I need to know if that is the case what type of sheets is it like a flat sheet fitted sheet and with the road does it have to be a terry cloth type of Road I've been thinking about it and taking up esthetician School however it seems like a lot of UA-cam videos that I see where people say they start off and not making anything and personally I got a problem and having to take out a loan to pay somebody 5 to $9,000 and not be able to get out and start recouping at least over 98% of that ASAP so what are your views on that and did you get a chance to work with Dermalogica products and if so how did you like it finally I like to know have you gotten a chance to work with the different vitamin C vitamin E serum send what is your views on that I also want to ask one other question what is your view on apprenticeship versus going to school thank you so much for posting this new video and I hope that you will make more enjoy your summer thanks a lot😎😎🤔🤔🤔🤓😇🤠🤡🤔.

    • @Asiatina_
      @Asiatina_  5 років тому

      Thank you for all the sweet comments. As far as apprenticeship as far as I know there’s no such thing. You HAVE to have a license to work on people. Dermalogica has its good products and decent products, I find that there’s better out there. For Vitamin C and E serums I personally as choosy on who I use them on because a lot of people’s skin can’t handle it, and when I use it for a mask I like the powder to liquid ones. And with making money, like I mentioned in the video it’s very rare you’ll make a lot of money starting out. First you need to have clientele. Because that’s everything, and 99% people don’t have full books straight out of school and if they do they probably work at a corporation and don’t get paid a lot. So this career doesn’t make a lot of money starting out, if ever! It’s all about the hustle. I can definitely make a video showing people how to pass state board. I’m in California so I only know and have heard of the requirements here, so I’ve never needed to know about sheets or anything like that. Hope this answers your questions 💖

      thank you for getting back with me when I was speaking about the sheets that is in your PSI where you have to have a sheet to covers I guess the table to do your particular client in Michigan you get to use a mannequin I was asking about the different products cuz you know they have a Kylie Jenner that's not all that great I've heard them a logical is one of the greatest I think you for being honest I always like to ask people's opinion of of Ben license as a manicurist over 28 years since being a teenager stopped at for a while and you can do apprenticeships different states offer different things but 100% it does exist and when you train under someone you don't have to pay a fee just to be trained you only pay to have your exam and you pay to get the actual license that's about it so I think I'll start researching if there is some apprenticeships I think you for giving me better inside of that because they do exist in the state of Michigan so what it's about is being a silly train Hands On Learning different techniques hands on and if you pass with whoever is teaching you then you're also is license esthetician and of course I'm speaking for the state of Michigan in might be slightly different in other states so I can respect that I do wish you a lot of great success I hope that you will go back and obtain your instructors license because that's the most valuable it's one that I know you can make very good in it so have a blessed week and a prosperous time take care,😎😎💆🏼💆🏻💆🙋🏻🙋🏼🙋.
