Hi love your energy I am a skin therapist based in the UK , which is more on the medical side. I'm planning on training in medical tattooing which involves working with breast cancer survivors and burn victims which is another field to add to your list. I agree that specialising in the area you enjoy the most is the best way to go. I would also add massage therapist to your list with so many different massage techniques and routines it can be an intersting choice as you learn about different cultures and the holistic side of self care and beauty.
@@andrealitchmore hi thanks so much for enjoying my content and watching allll the way from the UK. I agree with you on the massage therapist part alot of estys i know went back to take those specialty classes and loves it 💞💞💞
In my personal opinion, I think specializing in one field of esthetics is the best route to go. Become and expert in that field and become the go-to person. I am actually talking about this subject briefly in my next video. Great information Shavon!
I totally agree!! I i do believe “Niche’n” is very beneficial to grow at a faster pace to be known in your area for something then branching off into other things. 💕
When you say specializing do you mean say for example am interested in skin care so instead of esthetician school I can take skin care course in esthetician school to get my skin care tech certification instead of going there for the whole esthetician program
I’m so glad I came across this video I took a lash class and hated it. I worked in dermatology and got intrigued about skin specially melanated skin . A lot of people don’t know how to treat our skin or denies services because they don’t know how to treat our skin. I took a contour class and am practicing now and start esthetic school in a few months . My boyfriend is a tattoo artist and a lot of his clients ask for pmu so I also think I’m going to dabble in a bit of everything
I got my esthetician license in September, I currently work at EWC and I wanna leave and do my own thing. All I do is waxing all day but I really miss doing facials, pmu and body sculpting. I can’t wait to learn and do more
That’s honestly another reason why i chose the solo route in the beginning because I definitely wanted to have the option to do whatever service i wanted to. Honestly its fun to find your niche and figure out which service you are good at. 💕 goodluck on your journey
It’s definitely not enough to cover your rent, they are literally very nasty to their workers also you’ll have to train for only 3 days@@mackenziecampbell7165
I hope to start esthetician school next month . I'm just stuck on which school in my area that I want to go to. I want to specialize in medical . After esthetician and getting my license, I want to do RN so I can work as an RN in a dermatology office and maybe open my own practice 🙃 very big goals. Your channel is awesome and I look up to u with these things ! Thank u for sharing 💓
Thank you so much for your comment I appreciate it and glad you find my content helpful💕 you can definitely accomplish what you mentioned in a short period of time so stay with it!!
I started off doing waxing, facial and brow treatments but I aim to take my career to medical aesthetics, I am currently in school doing body therapy so I can start doing these as well. I also did eyelash extentions but I didn't like it so I stopped plus you take so long just to make that money, in cayman they charge $150CI to $200CI, but I could make that money in a short period of time doing other treatments compared to doing eyelash extentions. Thank you for always inspiring me Shavon. ❤ 😍
Yesss i love medical esthetics!! And girlllll whew lashing will have your body broke down 😩 i agree, i can make that same money doing a different service in less time. Im so glad my content inspires you and thanks so much for being a subscriber❤️ remember if you want to attend webinar you can join on Feb 2nd or 3rd for free for 3days
Love this! There’s a new esthetician school being built near me, updated on everything they even made their own updated new book for when you get ready to take state test! Also they are adding certifications this time all one one, like lashes, spray tan, teeth whitening, so I don’t have to go & pay extra outta pocket for those courses! This inspires me to be my own boss!
Wowww this is so amazing and so helpful for students and beginners , i realize i may want to start an institute on my own just to offer everything for the students 😩🙏🏽 maybe one day💕
Thank you so much for the information! I’m in AZ🌵and I actually took a few PMU classes first and decided to go to esthetician school shortly after. AZ doesn’t currently require an esthetician license to practice PMU just blood borne certification. I just finished school and I’m currently waiting to sit for state boards but I have been able to get a salon suite as a PMU Artist and will definitely continue with PMU, lashes, and corrective skincare once licensed.
Heyyy you are welcome and i absolutely love PMU work and wonder sometimes if i should focus more on it but dont want to neglect my first love for skincare treatments😂 Goodluck on your journey💕
Currently watching your videos while I’m in Esthi school, I’m learning how to do eyelash extensions right now after I master this I plan on learning how to microblade eyebrows 🥰🙌🏽
Hi! I found your video very informational thank u! I am a senior in high school right now and applied to esthetic school at a local community college…. Im really exited! I start this fall. ❤❤
Hiiii Shavon! I’m Nayelis, I’m 20 years old and are also a mother of two boys ages 2 and 4. I’m at a place now where I want to become somebody especially to provide for my boys. I love beauty and just the whole idea of taking care of your skin WITH education involved. Like not just doing something but also knowing what you’re doing and see results. How did you know that being an esthetician was something you wanted/could do? This video was helpful for me as I learn what exactly I desire to do in this field! Thank you so very much🤍
This is amazing that you want to go after your dream , dont stop!! Especially for your boys🥰 i honestly had a passion for beauty since i was young because i loved makeup and was modeling alot BUT what really interested me in skincare was the issues i was personally having with my own skin and wanting to learn more about the things i can do and how i can help others. 💕
You said “bottomless” , so true , always new treatments, it’s great to go broad first , you might be surprised what you enjoy doing ! Waxing / laser can be great long term as you can sell, sit down and get lots of reliable clients, waxing is lower capital start up
I can’t believe I wasn’t already subscribed to your channel you’ve helped me and so many others w/your videos and thank you for this one I don’t think people always understand the different types of esthetician I feel like I’m finding my way and that’s okay so I’d say general esthetician but originally I’d be the mua esthetician & who knows I can see med in my far future
Aww so glad my videos have been some help. I totally standby going at your own pace and own timing, yes find out what you truly like and become that Esthetician. You got this, do what makes you happy💕
@@ShavonMichelle the sad thing is there are programs that teach a procedure to a person that don't have the licensure background to deliver the service. There are a lot of people that are providing care or services at risk. The greatest practicing medicine without a license.
